Find Values From String In A Single Cell

Jan 10, 2014

I have a program which feeds back information to a table within my database. The annoying thing is that only 1 of the table cells has all of the information I need so essentially I have a large string of data I need to retrieve values from.I retrieve my cell with a simple select details from alerts where ID = (alert number).The results I have are as follows:

[INFO] Dashboard Output Information:
[LastUpdated]
Time=09:59
[LastProcessed]
LastProcessed=*2911
Updated=09:59
[LastReceived]
LastReceived=#10
Updated=09:59

As you can see I have a list (its larger but this is a sample), the only thing I need are the values for each section so for last processed i want the 2911 so I can use it on my dashboard and the last received I want the 10 for that section.i have read about using substrings but am really not sure where to start and how I'd go about getting these values to then use elsewhere?

Single String Replace Logic - 0 Needs To Be Ignored For Decimal Values

May 10, 2012

The string column value looks like as below. Each value has a size of 15 withing a string

'2.2020 30 4.0000'

The column value should match with user input as below. The result should show equal when it is compared. Currently, it results not equal since it is a string comparision. The last digit '0' needs to be ignored for decimal values.

'2.202 30 4.0'

I need to handle the decimal values in such a way, if staring value with '.' and last digit is 0 then replace with space ''. So, it should look like

'2 2 2 30 4 ' = '2 2 2 30 4 '

When this string is compared, it results in EQUAL.

I tried the below logic, which even replaces the integer value like 30 to 3 and 3000 to 3 and results in equal which is incorrect.

RTRIM(REPLACE(REPLACE(RT1.rate,'''+@DOT+''','''+@S PACE+'''), '''+@ZERO+''', '''+@SPACE+''')) = '''+REPLACE(REPLACE(@Rate,'.',' '), '0', ' ')+''' '
Ex:'2.2020 300 4.00' = '2.20200 30 4.0'

After replace, string looks like

Ex:'2 2 2 3 4 ' = '2 2 2 3 4 '

It results as EQUAL which is incorrect. I need only decimal value to be replaced not integer.

I am looking for a single string replace logic.

SQL Server 2012 :: Replace All Values In String With Values From Look Up Table

Mar 19, 2014

I have a table that lists math Calculations with "User Friendly Names" that look like the following:

([Sales Units]*[AUR])
([Comp Sales Units]*[Comp AUR])

I need to replace all the "User Friendly Names" with "System Names" in the calculations, i.e., I need "Sales Units" to be replaced with "cSalesUnits", "AUR" replaced with "cAUR", "Comp Sales Units" with "cCompSalesUnits", and "Comp AUR" with "cCompAUR". (It isn't always as easy as removing spaces and added 'c' to the beginning of the string...)

The new formulas need to look like the following:

([cSalesUnits]*[cAUR])
([cCompSalesUnits]*[cCompAUR])

I have created a CTE of all the "Look-up" values, and have tried all kinds of joins, and other functions to achieve this, but so far nothing has quite worked.

How can I accomplish this?

Here is some SQL for set up. There are over 500 formulas that need updating with over 400 different "look up" possibilities, so hard coding something isn't really an option.

DECLARE @Synonyms TABLE
(
UserFriendlyName VARCHAR(128)
, SystemNames VARCHAR(128)
)
INSERT INTO @Synonyms
( UserFriendlyName, SystemNames )

[Code] .....

Single Quote In A String

Mar 9, 2006

Hi,

i am trying to add a single quote to a string. This is a must because i am making a full select statement in which i need the single quote to compare values. Obviously this breaks my string invalidating my query.

ej:

SELECT avg(tabla.ip_trend_value) as valor, FLOOR(Cast(tabla.ip_trend_time AS FLOAT)) as tiempo
FROM TESTLAB5.dbo.CE02_L21_916AI31_43 tabla, TESTLAB5.dbo.CE02_L21_916XI31_4 t2
WHERE t2.ip_trend_value = 'Alimentacion Digestores' and t2.ip_trend_time = tabla.ip_trend_time
group by FLOOR(Cast(tabla.ip_trend_time AS FLOAT))

and this will become something like this.

SELECT @TableName = 'TESTLAB5.dbo.'+@TableName
SELECT @SQL = 'SELECT avg(tabla.ip_trend_value), FLOOR(Cast(tabla.ip_trend_time AS FLOAT)) FROM '
SELECT @SQL = @SQL + @TableName
SELECT @SQL = @SQL + ' tabla, TESTLAB5.dbo.CE02_L21_916XI31_4 t2'
SELECT @SQL = @SQL + ' WHERE t2.ip_trend_value = '@NombreVar'and t2.ip_trend_time = tabla.ip_trend_time'
SELECT @SQL = @SQL + ' group by FLOOR(Cast(ip_trend_time AS FLOAT))'

the @NombreVar is the equivalence of 'Alimentacion Digestores'.

is there something i can add or change to make it work ?

How To INSERT A String That Contains Single-quotes?

Dec 28, 2006

My code results in SQL statements like the following one - and it gives an error because of the extra single-quotes in 'it's great':
UPDATE Comments SET Comment='it's great' WHERE UserID='joe' AND GameID='503'
Here's the error I get when I try this code in SQL Server:
Msg 102, Level 15, State 1, Line 1Incorrect syntax near 's'.Msg 105, Level 15, State 1, Line 1Unclosed quotation mark after the character string ''.
I need to know how I can insert a string such as 'it's great' - how do I deal with the extra quotes issue? is there a way to ecape it like this 'it/'s great' ? This doesn't seem to work.
Here's the code that generates the SQL. I'm using a FCKeditor box instead of a TextBox, but I got the same error when I was using the TextBox:
string strUpdate = "UPDATE Comments SET Comment='";strUpdate = strUpdate + FCKeditor1.Value;//strUpdate = strUpdate + ThisUserCommentTextBox.Text;strUpdate = strUpdate + "' WHERE UserID='";strUpdate = strUpdate + (string)Session["UserID"];strUpdate = strUpdate + "'";strUpdate = strUpdate + " AND GameID='";strUpdate = strUpdate + Request.QueryString["GameID"];strUpdate = strUpdate + "'";
SqlConnection myConnection = new SqlConnection(...);SqlCommand myCommand = new SqlCommand(strUpdate, myConnection);
try{myCommand.Connection.Open();myCommand.ExecuteNonQuery();}catch (SqlException ex){ErrorLabel.Text = "Error: " + ex.Message;
}finally{myCommand.Connection.Close();}

I'm using SQL Server 2005 and ASP.NET 2.0
Much thanks

Store Multiple Values In A Single Value

Nov 6, 2005

was hoping someone couild provide some insight into a problem I'm trying to solve.

I have a table called SEARCHCRITERIA. It consists of a USERID column and a CRITERIA column. Users will be able to search for other users based on a set of criteria. There are 5 total criteria a user can choose. They can choose as few as none or all five. I'd like to store the criteria chosen as a single number in the SEARCHCRITERIA table. Then use a function to parse out the criteria. For example:

CRITERIAID CRITERIA CRITERIAVALUE
1 AGE 2
2 SEX 4
3 GRADE 8
4 LOCALE 16
5 REGION 32

A user performs a search based on AGE, SEX, and LOCALE. I would then store the value 22 (the sum of 2, 4, and 16) in the SEARCH table. I would then need a function to pull out the three individual values.

Has anyone done anything like this before?

If so, any help would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

How To Create A Matrix Of Values From A Single Table

Aug 28, 2013

I'm a real novice user and I we use SQL Server. I have a table called TableLog that has the 4 columns. The first column is repeated x number of times for each value in the second column. I'd like to see this information put into a matrix where I could tell if there are any missing intersections. In addition, I need to insert a WHERE clause that says "BETWEEN 20090000 AND 20100000" for the first and second columns.

Example data in the table:

ID1 ID2 MRSSI
100 200 63
100 300 63
200 100 63
200 300 63
300 100 63

Desired matrix: P = Pass and F = Fail

100 200 300
100 n/a P P
200 P n/a P
300 P F P

From the example data, there's no intersection for 300 and 200 so a F is displayed.

Concatenate Values From Same Column But Different Record In Single Row

Mar 26, 2008

Hi, I have a difficult case that I need to solve. I will try to be the very clear explaining my problem:

I have a sql query which brings me many records.
This records have a column in common which have the same value (COL1)

There is a second column (COL2) which has different values bewteen these records.
I need to concatenate values from the second column in records with same value in COL1. And I need only one record of the ones that have the same values. If two records have the same COL1 value, only one row should be in my result.

Let me give you an example:
COL1 COL2
RECORD1 1-A HHH
RECORD2 1-A GGG
RECORD3 1-B LLL
RECORD4 1-B MMM
RECORD4 1-B OOO
RECORD5 1-C NNN

Me result should be:

COL1 COL2
RECORD 1-A HHHGGG
RECORD 1-B LLLMMMOOO
RECORD 1-C NNN

It is clear what I need? I dont know if I can solve it through sql or any function inside SSIS.
Thanks for any help you can give me.
