Time Delay When First Opening The Sql 2005 Reporting Services
Dec 27, 2006
I noticed that the Reporting Services is taking longer to open in the morning or after a period of time in-active. My guest is that the SSRS is set to idle/stop after certain time when it is in-active state and it will take time to start the Reporting Services when it is activated. My question is how to make SSRS active all the time ie never go to "sleep". What is the Pro and Con of this approach? Thanks.

Hello, We are using Reporting Services 2005 with large amount of data. Our reports displays the data in various presentation (charts, tables, Images and matrixes). Sometimes the underline queries takes a lot of time (few algorithms implemented by SQL and few by web services). We tried to run the reports in various scenarios and we are getting a timeout n each of the scenarios: 1. Running the report with windows application (based on Report Viewer control) 2. Running the report via subscription.
We noticed than the timeout occurs after about 20 minutes. WE changed the following parameters: 1. The system timeout in the report server database: 60000 2. Reports execution timeout (site level): Do not timeout report execution 3. Reports execution timeout (report level): a. Do not timeout report execution b. A very big number
I am getting an error in Replication between SQL Server 2005 and SQL Express when "Connecting to Subscriber". Detailed error message is given below. Do we need to increase the logintimeout for "Connecting to Subscriber". How can we increase it?

I am trying to generate a report that is basically a class list. It lists classes for a specific semester and lists them by day of the week and then by time.
If I am pulling back a dataset of all classes, how do I filter my report so as to show each set of classes appropriately (by day and by time within the day)? I tried using the Filter function on the table level, but I guess I don't get it.
I am using Sql REporting Services 2005 for viewing reports in my web application. I have to change the chart types at run time basesd on the option. User can select any chart eg. bar chart, pie chart, column chart etc. On selection screen should populate the chart type. I am not able to change chart type at runtime. Help please.
I am using sql reporting services 2005 for viewing my reports, Now i want to change chart type of my report according to diffrent selection, there will be pie chart, coulmn chart , bar chart or many more options resides in my web application and according to user selection , chart of that report should be change.
Since migrating our SSRS 2005 to SSRS 2014 we have had a number of clients saying they can't open .pdf files that get emailed to them from our SSRS subscriptions.
They open fine no a Windows PC, iPhone and Android.
I have a SSRS report in which we have a subreport i am trying to hide the link in excel after exporting from report documents, in report my logic is working fine but when we are deploying in SharePoint application then it is not working. Report is not opening.
I have a requirement to display a disclaimer message before going to the content of a particular report. The workflow would be:
go to report folder e.g. Reports/Pages/Folder.aspx?ItemPath=%2fMyFolder%2fReports&ViewMode=ListClick on Report xDisplay DisclaimerPress 'ok' on disclaimerContinue to report
This is SSRS 2012 native.
I had contemplated injecting JavaScript into the report, but this appears virtually impossible to do i a simple manner.
we have problems with our SQL Reporting Service 2012 (SSRS) server . We have setup Kerberos delegation between SSRS and the database server (SQL Server Always-on cluster) so users are authenticated down to the database. The issue occurs from time to time that SSRS loses the ability to delegate the user credentials to the database. At this point in time the Report Server logs contain rejected database connections because of ANONYMOUS logon. After restarting SSRS the problem is gone.
I have a Table Having Date,Opening,Addition,Sale values where opening value comes in the very first row other times it is zero.
In ssrs how can i have a report showing closing value = Opening+Addition-Sale in current row (it is simple for 1st row ). this closing be the opening value in next row and same formula to be continued...
I recently installed SQL Server 2005 Enterprise on a machine running Server 2003. I have successfully configured Reporting Services (see below for summary of settings) - Used the defaults for the Repor tServer and Report Manager Virtual Directories - Windows Service Identity set to domain user. The domain user is part of the administrator group on the machine and has sysadmin rights to the database - Web Service Identity set to NT AuthorityNetworkService
When I open http://localhost/reports/, I get the following error:
I have check a bunch of forums, but have no success. Any advise would be greatly appreciated!!

We've got a requirement to build the real time report. user can browse report at any point of time and need to see the latest data(stock market) in the report.
I've few options down...
1. Directly point to OLTP database as source and write stored procedure to show result set.
2. Replicate the database and write the SP's to reports. To avoid pointing directly to OLTP db.
3. To build the datawarehouse with dim & facts to show it in reports. I prefer this as a standard method, but this would have some latency depending on trasaction load which will differ from the requirement.
I am trying to migrate my reports from SQL server 2000 reporting services 32bit to 2005 64bit. I am following the migration steps that MS specified. Restored my Reportserver and ReportserverTempDB databases Then I was using the configure Report services to upgrade these databases but I always end up getting the follwoing exception when I run the upgrade on the "Database Setup" configuration for 'ReportServerTempDB' database System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Could not locate entry in sysdatabases for database 'ReportServerTempDBTempDB'. No entry found with that name. Make sure that the name is entered correctly. at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection.OnError(SqlException exception, Boolean breakConnection) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlInternalConnection.OnError(SqlException exception, Boolean breakConnection) at System.Data.SqlClient.TdsParser.ThrowExceptionAndWarning(TdsParserStateObject stateObj) at System.Data.SqlClient.TdsParser.Run(RunBehavior runBehavior, SqlCommand cmdHandler, SqlDataReader dataStream, BulkCopySimpleResultSet bulkCopyHandler, TdsParserStateObject stateObj) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.RunExecuteNonQueryTds(String methodName, Boolean async) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.InternalExecuteNonQuery(DbAsyncResult result, String methodName, Boolean sendToPipe) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.ExecuteNonQuery() at Microsoft.ReportingServices.Common.DBUtils.ApplyScript(String connectionString, String script) at ReportServicesConfigUI.SqlClientTools.SqlTools.ApplyScript(String connectionString, String script)
It's driving me crazy, why is it looking for 'ReportServerTempDBTempDB' in the catalog instead of 'ReportServerTempDB'? Is it possible to migrate from 32bit to 64bit?
Hello I have and tested in 2 way using variable and constant. Query 1: This query I am using vaiable "@last" for the date value. this takes to run for 2 minute .
Query 2: Here I am using value '11/05/2002' instead of varialbe and it is running within a second.
Why these much difference to run this same query?. Can anybody give correct reason or solution for this. Thanks, Ravi
query 1: DECLARE @last smalldatetime SET @last ='11/05/2002'
select distinct(o.account_num),a.enterprise_num,a.site_nu m from oesd.dbo.order_header o WITH(NOLOCK) INNER JOIN oesd.dbo.account a WITH(NOLOCK) ON a.account_num = o.account_num and o.added_date > @last UNION select distinct(o.account_num),a.enterprise_num,a.site_nu m from oesd.dbo.order_header o WITH(NOLOCK) INNER JOIN oesd.dbo.account a WITH(NOLOCK) ON a.account_num = o.account_num INNER JOIN Leap.dbo.ENTERPRISE_STATE es WITH(NOLOCK) ON (a.enterprise_num = es.ENTERPRISE_NUM AND o.last_updated_date > @last)
Query 2:
select distinct(o.account_num),a.enterprise_num,a.site_nu m from oesd.dbo.order_header o WITH(NOLOCK) INNER JOIN oesd.dbo.account a WITH(NOLOCK) ON a.account_num = o.account_num and o.added_date > '11/05/2002' UNION select distinct(o.account_num),a.enterprise_num,a.site_nu m from oesd.dbo.order_header o WITH(NOLOCK) INNER JOIN oesd.dbo.account a WITH(NOLOCK) ON a.account_num = o.account_num INNER JOIN Leap.dbo.ENTERPRISE_STATE es WITH(NOLOCK) ON (a.enterprise_num = es.ENTERPRISE_NUM AND o.last_updated_date > '11/05/2002' )
If I have some mdx I'm using in reporting services like this:
select { [TimeByMinute].[All TimeByMinute].[2005].[May].[1] : [TimeByMinute].[All TimeByMinute].[2005].[May].[6] } on columns, {A_list_of_measures } on rows from ACD_Calls
The column names are unique to the day of month- which means when I use a table to display this in reporting services, the field names change dynamically when the date parameters change which means the table stops working.
I'll post this in reporting services too but I thought maybe I could alias the column names in mdx shielding the reporting services table from changes in dates.
What do you think? Would a matrix be more flexible in this case?
I have a problem with Date/Time parameters. When I try to preview reports locally, I get the following error message for dates past the 12th of a month:
An error occured during local report processing. The value provided for the report parameter 'Date' is not valid for its type.
My report is set to de-CH. If I enter a date into the datepicker in Swiss/German format (dd.mm.yyyy) Visual Studio changes them to mm/dd/yyyy but somehow tests them against dd.mm.yyyy and throws an error.
Windows language is German, SQL Server and Visual Studio are in English.
I installed the German language pack for Visual Studio and switched over to German to no avail. Changing the report language to en-US did not work either.
I am using the following function to set the time format, however I now need to to add an IF statement into this equation. This is the current expression I am using:
SSRS 2008 R2. I am writing a report that uses a DB4 database. Because of this many SQL commands that I normally use are not available and I don't know what commands I can use. Because of this I am doing much of my calculations inside of SSRS.
I need to round a time field to the nearest quarter hour inside of SSRS.
I've migrated a server with SQL Server 2008R2 and Reporting services into a new box with SQL Server 2014, but forgot to change the timezone to the correct one. I've changed it later, but it seems like the reports are running by the old default timezone. The schedule says that the report should run at 6:30am, but the Last Run column shows 8:30 PM.
I need to fix it without manually updating each subscription with some date/time conversion.
ExecutionTime gives server time, How can I get local time ? I'm planning to create a report part and use it across all the reports to display report execution time.
- Reports are being opened in Citrix -MS SQL Server 2008 R2
I defined my input parameter as date/time but it doesn't have a time picker where we can accept user input.
The calendar is great but time picker is missing.
Is there any add-in or tweaks I can use to get that feature ?
The alternative solution which uses drop down with some preset values are not feasible for me. All I need is just the time picker similar to adjust time in Windows.
In VS2008 SSRS, when creating a dataset, only the name of the stored procedure was required. When populating the dataset, VS prompted for the parameters, whether or not there were any. In VS2010, the name of the stored procedure is not enough if there are parameters. When creating a dataset in Visual Studio 2010 for databases and stored procedures in SQL 2012, I must provide (what should be) run-time parameters to obtain a field list and then to preview the report.
So the embedded dataset looks like this (wherein the only parameter is a password): exec dbo.spu_procedure1 @PW='999'.This works well and as expected during report design and development. But 999 must be provided at run-time by the requester, and not in the dataset definition. If I remove the parameter in the dataset's exec string before deploying the report, the field list is cleared and the report is unusable. So I cannot overcome what seems a contradiction: necessary to obtain a field list, but "yet-to-be-provided" when the user selects the report.
By keeping @PW='999' in the dataset specification, the user cannot override the parameter and automatically has a password to view the report.
