We have been running SQL Server 7 for the past 6 months, with no problems at all. All of a sudden, we have received the error message 17050, that the maximum limit for connections has been reached. We cannot now start Enterprise Manager or do anything. We have tried fiddling with licencing in control panel but to no avail. Does anyone have any idea why this has suddenly happened? Any tips would be great!
We have a big software that run a warehouse distribution center, written in .NET Backhand is a SQL Server 2008 R2 STD database.
Now, it seems there is a problem with the sessions not being properly closed after each call to the DB. Here is the message got form SQL:
DESCRIPTION:A new connection was rejected because the maximum number of connections on session ID 57 has been reached. Close an existing connection on this session and retry.
In the .NET code, connection is made with the following code:
If oConn Is Nothing Then oConn = New SqlConnection If oConn.State = ConnectionState.Open Then oConn.Close() With oConn .ConnectionString = "Server=" & Server & ";Database=" & DB & ";User ID=" & User & ";Password=" & Pass & ";Connection Timeout=" & 5 & ";MultipleActiveResultSets=" & True .Open() End With
This code is called once, at the opening of the software
StoredProc are call with the code: Try oCmd = New SqlCommand With oCmd .Connection = oConn .CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure
[Code] .....
So every Command is closed after execution, yet, they stay active in the SQL Server. Is there something I'm missing here?
I am trying to setup transactional replication between Server A and Server B. There are 265 databases on each server.
I am running SQL Server 2005 on Windows Server 2003. The problem comes in at the 201st database. The message in the SQL Server Agent Error Log is :
Warning,[398] The job (WSSWPG09-EmpirePaint-WSSWPG06-104) has been queued because the maximum number of working threads (400) are already running. This job will be executed as soon as one of the working thread finishes execution.
SQL Server's max worker threads is set to 0. The Distribution, LogReader and T-SQL subsystems have been increased to 200 max_worker_threads.
Is there some other setting (maybe a Windows Registry setting) that can be configured to fix this? Or have I just hit a physical maximum of the processor?
We are running three web sites in a clustered environmentWLBS. The web servers are connected to a Database Serverrunning MS SQL server enterprise edition licensed as perCPU license. One of our production databases was setup mirroring, log shipping and replication on it, the log file was setup unrestricted growth. This morning one index rebuilding process generated lots of logs, and the log file disk ran out of space, the database was in recovery mode. so we had to disable log shipping, pause mirroring and replication, expand log file disk, restarted SQL instance to fix the issue. Now we want to setup the log file to maximum size 80G, the whole log file disk is 120G.
So if the log file reached 80G next time, we can change the max size to 90G or 100G and it's easier to fix the space issue. My question is, if the database  log file reached max size,
1. is the database still available? 2. Will the active session causing the issue be rollback to release space back?
Hi,Can anyone tell me if he ever got this issue and how he get the solution. In my asp.net 2.0 application i close always ma connexions to sqlserver in the finally clause (the open is in the try); I open 1 ou 2 connecxions per aspx page, i close them always (in the finally clause or at the bottum of the form). Sometimes, the application is down with the messageCan not open a new connexion, max pool size is reached !!!!I host my application on a remote server, i have no performance issues, only this great problem !!!i cant view the status of connexion on the sqlserver, so what can i do, or how shoud i develop my connection.thanks in advance to all of yuo who will help me.Imed.
I have a master package that executes a series of sub packages run from a SQL Agent job. One of those sub packages has been stable for a week, running at least once per day, but it just failed despite having been run once already today with the same set of input data.
There were a series of errors showing in the event log for the Execute Package Task starting with "Buffer Type 15 had a size of 0 bytes.", then "The buffer manager failed to create a new buffer type.", then "The Data Flow task cannot register a buffer type. The type had 32 columns and was for execution tree 3.", then "The layout failed validation." and finally "Error 0xC0012050 while loading package file "C:[Package].dtsx". Package failed validation from the ExecutePackage task. The package cannot run.".
SQLIS.com reports the constant for the error code as DTS_E_REMOTEPACKAGEVALIDATION ( http://wiki.sqlis.com/default.aspx/SQLISWiki/0xC0012050.html ).
I then ran the package on my dev machine in BIDS and it worked fine, so I re-ran the job on the server and this time that package executed ok, but another one fell over but did not put anything in the event log.
I'd like to replicate an SQL Server Database to an SDF file. For Simplicity I want to use the SQL Server 2005 Management Console. The Console reports that the maximum buffer size were to small. In the comment (c# code) I can see it is set to 512. How can I increase the value in the replication assistant?
Hi, In m*y SQL server 7.0, when using Performance, I see in graph: Buffer Catche Hit Ratio Counter (SQLServer Buffer Manager objects)always is maximum (100). What does this mean ? What's the Buffer Catche Hit Ratio? How do I configure SQL server to performance? Thanks in advance.
We have a production server that is configured to 100 user connections. Without any reason, the maximum connections had been exceeded and users can no longer access the sql. But if you sp_who , it displayed only 4 user connections. Since, I have an open connection before this error happens, i was able to execute sp_who. This happened 4 times since we installed the sql server. the version is 6.50.422 sp5a with hotfix.
To all gurus out there, can you give light into this problem?
I have a Windows 2003 Server. Planning to use SQL Server to act as the main Database Server which needs to cater to over 100's of simultaneous connections.
Can anyone share with me the default maximum simultaneous connections and the maximum allowed simultaneous connections for the following versions:
- MSDE - 2000 - 2005 Express - 2005
Hope I can get more professional advice from you guys.
Newbie here.I've got my database set up in SQL 2000, and have started an Access adpfor a front end. I have 10 licenses, and at the moment the onlyaccesses are the server through Remote Desktop and one person into theADP. I started getting ODBC timeout errors when running a complexquery, so I started poking around. In the logs there's messages sayingthe maximum of 10 user connections has been reached, over and overagain. I'm not even certain that these problems are related, but itdoesn't look good. Why are all 10 connections used when there's only the server and oneclient? No one else has access to this server. And how can I stop theODBC timeout? That paticular complex query is the whole jsutificationfor using SQL over Access, so I kind of need it to work. :)Thanks in advance, maddman
I have a Sqlserver 6.5 production server used for web based applications Compaq 5500 4 GIG RAM, 4 processor
Sql Memory config on that server is 1048576 (which is 2048 MB) and the run value is 640000 (which is 1250 MB). runvalue for user connections was 500
We have only 90 user connections may increase upto 100 depends on the connections. We don't have any overload on that server.
Error: I was seeing "unable to connect maximum no. of 500 configured user connections are already connected" in the error log.
Action Taken:
I increased the user connections to 600 and rebooted the server. Immediately the same error I can see in the error log. But we have only 20 user connections at that time. I can able to connect.

1. PhoneID is nothing but the participant in the call. PhoneID = 1 is twice from above. Which means 2 particpants (Same call )with 2 numbers with their callstarttime and callendtime. Similarly for PhoneID =2, there are 4 participants. And the list goes on for a day and then for a month.
2. For example a phone call P1 with 2 participants is going on for a particular day. We should not consider the same phone call having 2 participants involved. So that the concurrency would be 2. We have to ignore that here.
3. Only to be considered is other Phone calls for that day. Lets say P1 having call with 2 participants, P2 having some 4 participants which fall in the time period of P1. Then we should consider P1 and P2 the common period
4. In order to find number of concurrent calls happened for a day basing on callstarttime and callendtime. What would be the query?
5. Should consider the Timeperiod or the bucket with 1 hour as the period.
6. A Phone Call P1, Phone Call P2, should have matching (common) time ( keeping all the scenarios) is required for this query.
Result for Concurrent calls for a day should be like below. Should get all the concurrent connections happened for a particular day.
Date|TimePeriod/Bucket(hr part)|Concurrentconnections| Jan-01-2015|01 to 02|3 Jan-01-2015|11 to 12|2 Jan-02-2015|04 to 05|5 Jan-02-2015|12 to 13|13 ........
ii) So once the above is achieved.
Have to find the Maximum concurrent connections for day from the above.
For below Maximum Concurrent connections are '3' Date|TimePeriod/Bucket(hr part)|Concurrentconnections| Jan-01-2015|01 to 02|3 Jan-01-2015|11 to 12|2
Hence the Result for Maximum Concurrent Connections would be
Date|TimePeriod/Bucket(hr part)|MaxConcurrentconnections| Jan-01-2015|01 to 02|3 Jan-02-2015|12 to 13|13 .............
I've implemented an SQL-CLR stored procedure which makes an HTTP connection using the WebClient class to a server where the processing on the web server takes 10 seconds.
If I fire off a bunch of requests to the stored procedure, e.g. 80 in 1 second I noticed that SQL Server 2005 (Express Edition) only allows 2 concurrent network connections at a time.
I can confirm this by looking at the timing of the results when they come back, basically I get 2 results every 10 seconds and by doing a 'netstat -a' on the web server I notice that there are never more than 2 HTTP connections from the SQL Server at a time.
Is this some sort of sheduling policy in terms of the number of concurrent external network accesses allowed by CLR objects running in SQL Server? Or some side effect of the way the WebClient class blocks in terms of waiting for a network response?
I was expecting all 80 of the requests to block waiting on a network response almost immediately and then for all 80 of them to pretty much complete and return 10-11 seconds later.

I am trying to transfer the data from flat file to sql server. When I am running the package on local server(network server) it works fine. But when I use it to transfer the data to online server it starts and shows 2771 rows transfered and remains on that only, dosent stop or give a error. When i stop the execution I get the following errors:

I have a package that runs fine by itself. But when I run it inside a Foreach Loop container on a parent package, I got a buffer error after a few loops. Here are a couple of the error lines:
A buffer failed while allocating 49085616 bytes.
The attempt to add a row to the Data Flow task buffer failed with error code 0x8007000E.
I already played around with the Data Flow task€™s DefaultBufferMaxRows and DefaultBufferSize properties, and I am still getting the error. Just wondering if there is a memory leak or something with the Foreach Loop task. I haven€™t install SP1. Maybe SP1 fixes this issue?

is there anyone know the solution of that problem and please dont tell me to use extra memery or a hardware solution as this option is not available.
I am running Data Flow and it fails on the OLE DB Source. Source has 13 fields in the table. One of the field is text (blob, comma delimited string - can be big) which creates a problem. This data flow runs fine with smaller amout of data. In this case Source table has 200,000 records.

I also tried to use 3 other temp paths by setting the BLOBTempStoragePath to a semi-colon separated list of paths and it did not help
When i am trying to configure Mirroring .i am getting the below error.
The server network address "TCP://RDEEPA:5022" can not be reached or does not exist. Check the network address name and reissue the command. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 1418)
. TCP/IP and Name pipe connection is enabled in both principle and mirror server configuration.
I post the complete error message below ,which is in red

I encountered the following error while attempting to preview an RDL report I was developing in VS2010 using SSDT:"The size necessary to buffer the XML content exceeded the buffer quota"
We have a set of reports with same header section in all the reports. So while developing a new report i used to copy that header section to the new report with same dataset names (without any change) , but while rendering the report it is throwing error " The size necessary to buffer the XML content exceeded the buffer quota".
I have a simple SP that returns 2 columns with 4 inner joins, results are about 100 odd rows max, nothing complicated. When I run the SP via SSMS it works fine, as soon as this is run via an application server the SP fails to complete with the error :
Internal error: An expression services limit has been reached. Please look for potentially complex expressions in your query, and try to simplify them.
We are not getting anywhere near the expression limit so I cannot understand why we are suddenly receiving this error. 2 weeks ago this query was running fine, no updates have been rolled out to the SQL database servers or application servers but the error is suddenly appearing on both prod and dev environments.
I'm experiencing a completely random warning from any given row count component within any given data flow task. It occurs sporadically. Whilst distracting, I don't see any adverse effects to the data after the packages complete. Can someone weigh in on this warning and let me know if it is indeed benign or what I maybe able to do to fix it?
Here's the warning:
"A call to the ProcessInput method for input 75997 on component "CNT Rows sent for STG table" (75995) unexpectedly kept a reference to the buffer it was passed. The refcount on that buffer was 4 before the call, and 5 after the call returned."
I am working with an application unde mssql 6.5 ,sp4. We have a separate database for reporting on a different box. Each night we load a backup into the database from the production database.
I set up a stored procedure to kill all users connected to this reporting database just before the load.
THe job looks like this under scheduled tasks as a cmdexec:
Process Exit Code 1. ...[-b On error batch abort] [-O use Old ISQL behavior disables the following]<EOF> batch processingAuto console width scalingWide messagesdefault errorlevel is -1 vs 1 [-? show syntax summary (this screen)]
The killusersall is paramaterize sp that I pass the dbid of the database for whom I want all users killed. I need to put the stored procedure in the master because I egt the spid from sysprocesses.
I do not understand why the job died. Does it matter if I named the stored procedure as sp_killusersall instead of killusersall_sp which I used.
Can any one advise me about how to get the job to run? Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thanks you.
I keep getting this error while I run my application. I used to run the application but it was taking to long so I decided to add some stored procedures to it and this error started happening.

Has anyone encountered this error and found a solution? A batch process received this error for the first time last night. We are running SQL 7 on an NT4 server, and the client machine is a Win2K box. The process is a VB application, using ADO to connect to the database. We are using TCP/IP protocol. We were using the Named Pipes protocol in the past, but changed to TCP/IP a few weeks ago, because we kept getting a "ConnectionWrite(GetOverLappedResults)" error, and found information that stated the error was due to the Named Pipes protocol, and the solution was to switch to TCP/IP. FYI, since switching protocols we have not seen the ConnectionWrite(GetOverLappedResults) error, and we used to get it everytime the process ran.
Any help or suggestions are appreciated. If any further information about our systems or the process would help, let mw know and I will provide it.
Step3.Alter database <xxxxx> set recovery full GO Use XXXXX GO dbcc shrinkfile (XXXXX_Log, 200)
Up to yester day my Job ran fine today job got failed at Step1
Executed as user: CLUSTURsa_admin. The log file for database '<xxxxx>' is full. Back up the transaction log for the database to free up some log space. [SQLSTATE 42000] (Error 9002) Could not write a CHECKPOINT record in database ID 3 because the log is out of space. [SQLSTATE 01000] (Error 3619). The step failed
some body help me what to do now, changing recovery model also needs space?(Simple to Full/Full to Simple)
