What I want to do is remove the time component from a datetime value. That is to say I want 2008-04-18 00:00:00.000 intead of 2008-04-18 13:46:57.983. I have heard that the only way to do this is to convert the datetime to a string, strip off the time portion and then convert back to a date. Isn't there a simpler way?
I recenly stumbled upon this construct: { d '2008-04-18' } . It appears that this might accomplish what I am lookig for above except that it appears to only except literal strings and not variables. I think this construct comes from the ODBC "improvements" realm so I am leary of depending on it as I am not sure it is standard. Any insights and links to more documentation on using this new, for me, construct would be appreciate.
Hi all, I am generating a report dynamically using ReportViewer control. I use a SELECT query to fill the dataset which in turn is used by the ReportViewer to display records. One of the fields is [End Date] and is a DateTime in SQL Server. When the ReportViewer is populated, the End Date field shows the time also with the date. How can I remove that time part? I have used these methods and I want to keep the value as DateTime only and not convert to a string or something. These don't work for me: CAST(FLOOR(CAST(m.[End Date] AS float)) AS datetime)
I have a function that accepts 2 DATETIME parameters. When the user passes a time other than midnight, the function returns a different result. Is there a simple way to strip the time from the variables?
Nothing difficult, I just need a way to generate a new datetime column based on the column [PostedDate], datetime. So basically I want to truncate the time. Thanks a lot.

I'm having a hell of a time - I'm dealing with an SCD situation using TableDifference component and I have both existing dimensions and new data coming in, each go through identical Case-Insensitive/Sort with remove duplicates, but I'm getting identical new and deleted records detected - I think because of ordering issues. I'm still trying to whittle the test case down, but I think data from all around the records I'm investigating seems to get sorted in between them, so I'm having trouble getting a small test case built.
I think the mixed case data is the root of the problem, and I think the design is bad, but before I go back to the technical lead, I need to understand enough to show that you cannot take two pipelines sorted and de-duped case-insensitively and then do a case-sensitive table difference operation.

when i use datetime for parameters, there's no value returned. While it's impossible for users to entered the exact time when they want to preview reports.

Hi,I am creating creating a table with a Date column dd-mm-yyyy. But Icant seem to find a SQL function that just returns today's date.getDate() returns the time as well so I cant use it.The reason is simply that I want to update/overwrite over and overagain all records from current day but not touch the ones fromyesterday etc and with the timestamp in there I just end up addingmore and more rows for the same day.In other words I only want to preserve rows are from yesterday orolder but overwrite ones from today.Any help will be appricated.Thank you!Yas
I have a flat file that contains detail in each record as indicated below:
HEADER_ID, ATTRIB_A(1..10), ATTRIB_B(1..10), ATTRIB_C(1..10), etc.
The index of the attribute relates it to other attributes with the same index. It needs to look like this in the detail table:
HEADER_ID, ATTRIB_A1, ATTRIB_B1, ATTRIB_C1
HEADER_ID, ATTRIB_A2, ATTRIB_B2, ATTRIB_C2
I need to pivot these attributes into a detail table that relates back to the header information. Because of the number of these, I don't want to use the UNPIVOT Task because there are so many. I was hoping to move the complexity to a Script Component where I could read one line and transform it to a normalized state.
I have a package that has a data lfow task. this task imports data from a db2 database (using the IBM Ole DB provider fro db2) and adds it to sql server database table. This package was created on the server. then though version control (using TFS source control) I check out the package on my local machine. and when I open the package I get the foll 3 errors.

I have a package which reads an Access file from a folder. My connection manager to this file is .NET providers for OledbMicrosoft Jet 4.0 OLE DB Provider.
Package works from my computer. But when I execute it on the server as a SQL Agent job, I get

Hi, I have to add the fields coming from the source AS IS but, I need to add current date as a column to it. So, What I do is to add an Script Component and add each and every output column in that along with defining their types and writing an "assignments" script.
Is there any possibility for me to save time in the scenarios where I am almost passing on the information to next level in the data flow ?

I have a field that contains only a date, and a field that only contains times. If I try to add the two together, I get some meaningless date like year 2111.

I wrote a function that gives me the minutes past midnight for the EVT_TM and use a dateadd(n,myMinutesFuntion(EVT_TM),EVT_DT), but it kills the performance in the nexted cursor.
Is there a way to store a time in the SQLServer database, without the date? (e.g. just simply "HH:MM" instead of "HH:MM DD/MM/YYYY" which it stores it in)
hi guyz i want to compare time from DateTime field i.e. i want to identify if the time is from 1pm to 2pm the do this else do...... select DATEPART(hour, loginTime) ......returns me the hour i can get the Hour part of the time but the prblem is how to identify it whether it is less than 2:00:00 pm and greater than 1:00:00 pm i can do this task using at application level but i want this to b done at query level any ideas??????????
