I have a problem that connecting sql serve 2000 name called "CBDATA" connecting into in my local machine Enterprise manger. I have the following information
1. I am the group of fiest domain.
2. My server is group of connectbuilder domain and locating in different place.
3. I added the server IP address in the client network utility alias with TCP/IP port 1433.
4. I try to register in my local machine with IP Address or server name but it getting the error
"SQL Server Registration failed because of the connection failure display below. Do you wish to register anyway?.
Specified SQL Server not found.
ConnectionOpen (Connect()) "
I don't have any problem if I am using the Terminal server to access the server physically.
I have tried to find the solution for this in many website but couldn't able to find any information.
Could you Please help me out regarding this problem.
i'm at a loss as to why i can not register a SQL 6.5 server in SQL 7.0 Enterprise Manager. When i right click the 6.6 group there is no 'New SQL Server Registration...' as you get in the SQL 7.0 group. Highlighting the 6.5 group and clicking the toolbar button (which is actually visible) does nothing either. But, funnily enough when i installed Enterprise Manager another 6.5 server was automatically registered! Even more wierd is the fact that i can connect through OK with the ISQL utility to my 6.5 server (the one i can't register) and query it, fine.
How do i register it in the Console Root? It's definatly 'connectable' just that i can't register the thing! I bet i'm being really stupid (no comments folks!)
I have installed 7.0 on my desktop and I am trying to use the Enterprise Manager. I am trying to register 6.5 servers and keep getting the SQL Server Enterprise Manager message "Warning - The client and server codepages do not match. Some ANSI character mappings may not be possible".
I have been told that I can install 6.5 then 7.0 but it is not available.
I have Enterprise Manager version 8.0When I try to register an online databse provided by an ISP I get thefollowing error message:"SQLServer does not exist or access denied[]ConnectionOpen(Connect()"I have tried it many times and checked user name, password, port 1433(as required by ISP), all to no avail.I am running SQL Developer and I have no other versions of SQL or MSDEon my computer,I would be most grateful for any help than anyone can give in solvingthe problem,Best wishes, John Morgan

When Trying to register a SQL Server using Windows Authentication, I get the following error:
Login failed for user '(null)'. Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection.
When I edit the properties and make it SQL Authentication, it works fine. The SQL Server Service is starting up with a domain user account. If that makes any difference. Funny thing is, that my co-worker, can register the SQL Server in his Enterprise Manager using Windows Authentication. We are both Domain Admins and members of the servers local admin group. So, I'm not sure what to do now.
I checked under Security, Logins...and neither of us are listed under there.
Is there a way to set a default database for a server registration?I'm with a shared host and clicking my web hosts server entry inEnterprise Manager lists all the database on the server, which takes afew minutes of waiting. Maybe there's a way to set one defaultdatabase for the server registration so that when I click the serverentry it connects to the server and lists only the default database.Any ideas?
I'm working at a customer there they use SQL server clients on W95. In Enterprise Manager I experience problems when trying to do some tasks like opening the design of a table, open the table, create a new table and also creating a DB diagram. Whenever I select one of these actions all I get is an empty window. I know for sure that it's not a permission issue since I'm sa and I can perform these tasks in QA. Is this a problem with W95 or has someone another idea ?
Hi,I am seeing very slow connections from some client enterprise managersto server. Even at server level it takes 1 minute or less to open adatabase. I have adjusted some of the memory for the SQL server, butthere are only about 60 Dbs on the server, totalling about 2 GBs.CPU is very low at all times, 1 GB of ram, p3 1.4Ghz. SQL 2k.I know I should refrag the disk, but is there anything else I can doto speed up SQL operation via enterprise manager--ODBC connections is fairly fast, as well as query analyzer.Adam
Our installation has two instances of SQL Server 7. We have the client tools associated with SQL Server 7 on our NT desktop. We will be implementing two servers running SQL Server 2000 (SMS).
Ideally, on our NT desktop we would like to have one set of client tools (EM, Query Analyzer, etc.) for supporting both versions of SQL Server.
Do we need both versions of client tools on our desktop?
Will SQL Server 2000 client tools support both versions of SQL Server?
Is it possible to downgrade SQL from Enterprise to Standard Edition, or do you have to remove the previous installation (uninstall) and reinstall. Meaning you would also have to restore all user databases? Thanks.
I'm trying to register a remote OLAP server under OLAP Manager. After I enter the machine name I get the following:
Errors occurred while connecting to <server>. Cannot open the following registry key on the server computer (<server>): SoftwareMicrosoftOLAP ServerServer Connection Info Do you still want to register this server?
The noticeable thing about this error message is that the registry key is missing the first level (HKEY_....). Has anyone been able to register a remote server? I can run OLAP Manager on the server without a problem. I just uninstalled and reinstalled OLAP services on the server and my desktop. There is a registry key with this path under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE on the server.
need suggestions on installing SQL2k enterprise edition on my laptop with WinXP Pro...
everytime i run the SQL installation setup,.. it says that "SQL server is not supported on your operating system.Only client components will be installed" I was able to install alright, but I want to install "server tools" because I want to learn XML/SQL.
im installing it on my laptop by the way.
what is required so the installation would let me install both Server and Client tools?
On one of our machines, all of the SQL Server 2000components except for the main Server component (SQL Servercore) itself were installed (Management tools, etc) a while agoand everything was running fine. Now I go and add/install theServer component and then Service Pack 3a.It seems that Service Manager won't start up (I get an hourglass cursor)and now I find that Enterprise Manager won't run as well. No errormessages appeared and I don't think I saw anything unusual inthe log file.However, I can use Enterprise Manager on a differentmachine and connect to the database (so the databaseitself seems to be running).Any suggestions as to what the problem might be and how tofix it? I like to see if I can repair this without havingto do a reinstall.Thanks.PF
IF someone can assist me. Everytime I load up enterprise manager the service manager turns off. And the enterprise manager can't connect to the local database. But everytime i turn it back on and try to connect again it shuts it off and around and around we go. Help would be appreciated. Thanks.
The company for which I work did not have a DBA until I started a few weeks ago. Whoever installed SQL2K used the wrong CD so they have been running Personal Edition on their servers. I have installed a new SQL2K standard instance and have restored everything except the jobs and DTS packages. Can the msdb from the Personal edition be restored to the standard instance?
I installed SQL Server MSDE 2000 but I can't find how to start it. Does this package include an Enterprise Manager or not? I thought that maybe it was a standard XP Pro feature. I had no problem finding it in W2000 Pro.
Has anyone encountered this error: When you are in Enterprise manager and you select a database then the tables tab and then you select a table and go to open table- select all rows, I get an error--An unexpected error happened during this operation-Query Designer encountered a query error! Please let me know if you have seen this. Also, when I access this from one networked computer I get the same error, then when I access it from another I do not!! The servers are interacting with Pivotal. The one that works does not!!
Hi all, I have SQL 7.0 desktop addition installed on my local win NT workstation. I am able to connect to my local server using Quary Analyser but when i am trying to connect using EM, i am not able to connect. I am receiveing the following error message. __________________________________________________ ___________________________ A conncetion could not be established to "servername" - Specified SQL Server not found. ConnectionOpen(CreateFile()). Please verify SQL server is running and check your SQL Server registration properties(by right clicking "servername" node) and try again. __________________________________________________ ___________________________ I have tried as said in the error message and also tried connecting with "sa" but its not working. I can see that the server is running and i am able to connect through QA.
I am fairly new sql dba in a company and I am sure Enterprise Manager is installed on PC's and it shouldn't. Is there a way of finding out other then visiting each workstation. Thanks in advance..
I am considering upsizing my Access 2000 DB to a SQL 7 server. I was told that having SQL 7 Enterprise Manager is highly prefferd but not essential as I can maintain the upsized DB with Access 2000. The only way that I have been able to find JUST enterprise manager seems to be with purchasing the whole SQL 7 program for $1300! Microsoft cannot be that cruel, that you have to buy the whole program just for Enterprise Manager!
My questions are:
Can I download just MS SQL 7 Enterprise Manager anywhere for a reasonable fee or free?
and
if not, can I continue to use Access 2000 to maintain the SQL 7 upsized DB?
I have access to a SQL 7 server via my ISP Hosting account. I know Enterprise manager comes with the server software, but how can I get a copy of JUST Enterprise Manager?
Is it possible to administer both 6.5 and 7.0 databases from the same SQL Enterprise Manager? I have read that you cannot do this because the 7.0 "plug-in" to the MMC wont work with 6.5 databases.
We had database corruption and cannot access the Enterprise Manager. DBCC returned errors 9000 to 9999 which I can't get any suggestions on how to handle from BOL. Any ideas!!!!! Thanks.
Hi, I would like to know if we can present users to access details database information about the databases on a server through Enterprise Manager. If you create a SQL login and do NOT give it access to any database, if someone logons on your server with enterprise manager, even though he does not have access to any database, he will still see the list of all database on your servers plus tons of sensitive information like database owner. Is is possible to limit enterprise manager to only view information about database that the user has access to?
