Now when I am trying to deploy them through deployment project of .NET its giving me following error:"Using other editions of SQL Server for report data sources and/or the report server database" is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services. Now I am really confused with this. Can any one please guide me regarding this ASAP. Thanks, Falguni

"Report Server Windows Service (MSSQLSERVER) cannot connect to the report server database." Event 107 source : "Report Server Windows Service (MSSQLSERVER)"
I would like to know if it is possible to have different applications on separate report servers sharing one report server database. If so are there possible issues or ptfalls to this type of architecture?
I went to my comp ->rt cick->manage-IIS->default website->rt click->properties->directory security->annoymouse access€¦EDIT->under Default domain it was blank, and i added a domain there.
And i was getting error opening up the reports from localhost.
I changed everything to same as it was previosly, and I am getting the error:
The report server cannot open a connection to the report server database. A connection to the database is required for all requests and processing. (rsReportServerDatabaseUnavailable) (rsRPCError) Get Online Help
Cannot open database "ReportServer$SQLExpress" requested by the login. The login failed. Login failed for user 'NGESComputer name$'.
I am newbie and working with an application that ueses report server 2000 to make reports.
The problem is somebody has moved the database and changed some acounts and now I can not either get any report from the server or install my changes for reports. I used to run this commando to install changes for reports:
here is the error message i get when i try to install:
System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException: The report server cannot open a connection to the report server database. The logon failed
when I browse to http://IpAddress:32808/reportserver I get following:
The report server cannot open a connection to the report server database. The logon failed. (rsReportServerDatabaseLogonFailed) Get Online Help
Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password.
at IIS Manager for default web site Enable Anonymous Access is checked and on the database server and the web.config file use same account and password.
but I heard that somewhere there is encrypted password that i have to change it too.

The error happens on Reporting Service version 9.00.3017.00 (the version we are running in Production). The Reporting Service and its database are actually resided in the same physical server. And the strange thing is that it does not prevent any functionalities or features working except when I launch the Management Studio on that server, it usually takes 2 minutes to load up. (any other server would just take 5 -10 seconds).
I am running SQL Reporting Services and SQL Server 2005 on a Windows 2003 server. The configuration has been unchanged for approx. 3 weeks. Suddenly today, reports being accessed via an ASP.NET 2.0 application (on Windows 2003 Server with IIS 6) using a SOAP call to the reportserver became inaccessable. End users received the following error:

This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.

Subsequently, the following error is logged on the Report Server/Database server:
Report Server (MSSQLSERVER) cannot connect to the report server database.
I was able to temporarily correct the problem by performing as iisrest on the Report Server/Database server. However, the same problem occured again a couple hours later. I am relatively new to SQL Reporting Services so any help would be appreciated.
I am getting the following error, when trying to deploy. the report should point to a server which is in my network, but the report is on my machine. where i am trying to deploy locally but point to a different machine.
Please could someone advise me the best way to produce statistical reports from a SQL table. The database has been moved from Access and they used to be done by Access queries and reports.
I have a requirement to create a Database usage report. The report should have - userid, user name, login time, database to which he has logged in, log out time, host machine id.
How do I go about generating this type of report. What system tables are to be refered?
I would like to generate a report that lists each database in both sql 2000 and 2005 instance alongwith their size. I can get the size sysfiles... perhaps i can join it with sysdatabases ?
Hi, I am very new to SSRS. Currently I am developing a web project which involves report generation through SSRS. My SQL Server Database engine is configured to have Windows Authentication. I want my reports to be secure by creating Accounts. In such a case how can I create Accounts in SQL Report Server database set. Is it possible or is there any other approach to achieve this. Thanks,
Hello,I am trying to use the SQl Server database reporting tools to create areport on the database to find areas for optimization including tableformats, column formats, and sizes. Can anybody please help me withthis. If any body has used any other tool by which I can create abovementioned reports plz do let me know. I will be really thankful foryour help.ThanksSuneel
Hello, I have a database in MS SQL and need some tool which is able to report the structure - tables and columns with datatype and description. As well each table should have a description. Is there any way how to achieve this goal ? I have spent more than one hour looking at MS SQL Server Management Studio Express and didn't see any possibiliy . Thanks a lot. Mario
I have been asked to create an archive database which we can use for reporting purpuse . The idea is to have a seperate data base which is an exact copy of the current production database , Once we setup the archive DB . we will remove all 40 days old data from Production database and form that day on should have archive DB with full data and production DB with 40 days old. I thought go going log shipping or back up restor or snapshortor something but the problem is with all these technology the both data base will come in sync . If i delete data from production that will reflect in arvhive also .
I thought of keeping the 40 days only in production and the rest in archive . But they want to wiew the both data together in one aspx page . so i had think of some joint view . But when the archive data gets grow this would be the main perfomence bottlentck
Can any one help me to select a good solution for this, thanks in advance
Currently I have a Report Model that uses a Data Source where the "Credentials are supplied by the user running the report". This works quite well. The only further requirement is that I would also like to be able to specify which database to use (at runtime), would this be possible?
I added a database named appdata to the app_data folder to hold temporary application data. I want to show this data in a report. I created a dataset and an object to select the data. I then created an report.fdlc and a report.aspx with a ReportViewer on it pointing to the dataset object. If I right click on the report.aspx and View in Browser, it work perfectly. But when I upload it to the server I get and browse to it I get (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified). The server does allow remote connections. So I am thinking it's my connection string of the fact that the server doesn't have Sql Server Express.? Here's my connection string. What am I missing here? <add name="appdataConnectionString" connectionString="Data Source=.SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename=|DataDirectory|appdata.mdf;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
I have a database in the SQL 2005 default instance and a report server in a named instance. The database has a symmetric key for decrypting one of the columns. When the report server queries the database I get this error: "Cannot find the symmetric key 'key', because it does not exist or you do not have permission." I know the symmtric key is there because it works when queried from the same instance. Should the database and report server be in the same instance? Or is there a way to change the permissions so that the report server can access the symmetric key in the other instance? I might note that the report server is able to access unencrypted data in the other instance. The error only occurs when I try to decrypt data using the symmetric key.
I need a way to automatically generate a daily report of user names, time of access, and type of access (login, select, insert, update, delete, etc.) to a database.
We need to audit all accesses from all accounts to find out who is accessing the payroll system. We have already defined the security to be as tight as possible - however we need to monitor all Administrator accounts to ensure they are not being used to obtain sensitive information.
I have looked for some software to read the live SQL Transaction Logs, but none of the tools I have seen can do exactly what we require. For example, I've tried Lumigent Log Explorer (http://www.lumigent.com/products/le_sql.html), but it's not automated and the report output is just garble to our payroll staff.
I have looked up all Microsoft SQL Server partners but their software is all about data recovery and data reporting. We need Security Reporting.
I have created a general SQL Profiler trace that may suffice if everything else fails, but I still have no way of automating it - it relies on Real-Time monitoring which I can't trust (admin can turn this off, do their stuff, turn it back on). Also this is dependant on someone turning it off, save the log, turn it back on, every day - this person would be the Administrator - what admin would monitor themselves?
- SQL Trace seems like a good idea, how do I read the trace log file? How do I automate a trace?
- Can we automate the SQL Profiler to read the transaction log to find all accesses to a database?
- Does anyone know what we can do to automatically audit accesses to a database? What format can the report come in (pdf, xls, dbf, html etc.)
- Recommended software to try?
- Ideas for alternatives to try?
- Any companies/developers out there who know of a tool or are developing a tool to provide this sort of report?
- Is there a spec somewhere to let us write our own software to query the live transaction log?
Thanks, I appreciate any help. Kind Regards James Payne
I ran the database consistency on 2 databases, the first little used (and relatively new), the other much more active. On the little used db the report didn't return any lines. On the much more active DB it returned 6 lines (one each for the last 6 days). They all reported 0 errors. Should I be concerned that the one database is actually reporting information, even if it appears to tell me "all clear"?
Hey guys,Does anyone know a way (in Enterprise Manager or thru a SQL statement)to get the number of rows and the size of each table in a database?Thks,
hi, can anyone help me out with this report.I need to produce a report for the database level user permission.like for a database: DB_A, I want to output as such:[SELECT] [INSERT] [UPDATE] [DELETE] [CREATE TABLE] .... otherpublic G Dguest D D D D Ddbo G G G G Guser_A G D D D GG stands for Grant and D stands for Deny.I need not only to look at direct grant/deny but also whether that useris a member of fixed database role and fixed server role. like dbo willhave G on all.I am trying to look into sysprotects table and looking at lines with id= 0 but I just can't get to know what different action and protecttypenumbers means! Many thanks
My db version is sqlserver2005 sp2 Now, I need to install report services However failed when i specify the report server database after report services was installed It prompt the database version(C.0.8.40) does not match the report services installation. You must update your reporting services installation. but how to update reporting services installation? Thanks a lot
Hail to all the serious Report Server users. Let us all start the documentation effort on Report Server Database (Reporting Services 2005). This will let us work around many problems that occur due to lask of documentation of the RS DB Schema.
Example :
Subscriptions table in the report server database can be used for handling the subscriptions manually. A DML statement coupled with the same on the sysjobs in msdb database can stop corrupt subscriptions (which cannot be modified directly using User Interfaces)
Current Problem
The problem that I am facing is related to the size of the Report Server (it is above 35 GBs, with 422 users) while its counter part with 128 users is only 4 GBs. This is due to a table ServerParametersInstance which is growing in an out-of-bound fashion. The lack of documentation is hurting.
So let us put in some effort & document the RS Database for good.
I have been trying to configure SQL Server 2005 Report Services. Every time I create the ReportServer database, the systems asks me if I want to "update" the database. It allows me no other option. When I click "apply", I get the message that the database version does not match my installation version. Does anybody have any insight into what happening with the configuration? What's more, do you have a solution?
