Single Checkbox Possible When Report Parameter Is Yes Or No?

it looks like a multi value parameter is the only kind of parameter that displays a checkbox.
A single checkbox for yes/no parameters are more intuitive to my users than 2 choices from a query.
I tried to set the multi value attribute on such a param but at run time get errors from a couple of places 1) expressions that reference such a parameter, seemingly confused about the value field being allowed to be either an object or an integer 2) unchecking the checkbox causes a prompt demanding that a value be set.
Does anybody have a trick or see what I am missing in trying to make a parameter act like a single yes/no checkbox in just one line of a dropdown parameter list?
I have a report where I'm showing a list of users to select. When previewing the report, the width of the field is automatically set to the largest label in the dropdown list. But when I change the parameter to have "Multi-Values", then the width is set to a fixed value and a horizontal scrollbar appears. Does anyone know how to have a "Multi-Values" parameter, but keeping the lasgest width of the labels in the dropdown list ?
I have a fairly complex report that was given to me that was hard coded for single parameters. There is a dropdown for each market (created from a query in SSRS). The users have to run for each market each week.
Is there a way to use this report as a Sub-report inside a list of a master report and then use a mult-value parameter?
I want this multi-value parameter to build the values for the list and then run the "sub-report" for each value.

I have a report running with both a db and Analysis services data source..When I change any of the multi-valued parameters a post-back is done and then the page is re-loaded all good. However. When I change one of the single value parameters a post-back occurs however the page said "Report parameter values must be specified before the report can be displayed. Choose parameter values in the parameters area and click the Apply button." If I THEN press APPLY the report loads perfectly with the selected option.
I have un-hidden ALL my parameters and they all seem to get values.. Does anyone have any clue what could be going wrong ?
I use xml to create a checkbox control on a filter page. The reports runs when it is checked. However, when the checkbox is unchecked it complains about the parameter missing. Any solutiion?

I plan to pass a multivalued parameter from my web application to the server report, and let user select the value(s) from the value set. But when I run the report, there's no checkbox leftside of the values, that means user has no choice on this parameter.
I am using SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services. Right now, I have a textbox with 0 or 1 values in my report and I want to show a checkbox: checked for value 1 and uncheck for 0. Is there anyway to add a checkbox in the report?

I am using an Report viewer to view the report in my web application. So is it possible to have 2 - 3 check boxes that will populate thru the webapplication, in my report viewer and still use the report from the report server.. For eg. I have a report in which one parameter has with multiple selections (List of CheckBoxes). SSRS automatically adds a "Select All" value as the first option. I'm showing a User Type list, but for example, usually the user running the report will be selecting two or three sets of "User Types" (*), then I named those selections and put them in the list also. The list looks like: "Select All" IT Users (*) HR Users (*) Programmers DB Analyst... etc...
What I'm trying to do is that when the user selects "IT Users" (per example), then the options "Programmers" and "DB Analyst" will be checked automatically, because they belong to "IT Users" group.
I would like to be able to adjust the multi-value property of a parameter based on the value of another parameter in my report. The controlling paramter would be binary with two options for Single or Multiple selection. I would like my parameter to default to multi-value, which I can do on the screen selection. I have tried to add an IIF statement to the XML code, with no success. Any ideas would be helpful.
1) I have a report with many parameters that I want users to be able to pick from. Allow them to pick 1, many or all to build their report dynamically. I'm all set on the TSQL side, but on the Reporting Services side I have to allow each parameter to be null with a default of NULL. In by doing this, the report will auto run, which I do not want to happen. The only resolution I've found thus far was by adding a parameter that does nothing, with a NULL default value. Yet It sticks out like a sore thumb on the report and I want to get rid of it. If I check in "Hidden" in the parameter options, my report errors out stating that the parameter requires a value.
2) Is it possible to have a parameter that has available values from a dataset have a NULL checkbox like those of parameters that do not have available values?
3) Is it possible to add back/forward buttons inside of a report instead of just at the report header by default?
When passing the prameter values to a linked report, I want to set one of the parameter at the linked report to "Select All", this was added automatically to the parameter list when multivalue report parameter is used . How to set this "Select All" as a parameter or can it be done? Thanks
The version of Report Builder I have will only let me choose from a very limited range of layouts. For example, the tabular layout displays a single table on a page.
Is there a way to produce a report containing two tables and other fields?
For example, I would like to create a very simple customer report with customer name and address at the top, then a table containing all contacts I have for the the customer (a 1:N sub-table of customer) and then a second table containing all the orders from the customer (a 1:N sub-table of customer).
Is this possible in the current version of Report Builder or is it planned in a future relase?
P.S. I know this is easy in VS Report Designer but I specifically want to do this in Report Builder. The Report Designer client is simply too complex for my non-technical user base. Report Builder would be ideal.

Inside my business Intelligence Project I created: -the shared data source with the connection String - a data set : CommandType = Stored Procedure Query String = schema.spCreateReportTest When I run the Query by mean of the "!" icon, the parameter is Prompted and based on the value I provide the proper result set is displayed.
Now I move to "Layout" and my undertanding is that I have to create a report Paramater which values is passed to the SP's parameter... So inside"Layout" tab, I added the parameter: Name allow blank value is checked and is non-queried
the problem is that when I move to Preview -> I set the value into the parameter field automatically created but when I click on "View Report" nothing has been generated!!
I had thought that this was possible but I can't seem to figure out the syntax. Essentially I have a report where one of the parameters is populated by a stored procedure.
Right now this is easily accomplished by using "exec <storedprocname>" as the query string for the report parameter. However I am not clear if it is possible to now incorporate User!UserID as parameter to the stored procedure. Is it? Thanks
I have a report parameter called para1 which is a drop-down list and what I want to do is display another report parameter based on the para1 selection.
So for example, para1 contains a, b, c choices. if a user selects b, I would like para2 to display but if the user selects a or c, I don't want the para2 to display.
I'll go to a dataset, open up the query designer, add a new parameter, then refresh the fields, but the parameter won't be added as a report parameter. If I go to the dataset properties under the list of parameters, the value in the dropdown will be blank. However, sometimes this will automatically add.Â
Is this a bug in Visual Studio? How do I get around this?Â
I have an application that needs user parameters for some reports, and it allows them to enter any amount of said parameter, so the query is built like this:"Select ... Where ParameterColumn IN (" + txtParameters.Text + ")";the parameters textbox only allows numbers and commas to be on the safe side of SQL injection. now, due to this the query has to be built dynamically in the code behind page. is there any way to use a single parameter to add all of those values? and set the parameter to the text in the control during design mode to the datasource control?something like: Select ... I am looking for a simple way to do multiple values in one single parameter in my simple Stored Procedures. Let's say for example I have a column called RoomNumber and the value data type is INT. Here is my Stored Procedures:

By default, All Markets should Select. IF Client select only two markets, then report should display only two markets data. I wrote query like this,
I have created a menu report listing available reports and am setting the Jump to settings of each text box in the list to take the user to the relevent report. But I am having a problem setting up drill down to reports with multivalued parameters.
What I want to happen when the user drills down is for the report to open up with no parameter values selected. This works for single value parameters where I have set Null as the default value. But I have not been able to figure out how to do this with MVPs. Does anybody know if this is possible?
As a workaround I have been using Jump to URL (rather than Jump to report), which has no problem opening the report without having to pass any values for the MPV. But I do not like using this as I use different DEV/UAT and PROD environments so would have to amend the URL for each environment.
Seems like this should be possible... Any idea?

PS: I should add I can Jump to reports with MVP without specifying a parameter in development studio but not when the report is published.
Hello I created a table adapter with the following query select * from building where buildingname in (@param1) I used the query builder to the test the query and it works ok if I pass a single value ex: name: @param1 value: Building1 but when I use the value: Building1, Building2 then it doesn't return anything If i do a direct sql: select * from building where buildingname in ('Buiding1','Buiding2') returns many rows. Now I have a class that has the following function<System.ComponentModel.DataObjectMethodAttribute(ComponentModel.DataObjectMethodType.Select, False)> _ Public Function getBuilding(ByVal building As String) As myDataSet.buildingDataTableReturn adapter.getBuilding(building) End Function When I call this function I try to pass the building value sorta like dim building as string = 'Building1,Building2' and it doesn't work. I tried a whole bunch of variations. How are you supposed to format the parameter string? Thanks Peter
I am writting the T-SQL using some parameters. One of the parameter is to display the ZoneID which has about 2100 records. So I declare the parameter (called it @ZoneID varchar(max)).
Now, how do I make all the value available for multiple selection? For example, if I execute the query, I can put the ZoneID (for example:) YH09, TR45, TTS0.
Here is my simple stored proc. Right know I only can execute with one value at the time but I am trying to run the stored proc with more than one value.

OK, I'm pretty sure that the answer to my questions is "no", but the boss is pushing, and I thought I'd double check.
I want the selection of one report parameter to decide what shows up for another report parameter. Specifically in my case it has to do with dates. I have narrowed the results down to monthly dates, meaning that the starting dates always start with mm/1/yyyy and the ending dates are always mm/31/yyyy (for a 31 day month).
The boss wants the ending dates to always be >= the month of the starting dates. So, if the user choose 1/1/2007 for starting, the minimum ending date would be 1/31/2007, etc.. Since the parameters are loaded at report initiation, and SSRS isn't really event driven, I didn't think this was possible. I just wanted to make sure before I tell the boss that it's not. Please advise.
I am working on reports in SSRS 2008 (not R2)... There are some reports with parameters that are hidden when the report is accessed through normal URL using ReportViewer.asx..The thing is that these hidden parameters need to be visible when the report is accessed using SSRS Report Manager.

I set them to their default values (ReportParameterTime to "[Czas].[Kalendarzowy].[Rok].&[2007]" - means Time Calendar Year 2007) but I am getting the exception above. I set parameters using this code:
Where parameterValues is a List<ReportExecution2005.ParameterValue>.
When I am using Microsoft.Reporting.WinForms.ReportViewer the report is generated without any problems. I can see one parameter to choose: "Kalendarzowy" (means adj. Calendar) and can select years, the default value is "2007".
What am I doing wrong and how can I fix this error ? Does anybody know ?
Hi, I'm having problems navigating from one report to another one if the second report has a multi-valued report parameter. When I navigate to the second report, I don't pass any parameters, but I get an error "parameter is missing a value" for the multi-valued report parameter. I have it setup as allow "multi-value" and "blank value". Any idea what the issue might be? Thanks.
