I have a subtotal that I want to compare to a value to determine the color property that it will appear on the report in - how can I do this. Essentially, if the department is overbudget the value should be red, if the department is within budget the value should be black.......
what is the correct syntex to do this......
if (Sum(Fields!Value.Value) > (fields!budget.value) then
I have a co-worker who applied build 3161 to SQL Server 2005. The original problem was that the print preview was showing up as black. This is a documented issue with Microsoft here:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/935436
Now, when she goes into expression builder, the foreground AND background color for what you type in there appears to be white... so everything shows up as invisible. You can highlight the text you type and it shows up but otherwise it is obviously invisible.
We are using SSRS 2012. We have a report that conditionally formats a background color for some cells. The report renders properly in a browser and in Excel 2003 format. In Excel format all cells after the first one that meets the condition are highlighted, even if only one cell should.
The sample expression that triggers this condition looks like this: =IIF(Fields!VIOL_NOTE.Value="Internal","Green","No Color")
All cells after the first one that meets the condition Fields!VIOL_NOTE.Value="Internal" have a green background.
Ive been using SSIS for a month or two and now find I need to create some custom tasks to perform some performance logging. in the the overloaded ProviderComponentProperties section I am trying to create a property which has the same look as the Expressions properties you find elsewhere (Little + on the left and a group of sub properties when expanded).
Ive have played with creating a IDTSCustomPropertyCollection90 collection then adding my sub properties to it but I cant seem to then add my new collection to the ComponentMetaData.CustomPropertiesCollection.
Im assuming the Expressions parameter is a collection added to the properties collection but I cant figure out how. Any help would be much appreciated.
My colleague opens up an SSIS package with variables, many of which use expressions built with the Expression Builder. She cannot bring up the Expression Builder by clicking the ellipsis (...) in the "Expression" Property of the Property Window, regardless of whether "EvaluateAsExpression" is set to True or False.
I can open up this same package and use the Expression Builder just fine. Any ideas?
Apologies if this has been answered already, I did many searches to try to find the solution before posting here.
If you look at the General Properties for a report in Report Manager, there are 4 properties listed at the top:
Modified Date:

Modified By:
DOMAINusername1
Creation Date:

Created By:
DOMAINusername2
What I'm looking for is if there's a way to retrieve these properties via an expression from a textbox within a report. For instance, there's already an expression that is:
=Globals!ReportName
I know it won't be that easy for the CreatedBy, CreationDate, ModifiedBy, and ModifiedDate properties, but I thought I'd ask if there was a workaround or hack.
We're wanting to put that info into the footer of all our reports. (Actually this is for Report Builder reports, but you can still use expressions in Report Builder reports, so it should apply as it would to normal reports.)
When using the back color property for SSAS 2008 R2, is there a good way to match the number to the desired color? I found some color pickers online, but the numbers don't match the same colors in SSAS. How can I best determine the number needed for the color I want?
I have a field in one of my tables that has the RGB colors stored as 255,255,255 format. Is there a way to convert this to Hex color code to be used inside SSRS for a conditional color expression?

Directly using C:sql_working_directoryMLSAZPhoenixDocsArmls_Schema Updated 020107.xls as connectionString works
However - I'm trying to deploy the package - and trying to use expression: @[User::DIR_WORKING] + "\Docs\Armls_Schema Updated 020107.xls" which causes the same error to occur

I have created 1 report with 2 datasets. This report is attached to the 1st dataset. For example,1st one is "Smallappliances", 2nd is "Largeappliances".
I created a tablix and, the 1st column extracts Total sales per Sales person between 2 dates from 1st dataset (Small appliances). I used running values expression and it works fine.
Now, I would like to add another column that extracts Total sales per sales person between 2 dates from 2nd dataset (Large appliances). I am aware that I need to use Lookup expression and it is giving me the single sales value rather than the total sales values. So, I wanted to use RunningValue expression within lookup table to get total sales for large appliances.
This is the lookup expression that I added for the 2nd column.
I get this error when I preview the report. An error occurred during local report processing. The definition of the report is invalid. An unexpected error occurred in report processing.
I know that you can make an expression that will make it one color if a certain condition is met and a different one if it is not but is there anyway to make it so that if a number is less than another it's one color, if it's greater it's a different color and if they're equal it's a third color? Thanks for the help.
Can anyone tell me how can i make a column chart bar in two different colors.. acutally i have different teams in a table and each team as assigna a traget to achieve.. i want to present that each team in the chart with their column bar... but as i have two field target and achieved.. so i want a single bar wihich will be into two color Target and achive..

Hi everyone, I am trying to get this to work, but I know its all screwed up. I want Fields!PERCENT_OF_STD.Value to display red if its less than 100% or greater than 200%. If its neither, then just be plain black. This is what I came up with:
Hi, Not sure what I did wrong to this code. What I would like this code to produce is, if any number is less than 0 (negative) than it should be red, if it's greater than 0, it should be black. Somehow it comes back red even though it's a positive number.
I am trying to do something where I say look through the row. When you come across the word "Start" color that box green and color all other boxes to the right in that row green as well until you come upon the word "stop". Is this possible? If I am not making sense just let me know and I will try to explain better. Thanks in advance for any help that I get.
My line chart displays all lines in a single color (the series color). I'd like a single color per item in the series just like the bar chart. Is there a way to change this? Or is the only differentiation the markers?
I am using toggle visibility feature in one of my reports and I am trying to change the background color of some cells when I toggle the view. Please help, any help will be appreciated.
I am having a problem setting the colors of the bars in a bar chart. It seems like it would be the simplest thing, but apparently it's not.
The "series" is grouped on whether or not the value is positive -- if so, the bars are blue (by default) and if not, green (by default). I want to change it so the positive color is blue and the negative color is red.
I found that I can change ALL the bars to one color by going to chart properties, Data tab, Values Edit, Appearance tab, Series Style, Fill. There I set the color to red and ALL the bars became red. But this is not what I want.
I tried using a conditional statement like IIf(Fields!IsPositive.Value=True,Blue,Red) for the color, but (not surprisingly), it told me I hadn't defined Blue and Red.
I am working with a report created by someone else using SQL Reporting Services. In layout view the background for the body of the report is set ti transparent; however, when I preview the report using print preview the background or margins of the pages are appearing as black - text boxes, tables, etc. appear according to the properties that have been set. As soon as I change the background color to say white the print preview looks fine. Is this normal or is there a setting somewhere that controls this?
Need to be able to change the color of the columns red for negative values and Green for positive-- Im thinking that this will have to be a custom code scenario and not a expression-- any suggestions??
I want to send out an email and the email body contains a table with data. I am using SQL to create the HTML table and to populate values inside the table. Below is the code I have so far
DECLARE @HTML NVARCHAR(MAX) ; IF (SELECT COUNT(*) from Employee]) != 0
[Code] ....
But I am having trouble generating alternative colors for each row (tr:nth-of-type(odd) is not working for me)
