When I inspect the type of parameter on my machine its ok.. SqlDbType its DateTime... and runs perfectly...
Why it doesnt work when i publish on server???????
Hello, since a couple of days I'm fighting with RS 2005 and the Stored Procedure.
I have to display the result of a parameterized query and I created a SP that based in the parameter does something:
SET ANSI_NULLS ON SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER ON CREATE PROCEDURE [schema].[spCreateReportTest] @Name nvarchar(20)= ''
AS BEGIN
declare @slqSelectQuery nvarchar(MAX);
SET NOCOUNT ON set @slqSelectQuery = N'SELECT field1,field2,field3 from table' if (@Name <> '') begin set @slqSelectQuery = @slqSelectQuery + ' where field2=''' + @Name + '''' end EXEC sp_executesql @slqSelectQuery end
Inside my business Intelligence Project I created: -the shared data source with the connection String - a data set : CommandType = Stored Procedure Query String = schema.spCreateReportTest When I run the Query by mean of the "!" icon, the parameter is Prompted and based on the value I provide the proper result set is displayed.
Now I move to "Layout" and my undertanding is that I have to create a report Paramater which values is passed to the SP's parameter... So inside"Layout" tab, I added the parameter: Name allow blank value is checked and is non-queried
the problem is that when I move to Preview -> I set the value into the parameter field automatically created but when I click on "View Report" nothing has been generated!!
I have simple query which creates tables by passing database name as parameter from a parameter table .
SP1 --> creates databases and calls SP2--> which creates tables . I can run it fine via SSMS but when I run it using SSIS it fails with below error .The issue gets more interesting when it fails randomly on some database creation and some creates just fine .
Note** I am not passing any database of name '20'
Exception handler error :
ERROR :: 615 :: Could not find database ID 20, name '20'. The database may be offline. Wait a few minutes and try again. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SPID: 111 Origin: SQL Stored Procedure (SP1) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Could not find database ID 20, name '20'. Possible failure reasons: Problems with the query, "ResultSet" property not set correctly, parameters not set correctly, or connection not established correctly.I have sysadmin permission .
I have an SSIS package that runs fine through command pormpt although when I try to run it from a SQL Servr Agent Job CmdExec step it bombs out. Please help this has me stumped...the SSIS package uses an XML connection string so certain key settings such as connection strings and email info can be changed easily. Currently this is all on the same machine. I have not moved it beyond where I am developing.
On the command line I am using the following command...

I have a very complex Stored Procedure called by a Job that is Scheduled to run every night. It's execution takes sometimes 1 or 2 hours and sometimes 7 hours or more.
So, if it is running for more than 4 hours I stop the Job and I run the procedure from a Query Window and it never takes more than 2 hours.
Can anyone help me identify the problem ? I want to run from the Job and not to worry about it.
Some more information: - It is SQL 2000 Enterprise with SP4 in a Cluster (It happens the same way in any node). - The SQL Server and SQL Agent services run using a Domain Account that have full Administrative access. - When I connect to a Query Window I also use a Windows Account.
- There is no locks or process bloking or being blocked while the job is running. - Using the Task Manager the processor activity is ok, no more than 30 % in any processor.
I have SQL Server 2000, and our web application is in WebObjects.
I built a trigger on a table that indicates if certain fields in a record have been changed since the last time a report was run from the application.
This trigger runs fine through the Query Analyzer, and runs fine with a direct input through enterprise manager. However, when the WebObjects application tries to update the table, and error is thrown.
Is anyone familiar with a reason why an application would throw an error on an update, when the DB tools do not? If we disable the trigger, the application has no problem updating the table.
Here is the relevant portion of the trigger:
create trigger t_press_run_change on dbo.press_run_line_item for insert, update, delete as
updatepress_run_line_item setis_changed = 1 from deleted d join press_run_line_item p on p.press_run_line_item_id = d.press_run_line_item_id where(p.is_changed = 0 or p.is_changed is null) AND ((isNull(p.print_quantity,0) <> isNull(d.print_quantity,0)) OR (isNull(p.spoilage_pct,0) <> isNull(d.spoilage_pct,0)) OR(isNull(p.ad_dimension_id,0) <> isNull(d.ad_dimension_id,0)) OR(isNull(p.quarter_fold_id,0) <> isNull(d.quarter_fold_id,0)) OR(isNull(p.max_qty_per_shipment,'') <> isNULL(d.max_qty_per_shipment,'')) OR(isNull(p.packaging_max_height,'') <> isNull(d.packaging_max_height,'')) OR(isNull(p.packaging_max_weight,'') <> isNull(d.packaging_max_weight,'')) OR(isNull(p.packaging_skids,'') <> isNull(d.packaging_skids,'')) OR(isNull(p.packaging_turns,'') <> isNull(d.packaging_turns,'')) OR(isNull(p.packaging_cartons,'') <> isNull(d.packaging_cartons,'')) OR(isNull(p.preprint_delivery_time,'') <> isNull(d.preprint_delivery_time,'')) OR(isNull(p.contact_id,0)<> isNull(d.contact_id,0)) OR(isNull(p.address_company,'')<>isNull(d.address_company,'')) OR(isNull(p.address1,'')<>IsNull(d.address1,'')) OR(isNull(p.address2,'')<>IsNull(d.address2,'')) OR(isNull(p.address_city,'')<>IsNull(d.address_city,'')) OR(isNull(p.address_state,'')<>IsNull(d.address_state,'')) OR(IsNull(p.address_zip,'')<>IsNull(d.address_zip,'')) OR(isNull(p.address_Country_id,'')<>IsNull(d.address_country_id,'')) OR(isNull(p.client_printer_id,'')<>IsNull(d.client_printer_id,'')))

I have a stored proceedure (which I will tag on at the end for those interested) which is taking at least 15 minutes to run when executed, but completes in 1 minute when the tsql statement is run in Query Analyser. Why is this?
I suspect that it may be connected to table indexing, but why then is this bypassed when QA is used?
Any advice appreciated.

I have one drop and create procedure script in one sql session and execute the procedure in other session. Now when i am compiling the procedure in first session, it gets completed successfully.
Now when i move to other session and try to execute the procedure, it gives me error saying :

Now when I execute the procedure in same session in which procedure was compiled, it runs successfully. Once run, I go back to my other session and it runs again.
When i run it from sql server data tools on the test box it runs fine. However when i run it from the ssisdb directly i get the below error.

We are debating whether to run the SQL Server service as Local System, a domain user without local admin rights, or a domain user with local admin rights. MSDN recommends local admin rights, but doesn't require them. I would like to get some idea of how the real world handles this. If you run as a local admin, how do you handle the security implications? And if you run without local admin rights, what gotchas have you run into with extended stored procs, replication, etc?

Can someone help us understand the problem? We are new to SSIS. We also want to know exactly what needs to be on the Server that will be running our SSIS ETL programs (that is, what components of SSIS -- SQL Server 2K5 is already loaded).
We are using SQL 2005 on Dell Servers running Win 2003, with the latest service packs. Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services Designer Version 9.00.2047.00
I have an Access 2.0 database that holds call data on a mapped drive. I am running MS SQL Server 2000. I can open it and view the records inside. I can even run the query below and get results, if I removed the CallDate and CallTime parameters.
SELECT CallDate, CallTime, Mid(CallRecordData, 68, 3) AS Extension, 'I' AS Direction, Mid(CallRecordData, 34, 11) AS Called, Val(Mid(CallRecordData, 18, 2)) + Val(Mid(CallRecordData, 21, 2))/ 60 AS Minutes, Val(Mid(CallRecordData, 21, 2)) AS Seconds FROM CallRecords WHERE (CallDate = ?) AND (CallTime >= ?) AND (CallTime < ?) AND (Mid(CallRecordData, 30, 1) <> '9')
When I preview in the Transform Data Task, I get: Package Error Error Source: Microsoft JET Database Engine Error Description: No value given for one or more required parameters.
When I look at the parameters, they are listed. I check their values, and they have the appropriate values (DateCalled, String, 07/14/2005) (StartTime, String, 06:30) (EndTime, String, 07:00)
When I run it in the build query or in Access with a linked table to the source, I can enter the values when asked for them and it works.
The subject pretty much sums the problem up. I am trying to get a database installed on Server 2008 RC0. The public information says SQL 2005 SP2 should work, but I cannot get the base SQL 2005 installed in order to apply the service pack. When I run the installation, I immediately get an error when trying to install the pre-requisites. Specifically, the .NET 2.0 Framework errors with code 87, "invalid parameter".
I have found a couple references to this error code, but nothing to do with Server 2008 and RC0. I have tried using a directory with no spaces, and tried the EXE vs ISO installation, but they everything fails. I don't know if there is a way to bypass the .NET 2.0 Framework install - since it's already on the machine anyway.
Hi, the title of this topic about summarises it. I have a dev-machine with SQL Server 2005 Standard edition on it. My host runs SQL Server 2000. What are my options? Is there some sort of backward compatibility? Can i export as 2000? I have no idea and i can't find anything about this particular problem. Thanks
I am able to select the average, max, etc of the variable in a simple select statement but when I do the following, it doesn't work. The reason I am doing the following is because I am calculating the average and such over a 5 min interval, then saving the output as one line. That is why I condense average, max, min, and stdev into one variable which I then output. why it won't run when I have it like this but will run when it is like this?
will run:
SELECT AVG(NacTemp), MAX(NacTemp),MIN(NacTemp), STDEV(NacTemp) FROM [DATABASE] WHERE [UTCDeviceTimeStamp] between DATEADD(minute, -5, GETUTCDATE()) and GETUTCDATE()
won't run but I need it to:
DECLARE @now datetime SET @now = GETUTCDATE() --Universal Time DECLARE @timeint int SET @timeint = '5' --time interval in minutes DECLARE @time datetimeSET @time = (SELECT MIN([UTCDeviceTimeStamp]) FROM [DATABASE] WHERE [UTCDeviceTimeStamp] BETWEEN DATEADD(minute, -@timeint,@now) AND @now) -- Timestamp data will be saved as DECLARE @comma varchar(4) SET @comma = ', '
I have created a lot of reports using this technique, but this is the first one that doesn't work. As there is absolutely nothing special about it, I can't figure out what the issue is.
I have one dataset that uses parameters chosen from two other dataset results. One dataset result runs just fine and returns values in reporting services, but the other returns blank in reporting services. In Visual Studio, both datasets return data.
I cannot for the life of me figure out what I've done that gives this result as I've never encountered it before and use this method of parametization quite frequently.
The dataset in question doesn't even join any tables, it's a direct select distinct field"1" from table"a".
I am using SSIS packages for data transfer, When i run the package on virtual server it takes more time as when run on a PC. After analysing i found that Package when run on Virtual server takes time in startup around (50 sec) or so.Could anyone help me with a little bit of detail description as to why it runs slow.
I have a VB6 SP6 MDAC 2.8 application talking to SQL Server 2000. Once I'veinstalled this application on my local machine I have been able to move the..exe file to a file server and it runs just fine from there for all my localusers. This is very handy for updating the application without having toreinstall it on each user's machine each time. They just use a shortcutpointing to the file server .exe fileMy problem has become that we have some users at remote locations that VPNinto our network who also want to use this application. When it's installedlocally on their machines, or even on file servers at their locations,everything works fine. However, when they run the .exe off of my fileserver the SQL Server connections times out on the initial connection openafter the default 30 seconds every time. Run from their own desktops orfile servers it connects within 2 seconds every time. This is on bothWindows 2000 and XP Pro machines. Even when I tell the shortcut to usetheir local drive for the working directory the same problem happens.This goes against everything I've seen with server-based files for 15 years.Once a file is loaded in the computer for execution, why does it matterwhere it came from? What "baggage" can an .exe file carry with it that willcause it to not execute when hosted on one server, but run just fine fromthe desktop or another, closer server? The only known difference is thatthe connection speed is much better when I run it locally here to that fileserver.Help.
SServer PC: Win SBS 2003 with 2.6 GHz processor and 1GB RAMSQL Server 2000 v 2000.8.00.76 (sp3)MS Office 2k3MSJet ms04-014 (latest ost sp8)MDAC v2.8 RTMADO 2.1vb6.exe / ADO 2.0I think this is a SQL Server/ADO problem as I have 2 applications withsame problem.My access database uses a timer based function to insert records intoSQL Server using ADO and stored procedures. Access also uses DAO ,Jet/ odbc to linked tables on SQL Server for many other tasks/forms.All is well when Access 1st run but after a few hours or so the Accessapp grinds to a halt.Upon checking the task manager the mem usuage upto 160MB and handlecount upto 86,000 ! (cpu process % is low).After the "Access Fail" if I stop/start access only, performance isnot returned, I have to stop/start SQL Server.It would seem that allconnections from this PC to SQL server are badly affected, it is nottied to the client application that had the problem.As I could not work out where the problem was I took the Accessfunctionality into a VB6 app, using ADO 2.0, thinking this shouldsimplify matters with Jet and ODBC out of the way.I now have the same problem with the number of handles increasing withevery new timer based function.* code snippet example *If Not OpenConnection Then 'we have not been able to open aconnection to SQL serverCall procLog("Connection failed to SQL server")Exit FunctionEnd If'gVar.cnnSQL is my public ADODB.ConnectionSet cmdSQL = New ADODB.CommandWith cmdSQL.ActiveConnection = gVar.cnnSQL.CommandText = "MyDB.dbo.insert_tblMyData".CommandType = adCmdStoredProc.Execute RecordsAffected:=lngRecs, _Parameters:=Array(lngID, dtDate,intCategory,strNationality,strNotes,strName)End With* code snippet *** After the "Access Fail" if I look at one of my clients, running thesame Access app on another PC, it seems normally responsive when usingone my bound forms to browse the data from same SQL Server **Any ideas anyone ?
I have a problem where I have an SSIS package (SQL Server 2005) that won't run properly from SQL Server Agent, but it runs fine when kicked off manually from Integration Services -> Run Package or when run in debug from Visual Studio.
The first step in the package checks for the existance of a file via a script task. The script looks like this...
Code Block Public Sub Main()
Dim TaskResult As Integer Dim ImportFile As String = CStr(Dts.Variables("BaseDirectory").Value) + CStr(Dts.Variables("ImportDirectory").Value) + CStr(Dts.Variables("ImportFile").Value)
If Dir(ImportFile) = "" Then Dts.TaskResult = Dts.Results.Failure Else Dts.TaskResult = Dts.Results.Success End If
Return
End Sub
This script runs fine and the file is seen as expected when I run the package manually. But as a step in a SQL Server Agent job, it doesn't see the file.
The SQL Server Agent service is set to start up / log on as a Local System Account. I've also tried setting up a credential / proxy (using an account that I know can see and even move / rename the file) to run the job as but that didn't seem to help.
The package is being run from SQL Server (stored in MSDB) and is set to rely on SQL Server for sensitive information, so I don't think that's an issue; other packages are set up like this in terms of sensitive data and run fine.
Any ideas why my script can't "see" the file I'm looking at when it's kicked off by SQL Server agent? I've looked and looked...I can't seem to figure this out. I would really appreciate any help you might be able to offer up.
hi, I'm using vstudio 2002, trying to create an C# asp web project, when I select these for a new project it says contacting server to create web project and never quits even after 1.5 hours. I saw in a similar post elsewhere they said the solution is to disable the firewalls - and I did that - and I have norton only, so that is not the issue. IIS is installed as well as SQL server, I can see it running. I have tested successfully a sql connection not long ago using access. Any thoughts? Thanks.
I have a job scheduled that imports a table from a Oracle database. The job runs at 3am and reports success. But for some reason when i query the table to see how many records there are, I see the same row count as the day before (it should increase everyday- student enrollment). When i execute the package manually, the table updates fine.
When I launch Outlook, it takes forever for the program to finally open. With any inbound email, it stops processing whatever is underway at the time....and frequently there is a 2-3 second lag between keyboard input and what appears on the screen. SQLserver is usually consuming upwards of 1-gb of memory....help. Mike
