Hello I am using SQL Server 2000 and How should I track a specific procedure and DMLs in it with profiler, I was trying to filer ObjecName=MySP but it seems it does not track only the SP. Any idea?
Hi, we are almost finished developing our database and we have a table we want to monitor because it is getting information deleted from it and it has a delete trigger on it but we want to track the changes to the table and were wondering how to track specific changes to a user database? We want to see who is making the change, what the change they are making is and also what is the time they are making it. I have used SELECT * FROM SYSPROCESSES and I am running SQL TRACE with filter on MS SQLEW, and MS TRANS, and Visual Basic with SQL statements on tblRoute,( the table that I want to monitor) and I want to know if there is any other way to monitor this table more closely?
I need to know /observe for a period like 10 days in a row HOW MANY TIMES a specific Stored Proc is executed on the server. How can I do that? is there a way to precisely know a number of such calls via DMVs?
I would like to know about the DML process (Insert/update /delete) in a particular table .. it is like change tracking but I also want to know the modification date
I know CDC ( Change data capture ) but unfortunately it needs SQL 2008 developer/enterprise edition and my SQL server is SQL 2008 STANDARD edition.
I have a stored procedure for which i need to track the changes. I wanted to know which user has updated the stored procedure and what all changes are done to it. I thought of getting these details from the transaction log, but looks like sql server 2000 doesnt have any log reader.
Is there any method to track stored procedure changes?
Basically I want to save a copy of stored procedure definition in my own table whenever a stored procedure is being created/updated/dropped from the database.
Thanks.
P/S: Table to keep the copy
CREATE TABLE USP_HISTORY(
UserID nvarchar(128),
ActionType varchar(10),
ActionDate datetime,
SPName nvarchar(128),
Definition nvarchar(MAX)
)
ActionType stores value like Create or Alter or Drop
can any body provide me any idea i need to know who had made changes to any particular stored procedure (when and from whose machine) any thing regarding to any kind of tracking of stored procedure
I am attempting to see if an application is calling a particular stored proc. i have the Profiler setup to only display the login and it is. I have all items set to display under Stored Procedures, but I can't see names of procedures in the Text Data.
I'm trying to get the execution plan for a single stored procedurefrom Profiler. Now, I've isolated the procedure but I get allexecution plans. Any ideas on how to connect the SPIDs so that I onlyget the execution plan for the procedure I'm watching and not thewhole of the server?
Is any way we can tell sql server to keep specific (long runing) query in procedure Cache. I already tried to do this by creating job (run every 1 hr from 8 am to 6 pm) but is not enough
I have created a stored procedure in the master database that can be run against any database on the server. I call this procedure from a sql server agent job. In this job I specify the database I want the procedure to run against but it always seems to run against the master database (presumably because the procedure is in this database). I can't switch database inside the procedure so what can I do other than creating a copy of the procedure in every database?
I'm creating a generic procedure in the master db and I'm getting the database name as a input parameter. How do I set the database inside the procedure , according to this parameter? T-Sql does not accept "USE" inside procedures . I tried "sp_defaultdb" but when I select from a specific table in the procedure it still does not identify the table as belonging to that database, it still looks for the table in the master db.
I have a question. I know its possible to create a dynamic query and do an exec @dynamicquery. Question: Is there a simpler way to update specific columns in a table at run time without doing if else for each column to determine which is null and which has a value because i'm running into a design dilemna on how to go about it.
FYI: All columns in the table design are set to null by default.
The sql listed above does execute the stored procedure called [dbo].[sproom] successfully and returns all the data all the rows from the stored procedure multiple times. However can you tell me the following:
1. How can I have the stored procedure return distinct rows? 2. I want the stored procedure to return selected columns. I tried using the OUTPUT parameter for some of the columns, but I got the error message, "Procedure or function spHomeroom has too many arguments specified.".
A solution might be to change the stored procedure, but I would prefer not to since this is a generic stored procedure that I believe a lot of t-sqls and stored procedures will use.
I have a stored procedure that runs every 5 minutes. I have one block in the procedure that will only run if there are records in a temp table. In addition, I would like this block to run only if the current time is between 0 and 5 minutes past the hour or between 30 and 35 minutes past the hour.
Currently, my block looks like this: IF OBJECT_ID('tempdb..#tmpClosedPOs') IS NOT NULL BEGIN
I can get the current minutes of the current time by using:
Select DATEPART(MINUTE,GetDate())
I know that it should be simple, but I'm pretty new at Stored Procedures. How do I alter the IF statement to check for the time and only run the block if it's between the times I stated? I started to DECLARE @Minutes INT, but wasn't sure where to go from there.
We have a "main" SQL 2014 server who imports XML files using SSIS in a datacenter. In remote sites (which are warehouses), there is an instance of SQL 2014 Express. A merge replication is setup, as every operations done on each site must be "forwared" to the main database, as some XML files are generated as output for an ERP system.
Now, the merge replication replicate all the data to the server on each sites. But a specific site don't need the data of every other sites, only the data relevant to itself (which is the warehouse code). Is there a way to replicate only the data relevant to each individual sites to the subscribers? Or is there a better way than replication to accomplish this?
I want to ship 500,000 aged transactions each night to an archive table and delete them from their source table in one or more logical units of work (LUW). Each row is approx 60 bytes and there is only one non clustered index on the source table presently.
I'm trying to weigh the pros and cons of 3 alternatives. One of them would basically insert the non-aged rows into tempdb, ship the aged records, truncate the table and then insert the tempdb records back into their source all in the same LUW.
For this alternative, I'd at least like to turn off logging when the records get inserted into tempdb as I dont see any value in logging that part of the activity. Is this possible?
Could you guys please help me with printing reports invoked thru command line/ URL access to print automatically to specific printers and specific trays and also is it possible to set the specific printer and tray as parameters.
I don't know whether anyone has this problem, but I am definitely not using the right keywords to search for a thread.
My situation is this...
I have a dataset that has values to fill cells to multiple tables in a report. However, I only want to select specific data from the dataset to fill textboxes and others. I cannot change the stored procedure, but the sample of the data is shown below:-
I know it looks weird, but the row really represents which "row" or textbox is it to fill with the Val. The Stat Column is just a way to make sure that I am filling the right values.
so my new report would have multiple tables to denote different categories. In my first table, I tried putting the cells as follows:- (expressions are highlighted in italics and bold)
I tried putting it into the headerrows instead of DetailRows, and it ended up printing the last value. Is there anyway to do this ? print all the values out in one table ? I tried using textboxes, but I think I got my expression wrong.
and it give me an error The value expression for the textbox €˜textbox5€™ contains an error: [BC30455] Argument not specified for parameter 'FalsePart' of 'Public Function IIf(Expression As Boolean, TruePart As Object, FalsePart As Object) As Object'.
Appreciate any advice or suggestion for this scenario !
I am very early on in developing a website to track issues with projects which is tied to a SQL database. I have my Projects Table, my Users Table, and am creating a third table to track issues. I'm wondering what is the best way to assign specific users to specific data/projects. The user should only be able to view & update the projects assigned to him. He should not be able to see other projects. What is the best way to assign projects/data to the users to make sure they are only viewing their data?
hi alli've got two tables called "webusers" (id, name, fk_country) and "countries" (id, name) at the meantime, i've a search-page where i can fill a form to search users. in the dropdown to select the country i included an option which is called "all countries". now the problem is: how can i make a stored procedure that makes a restriction to the fk_country depending on the submitted fk_country parameter?it should be something like SELECT * FROM webusers(if @fk_country > 0, which is the value for "all countries"){ WHERE fk_country = @fk_country} who has an idea how to solve this problem?
hi, Is there a way to view any Transact sql in a log for instance, I am iserting a new records into a table. how can I track a log for the isert statment. I know that using bcp code provides me with a log if I use /o in the bcp code. Is there any similar thing for Transact sql thanks Ali
hello,I was wondering how to track all changes on tables by using some sort of ahistory table. What i would like is a generic history table where i can see who updated, inserted, deleted or executed(stored procedures, triggers) what value inwhat table with a date when it was occured.Could somebody help me with this?
A stored procedure has been executed either yesterday or today. I would like to find out which user and when they executed it. Is this possible without 3rd party transaction log interrogation tools?
What would be the best practice to follow to keep track of MS SQLserver changes... Stroed procs, tables, views, triggers, indexes, DTSand also jobs ect....I am not quite sure how Source safe works with sql server. Any otherway to do this... Even if its manual work, its okey.. I wouldappreciate if any of the DBA's let me know how they are facing thisissue....Thanks in advance...
While my application is running on the production server, I want to develop on the test server. After a few weeks, I want to update the application, and have to update the database structure on the production server also with the most recent one from the testserver, but without deleting the current data on the production server.
I create/modify all tables in SQL Server 2005 via Management Studio. The application is built in VS2008 Pro. I'm using SubVersion (SVN).
I can let Management Studio generate scripts for every change and store them manualy, but that's a little bit too much work. What I want is a sort off version control solution. A solution that a service running on the background tracks every change on a specific database on my test server, and stores them as T-SQL code in a repository. Then I can collect all those T-SQL scripts, and run them against the production server.
I want to create a page(using GridView) where it will detect changes made in the database and display it for Administrator observation. I've created a table name history for this purpose. History guid (uniqueidentifier) dateCreated(datetime) lastDateUpdated(datetime) changesMade(varchar(50)) ---- eg; dropdownlist oldValue(varchar(50)) ----- compaq newValue(varchar(50)) -----dell updateBy(varchar(10)) <------ username of registered user comNo(int) = foreign key for Computer table History data will insert data whenever a changes made. Could anyone advise and direct me how to do this function. I was thinking of using stored procedure to insert the data. Thanks in advance.
