Is there a way to avoid entering column names in the excel template for me to create an excel file froma dynamic excel using openrowset. I have teh following code but it works fien when column names are given ahead of time. If I remove the column names from the template and just to Select * from the table and Select * from sheet1 then it tells me that column names donot match. I have a DTSX package which reads values from a fixed-length text file using a data reader and writes some of the column values from the file to an Oracle table. We have used this DTSX several times without incident but recently the process started inserting NULL values for some of the columns when there was a valid value in the source file. If we extract some of the rows from the source file into a smaller file (i.e 10 rows which incorrectly returned NULLs) and run them through the same package they write the correct values to the table, but running the complete file again results in the NULL values error. As well, if we rerun the same file multiple times the incidence of NULL values varies slightly and does not always seem to impact the same rows. I tried outputting data to a log file to see if I can determine what happens and no error messages are returned but it seems to be the case that the NULL values occur after pulling in the data via a Data Reader. Has anyone seen anything like this before or does anyone have a suggestion on how to try and get some additional debugging information around this error?

table2 is intially populated (basically this will serve as historical table for view); temptable and table2 will are similar except that table2 has two extra columns which are insertdt and updatedt

However the issue is with [1],[2],[3] columns. Those are the number of days of the month. If today is the 3rd day of the month, we only need to show 3 days. So the final table has column [1],[2],[3] and @AccountType and @Total .
We want to run this query everyday to get the moth to date values.If we run this tomorrow, it will have 4 date columns [1], [2],[3],[4] and @AccountType and @Total .
I need to find out if a Transaction ID exists in Table A that does not exist in Table B. If that is the case, then I need to insert into Table B all of the Transaction IDs and Descriptions that are not already in. Seems to me this would involve If Not Exists and then an insert into Table B. This would work easily if there were only one row. What is the best way to handle it if there are a bunch of rows? Should there be some type of looping?
I am trying to get the schema of database using the getschema method. However, the schema that is being returned does not include the description. I have added in table and column descriptions for some of my tables and columns but the dataset returned does not include the description column.
Any idea on how to get the description to be output?

I have 2 tables in a database. Table 1 is Parts and Table 2 is MiniParts. I need a script that adds a new column in the MiniParts table. and then populate the new column (NewMinipartsCL) based on Values that exist in the PartsNum column in the Parts Table, and MiniPartsCL column in the MiniParts columns.
The new column is NewMiniPartsCL. The table above shows the values that the new column (NewMiniPartsCL) should contain.

I am writing a query to return some production data. Basically i need to insert either 1 or 2 rows into a Table variable based on a decision as to does the production part make 1 or 2 items ( The Raw data does not allow for this it comes from a look up in my database)
