Error Msg 6522, Level 16, State 1 Receives When Call The Assembly From Store Procedure To Create A Text File And To Write Text

Jun 21, 2006

Hi,
I want to create a text file and write to text it by calling its assembly from Stored Procedure. Full Detail is given below

I write a code in class to create a text file and write text in it.
1) I creat a class in Visual Basic.Net 2005, whose code is given below:
Imports System
Imports System.IO
Imports Microsoft.VisualBasic
Imports System.Diagnostics
Public Class WLog
Public Shared Sub LogToTextFile(ByVal LogName As String, ByVal newMessage As String)
Dim w As StreamWriter = File.AppendText(LogName)
LogIt(newMessage, w)
w.Close()
End Sub
Public Shared Sub LogIt(ByVal logMessage As String, ByVal wr As StreamWriter)
wr.Write(ControlChars.CrLf & "Log Entry:")
wr.WriteLine("(0) {1}", DateTime.Now.ToLongTimeString(), DateTime.Now.ToLongDateString())
wr.WriteLine(" :")
wr.WriteLine(" :{0}", logMessage)
wr.WriteLine("---------------------------")
wr.Flush()
End Sub
Public Shared Sub LotToEventLog(ByVal errorMessage As String)
Dim log As System.Diagnostics.EventLog = New System.Diagnostics.EventLog
log.Source = "My Application"
log.WriteEntry(errorMessage)
End Sub
End Class

2) Make & register its assembly, in SQL Server 2005.
3)Create Stored Procedure as given below:

CREATE PROCEDURE dbo.SP_LogTextFile
(
@LogName nvarchar(255), @NewMessage nvarchar(255)
)
AS EXTERNAL NAME
[asmLog].[WriteLog.WLog].[LogToTextFile]

4) When i execute this stored procedure as
Execute SP_LogTextFile 'C:Test.txt','Message1'

5) Then i got the following error
Msg 6522, Level 16, State 1, Procedure SP_LogTextFile, Line 0

Help, How To Write 2 Outputs To One Text File??

Mar 13, 2007

Hi,

SQL Server 2005, sp2

What I am trying to do is very simple. I just want to run 2 stored procedures, then have the output from both sp's written to a single file.

I created a Data Flow task, then put 2 OLE DB Source adapters in the Data Flow task, one for each stored procedure.

Next, I dropped a Flat File destination object onto the page. However, I can only connect ONE arrow from one of the OLE DB Source adapters to the Flat File destination. It won't let me connect both.

What am I doing wrong here? How can I accomplish what I am trying to do here?

Thanks much

Write Content Of TEXT Field To A File

Sep 19, 2007

I have a table with a column [FileData] of type TEXT or XML. I need to write the content of the column to a file, using sp_OAWrite for example, but the stored procedure who needs to read the content and write it to the file does not work because the limitation is no local variable for those types. What use is that datatype if i can not use it in procedures like this?

Anyone out there who could give me a tip on how to solve that?

Unable To Retrieve Data From A Source CSV File That Contains Embedded Text Qualifiers

Hi Mates,

I am unable to fetch data from Source which is CSV file whose sample contents are given below:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Fiscal year";"Posting period";"Company Code";"Functional area";"Profit Center";"Business area";"Group Account";"Posting Level";"Document Type";"Accounting Principle";"Cost Pool";"Financial Owner";"Period Value GC"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The error message that comes while I preview the source data:

Error:

"The Preview sample contains embedded text qualifiers. The flat file parser doesnot support embedding text qualifiers in data. Parsing columns that contain data with text qualifiers will fail at runtime"

Is there any alternative to remove these text qualifiers from the file. Do we have any utility that can convert these files into text qualifier free CSV file?

How To Write Selected Table Data To A Text File Daily?

Is the DTS Wizard the best way, that's what I did, but have not confirmed that it is writing a new text file every day, and does each new version write over the old one?

Using Script Destination Object To Create And Write To New Text File

Jul 31, 2007

Is there a better way to do this?

We've all seen this, where it uses an individual .write statement for each column.

Code Snippet

Public Overrides Sub AWCCogent_ProcessInputRow(ByVal Row As AWCCogentBuffer)

With textWriter

Dim item As Object

If Not Row.AddressID_IsNull Then
.Write(Row.AddressID)
End If
.Write(columnDelimiter)
If Not Row.City_IsNull Then
.Write(Row.City)
End If

.WriteLine()

End With

End Sub

But hard coding this seems not the smartest way. Especially since in my text file, there needs to be close to 100 columns. This could be a nightmare to update down the road. But I can't seem to find the object collection to loop through, like row.items which would seem to be logical.

There's gotta be a better way, right Microsoft?

T-SQL (SS2K8) :: Trigger To Call A Program To Write Text File Onto A Folder In Server

Apr 29, 2014

I have created a trigger to call a program that is written by our program. The program is basically read the record in the table and write to a text file, then delete the record from the table.

The trigger is a after insert trigger. After we added the trigger, we insert a record to the table. The result is that the record still and did not get deleted. Also, the text file didn't get created either. It seems that it take a long time for the record to be written to the table.

But if we just run the program (a exe file), it can write a text file in the folder and delete the record. the trigger is basically:

USE [Zinter]
GO
/****** Object: Trigger [dbo].[ZinterProcess] Script Date: 04/29/2014 18:34:56 ******/
SET ANSI_NULLS ON
GO
SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON
GO

Retrieve Text File Data In SSE For Data Acquisition System

Oct 24, 2007

Hey All,
I am developing a data acquistion system which monitors the amount of energy that a user consumes in different parts of a house and displays the information in real time on their computer screen. I am collecting the data through tranducers attached to the circuit breakers in the breaker box and sending the data to analog-to-digital converter channels in a MCU. I am retrieving the data from the serial port and storing it to a text file. Each line of data in the text file represents three fields which are separated by commas. I will be reading data from multiple data collection boxes so the first field is the unit number, the second fied represents the analog-to-digital converter channel number from each unit, and the third field is the data that is collected from the ATD channel. I am trying to use SSE to retrieve the data from the text file, and parse each line of data into individual columns in a databse. Then I want to be able to extract the data associated with a particular ATD channel number from the databse and display it in the appropriate text field on a windows form.
I've got the MCU programmed. I have no problem collecting the data from the serial port, and I can do the visual basic programming okay. I have absolutely no clue how to read the data into the database, continuosly read new values into the databse, and then access the stored data to update the text fields on the form. Please help if you can, I've been working on this specific problem for a couple of weeks and I'm not making any progress. Thanks.

How To Create Apps That Write Code To Retrieve Data With Foreign Keys?

Apr 6, 2007

Hi GuysOff late, I've grown with programming that requires more than a number of tables that has foreign keys with other tables' primary keys. It takes a really cumbersome coding to retrieve the code from another table with the other table having foreign keys. My question is, how do we program VS 2005 such that it does all the retrieval of the data from the database instead of us writing the code all by ourself?Is it really good database technique to bend the normalcy rules and have one to two columns having redundant data?Can anyone tell me how to write code that retrieves the foreign key data when the data from the other table is called?Thanks

Text Distorted When I Retrieve It.

Jan 10, 2006

Hello AllI am having a small problem retrieving data from our main Sql Server.  The data is coming from a 'text' column in the database.  When I pull this data from our testing server and present it on a page, everything is fine.  When I pull the same data from the main server, the text is distorted.  It seems that the text is that which is enclosed with quotation marks.  I assume this has something to do with the db settings.  Does anyone know how fix this I'll try to post an example below.Main Server:We use the Russell

SQL CONNECTION - INSERT - RETRIEVE ID - Rename File - UPLOAD FILE

There is a file upload page which will upload images to a directory.  I need to insert into the database retrieve the id just added then upload the image renaming it in the format locID(QueryString)_ImageID(retrieved from database).jpg
The page has a file upload control and a button.

II think i need to call the routine from another routine for the button click but the signatures are different, where am i going wrong? or for that matter have i been pissing into the wind for the last 4 hours?

Save And Retrieve RTF TEXT FROM SQL DATABASE

Jul 18, 2007

Hi,
i have a richtextbox control in my application, and want to know how to save and retrieve formatted text in a MS SQL DB.

I found this example in the forum, but I don't know how to use it. Can you please help me solve the problem? Where should I write the code below?

I've just tried it and able to do this successfully.

I basically did this:
load the RTF into the RTB control
created a SQL command, simple basic insert statement:

SqlCommand theSQLCommand = new SqlCommand("INSERT INTO [TableName] (Field) VALUES (@p1)");
SqlParameter theSQLParameter = new SqlParameter("@p1", SqlDbType.Text);
theSQLParameter.Value = this.theRichTextBox.RTF;
theSQLCommand.Parameters.Add(theSQLParameter);
theSQLCommand.Connection = new SqlConnection(ConnectionString);
theSQLCommand.Connection.Open();
theSQLCommand.ExecuteNonQuery();
theSQLCommand.Connection.Close();

then to retrieve it, I did this, again, specifically for this example

this.theRichTextBox.Text = String.Empty;
SqlCommand theSQLCommand = new SqlCommand("SELECT [Field] FROM [TableName] WHERE [ID] = 1");
theSQLCommand.Connection = new SqlConnection(ConnectionString);
theSQLCommand.Connection.Open();
SqlDataReader theReader = theSQLCommand.ExecuteReader(CommandBehavior.CloseConnection);
while (theReader.Read())
{
this.theRichTextBox.RTF = theReader.GetValue(0).ToString();
}
theSQLCommand.Connection.Close();

And was able to do this fine and got all the formatting etc... correctly.

Via SQL Server How To Retrieve Text Message That Is In Tab Messages

May 30, 2008

Hi,
To be more clear. My problem is :
1) I launched the stataments behing via sql server studio :
Use AutClust
GO
SET NOCOUNT ON;
Set statistics IO ON
GO
select * FROM table_1;
Go
Set statistics IO OFF
GO

2) I have then obtained in tab message the result displayed in text format in tab messages :
Table 'table_1'. Scan count 1, logical reads 490, physical reads 0, read-ahead reads 0, lob logical reads 0, lob physical reads 0, lob read-ahead reads 0.

The objective is to implement those statements in a stored procedure that will be able to recover in automatic manner the content of tab messages.
This text is a system response connected to the statements above. I think that exist a system variable which contain the result displayed in tab messages.

I tried tu use @@rowcount it deos not work because this system variable return number of row affacted by last statement.

Does it exist another system variable that could contain the text which is in tab messages?

I do need a solution for this problem.
Please bring me your help.

Thanks for your help.

Reporting Services :: How To Write Custom Legend Text

Oct 23, 2015

I was trying to write a custom legend text for a chart that I have in SSRS. In the chart I have a Bar chart and a Line chart. I have two values coming from a dataset. One is a running value. All the series values are from year dataset.

I need to get a custom legend text for the three data series looking like this. "2013- Mth", "2014-Mth". Year should be dynamic and coming from the dataset.

I tried writing an expression in the series legend option as shown below.

But I don't get the required text for the chart. I only get the default series text for the legend. If I only write a text without the dynamic year taken from the dataset columns I get the custom text. But not when I concatenate the dynamic year series with the static text. Any property to enable/disable?

How Do You Write Text Upside Down In A Textbox On A SSRS Report?

Dec 27, 2007

I found this thread which allows me to write vertical from the bottom up but I want to flip the text 180 degrees and write it upside down:

http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=559933&SiteID=1

I tried modifying it and playing around with the TranslateTranform function but I'm really confused on how it works. I can get the first letter in my text to be upside down but the rest is not showing up. It's like it's being cut off or something. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thank you in advanced.

Using The File Connection Manager To Write To A File

Jan 7, 2008

Is there any real purpose to the File Connection Manager? Not the Flat File Connection Manager, just the plain old File Connection Manager.

I have one in my SSIS package because I thought it might make writing to a file easier. But from what I can tell, it doesn't really do much. I have to pull the file name from the connection manager and basically open and manage the file myself in my scripts.

I went this route because I have two scripts that write to the file in turn... one writing out parent records and the other inserting the child records after each parent.

The script looks like this:

Code Block
Dim outFile As String
outFile = Dts.Connections("TestFile.LDIF").AcquireConnection(Dts.Transaction).ToString()

Dim sw As New StreamWriter(outFile, True)
sw.WriteLine()
sw.WriteLine("dn: " & Dts.Variables("GroupID").Value.ToString())
sw.WriteLine("changeType: add")

sw.Close()

I have to close the connection every time because the other script uses the file. It seems that this is quite inefficient. Am I using the File Connection Manager incorrectly? What's a more appropriate way to do this?

I could open the file in a different script and store the StreamWriter object in a global variable, I suppose...

Thoughts, suggestions?

Thanks.

J
