I have received the error message "Package migration from version 8 to version 6 failed".I have developed a SSIS package with Visual Studio 2013 which gives me PackageFormatVersion of 8. I then deploy my package to the ssisdb catalog that is running on a SQL Server 2012, this works fine but when I try to execute the package the error arises…due to SQL Server 2012 has a PackageFormatVersion of 6 and it can’t run something that has a greater version.I haven’t seen any good solution for this but one that would work for me would be to upgrade the Integration Services Server from 2012 to 2014, leaving everything else in 2012 (database, ssms, ssas, ssrs).Would this solve the package format problem? Would I then be able to execute my packages in the ssisdb catalog?

The commands I use:
Package pkg = new Package();

Under the Installed Products section it reads:

Once we promoted the package to a production server it runs fine. I can also run the same package from my machine without issue. So, I'm pretty sure that it's specific to his machine, but I have no idea where to start looking.
Any deas where this error comes from?
Hi, all,
I am having a question about SSIS. Is it a totally new product in SQL Server 2005 or it is a upgrade version of previous version DTS? Thanks a lot for any guidance for that.

Hi,
I'm a little confused now on when I need to install SSIS services, according to the following
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms345193.aspx
I don't need to have SSIS service installed on my sql server to run SSIS packages as jobs. So I've now deployed my packages to our live clustered SQL server, and I even have a package that runs to a point.
So basically the package imports some data then reprocesses a dimension on the cube, it imports the data ok, then fails to process the cube with the following message
Description: The task "Process Cube Dimension DimFiscalPeriod" cannot run on this edition of Integration Services. It requires a higher level edition.
Now the SQL server is enterprise edition, so do I really need to install SSIS on this server or not ?
Thanks for any help in advance

I am trying to load data from Excel 2007 version into SQL server 2014 DB. I am getting below error" SSIS Error Code DTS_E_CANNOTACQUIRE CONNECTION FROM CONNECTIONMANAGER. The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "Excel Connection Manager" failed with error code 0xC0202009. There may be error messages posted before this with more information on why the AcquireConnection method call failed".I have tried all options like changing Delay Validation is TRUE and in properties i changed runtime 64 bit to FALSE but still getting above error.
View 3 Replies View RelatedHi All,
I am little new to 2005 so this may be an easy one. I have a IS package that I created on my local 32 bit machine. I have copied this package to one of our servers running SQL 2005 EE x64. The package executes fine until it gets to a VB Task at which point it errors with the message of "The Task "DefalutValues" cannot run on this edition of Integration Services It requires a higer level edition"
Is this a known bug/error that you can not build on a 32bit machine for a 64bit machine. I have set the precompilescriptINtoBinaryCode value to true.
If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.
Thank you.
Hi
We are using SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition. I have SSIS package which uses 'Data Mining Query Task'. I am using this task to run the predictions using the mining model I have deployed. When I run this SSIS package from IDE , everything is fine. But I deployed this SSIS to msdb, and when I right click on the package and run it from MSDB I get error message saying ,
'Cannot run this task in this edition of Integration Services. It requires higher level edition'.
Altimately we want to execute this SSIS from an API which is written in C#. Can you please suggest any workaround for doing so?
Thanks,
Vikas
Does Sql server 2005 standard edition support Sql server integration services and SSRS. i saw two conflicting information.
And what is the difference between Integration services with basic transforms and integration services advanced transforms.
Please recommend.
Hello,
I am using Compact Edition in a fairly large C# application being developed using Visual Studio 2005.
I downloaded Compact Edition in August 2007. The file version of all of the CE dlls: sqlceca30.dll, sqlcecompact30.dll, sqlceer30EN.dll, etc. is
3.0.5300.0
The installation file that I downloaded to install Compact Edition is "SQLServerCE31-EN.msi", which to me implies that it is Version 3.1.
Now, however, if I go to the Compact Edition downloading website, everything refers to Version 3.5.
In fact, the title of the download page is
"SQL Server Compact 3.5"
The word "edition" seems to have been taken out of the name. It also appears that the version I downloaded in August 2007 is no longer available.
I cannot find any information about the differences between the August 2007 version that I am running and the current Version 3.5.
I have a couple of questions:
What happened here?
Is there any risk in moving from the August 2007 version to "SQL Server Compact 3.5?
I will appreciate any help you can provide.
Thank you,
WTW
We currently have access to another department's SQL server. However they are taking that server offline within a few months, and we will need to migrate our data and DTS packages to a new solution before then. We have about 30 databases and 20 somewhat simple DTS packages, but only a few users need access. Funding is very tight.
SQL 2005's support of DTS is somewhat of a mystery to me. Docs state with 2000 Enterprise client tools installed + Express edition, that I can run DTS packages on Express edition. But the docs do not state the procedure for doing so, and I cannot register the Express server in the Enterprise manager(states must be using 2005 version of Enterprise manager). It seems I can Design a DTS package that resides on the 2000 server and specify a connection to the Express server, but the DTS package would not run, stating always that the table was in use, and I haven't explored it any further. May have just been a quirk.
I'm trying to conquer this in two pieces:
Cheapest solution for graphical design of DTS packages, or some techniology similar(I think I understand that this is called SSIS in 2005?). This would be needed by 1-4 users.
SQL 2005 Developer Edition for each user, only about $50 per user.
MSDE for each user, but can this house DTS packages and be connected to by enterprise manager?
Cheapest solution for data access and ability to run DTS packages by 2-10 users.
If SQL Express Edition is used to house data, can the DTS packages be distributed in some way that allows the users to run them? I.E. exported as VB code or some sort of file that can be loaded by an Access 2002 or VB.NET frontend.
Can all users have Developer Edition or Desktop edition and run the DTS package from it, but have the DTS package connect to the Express Edition server where the data is housed? Or would this be a violation of what the Developer Edition is intended to be used for?
Any other suggested scenarios are welcome.
Are we allowed to continue using the 2000 Enterprise manager after we no longer have access to a licensed SQL 2000 Enterprise server?
The feature comparison for the different 2005 editions doesn't mention DTS, but I know it works for some editions if the add on components are installed. I'm just not sure which versions support this.
Hello,
I want to learn if it is possible to develop applications for SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition using .NET Compact version 1.0. The major doubt is the possibility for version 1.0. It is reasonable to deliver SQL Compact Edition redistributables with an application, but this is not great to require ,NET 2.0.
Many thanks.
Hello,
I have a computer thats running XP 64 bit version. I want to replicate between SQL server 2005 and SQL server 2005 compact edition. But it doesn't works. So i looked for a solution and i came to:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/912430
This page is telling me:
You cannot replicate data from SQL Server 2005 to SQL Server Compact Edition by using the 64-bit version of IIS
Is that a problem that can be solved by not using a other Operating System?
Or can you maybe install a 32-bit IIS on XP 64 bit?
SQL Server 2005 full version is installed on a server computer. I installed MS VS 2005 Express edition on the server. As VS 2005 Express edition can only access to SQL Server 2005 Express edition, so a SQL Server 2005 Express edition has to be installed on the server. I wonder if both SQL Server 2005 full version and Express edition can be installed in the same computer.
Thanks,

I am trying to download SQL Server Express Edition in Germany however the site does not allow me to choose the language of the download. How can I get English version of the software in Germany?

this is the link that I am trying to download.
We downloaded and installed the trial software of SQL Server 2005 Enterprise edition a month ago. We have purchased a fully licensed version of SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition and would like to apply the licensed version to our workstation clients since their SQL software will eventually expire. Our SQL Server is not an issue since we purchased a new Server and installed the new licensed version of SQL on it.
Is there an easy way to accomplish this or is an uninstall & reinstall of SQL on every workstation required?
Thanks,

Hi,
I can't seem to find which SQL Server Compact Edition version is pre-installed on the Windows Mobile 6 rom.
I guess it is 3.0, but I'm not sure about it.
Another question is, if I use SQL Server Compact Edition 3.5 by deploying the .dll files as part of my application's CAB installer, will this be a problem for Windows Mobile 5 or Windows Mobile 6?
Thank you in advance,
Hello friends.
I managed to design an Integration service package, but the desired level of performance has not been achieved(i.e it is performing slow).
So I want to know what are the best practices for optimized solution .
In my package I'm exreacting data from XML file and Storing it in SQL server database with some processing dring data flow.
I'm using
1) Two Script Task Control -In these control,I m opening the connection to XML file through VB.net code and
iterating each record at a time.
2)Two OLE DB Command -Each fetched record from script task component is processed in OLEDB command through
stored procedure and then inseted into database.
3)One for Loop -This loop contains two script Task control and two OLEDB Command control,
(mentioned above),for fetching single record and inserting it in database.
4)One derived Column
5)One Multicast
6)One Character Map
7)One OlEDB Source
As with my current performance I'm able to insert one record in every .5 second (Which is much below to acceptable limits)
Is control lying disabled on SSIS designer pane also affect the performance of execution.
I just received my licensed disks for upgrading my SQL Server 2005 Evaluation version to a fully licensed version. Do I simply run the two disks over top of the evaluation version or is it a little bit more complicated? Any input would be greatly appreciated. A little new to SQL.
Thanx
Chad
Hi,
I have just install SQL 2005 SP2 and trying to get Window SharePoint Services V3 integrated with SQL 2005 SP2 reporting services.
In SharePoint Central Administration, I select the Reporting Services Integration page and have setup the Report Server Web Service URL and Authentication Mode. I then goto Grant database access, specify the SQL server name, get promted for a username and password that has access SQL Reportserver and get the following error "The group name could not be found"

Hello, I have a problem when trying to fully process an SSAS database using Integration Services "Analysis Services Processing Task" task. I have 2 of these tasks which are responsible for processing the Dimensions then the Cubes. When I run the package either via the BIDS environment or on the local server from the Integration Services engine, I will get an error after about 20 minutes stating:
"Error: Memory Error: Allocation failure. Not enough storage is available to process this command""Error: Errors in the metadata manager. An error occurred when loading the <cube name> cube from the file \?D:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.2OLAPDataMyWarehouse<cube file>.xml"
The cube name is not specific, it will fail and any of my cubes could be in the error log
If I fully process the AS database using the AS engine (logon to local AS server, right-click AS database and click Process), I get no errors at all, it processes and completes fine. The processing options are identical when I run in AS or via the SSIS "Analysis Services Processing Task" task.
I've searched quite a lot online but no joy, the information I have gleaned from various sites does not directly link SSIS with SSAS processing problems.
When either the AS processing starts via SSAS or SSIS the memory usage of MSMDSRV.exe increases to around 1.4 / 1.5 GB but never goes to 2GB ever, even when the error appears.
I've done the following with no effect.
" Have run via AS and works fine
" No specific cube it fails on
" Have created a Dimension only package, same problem
" Changed the maxmemorylimit
" Changed the connections to localhost
" Memory DOES NOT max out on server

How could I know the version of Reporting Services in my machine?

HI, can anybody help me?
I have a problem. With the sqlserver 2005 sp2 some behavieur are differt from previous versions.
For example with service pack 1 there isn't the "select all" option for multi value parameters, so i add MY select all, but with service pack 2 there is the "select all" option for multivalue paramteres, so when my reports are running under a server with service pack 2 in the list of multivalue parameter I'm going to find "Select all" and "MY select all"
It is possible to know at runtime under which version my repors will be running? so I can use or not MY select all. (i cannot force client with a particular version)
Thank in advance
Hi All,
1. Whether I'm working on in Layout, Data or Preview (Reporting Services 2005) for any report
the toolbars I select disappear when I click on close. In Tools, Customize, I have check marks by: Formatting, Query designer, Layou,Build and Standard among a few others. I tried the reset button but no help as well.
What am I missing? Should they be visible and not grayed out?
2. Also, Is there an easy way to tell what verion/service pack level SQl server 2005 and of MSSRS 2005 I am running?
Thanks in Advance !

Hello,
Does anyone know the steps I need to take to update the version of reporting services from C.0.8.40 to C.0.8.43?
My connection error occurred during my attempt to move a database from one server to another using detach and attach. After successfully attaching the databases to the new server I got the following error:
The version of the report server database is either in a format that is not valid, or it cannot be read. The found version is 'C.0.8.43'. The expected version is 'C.0.8.40'. To continue, update the version of the report server database and verify access rights. (rsInvalidReportServerDatabase) (Report Services SOAP Proxy Source)
Thanks for any help you can provide!
Hi, all here,
Would anyone here please guide me how can I check the version of reporting services installed? My problem is in my virtual machine, both SQL Server and SQL Server 2005 are installed, but I can create report in the vistual studio 2005 IDE, but cant deploy it to the reporting server database, in addition, I cant connect to reporting services database in SQL Server 2005 management studio.
Is it possible to install two different versions of reporting services in the same virtual machine? Please anyone here give me some advice for that. Thanks a lot.
With best regards,
Yours sincerely,
Where can I get a trial/evaluation version of Sql Server 2005 Reporting Services?
I dont have SQL SERVER 2005 Installed on my Pc.
Our new version of a VB.net 2005 program uses
Install Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition
While upgrading a client over PCAnywhere in another state, I inadvertantly installed
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition with Advanced Services
I have had an absolute nightmare with SQL 2005 uninstalling it from a laptop on my desk, so you can understand why I don't want to try uninstalling the Advanced Services version on a computer over PCAnywhere.
However, the remote computer does not have IIS on it, which prompts a warning form Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition with Advanced Services.
So, the simple question is, if the program works Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition then I assume it will work with Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition with Advanced Services, since it doesn't use any advance services.
Please advise.

Hi
I installed RS 2005, SP1 and then the rollup fix 2153 however; if I run http://server/reportserver or view the reportserver log file, it shows version 2047 which is the SP1 version. I have added the tail end of the rollup hotfix log file which shows I have installed it.
Is this a known issue?
