Hi, I' ve been struggling for a few days with following problem.

Hi All,
I'm currently using an Execute SQL Task to return XML data from a query into an SSIS string variable. In my FOR XML clause in SQL I'm specifying a certain name for my root tag, called "Accounts". This works great in Management Studio, however, the Execute SQL Task appends a <ROOT> and </ROOT> tag to the start and end of the string, so now it looks like:
<ROOT><Accounts>...all my elements...</Accounts></ROOT>
I'd like to remove the ROOT tags so that the <Accounts> tags are actually the root for this doc. What would be the best way to remove the ROOT tags from the SSIS string variable?
Thanks!
Hi,
I have now this (1 record) result:
;Admins;Sales;SalesAdmin;Other;Sales;Admins;All users;
Now, as you can see, there are some double rolenames.
I see admins and Sales 2 times between ";".
Is there a way to filter that out?
So that this will be the result:
;SalesAdmin;Other;Sales;Admins;All users;
Thanks!
How can I remove the time part from a datetime column when making a select statement?
View 2 Replies View RelatedHi all,
I am generating a report dynamically using ReportViewer control. I use a SELECT query to fill the dataset which in turn is used by the ReportViewer to display records. One of the fields is [End Date] and is a DateTime in SQL Server. When the ReportViewer is populated, the End Date field shows the time also with the date. How can I remove that time part? I have used these methods and I want to keep the value as DateTime only and not convert to a string or something.
These don't work for me: CAST(FLOOR(CAST(m.[End Date] AS float)) AS datetime)
DATEADD(day, DATEDIFF(day, '20000101', [End Date]), '20000101')
dateadd(day,datediff(day,0,[End Date]),0)
Please can someone help.
Thanks.

I have a function that accepts 2 DATETIME parameters. When the user passes a time other than midnight, the function returns a different result. Is there a simple way to strip the time from the variables?

Does anybody knows how to remove the time part of the datetime format?
some tables in my database's using datetime format, and the time's not default (12:00:00 AM) but it save the exact time.
Example : 7/17/2007 11:02:06 AM
when i use datetime for parameters, there's no value returned. While it's impossible for users to entered the exact time when they want to preview reports.
So, how to remove the time part in datetime format?
Thanks!
I have a results table that was created from many different sources in SSIS. I have done calculations and created derived columns in it. I am trying to figure out if there is a way to remove duplicate rows from this table without first writing it to a temp sql table and then parsing through it to remove them.
each row has a like key in a column - I would like to remove like rows keeping specific columns in the resulting row based on the data in this key field.
Ideas?
Thanks,

I have two columns COLUMNA & COLUMNB
They both store date & time. In COLUMNA, I would like do delete the time, in COLUMNB, I would like to delete the date.
They are stored like this YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS
Hi,I am creating creating a table with a Date column dd-mm-yyyy. But Icant seem to find a SQL function that just returns today's date.getDate() returns the time as well so I cant use it.The reason is simply that I want to update/overwrite over and overagain all records from current day but not touch the ones fromyesterday etc and with the timestamp in there I just end up addingmore and more rows for the same day.In other words I only want to preserve rows are from yesterday orolder but overwrite ones from today.Any help will be appricated.Thank you!Yas
View 3 Replies View RelatedTwo part question:
What I want to do is remove the time component from a datetime value. That is to say I want 2008-04-18 00:00:00.000 intead of 2008-04-18 13:46:57.983. I have heard that the only way to do this is to convert the datetime to a string, strip off the time portion and then convert back to a date. Isn't there a simpler way?
I recenly stumbled upon this construct: { d '2008-04-18' } . It appears that this might accomplish what I am lookig for above except that it appears to only except literal strings and not variables. I think this construct comes from the ODBC "improvements" realm so I am leary of depending on it as I am not sure it is standard. Any insights and links to more documentation on using this new, for me, construct would be appreciate.
what is the easiest way to obtain 10 records at a time using a SQL query in SQL server ?
View 5 Replies View RelatedHello, I would like to exclude the time period after 5.30pm and before 8.30am in my results. The time is in a 13 digit timestamp format which is the same as a standard unix timestamp with 3 digits which are microseconds.
I used:
dataadd(ss, TTIME/1000, '1970-01-01')AS time
to create a column with a readable time in it.
Here is a screenshot: http://www.abtecnet.com/timescreenshot.jpg
Can anyone help me with this. Thanks very much.

Hello~,
The table has columns like this.
________________________________
time smalldatetime
value1 int
value2 int
----------------------------------------------------------
for example,
....
'2006-11-16 12:00:00',100,200
'2006-11-16 13:00:00',110,210
'2006-11-16 14:00:00',120,220
....
The record is inserted at every hour.
I want get daily,monthly,yearly average and display the result ordered by time.
Every time I call Encrypt by key I get a different result, although I am encrypting the same clear text,using the same authenticator and using the same key.
I tried calling it twice inside one stored procedure and I got two different results.
Declare @Temp varbinary(8000);
Declare @Temp2 varbinary(8000);
set @Temp = EncryptByKey(Key_GUID('MyKey'),@cleartext,1,@Authenticator);
set @Temp2= EncryptByKey(Key_GUID('MyKey'),@cleartext,1,@Authenticator);
Select @Temp,@Temp2;
when executing this stored procedure, the value of @Temp is differnent from the result of @Temp2, and the same thing happens without using an authenticator.
Is there something going behind in the encryption mechanism of SQL server?
Hi,
I used SET STATISTICS TIME ON to get execution stats for a query. I found that the CPU Time was sometimes greater than the elapsed time. How is this possible? The query does not use any parallelism since I used the query option MAXDOP 1. Is the elapsed time wait time? Is the total execution time the sum of the CPU time and elapsed time?
SQL Server Execution Times:
CPU time = 797 ms, elapsed time = 162 ms.
I have a lot of rows of hours, set up like this: 0745, 0800, 2200, 1145 and so on (varchar(5), for some reason).
These are converted into a smalldatetime like this:
CONVERT(smalldatetime, STUFF(timestarted, 3, 0, ':')) [this would give output like this - 1900-01-01 11:45:00]
This code has been in place for years...and we stick the date on later from another column.
But recently, it's started to fail for some rows, with "The conversion of a varchar data type to a smalldatetime data type resulted in an out-of-range value".
My assumption is that new data being added in is junk. If I query for these values and just list them (rather than adding a column to convert them also) that's fine, of course. I've checked all the stuffed (but not yet converted - so 11:45 rather than 1145) output to see if it ISDATE(), and it is. There are no times with hours > 23 or minutes greater than 59 either.
If I add the CONVERT in, we see the error message. But here's the oddity, if I place all of the rows into a holding table, and retry the conversion, there is no error. It's this last bit that is puzzling me. Plus I can't see any errors in the hours data that would cause a conversion problem.
I've put the whole of this into a cursor to try to trap the error rows too, but all processes fine. Why would it fail if NOT in a cursor?
I am trying to calculate the time difference between the value in the row and the min value in the table. So say the min value in the table is 2014-05-29 14:44:17.713. (This is the start time of the test.) Now say the test ends at 2014-05-29 17:10:17.010. There are many rows recorded during that start and end time, for each row created a time stamp is created. I am trying to calculate the elapsed time and have it as a row in the results.
min(timestamp) - timestamp(value in row) = elapsed time for that test
where Channel = '273'
Here is the table DDL
CREATE DATABASE SpecTest;
USE SpecTest
GO
CREATE TABLE [dbo].[Spec1](
[Spec1ID] [int] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL,
[Channel] [int] NOT NULL,
[Code] ....
Here is some dummy data to use
INSERT INTO Spec1 (Channel, Timestamp, Lambda, Power)
VALUES(273, '2014-05-29 14:44:17.713', 800, '-64.91');
INSERT INTO Spec1 (Channel, Timestamp, Lambda, Power)
VALUES(273, '2014-05-29 15:05:09.507', 800, '-59.11');
INSERT INTO Spec1 (Channel, Timestamp, Lambda, Power)
[Code] ....
Example desired results (I hope the formatting works)
Channel | Timestamp | Lambda | Power | Elapsed_Time
______________________________________________________________
273 | '2014-05-29 14:44:17.713', | 800, | '-64.91' | 0
273 | '2014-05-29 15:05:09.507', | 800, | '-64.91' | 00:20:51
273 | '2014-05-29 15:26:00.520', | 800, | '-64.91' | 00:41:42
273 | '2014-05-29 16:28:34.213', | 800, | '-64.91' | 01:44:16
273 | '2014-05-29 16:49:25.853', | 800, | '-64.91' | 02:05:08

I need to query the count of an occurrence in a given period of time, so I created this query. But it does not give me any results.
SELECT TOP 1000
o.[ID]
,o.[TimeOfOrder]
,x.[StreeLine1]
FROM [SC].[dbo].[bvc_Order] o
FULL JOIN SC.dbo.xmlAddressRead x
ON o.ID= x.id
WHERE DATEDIFF(HOUR,o.[TimeOfOrder],(DATEADD(Hour, -48, GETDATE()))) < 48
GROUP BY x.[StreeLine1], o.ID, o.TimeOfOrder
HAVING COUNT(x.[StreeLine1])>1
Then I change the query slightly and I ask it to show me the ones that are going to '599 Ships Landing Way' and it gives me 356 results! The Query doesn't crash, but it doesn't give me the results I need. What did I do incorrectly?
SELECT TOP 1000
o.[ID]
,o.[TimeOfOrder]
,x.[StreeLine1]
FROM [SC].[dbo].[bvc_Order] o
FULL JOIN SC.dbo.xmlAddressRead x
ON o.ID= x.id
WHERE DATEDIFF(HOUR,o.[TimeOfOrder],(DATEADD(Hour, -48, GETDATE()))) < 48

I use Microsoft SQL 2008
I wonder if it is possible to run a stored procedure and save the results directly to a file in a predetermined directory
As an example I have created a (simple) stored procedure:
USE CovasCopy
GO
CREATE PROCEDURE spTryOut
(
@LastName as NVARCHAR(50)
, @FirstName AS NVARCHAR(25)
[Code] ....
What I would like to add is a (or more?) lines that save the results in a file (csv/txt/tab?)
The name I would like the file to have is "LastName, FirstName, Date query ran, time (HHMMSS?) query ran"
The directory: D:SQLServerResults
I've got this issue with a query in SSIS. From a table in SQL Server I'm getting over 25000 different identifiers. These identifier are associated to many values in a table in one Oracle Database. This is the schema that I have implemented for doing this.
The problem is that some days the identifiers can be over 45000, and at this point perform a loop for every one is not the best solution (It can take to much time to get the result). Previously I have performed another query where from the SQL statement.
I am creating and sending a unique row with all the values concatenated and then I have recover this unique string from an object and use it to create the query in the ODBC Source that invoke the table in Oracle: something like this:
'Select * from Oracle_table' + @string_values
with @string_values = 'where value in (........)'. It works good because the number of values is small enough to be used, like 250. But in this case I can not use this approach because the number is really big and obviously the DBA of Oracle is going to cancel the query.
So I wonder, how can I iterate over the object getting only a few number of values everytime, something like 300 or maximum 500, to avoid the cancellation of the query but at the same time doing the minimum number of loops.
Hi,I need a way of changing the following SQL statement so that the dates are without the hh:mm:ss tt:"Select DISTINCT([StartDate]) From [Events]"How can this be done?Thanks,Curt.

I have uninstalled the CTP version of the SQL Server express so that I can install the released version but CTP version is still listed in the add/remove program list but without the change/remove button. I have been to different sites to find information on cleaning this up and I have ran all the uninstall tool I can find but the problem still prevails. I cannot install the released version without completely getting rid of the CTP version. Please help anyone.

I need help,
I am having a hard time removing my SQL instance inside the Add/Remove program. After i select the SQL Instance name and then I tried to remove it but it won't allow me to delete it. There isn't any error message or whatsoever. Actually, when i try to log it in my SQL Management studio, that certain sql instance name is not existing according to the message box. Is there any way to remove the Sql Instance in my system?

Hi all,
I have created a report in SSRS 2005 which is being viewed by users from different Time Zones.
I have a dataset which has a field of type datetime (UTC). Now I would like to display this Date according to the User Time Zone.
For example if the date is August 07, 2007 10:00 AM UTC,
then I would like to display it as August 07, 2007 03:30 PM IST if the user Time Zone is IST.
Similarly for other Time Zones it should display the time accordingly.
Is this possible in SSRS 2005?
Any pointers will be usefull...
Thanks in advance

hi, like, if i need to do delete some items with the id = 10000 then also need to update on the remaining items on the with the same idthen i will need to go through all the records to fetch the items with the same id right? so, is there something that i can use to hold those records so that i can do the delete and update just on those records and don't need to query twice? or is there a way to do that in one go ?thanks in advance!

I want to search Customer based off of the Search record, which could have multiple SearchCriteria records. However, if there aren't any SearchCriteria records with CountyId populated for a given Search, I want it to assume to get all Customer records, regardless of CountyId.
Right now, I'm doing it this way.

Hello. I currently have a website that has a table on one webpage. When a record is clicked, the primary key of that record is transfered in the query string to another page and fed into an sql statement. In this case its selecting a project on the first page, and displaying all the scripts for that project on another page. I also have an additional dropdownlist on the second page that i use to filter the scripts by an attribute called 'testdomain'. At present this works to an extent. When i click a project, i am navigated to the scripts page which is empty except for the dropdownlist. i then select a 'testdomain' from the dropdownlist and the page populates with scripts (formview) for the particular test domain. what i would like is for all the scripts to be displayed using the formview in the first instance when the user arrives at the second page. from there, they can then filter the scripts using the dropdownlist.
My current SQL statement is as follows.
SelectCommand="SELECT * FROM [TestScript] WHERE (([ProjectID] = @ProjectID) AND ([TestDomain] = @TestDomain))"
So what is happening is when testdomain = a null value, it does not select any scripts. Is there a way i can achieve the behaivour of the page as i outlined above? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
James.
