at the end of my ssis package flow, i want to invoke a sendmail task.
now, when configuring the sendmail service, i see i can only enter the name of my smtpserver. however, i see the task fails, probably because a user and a password is missing (i have it, but don't see where to type it in the SSIS).
(i want to use the smtp server of my internet provider)
I'd like to access to a SendMail object with an ActiveXScript. I access it by the Tasks property of the package object. I can retrieve the name or the description but I cannot access to the specific properties of the SendMail object (fileAttachments, ccline, ...) How can I do it ?
I have a sendmail task following a data flow task. How can I set "To" attribute on the sendmail task before running it ? for example, read a config table and detemrine who the mail should be sent to...
Hi all--I am writing a DTS package looking to back up all databases in sequence from a specific instance of SQL Server. I am calling CDOSYS in a stored procedure from support.microsoft.com to send email upon failure. I have two types of SQL tasks I am writing into the DTS package:
1. backup database <database> to disk = '<drive>:<path>.bak' with init
2. Upon failure of a particular database to back up to file, execute the following SQL task:
SELECT @srvname = @@servername select @db_name = db_name() set @msg = 'Hi--check your database backups. The ' + @db_name + ' database backup on ' + @srvname + ' has failed. Thanks--SQL Server';
SELECT @srvname, @db_name, @msg
(Many thanks to Whitney Weaver and SQL_Menace for help with sections of this code)
Upon success of #1 and/or #2, go on to the next database, repeating cycle of the SQL tasks above for the next database in the task. For example, this logic goes like:
1. Back up master database; if fails, send email in SQL task; if either task is successful, goto database #2;
2. Back up model database; ...<etc>.
My problem is the current database set in @db_name. I apparently need to reset this variable for each database that gets backed up, and I can't seem to get these set as values to be passed from SQL Task #1 to SQL Task #2. Any suggestions on how I might achieve this?
Hi, I have a sendmail task in my ssis package. In the From field, if i hardcode my from and to address as user@company.com it works fine and mail is sent. But i want to read the from and to values from a database table. SO i defined the package level variables and getting the values into the variables. SO at From if i specify the variable name it gives a compiel time error"the address in th from line is mal formed. it is either missing @ character or not valid". how do i specify teh variable for from address? I feel, may be i can use expression, but i don't know how to do that. Can anyone help me with this?
I have multiple sequence containers in my package. I only want to have one sendmail task for the failure/completion of the package. If I put the sendmail task in the last sequence container and the first seqence fails, the sendmail task will not be reached and therefore, no email will be sent out.Is there a way to have one sendmail task for all the sequence containers and allow it to send mail regardless of what sequence fails/completes?
Interestingly, even if I use @attachments option by giving a specific file name, then also it is sending the mail in which the contents of the attached file are appended to the mail! Is there anything that I shall configure somewhere to make it behave properly? I am using 7.0 standard edition with no SP.Any help is greatly appreciated.
Server: Msg 103, Level 15, State 7, Line 6 The identifier that starts with 'xp_sendmail @recipients = 'test@test.com' is too long. Maximum length is 128.
When I am executing the following sendmail code,it is apending the results to the mail.Actually, I want the results to be sent as attachment,in .txt format. Any help is greatly appreciated.
I have setup SQL Mail on a SQL Server 2000 (service pk 3a) with outlook 2002.
SQL Mail give me the success message when I test the profile.
When I send a test message to an operator from SQL Agent it works fine.
When I send a message from the Outlook 2002 client (logged in as the Service-SQL domain account), I can send a message without a problem.
However, when I send an xp_sendmail message (xp_sendmail @recipients='email@address',@message='test',@subje ct='test') it tells me 'Mail Sent' in the result window, but the email never arrives or shows up in the 'sent items' folder in outlook 2002.
For example the result of an Execute T-SQL Statement task.
This task does not have a hook-up for variable assignment, the SendMail can take in a variable. How do you pass the result of EXEC T-SQL statement be assigned to the variable in the SendMail task?
Hi, with some help today I was able to get my stored procedure runningand have the results emailed to me. I am trying to send a csv file with 15000 records via the database mail in SQL Server 2014. The problem is that when I open my email the csv only contains 209 records. I have tried the same thing in SQL Server 2012 and it works as expected - it sends the 15000 records in the csv.
I have tested this on several sql servers with 2014 edition on them, and I have the same issue on all of them. The query breaks off at different points on each sever - for example one of them breaks off at 209 records as i said above, another one at 307. The last record always gets truncated at the same place. The csv attachment size it's about 64 kb - which is well below the 4MB limit i've configured the database Maximum File Size bytes parameter.
What i am doing basically is creating a job that is meant to execute a stored procedure and send the results in a csv in an email. The stored procedure is something like:
I am using SQL Server 7.0. We have set up a task which needs exclusive use of database 'EMS_DB' . How do I schedule a task to run kill all processes in 'EMS_DB' just before this task. Any TSQL scripts for killing all precesses for a user database?
I've been playing around with building custom components for SSIS. I've been doing workflow for years (using Java and Oracle). The company I worked for had a framework for publishing data that allowed for user interaction. That's something I'd love to be able to do in SSIS.
Is it possible to create a custom task that interacts with the user at runtime? So, the user starts the SSIS package. At some point, the process pops up a dialog (Windows Form) that asks the user to set a date using a calendar control.
How to define a Input variable in a Execute Sql Task?? I've defined a User::Inicio variable which contains 4 as value.
In Parameter Mappins it has been defined. Then, I've gone to General->Sql Statement and allocated the following SQL Statement: UPDATE CARGAPROCESOS SET FECHAULTIMACARGA = [Inicio] or UPDATE CARGAPROCESOS SET FECHAULTIMACARGA = [User::Inicio]
Anyway, I'm stuck, both did not work Thanks in advance for your comments
I have a user variable , say max_id, which retrieves the max id from a primary key column of a table.
now in Data Flow Task, I have a Derived Column where I am creating a new column which will have the values max_id + 1 for the first record, then max_id + 2 for the second record of the derived column and so on..
and then I am mapping this derived column with that primary key column of the table, so that the new id's are different than the old ones which are already in the table, so there wont be any primary key violation.
I cannot make that primary key column as an Identity column.
my question is how do I increment this max_id user variable everytime ?
I am trying to execute a UDF in an Execute SQL Task within a Foreach loop.
I have an Execute SQL task to get the dataset (Firstname, Lastname, CompanyID) which is going into a full result set called @PendingPar. The Foreach Loop is set to a Foreach ADO Enumerator against @PendingPar and I have created 3 variables at the Foreach Loop scope level called @Firstname (String), @Lastname (String) and @CompanyID (Int32). These are mapped in the Foreach Loop as index 0,1 and 2.
Within the Foreach Loop I have an Execute SQL Task with the sql command
select dbo.udf_GetParTitle (?,?,?)
In the parameter mapping I have Variable Name = User::Firstname Direction = Input Data Type = VARCHAR and Parameter Name = 0, User::Lastname, Input, VARCHAR, 1 and User::CompanyID, Input, VARCHAR,2
Finally the UDF returns a @NewPar value so i have the result set in the execute sql task to Single Row which goes into variable @NewPar. This @newPar will be used later but I cannot get the first bit to work yet.
the error message i get back is
Error: 0xC002F210 at Execute SQL Task 1, Execute SQL Task: Executing the query "select dbo.udf_GetParTitle (?,?,?)
" failed with the following error: "Syntax error, permission violation, or other nonspecific error". Possible failure reasons: Problems with the query, "ResultSet" property not set correctly, parameters not set correctly, or connection not established correctly.
Task failed: Execute SQL Task 1
the initial execute sql task where the dataset is selected works fine but it is within the foreach loop that it fails.
I have a stored proc which evaluates a table of 'tasks' to return the task with the highest priority for a given user - at the same time, once that task has been found - I want to allocate that user to the task.
I have created a stored proc that works...however I'm sure this requirement /pattern is common & I would like some best practice for this pattern of update and select within a transaction.
Here is some sample data:
use tempdb; go if OBJECT_ID('Tasks', 'U') is not null drop table tasks; go create table tasks ( TaskId int identity primary key,
[Code] ....
And here's what my current stored proc looks like;
if OBJECT_ID('pGetNextTask', 'P') is not null drop proc pGetNextTask; go create proc pGetNextTask ( @UserID char(10), @TaskID int output )
I'm making a copy of some tanles between 2 servers.
Server 1 requires a sql login
Server 2 is using Windows Auth.
I have a user on server 1 named "odbc" able to log in.
however my copy task fails, when I drill the error, it's lists the first user in server 1 alphabetically as the failed login???? but in my dts I am specifying the "odbc" user and password.
I think I have a permissions problem on server 1. So my Question, what minimum permissions does user "odbc" need to copy a table?
On server 1 I can copy from northwind to server 2 just fine..but any other db on server 1 causes the weird failure with the wrong username.
In the derived column transformation editor, I have a Derived column name called FileGroupID. I would like to pass in a value for this column from a variable that I have set earlier in the scope. Can someone let me know, how to write the expression that does that and where do I specifiy that expression. I am thinking its the expression field in the derived column transformation editor. My main question is how to actually write the expression, what is the syntax to pull the variable value? Thanks.
Please can anyone tell me if or how I have to cross reference to a user defined variable from a script task in the SQL of a Data Reader Source?
The script task creates a variable for the last Sales Ledger Session. The SQL in the data reader source that updates the DW sales invoice lines file based upon those invoice lines where the session number is greater than the value from the script task.
The SQL command in the custom properties doesn't cross reference back to the variable.
If anyone can help or needs further detail to help please post a resonse.
This problem is a bit weird but I'm just wondering if anybody else experienced this.
I have a package that has file system tasks (copying dtsx files actually). Basically the package copies other packages to a pre-defined destination. Thing is, it only works if one of the packages it is configured to copy has some sort of sensitive data (e.g., a connectionstring with a password), otherwise it reports a success message on execution but doesn't actually do anything. I've checked the forcedexecutionresult and it is set to None for that matter.
Just wondering if anybody else experienced this problem and of course if there's a way to solve it.
OK. I give up and need help. Hopefully it's something minor ...
I have a dataflow which returns email addresses to a recordset.
I pass this recordset into a ForEachLoop configuring the enumerator as (Foreach ADO Enumerator). I also map the email address as a variable with index 0.
I then have a Execute SQL task which receives this email address as a varchar variable (parameter 0) which I then use in my SQL command to limit the rows returned. I have commented out the where clause and returned all rows regardless of email address to try to troubleshoot this problem. In either event, I then use a resultset to store the query result of type object and result name 0.
I then pass this resultset into a script variable to start parsing the sql rows returned as type object. ( I assume this is the correct way to do this from other prior posts ...).
The script appears to throw an exception at the following line. I assume it's because I'm either not passing in the values properly or the query doesn't return anything. However, I am certain the query works as it executes just fine at the command prompt.
My intent is to email the query results to each email address with the following type of data by passing the parsed data from the script to a send mail task. Email works fine and sends out messages but the content is empty. I pass the parsed data as string values to the messagesource and define the messagesourcetype as a variable in the mail task.
part number leadtime
x 5
y 9
....
Does anyone have any idea what I might be doing wrong?
This is my first time to deploy an asp.net2 web site. Everything is working fine on my local computer but when i published the web site on a remote computer i get the error "Failed to generate a user instance of SQL Server due to failure in retrieving the user's local application data path. Please make sure the user has a local user profile on the computer. The connection will be closed" (only in pages that try to access the database) Help pleaseee
I'm using SSIS in Visual Studio 2012. My Execute SQL Task calls a Stored Procedure where I have a TRY-CATCH. Last week there was a problem and the CATCH was executed and logged an error to my error table, but for some reason the Execute SQL Task didn't fail. Is there a setting to make the Execute SQL Task fail when an SP encounters a failure?
