Saving Data To A Database File Via Simple Form

Hi,
I am designing a site using Visual Web Developer, CSharp and Sql server Express.
One the contact page I want to put a form that allows users to enter details about
themselves. On clicking the button this will be stored in the database under a table
called subscribers. The form will have, name, address, telephone, email fields etc.
With the email addresses from the visitors I want to be able to keep them in
a newsletter section or similar which is automated so they recevie emails from time to time
Could somebody suggest a tutorial which shows how to complete this process
using c sharp and sql.

Hi,
I have a problem loading data from a flat file into a DB2 Dtabase by using the OLE DB Provider for DB2.
I read the data from a flat file in the unicode format and as soon as the data is to be written in the DB2 database the following error occurs and the loading process is aborted:

Error: 0xC0047022 at Data Flow Task, DTS.Pipeline: The ProcessInput method on component "OLE DB Destination" (842) failed with error code 0xC0202009. The identified component returned an error from the ProcessInput method. The error is specific to the component, but the error is fatal and will cause the Data Flow task to stop running.

I dont know waht those error codes meanand I tried so many things already. The tables in the database are created correctly and also, SSIS can read the data from the database if I use the preview function, but somehow, the program never starts to write data into the database for some reason. Can anyone help me???

HI every one,
I am pretty mcuh new to sql and I read all your previous replies..I jsut have my questions answered.If you can help me that would be great!
I can acces the date base using Server manager then retireve the data using the query .But now I need to convert that obtained the data into csv file n then save it into csv file.
IF you can help me out that would be great.

I have binary files inside my database. and user should have the opportunity to download them from database to his computer. I don't want to retrive and save the file into the server first and then let him to download. is it posible???

I am brand new to SQL. Have limited coding experience w/ Visual Basic and database ops w/ Access.
I have come into possession of a SQL 2005 database. The problem is that the designer tried to re-invent the wheel and code a very very poor LMS back end for tracking and reporting. I would like, if possible, to save the database and as far as I am aware - should be able to import into Access and generate statistics and reports to my hearts content.
I have tried w/out success to save the database going through SQL Server Management Studio Express.
Any help or information that could be provided would be appreciated. Any additional information that I can provide, please let me know.

Im using MS visual web developer. I have created a website and used the database they set up by using admin tools. One page requires the take the users comment and to save it into the database. I've tried a formview and connected it to the database which worked. the problem is i cannot save whatever the user types into the textbox. {insert query didnt work with this set up }INSERT INTO aspnet_Membership(Comment) VALUES ('CommentTextBox.Text') Error: cannot set userId or to null. and if i make it allow nulls its going to move on to the next column. I would appreciate some help please. Thank you in advance.

I have a web page (Visual Studio 2005, Asp.net 2.0) that has a series of textboxes and dropdownlists on it. I want people to be able to enter their information and click submit. When they click the submit button I want their information to save to a Sql Server 2005 database. I am having a lot of trouble finding any information on this topic. Heres my requirement from a financial analysis im doing...I have just calculated an industry averages on financial ratios...Now i wanna upload this industry average to the system...so that I can compare it to the individual companies' averages after calculating a particular company's average; meaning i wanna be able to call the industry average of a particular ratio (eg Current Ratio) after calculating a company's corresponding ratio...Is there a code fragment i can use for this ?? Very basic question here but I need to add a form to a page so it adds content, its as simple as that. I've done this kind of using a <asp.Formview> tag and it works, but becuase I think I've used a form view I have to click add to insert data first. Should I be using the <asp:formview> tag or is it a problem with the templates?

I'm trying to wrap my head around inserting values into a table w/ SQLDataSource. What I'm trying to do is have a form where users can submit their feedback and their responses would get put into a table on the backend. It would store not only their comments, but their userid, the url that they were on last, and which area they're from. The trouble is, I have no idea if I'm coding this correctly. Heya Everyone !I am new in Asp.net - I've read tutorial at this page, but i have some problems.I want to have a login form at my website. I also want that login form is checking if user is in a user table (database). I mean simply login form - you write login and a password, than click button - site execute query (select * from user_table where user_id=login and user_password=password or something like this). But I have a problem with building this all code with sql connections. Can someone tell me how can I send query to my sql database ? And how can I display it? And once more - how set the cookies, but thats the other problem.

Hey folks I realize this forum is more for people who have a basic knowledge of SQL...but if anyone can help I've got a task I'm trying to complete for a friend's webpage. I'm trying to figure out how to build a basic feedback form fer his students to be able to post on his page what they thought about his class and what they would suggest to make his class better...kinda like a guest book in a sense. No need for login information or anything of that nature, just a simple "put your name here, put your feedback here" kinda deal. I greatly appreciate any help anyone can toss my way. In my current project we are dealing with a lot if Infopath forms of all sizes and complexities. currently they are being saved in Forms library of sharepoint.
We need to build a warehouse for SSRS which receives data either from content database or from infopath forms submit with minimum latency.
I thought of few alternatives, but, not sure which is most robust and economical.
1. Built c# classes to parse XML of infopath forms and then push data to SQL using ADO.net and SQL stored procedure while item is being added (ItemAdding) to Forms Library.
2. Use CAML queries to extract XML from forms library and then continue with C#/ADO/SQL..
3. Use SSIS APIs and webservices to massage XML and put it to SQL at ItemAdding event
4. Use CAML queries to generate XML files and stage it to FTP and rest will be done on SSIS.
I am currently looking for feseability information based of Besy Known Practise. Please feel free to suggest a totally new approach, if available.

let's say I have a table named "myTable" in a SQL database:
UniqueID
FirstName
FamilyName
1
Elizabeth
Moore
2
Chris
Lee
2
Robert
McDonald's
I want to create a SQL query should contain a parameter for example:
SELECT * FROM myTable WHERE UniqueID = @TextBox OR FirstName = @TextBox OR FamilyName = @TextBox,
and when I type in my TextBox the ' * ' character, it should retrieve the whole table...
hope anybody understood, will be happy to explain more.

Hi ,I have set up my database to be using "Simple" mode. Have a database that's in "Simple" recovery mode whose .ldf has grown to 270GB. Â This database is a data warehouse so "full" is not required. Â I put it in simple mode a month ago and shrunk the log down and now it's filled up the disk.Â
What steps can I take to mitigate this in future? Â I've read that this is caused by long running transactions which fill the log for DR purposes. Â Should I put the database back into full mode and backup/truncate daily. Â
The auto-growth is set to 128MB which is very low.Â

Greetings, I have just arrived back into the country (NZ) and back into ASP.NET.
I am having trouble with the following:An attempt to attach an auto-named database for file (file location).../Database.mdf failed. A database with the same name exists, or specified file cannot be opened, or it is located on UNC share.
It has only begun since i decided i wanted to use IIS, I realise VWD comes with its own localhost, but since it is only temporary, i wanted a permanent shortcut on my desktop to link to my intranet page.
Anyone have any ideas why i am getting the above error? have searched many places on the internet and not getting any closer.

I'm creating a website in asp.net, the main point will be to upload/download and watch video's/pictures and voice notes. I was going to go about on saving them to sql, but when I started researching I found that it is not a good idea to use sql for videos? Majority that I found said that it is more suitable with saving them to a file, but the problem is that there can be thousands of video's,please explain the difference of sql and file saving to me?how to do it as I have never worked with videos before so no idea how to begin saving and on..

I am storing my Compact Database .sdf file in Team Foundation Server while we develop on it. It is really frustrating that it is stored as a binary file. (This means that only one developer at a time can effectively work on it.)
I have yet to find a way to script objects from the .sdf file. Is there a way? I would like to find a way to store this file as SQL so that my team can work on it simultaneously and scripting it and storing it seems the best way.
If anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them.
