To Display The Full Resultset In The Watch Window

hi frnds,
i have one SSIS package with single SQL Execute task.
select empname from emp
This is the query i had mentioned in that SQL task.
i had created the varibale User:rs as object and i mapped that to the resutset and i selected fullresultset in general tab.
In the debugging mode im getting the com object as the result of that variable.
This is the o/p which i got in the debugging mode.
- User::rs {System.__ComObject} __ComObject
Type __ComObject
Value System.__ComObject
but i requires the empname to be displayed in that mode.
how to get that?
pls tell me .

how i will get that watch window. i searched all the menus but i didnt get it.

Not sure if this is a "user training" issue or a bug, I seem to have difficulty dragging and dropping variable(s) to the watch window. Is there a specific sequence I need to follow to enable this feature in BIDS? Appreciate any feedback.

I am creating a simple SSRS table report through Report Builder. My dataset is looking for the stored procedure . When I execute the Stored procedure through SSMS I get resutset for certain parameters. I execute the dataset (Store procedure) through query designer in dataset properties and I get results back. But when I try to run the report and see the preview, I do not get any results displayed. I been looking on the same issue form last 3-4 days and have not found any clue.
Following is the stored procedure I am using. Also I am passing multivalued parameter through report as well, and I am using spilt function to seperate the libraryid I am reading from parameter values. This works fine. I have similar kind of four other reports and with different stored procedure which exactly follow the same method , like multivalue parameters and other criteria are also very similar. All other reports works just fine.. This perticular report has issue for displying results, following is the stored procedure I am using

Hi friends,
I couldn't find links for this issue.
1) How to write the contents of a dataset or a full resultset (from execute sql task) directly into a Sql Server 2005 table.
2) Since I have hundreds of Resulting columns, I want to create the Destination table based on the structure of the dataset.
How can we achieve this?

Select statement. In my database i am using the employee table. I need my first column to display your full name is 99 characters. so like if the employee is john smith it would display Your Full Name Is 9 characters (including the space).

I need an example of a WQL query to use in the WMI Event Watcher task to watch for the presence of a file. The task has to succeed for either:
1) The file already exists when the task is run
2) The file shows up while the task is running (waiting)
Also the query has to reference a UNC path and file name. The file I'm looking for is just a flag file telling me a table is refreshed in our Data Warehouse.
I also need pointers on how to set the WMI connection manager. For the server, do I use the \servername of the fileserver? Do I need to include the folder the files are in (eg. \servernameflags)?

I have a folder that gets 2 to 3 files dropped everyday. I want to create a package that loads only the new files into the database. The old files (Processed files) remain in the same folder and cannot be moved. How do i accomplish this in ssis?
I found something about the file watcher task with the for loop, but just can't put it all together.
Any help would be appreciated.

between my wrox book, google and looking everywhere in BIDS, I couldn't figure out how to watch the variables being set in an Exec SQL Task control flow item. My wrox book said something about right clicking the var in the script (I wasnt in a script), or using the debug menu or pressing ctrl-alt-q. None of this worked. Is it possible that at installation a certain choice wasnt made, or maybe watch windows only work in the context of something other than the control flow?

Hi Guys,
I've got an order generation query that will _sometimes_ run long. By that I mean every few days a query used to estimate the required stock quantities for an order will time-out because it has taken an extended time to run. This only occurs at one particular site. This site shares a common schema with others who do not experience this issue, although site is a particularly busy one.
This query (a stored proc call) needs to aggregate sales data from ~200k rows and usually takes 10-15 seconds. On the days when it 'runs long' it will hit the 5 minute time-out period and be failed by the application.
The problem I have with this process is that if I have the application dump out the query it's using to generate the order (this query will vary as the stored proc is passed the name of a temp table to use for this order) so I can run it in Query Analyzer to get an execution plan and maybe some clue as to why it takes so long; the issue will vanish. After I've tried to investigate in this way an order generated from either Query Analyzer or the application will work in the normal time. When the query is running long any processes which attempts to write to the sales data tables will get blocked until the order generation has finished.
The application is accessing the database via ADO 2.6. The database itself is running on SQL Server 2000 sp3 under Win2k.
I believe that the SQL Profiler is the tool best suited to investigate this but I'm hoping for some advice on which of the myriad of watchable metrics I should be checking here.
Any profiler advice or estimates as to what the issue may be here would be great!

When i debug a trigger is it possible to add a WATCHon the INSERTED or DELETED?I think not, at least I couldn't figure out a way to do so.Does someone have a suggestion on how I can see the values?I did try to do something likeINSERT INTO TABLE1(NAME)SELECT NAME FROM INSERTEDbut this didn't work. When the trigger completed and Iwent to see the TABLE1, there were no records in it.Are there any documents, web links that describe waysof debugging the trigger's INSERTED and DELETED?Thank you

Can't an SSIS package run "in the background", so to speak, without having either the cmd.exe or dtexecui windows open while executing? I'd obviously rather not have to have a window open when the thing is running right?

I have sql server 2000. I copied a database from one server to another. I have one table that has a full-text index. When I transferred over the database, the index still existed, but was not populated. I made sure the path for the file is pointing to a new correct location. I did "start full population". It only populated one entry @ 1MB. On the old server the index is 100MB with more than 3 million records.
I tried rebuilding, re-creating, and it all works, but when I run "start full population", it only populates 1 record. I double checked the table in question and it has over 3 million records and proper primary key.
How do I resolve this.

How much performance hit should I expect to use FOR XML to generate XML string directly from SQL Server 2000? I like this approach because it is simple and easy. However, others told me that it has a big performance hit. They prefer to use a COM+ component to create XML string from a Resultset. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I have a search query on my page. However, since the resultset may be very large, I want to retreive only those results that are currently shown on the gridview page.Often a user won't browse through more than a couple of pages, so it's b-*** to send all the records to the client.I know that with a sp you can define that you want to retrieve the first or second x records, but I want to do this with SQL...is that possible?

According to the BOL documenation of the ExecuteSQLTask you can populate a variable with a resultset. I specified a variable of type 'Object' and followed the instructions and everything is fine.
Now I have TWO issues.
1) I want to filter some unwanted rows from this variable and add into another recodset. For filtering i am using foreach loop and putting condition on variable. It works fine till here, but how to update another 'Object' type variable.
2) How to make the result set as source in a data flow task. I want the filtered result set to become source in a data flow

I am using the SQL Server 2005 JDBC driver. I need to write a piece of code that makes use of the streaming ResultSet. That is as soon as I get the first row, a worker thread should be able to begin processing on it without waiting for the second row to arrive. When the second row arrives, the second worker thread should start processing on this new row without waiting for the third row to arrive and so on. Usually, with a ResultSet, I need to wait for all the rows to arrive first before I can start navigating the rows in the ResultSet. But in my code, I need to start navigating the ResultSet even as more rows are pouring in from the DBServer. How can I do that? Any pointers in this direction will be helpful. Further, I want to know will setfetchsize be of any help here? If I set the setfetchsize value to 1, does that mean that as soon as I get the first row, I can start working on this row of the resultset(viz start navigating the ResultSet) without waiting for the second row to arrive in the ResultSet?

I have used Red Gates SQL bundle to make an identical db on sql2005 express from sql 2000. When i run my query against the sql2000 i get what I want, but when i run it against the sql2005, i get nothing.
Anyone got any suggestions to why?

I'm trying to number rows in a resultset by a grouping.
e.g. if my data looks like this:

I want it to return this, with x as a sub-numbered value (like an identity for each grouping):

Hi,
I am trying to do a join which involves more than 3 tables. One is a parent table and the other two table have 1:n relationship with that parent table.
But duplicate records are being returned in the resultset. How do I eliminate duplicate records?
This is my query.
SELECT table1.* from table1 left outer join table2 on table1.id=table2.id
left outer join table3 on table1.id=table3.id
I tried doing DISTINCT here but with no success.
SQL with distinct clause.
SELECT distinct table1.id, table1.* from table1 left outer join table2 on table1.id=table2.id
left outer join table3 on table1.id=table3.id
This is the error I get:
The text data type cannot be selected as DISTINCT because it is not comparable
Please help.
