I need to use SSIS to connect to an FTP server. From there I need to download files to a local folder. I need to download only today's files and also on those files starting with Training or Recruitment. I have managed to set up tasks that copy all but I am having such a hard time writing a script using C# that will download using the filters.

I'm trying to use the MSDN subscriber downloads VPC image for SQL Server 2008 CTP4. There are 4 files listed as 1 of 4, 2 of 4, ... 4 of 4.
When executing the WinRAR self-extracting archive, it runs normally for a while and starts to create a .VHD file but just when it seems to be almost complete, it stops and asks for "c:mypathen_sql_server_2008_ctp_4_vhd_part_1_of_5_.rar".
Since the files were just posted back on 10/9, I thought I would wait and eventually, someone would notice the problem and post corrected files but now it's been over a week and I don't see new files or any mention of any problems.
Is anyone else able to successfully download and extract this image?

I just upgraded my Sql Server to 2008 and I was hoping that the link found in this page would provide the download to SSMSE for Sql Server 2008, but it redirects me to 2005 version. I don't any instances running with Sql Server 2005 that I could access through SSMSE 2005, so I can't use it. Does anyone have the link for download to SSMSE 2008? Or should I downgrade? And if, how can I downgrade?
Thank you very much, sorry by my misspellings.

I have created a new SSRS Server and done all of the basic security setup for the site but I am having trouble with client machine access...At first I had an issue with being able to access report manager from any client and ended up having to shut off windows authentication on the client IE settings to get it to work. Now I am trying to run Report Builder from a client machine and it will not download. The client machine is on the same domain and my user id is set as an administrator within SSRS and as a local admin on the 2008 server.Â
I had the thought that without windows auth in the browser maybe it can't permit me access to the application but if I turn it on I can't get to it to download it. I have set Full Control rights to the folder as well. Most of the info out there is for 2005 and that uses IIS to host the pages where as 2008 does not. Here is the details of the error:
PLATFORM VERSION INFO Windows    : 6.1.7600.0 (Win32NT) Common Language Runtime  : 2.0.50727.4927 System.Deployment.dll   : 2.0.50727.4927 (NetFXspW7.050727-4900) mscorwks.dll    : 2.0.50727.4927 (NetFXspW7.050727-4900) dfdll.dll    : 2.0.50727.4927 (NetFXspW7.050727-4900) dfshim.dll    : 2.0.50727.4927 (NetFXspW7.050727-4900)

Hello people,
Do you know how can do for downloading a file stored in a database?. I'm using a table with a FILE field for storing the file.
I know i have to create a special aspx page for downloading, that receives parameters to locate the proper record in the table and then retrieve the file in memory to start downloading.
I have done this with file located at specific folders but not a database's field.
Another thing... the file may be big.
Dou you have any idea about retrieving from sql and sending the file back to the final user?
I really appreciate your support.
Larry.

Hi!
I am confused ...downloaded Microsoft SQL server 2005 (for reporting services) to my Windows 2002 (32-bit systems), but it asks me to install the service packs as well...
So Windows XP Service Pack 2 is already installed.
And I need to download Windows server 2000 or 2003 R2, but where could I find a free trial version?
Do I also need Asp.net and IIS?
I would be very grateful for some help... to clarify which components needed.

We are needing to apply the Sql Server 2000 Service Pack 1 to a computer that will replace the current server. The SP 1 listed in the technet sql server 2000 service packs page, is unavailable on the download center.
Where can I download the SP 1?
PS. We can't apply a superior patch, since we can't afford any risks related to the upgrade during the limited time window allowed for the migration.
Thks,
Freddy RÃos.

The sizes of the files are very limited (less than 100Kb) so I do not need any special feature to handle the upload/download.Does anyone know how to achieve such feature? Thanks in advance,Joannes

I have a SQL Server hosted on a Win2003 server. I have a monitor on the server letting me know the average download speeds. When I do a large select from a remote connection, it looks like the download rate maxes out at around 10 kb/sec.
Is this an average download rate for a server hosting sql server?

I am trying to demo SQL Server Express
I have downloaded and installed SQL Server Express and also downloaded and installed SQL Server Express Service Release 2. I have also downloaded several of the Visual Studio tutorials about how to do things.
However, I have been unable to download SQL Server Management Studio Express Edition, nor SQL Server 2005 Books OnLine, nor SQL Server Samples so I really cannot do anything with the *#$@ thing.
There are no error messages. The downloads begin and then freeze after downloading about 3-4MB. They stay frozen until they time out. I have turned off all firewalls, virus protection, turned off all security in Internet Explorer. I thought at first it was because I had not yet registered but I registered and it still won't download. What else can be wrong?
I am on XP Prof SR 2, not vista, all my software is uptodate, in order to install SQL Server Express of course I downloaded and installed the required installation program and the Net version 2 Framework. Plenty of disk space, 2 GB of ram, dual processor Dell XPS PC on a DSL connection. I have read the info about reasons for download problems and have checked the bitsadmin service, downloaded the update for it (it told me I already had it) and downloaded the latest version of Windows Support Tools and ran the bitsadmin /util /repairservice /force and it said all was fine. I tried it on a second machine with same results. I am not a beginner, I have been writing code for Access for several years. "Support" says this forum is the only place to go since I refuse to pay them $99 to help me demo what is theoretically a sample piece of free software.

There are a few features in the new SQL Server - Reporting Services that I really need in production. I have tested everything and it works great. I am running the CTP version since Microsoft is saying they aren't releasing the release version until 3rd quarter 2008.
Since Microsoft won't sell SQL 2008 until 3rd quarter, can I run the CTP in production until the release and then purchase SQL 2008?

Hi, I have tried to implement file download option. I can download file which is stored in any folder. Code is... string filepath = Request.Params["file"].ToString(); string filename = Path.GetFileName(filepath); Response.Clear(); Response.ContentType = "image/gif"; Response.AddHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename=" + filename); Response.Flush(); Response.WriteFile(filepath); This code is working fine. But now I am facing a problem. Files (not the path) are stored in database table. User can download file from the database. How can I do this? The file may be a .txt, .doc, .xls, .jpg or .gif.

My team has finally delivered my project in SQL/.net. Everything is great: database, charts€¦ it functions exactly how I envisioned. However, there is a nightmarish challenge: The download & Install process is ridiculous! I don't mind the other runtime stuff one has to download (.net 2.0 etc, which we were able to package and automate), but SQL takes 2hrs to download and then there's a server/client installation set-up that just makes it impossible for regular folk (non-techies) to configure. My SQL developers say there's nothing they can do, so I'm working on converting this to a web version in SQL, while simultaneously redoing the entire desktop version in Adobe Air, which incidentally has a light SQL database embedded - all at great cost to time, resources & my "sanity€?. But I'm saying to myself, if Adobe has a solution for SQL, why doesn't Microsoft have a solution for SQL? Any thoughts, ideas, help?
Cheers,
Charley

Hi all,
I'm trying to download a copy of SQL Server Express 2005 from the Microsoft website at the following link:
http://www.microsoft.com/sql/downloads/trial-software.mspx#EZC
however I keep getting a page displaying a "Content Not Found" message. Would anyone be able to tell me is this the correct page or should I be downloading this from someplace esle?
Also does the Express edition contain a copy of Enterprise Manager?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
