Jun 28, 2000there is a sql.txt file in my c: which grows very fast when i start sqlagent...it keeps occupying the free space in the drive..can anyone please help?

Import Into Comma Delimited Text File (very Urgent)
Aug 28, 2001I want to join differnet tables and import the data into comma delimited text file. There will be lot of checks like if then else to manipulate data. I want to use stored procedure but don't know how to output to text file. Is there any utility which can be used in stored procedure. In future this will be run as an automated job.

DTS To Write To Text File (fails When Scheduled) (Urgent!!!)
Aug 21, 2001Recently converted from 7 to sql 2k.
Running NT 4.0, sp6a. and sql 2k. I have a DTS job that works just fine if i go to 'design view' and then 'execute' it. But if I schedule it, the following error appears.. My question is... why? Also I modified the path from the current below (denapp02cmc$cd01.txt to the local path of the server as well... still came up with the same problem. ?? TIA! ::

SQL 2012 :: TempDB Log File Usage Constantly Rising And File Keeps Growing?
Jun 16, 2014The TEMPDB transaction log file keeps growing.The database server is new and the transaction log was presized to 1 GB on installation. After installing a number of databases, the log file grew over a day to 38GB. Issuing a manual checkpoint was the only way to free some space to allow it to be shrunk back to a usable size. The usage of the file is still going up.
I am struggling to find what process is causing the log to be used so heavily. Looking at the log reuse wait desc for tempdb returns "Nothing" and tempdb itself isn't being used very much or growing in size.

my log files are growing like anything. One of my log file size is 20GB.
How i have to reduce the log file size.
If i run DBCC command is it come backs...
Pls tell me the way how i have to find the free space and reduce logsizes.
After taking backups also my log file sizes are not reducing.

Growing Tran Log File
May 16, 2006I have a database of 22 gb in sql 2000, my database option is set to full recovery mode, the problem i'm having is the tran log is growing too fast, this morning it was 24 gb, more than the database size. Can anyone help how I can keep it in a managable size?

data file is 3 GB but index file is 12 GB.
Index file is growing big day by day.
This cause performance of DB down.
What should I do to prevent index file become bigger and size of index file smaller?

Log File Growing Uncontrollably?
Nov 8, 2012My log file was 2x the size of my actual Database which is obviously too large on a DEV box. I know that my data can be easily recovered so I actually do not even want/need a log file.
After doing some investigation I found that I should turn my database into "Simple Recovery Mode" and after this I used a few scripts to truncate my log file. Things at this point looked great!
Unfortunately my log File is still growing even with this 'simple recovery mode'. So how do I stop this craziness from occurring?
I even unchecked the box 'allow autogrowth' on the database! However, I eventually get errors when creating records in the system because it complains about running out of room in the log file.

Log File Growing In Amazing Manner
Sep 28, 2004I started my database in last week to user with transfer data from Sybase to sql 2000 server. Intitally log file size was few MB near to 20 MB for each co’s, within 8 days it has reached upto 300 MB still datafile size in few MB , approximately 40MB for each co’s, why log file growing in such manger, how I can manage it?

Transaction Log File 210GB And Growing
Oct 12, 2007I am running Microsoft SQL 2005 Express.
The transaction log of the main database has gotten huge and I just noticed it because the disk is nearly out of free disk space.
The database data file is 46MB and the transaction log is 210GB. This happended because autogrowth was on, and no limit was set I suppose.
So my goal is to knock this thing down to size, and set the max size of the transaction file to like 5GB.
I CANNOT do a backup of the transaction log because I do not have enough free space for such an operation. I tried doing:
DUMP TRANSACTION dbName
No luck, got the following error: Backup or restore requires at least one backup device.
Can I just stop the service and manually DELETE the transaction log file?

MSSQL Log File Is 210GB And Growing

Hello, we are running Microsoft SQL 2005 Express edition (9.0.32).
Recently I just noticed that the database log file of our main database is HUGE. The database data file is only 50MB and the log file is 210GB.
Any idea what is causing this? Seems to be getting bigger with time, in the last 7 days seems to have grown by 100GB. I noticed the following settings under the database:
Autogrowth: By 15 percent, unrestricted growth
Does that seem right? Thanks.

I am using Append to media backup option in 2000 Version. The size of backup is growing. how can I best create the maintenace plan to clear the history or clear the old files in BACKUP (.bak) file but still be able to restore point in time from same physical file. I

SQL2K: MDF File Size Growing Fast

I have got another annoying problem. The MDF file size on one of the machines is growing really fast. We zip the mdf/ldf files every day from all the machines in the dataentry dept. On this particular machine, the mdf file size is growing by about 1GB per day. However, when the file is zipped, the zipped file size comes closer to the zipped files from the other machines.
I have tried doing this:

Any ideas as to what it might be? and how to solve this problem?

Existing Backup File Kept Growing In Size.
Jan 3, 2007I'm having a problem. When I use the SQL query to make a backup of the database, it worked fine. But everytime I use it, the backed-up file's size kept growing in size. Say I have the file, test.bak whose filesize is 450 MB then I run a new backup to overwrite the existing test.bak file, it just end up as 900 MB. If I run it again, it become 1350 MB and so on.
Is there a way to prevent that from happening?

May 23, 2007I have an 19 gig database that somehow has a 100gig log file. The DB MUST BE in full recovery mode, I backup the transaction logs EVERY hour and shrink nightly. but for some reason my logfile WILL NOT SHRINK.

Where as when I run them alltogether as Nested proces (calling one in another as sub-procedures) Logfile is growing pretty bad like 25 to 30GB.. and finally getting kickedafter running disk space. Transaction Log Growing And Growing
Aug 22, 2001I upgraded from SQL 6.5 to SQL 7 last month, and so far, everything's
been going fine.
However, I'm not using my old SQL 6.5 backup scripts, which, when the
backup was done, would dump the transaction log with TRUNCATE_ONLY, shrinking
the log size.
My SQL 7 server is set up with a Maintenance Plan which does everything,
including backup, but the log file seems to be growing and growing. I'm
up to 4.5 gigs now, for a database with a data file of 3.5 gigs.
How do I "dump transaction with TRUNCATE_ONLY" on a SQL 7 database?

MSmerge_tombstone Growing And Growing
Mar 1, 2004I have merge replication setup up for 6 SQLCE Subscribers.
I have noticed that the MSmerge_tombstone table is growing
at a fast rate regardless of any changes to the data in
the database. It seems to be consistantly adding 50 rows
of data to the table every 2 minutes. As the table grows
it causes the SQLCE subscirbers to fail with the following
message:
ERROR: -2147467259
SQL Server Reconciler failed: Run
ERROR: -2147200925
: Failed to enumerate changes in the filtered
articles.
ERROR: 0

I'm sure that this is due to the size of the
MSmerge_tombstone.
Should the MSmerge_tombstone table grow at this rate?

I understand there is the sp_mergecleanupmetadata Stored
procedure but if i use this does that mean that because i
have to reinitialise all the subscribers, they are going
to have to pull down the whole subscription again.
I have since Changed a settings to make subscription
expiration date to 8 days instead of never expires but
we're still getting 50 rows added every 2 minutes

Text Truncated On INSERT (urgent)
Mar 14, 2006Hi,Question: Why is INSERT of a string having 8000+ characters causing truncation in a TEXT field?We are working on a website for a client, and one of their CMS-driven pages contains more than 8000 chars for its content. The database field was originally TEXT datatype at the default size, but the content was getting truncated upon INSERT. So I looked into why this was happening, tried many things including: 1. Executing: EXEC sp_tableoption 'section', 'text in row', '7000'2. Changing datatype from TEXT to VARCHAR(8000). (of course this truncated at 8000).And this truncation still occurring. This is happening on SQL Server 2000 installed and configured on our client's server. The servers we host don't have this problem, and we have even tested the INSERT on our server and it does not truncate. So why is it truncating only on our client's Sql Server? Is there some kind of default configuration setting that limits the allowable length?I'm not intimately familiar with the large BLOB datatypes, and haven't really needed to deal with this issue before now. Now the client is upset about the limitation and does not wish to copy edit the content for their webpage. This is an urgent matter. I need to figure out the problem within a few hours today (it is morning in Europe on Tuesday 14 mar 2006 right now). Thanks in advance.UPDATE: I HAVE RESOLVED THE ISSUE. Similar to a previous post (http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=244646&SiteID=1), I am trying to import data into a SQL Table.
I am trying to program a small application that will import product data obtained through suppliers via CD-ROM. One supplier in particular uses Fixed width colums, and data looks like this:

My Table would then have:
ProductID as int
Name as text
Cost as money
How would I go about extracting the data with an XML Format file? I am stumbling over how to tell it where to start picking up data for a specific column.
Is there any way that I could trim the Name column (i.e.: "Mango Carton " --> "Mango Carton")?
I don't know if it makes any difference, but I've been calling SQL from my code by doing this:

I am createing one task (user control) in SSIS. I have property grid in my GUI and 2 buttons (OK & Cancle).
PropertyGrid has Properties like SourceConnection, OutputConnection etc....right now I am able to populate Connections in list box next to Source and Output Property.
Now my question to you guys is depending on Source Connection it should read that text file associated with connection manager. After validation it should pick header (first line of text file bases on record type) and write it into new file when task is executed. I have following code for your reference. Please let me know I am going in right direction or not..

Urgent -- BIDS Opening SSIS Packages In Text Mode

I am not able to open the package in BIDS. When I open the package I am seeing only the XML. Below I had given what I have done.
First I have installed Visual studio 2008 Professional and next I installed SQL Server 2005 with Integration services, database services, workflow components.
I am able to see the BIDS in Start --> All Programes --> Microsoft SQL Server 2005 --> "SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio"
Any help would be appreciated.

Report Printing With Blank Pages When Large Amount Of Text In Column Values. Urgent

I am facing problem in printing the reports from browser and also when i export it to pdf,the problem i am facing is blank pages are coming when report column getting the large amount of text around 2500 characters into column value.
can any one help me in this issue?. if the report is getting acceptable amout of data it is printing in proper way i.e no balnk pages at all.i maintained all properties like margins+body size < page size.
