I have written the below code to loop through all of the tables and extract the information however I need to find some way to join the results using PCTimeStamp as the key. I tried to format that in this text box as best I could but I apologize for the result. In summary Table_Number is used as the key to loop through the sequentially numbered tables (with some numbers missing) and extract the required fields from the most recent entry (PCTimeStamp=max).
Other notes: the code as written outputs all of the required data with no error messages but the data column titles are displayed i.e:
id windspeed direction time
1 12 000 1200
id windspeed direction time
2 12 010 1200
...................
looking for
id windspeed direction time
1 12 000 1200
2 12 010 1200

Select From 2 Tables Cause A Loop... What Am I Doing Wrong?
Apr 24, 2006I have two tables that I wish to return values for and populate a text file with the returned values. This part works well, however, I get strange values when I rung the Select statement against both tables.
For example, if I run this statement:
Select count(page_count), sum(Page_count) from Contracts
this will return the values I expect
If I were to add another table to this query then things go crazy. For instance, if I took the same query and added the Maps table to it as such:
Select count(page_count), sum(Page_count) from Contracts, Maps
I get crazy numbers that are many times more then the actual numbers
My goal is to get the page count, number of records for Contracts and number of records from Maps all in one query
Transforming Structurally Identical Tables In A Loop

I created it drag/drop way with hard-coded table names.
Now for the same source and destination connections I'd like somehow in a loop transform 20 source tables of the same structure to 20 destination tables of the same structure providing table names in a loop.
I also have in the package preparation SQL tasks such as dropping destination table if exists, and then re-creation , so it needs to consume a table name as parameter from my loop.
Is it doable ?

This table is not going to ever hold more than 600 records. About 550 will only use the first 3 fields (area_id,name,postcode). Is it advisable to break this into 2 separate tables or given the small amount of content is it ok with some null fields?

If F.parent_id(101)=T.team_id(101) and T.team_id(101)=T.parent_folder_id (101)
then output should come as 'Mobile/c' (this is for f.parent_id=101)
If F.Parent_id=T.team_id and T.team_id!=T.parent_folder_id
then parent_folder_id have to start search on team_id column where it got match and pick the Team_name from that corresponding id
Ex: F.parent_id=202 is matching with T.Team_id (202) but this T.team_id(202) is not matching with T.parent_folderid(200) , so this T.parent_folderid (200) have to search on T.id (200) ,if now T.id(200) is matching with T.Parent_folder_id(200) then it have to give the names from the starting hirache
like phone/tab/b (this is for F.parent_id=202)
Help With Simple Query Involving 3 Tables
Jan 8, 2005Hello, this is probably the most helpful forum I have found on the Net in awhile and you all helped me create a DB for my application and I have gotten kind of far since then; creating stored procedure and so forth. This is probably very simple but I do not yet know the SQL language in depth to figure this problem out. Basically I have a printer monitor application that logs data about who is printing (via logging into my app with a passcode, which is located in the SQL DB), what printer they are using, and the number of pages. I have 3 tables, one called 'jobs' which acts like a log of each print-job, a user table (which has data like Name=HR, Passcode=0150) and table listing the printers. Each table uses an integer ID field which is used for referencing and so forth. Tables were created with this command sequence:

I need display some data in a datagrid (or whatever way I present it) by using a query. I can do simple things and have used a query someone on here suggested for using JOINS, and I understand but I can't figure out how to make this particular query. The most necessary query I need for my report needs to look like this: (this will be from a data range @MinDate - @MaxDate)
Username PagesOnPrinter1 PagesOnPrinter2 TotalPagesPrinted Cost
--------- ---------------- --------------- ---------------- ----
HR 5 7 12 .84
Finance 10 15 25 1.75
So it gives the username, how many pages printed on each printer, the total pages printed, and the total cost (each printer has a specific paper cost, so it is like adding the sum of the costs on each printer). This seems rather simple, but I cannot figure out how to translate this to SQL.
One caveat I have is that the number of printers is dynamic, so that means the the columns are not really static. Can this be done? And if so how can I go about it? Thanks everyone!
Simple Data Extraction From 2 Tables
Mar 22, 2007So these are a couple different interpretations I've made of a statement that needs to return students name's with the OSOS field in the attendcode code column of the attendance table on todays date with an attendance.aperiod column equal to 4.
This first one returns no results at all when I should get about 7 rows or so.....

This one is returning all of the names in the database 6 times each.

I have what should be simple question about related tables in a dataset and using those fields in a report. Here is my simple design.
Order Header -> Line Item -> Line Discount -> Discount Table
Now when designing this report I cannot seem to access the related discount records for the line item. (as more than one can be applied) Every time I try to drag an field from one of the tables in the dataset to my report it automatically adds "First()" onto the field value expression. This seems to work fine for the order header, but doen't even come close to getting the right discount on the line item? I basically need to pass through the Line Discount table to get to the discount name field to put on the same line as my line item data on the report.
I have looked and googled for for an example on this, but have come up short. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Foreach Loop Doesn't Loop

what I would like to do is populate a grid view the a select statement that does the following.
display each empname and empnum in a gridview returning only unique values. this part is easy enough. in addition to these values i would also like to count up all the Thrs for each empname and display that sum in the gridview as well. Below is a little better picture of what I€™m trying to accomplish.

Simple Join Not So Simple
Feb 21, 2007I am receiving funny results from a query. To simplify, I have 2 tables (todayyesterday). Each tbl has the same 8 columns. My query joins the two tables then looks where either of two columns has changed. What is happening is that when checking one of the columns it seems as though sql is flipping the column, causing it to be returned in error.

So what's happening is that the record above is actually the same record and should not be returned. There is a daily pmt column that changes but I am not using that in the query. Aside from that the two records are identicle.

I have the following situation (with a site that already works and i cannot modify the database architecture and following CrossRef tables -- you will see what i mean by CrossRef tables below)
I have:
Master table Hotel
table AddressCrossRef (with: RefID = Hotel.ID, RefType = 'Hotel', AddrID)
joins
table Address (key = AddrID)
table MediaCrossRef (with RefID = Hotel.ID, RefType= 'Hotel', MediaID)
joins
table Media (with MediaID,mediaType = 'thumbnail')
foreach hotel, there definitely is a crossRef entry in AddressCrossRef and Address tables respectively (since every hotel has an address)
however not all hotels have thumbnail image
hence i have hotel inner join AddressXReff inner join Address ..... however i must have
left outer join mediaXref left outer join media
the problem is that if there is no entry in Media or mediaXref, I don't get any results
i tried to get over it by using
where (media.mediaTyple like 'thumbnail' or media.mediaType is null)
but then i started getting multiple results for each hotel because media's of type movie or full_image or etc... all got returned
any clue?

Why Would Tables Pulled In From ODBC In Access Be Different Than Tables In SQL 2005 Tables?
Jan 24, 2008I'm new to my company, although not new to SQL 2005 and I found something interesting. I don't have an ERD yet, and so I was asking a co-worker what table some data was in, they told me a table that is NOT in SQL Server 2005's list of tables, views or synonyms.
I thought that was strange, and so I searched over and over again and still I couldn't find it. Then I did a select statement the table that Access thinks exists and SQL Server does not show and to my shock, the select statement pulled in data!
So how did this happen? How can I find the object in SSMS folder listing of tables/views or whatever and what am I overlooking?

Also we have 4tables where we store the calculated data fron those normalised tables.The Reason we have these 4 denormalised tables is when we try to dothe calcultion on the fly, our site becomes very slow. So We haveprecalculated and stored it in 4 tables.The Process we use to do the precalcultion, will get do thecalculation and and store it in a temp table. It will compare the thetemp with denormalised tables and insert new rows , delte the old oneans update if any changes.This process take about 20 mins - 60mins. Ittakes long time because in this process we first do the calculationregardless of changes and then do a compare to see what are changed andremove if any rows are deleted, and insert new rowsand update thechanges.Now we like to capture the rows/columns changed in the normalisedtables and do only those chages to the denormalised table , which weare hoping will reduce the processing time by atleast 50%WE have upgraded to SQL SERVER 2005.So We like to use the newtechnology for this process.I have to design the a model to capture the changes and updated onlythose changes.I have the list of normalised tables and te columns which will affectthe end results.I thought of using Triggers or OUTPUT clause to capture the changes.Please help me with the any ideas how to design the new process

And I know for a fact that 'XL' is ProductSize in my _ShoppingCart database. Whats even stranger is that my delete statement is being executed. So @ProdId is Being set correctly, but when it gets to the IF @ProdSize = 'XL' it doesn't get executed for some reason. If @ProdId is being recognized correctly in my DELETE statement, why is my @ProdSize not being reconized correctly in my IF statement. I checked my _ShoppingCart database, and my ProductSize is definitely 'XL'. Can any one see what could be going on here. Thank you, Alec
