I'm not able to browse through http://localhost/reports.

I am working with the IT department at a client site trying to hook into Oracle. We are using Windows Server 2003 64-bit, SQL Server 2005 Standard 64-bit, Oracle 10-g 64-bit and Linux Red Hat 64-bit. All service packs are current.
We are working on a data warehouse project where we need to import Oracle information periodically throughout the day and integrate it in a central location with data already residing in SQL Server. This is the first time I have tried to pull data from Oracle. The databases in Oracle and SQL Server that we are pulling data from are third party application databases.
My client cannot connect to Oracle using Crystal ODBC connections. When we use either the .NETor OLEDB connections, we get the "client tools need to be installed" message. We do have the client tools installed on the WIndows Server that SQL Server is installed on. We can connect to Oracle from this locattion using Aqua Data Studio and SQL *PLUS. I checked and there is only one tnsnames.ora file on the server. I used the name from there to try to connect using SSIS. Still no luck.
I did see somewhere that there is a possible issue with 64-bit installations. We really need to get this connection working.
I'm having a problem connecting with a Java application but I CAN connect using my .Net application - the user name and password are the same for both (using the same database on SQL Server Express 2005).
The error I get is: "com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: Cannot open database "CORNERS" requested by the login. The login failed." An interesing note - I get the same message if the database is not running.
SQL Server Express 2005 is installed in mixed mode.

I have some SQL CE database .sdf file on my handheld, and I was trying to connect to that file via SQL Server 2005 Management Studio, and it does not work. I am wondering if there is any good tool that I can use on desktop to connect to sqlce .sdf database file on my handheld?
Hi, I have VS Pro 2005 and SQL Server Express 2005 installed on an XP Pro machine. When using VS 2005, in the 'Server Explorer' window I can see and attach to two SQL Server databases that I have set-up. But if I attempt to access the same databases from withn the 'Solution Explorer' window I get the following dialog box message,

I have uninstalled and then reinstalled both VS 2005 and SQL Server Express twice but it has helped.
I don't understand why I'm getting this error because all of the server configuration tools and connection utilities seem to work fine but VS say's that SQL Server Express is not installed.

P.S. I had another application that required MSDE 2000A to be installed. When I removed the other application I also removed MSDE 2000A and that's when the problem began.
I am having a problem with connecting to SQL Server 2005 database from Office Business Scorecard Manager 2005 (the connection string i am using is: provider=SQLOLEDB;Data source=server_name; Initial catalog=database_name). But the connection failed. Would please any experts here shed me any light on what is the problem and how to fix it then? As there is no any forum for Office Business Scrorecard manager 2005. Therefore I post my thread here as it is related to the connection to SQL Server 2005 database engine, thought here is the best place for this question.

I've used Sql Server 2000 and Visual Studio 2003 for a few years. I've started a new position and they have access to Sql Server 2005 Standard and Visual Basic 2005 Express which I'd like to use for a new project. So I installed Sql Server 2005 and then VB 2005 Express on my workstation. I didn't choose the Sql Server option for VB Express because I already had Sql Server 2005 Standard installed with a simple database created. I created a simple vb project that justs connects to the database but I get the following error.

I've installed, with default settings, VS 2005 and Server 2005 Express and cannot get VS2005 to connect. This is the error:
Unable to open the physical file "..path...mdf". Operating system error 32: "32(The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process."
I shutdown Server 2005 but that didn't change anything. Any ideas?
I have installed MS Visual Web Developer 2005 Express Edition on my Notebook (WinXP Pro SP2). And it's working fine. Then I tried installed SQL Server 2005 Express Edition SP1. There is no error during installation and it seems to be working as I can see the SQL Server (MSSQLServer) service is running. As SQL server configulation manager., the protocal shared memory , named Pipes and TCP/IP are enabled.
But when I want to add connection using VWD 2005 by pointing to datasource (MS SQL Server database file and selecing file from .mdf file from SQL sample database file. Then test connection, I got a error that "An error has occurred while establishing a conneciton to the server. when connecting to SQL server 2005, this failure may be casued the the fact that under the default settings SQL server does not allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Interfaces, error: 26- Error locating server/instance specified)

Hi, I have a report in one folder in Report Manager. Let's call that the 'base' report. I've created a linked report with that 'base' report to another folder. When I go into Visual Studio BIDS, change the report and deploy it to Report Manager, only the base report changes. The linked report does not change.
Is this by design? I thought linking reports gave you the ability to have a base report and numerous other linked reports, all of which would also change if you changed and redeployed the base report. Is that not the case?
I have created a "read only" login on the SQL 2005 database server with rights to the public role with grant connection rights. When I use the "read only" username in Crystal Reports, the database does not show in the dropdown box. When I give "read only" sysadmin rights, all databases appear. I do not want "read only" to have sysadmin rights, is there another way around this that would truly give "read only" read-only rights?
I need to move few folders from our DEV SSRS 2005 environment to another server. Folders will be moved to new parent folders. Is there any tool that I can use fot this purpose? I used RSScripter from SQLdbatips.com. Although the tool works great but it can't script multiple folder reports. I have to script one by one and it is a big problem.
I am trying to access some SQL 2005 reports externally from the network, however when i try to open the reports i get the following error -

I had a report (.rdl) using sql reporting services in sql server 2005, where it was running quite good. I have just installed sql server 2005 sp2. After that, when I run the report through report viewer, the result of the report contains the first record of the dataset keep on repeating for all other records. If I run the dataset the results are correct,but if I preview it, then the first record alone repeating for all other records.
I feel that sp2 might cause this rendering problem. Any suggestion please?
We have sql 2005 setup pulling sharepoint list data and we have created a report from this data. We can view this report through sharepoint internally however when we try to view the report externally we cant view it?
I had a report that exported to PDF just fine before installing SP2 and now it is completely messed up. The report consists of a table that has two header rows (the report is basically a calendar). First Header Row is Month - merged across all 7 columns, Second header row is day of week. The next row is a row containing the date and finally the last row contains the actual data that is populated into each day. It is a sub-report in each cell of the row. It used to export fine but after applying SP2 it exports to pdf like this:
1st page is the first header row (Month) - Nothing else on the page
2nd page is the 2nd header row (Day of Week) - Nothing else on this page.
3rd page is the 1st row of actual dates - Nothing else on the page.
4th page is the data that goes to that 1st row of dates on the 3rd page, this page all all following pages are fine and show the row with the date directly above the data row with no page breaks in-between. There is nothing in any of the controls forcing a page break (remember, it worked fine up until SP2 was applied).
What did the SP break? I am unable to modify my report now so that it exports to PDF correctly. What the heck???
This seems to be a basic issue, but I am having a problem trying to deploy a report to Reporting Services.
I have setup the deployment options under the properties of the Project. But each time I try to deploy a report, I get "The request failed with HTTP status 504: Gateway Time-out"
When I try to connect to connect directly to the TargetServerURL via a web browser from my client or the server itself, I can browse the structure fine. Not sure why I can't deploy via Visual Studio.
I had developed my reports using SQL 2005 reporting service. While crerating the report i set the page size to 8.27in Width x 11.69in Height. I am calling this report in my aspx pages using report viewer.
But the problem is I can't able to set the size of the page to A4 size. When i set the size of the page to A4 while printing the page is divided into two pages.
Is there any way to override the print option in reportviewer where we can set the page size to A4 ?

I have set up our webserver along with the database in one machine, (machine1) and the SQL 2005 Reporting server in another (machine2). When a page hosted in machine1 is accessed:
1. The page uses a reportviewer control to fetch and show the report. 2. The reports are fetched from machine2. 3. machine2 inturn fetches the data from DB setup in machine1, populates the report and sends it back to the report viewer in machine1.
The problem I am facing is that whenever a report related page is accessed from machine1 it comes up with the below error:
"The permissions granted to user 'machine1IUSR_machine1' are insufficient for performing this operation. (rsAccessDenied)
We recently did an "in place" upgrade of SQL Server and SSRS 2000 to 2005.
After the upgrade we cannot view the exisiting reports. (although we can publish new reports using the VS2005 Designer and they show up just fine.)
We have SP2 installed for SSRS2005 and all SPs for SQL are up to date.
When we navigate to an existing report via the reporting services website, the report acts like it is trying to run and then returns and error message:

When we look at the logs we see that the report server cannot initialize the stream from the Catalog table.
