Unable To Run Mysql Server 5 On Windows
Oct 19, 2006
on trying to change the
password it says this:
C:PROGRA~1MYSQLMYSQLS~1.0BINMYSQLA~1.EXE: connect to server at
'localhost'
failed
error: 'Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061)'
Check that mysqld is running on localhost and that the port is 3306.
You can check this by doing 'telnet localhost 3306'
telent localhost 3306 says "could not open a connection to localhost"
and typing:
C:Program FilesMySQLMySQL Server 5.0in>mysqld-nt
061018 21:17:10 [ERROR] Can't find messagefile 'C:Program FilesMySQLMySQL

ver 5.0shareenglisherrmsg.sys'
061018 21:17:10 [ERROR] Aborting

Good day! I am carrying through a replication of the transacional and heterogeneous type between the SQL Server 2000 and MySQL 5.0.41, through driver of ODBC of the MySQL (version 3.51.15). Unhappyly I am not having success! I make all the necessary configurations, but in the hour to create schema in the MySQL, only the table msrepl7 is created (but nondata) and occurs the following error: €śDate too long will be column €śtimecol€? at row 1€? and later €śInvalid cursor state€?. The first error must to the size of the column timecol that it is created as char (16), but the value that goes to be inserted is to char (19) - > ({ts'2007-05-01 20:45: 21 '}) The table that is published has only two entire fields and the same one is not created in the MySQL, exactly with the option to initiate schema. I looked for in some sites and I found one that said to bind query Log of the MySQL and to catch the command of insert for the table msrelp7 and to insert in the hand, after making this to come back to the SQL Server and to ask for to synchronize again. Did not function, now only with the error of €śInvalid cursor state€?! To complete one another person in one another site it placed that was to exclude the table msrepl7 that everything would function, did not function! Thanks!! Cristiano Rodrigues

Hello Experts, I have been unable to install SQL Express 2005 Server on my Windows 2003 Server (with SP2 installed). I keep getting an error message saying that Microsoft Windows Installer 3.1 is not installed. Click here for image So, I downloaded Microsoft Windows Installer 3.1 v2 (WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-x86.exe) but whenever I try to install it I get an error message saying that "the Service Pack version of this system is newer than the update you are applying" and that there is no need to install the update and it stops there. Click here for image Is there a workaround to this? How can I get Microsoft Windows Installer 3.1 installed? I tried going to the Windows Update site, I already have everything installed and I even started the Windows Installer service manually. Has anyone else experienced this? How can I get SQL Server 2005 Express installed if not how can I install SQL Server 2000 on tihs machine? The only reason I am trying to install SQL Server 2005 is because wanted to try it so I uninstalled SQL Server 2000 now I can no longer install SQL Server 2000 again because it won't let me because of the SP2 patch. Help! :(

Hello Everyone, I have a Report Server setup on my laptop (XP Pro SP2). I have developed a report which I would like to view from a Windows Forms Application (VB.NET) using a ReportViewer. When I try it from the local machine it works correctly, but if I try to connect and preview the same report from my other PC (Vista Home Premium) I am getting the "Unable to connect to the remote server. A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because the connected host failed to respond." error. I have setup the Processing mode to Remote and correctly setup the ReportPath and ReportServerUrl using: With rptRetEmp .ProcessingMode = Microsoft.Reporting.WinForms.ProcessingMode.Remote .ServerReport.ReportServerUrl = New Uri("http://192.168.1.2/CPMReports") .ServerReport.ReportPath = "/CPM_Reports/Test" .ServerReport.Refresh() .RefreshReport() End With Where CPMReports is the Report Server virtual directory and CPM_Reports is the folder where the report Test resides. I do not know if this has anything to do with the fact that Vista Home does not have Report Services enabled or it is just a permissions problem. I have red several posts that describe similiar problems, but I could not find a solution. Thank you for your help. Daniel D.

Hi, I think my description says it all. I have just installed Studio Express for the first time. I want to attach a database. When the connect to server dialog is displayed the user name and password text box is greyed out. The Password box is blank and I need to edit this. I switch to SQL authentication they are enabled but if I switch back to Windows authentication they are both greyed out. I have uninstalled and reinstalled but still no luck, Any help would be great.

Neither did after applying SP2 version. What can be the reason? On the Problem Reports and Solutions panel it tells me to update to SP2. But it doesnt work.

I am not able to connect to SQL Database server using windows authentication when I am connected through VPN connection. However I am able to connect to same server using SQL server authentication and also able to do RDP to DB server machine. I found a resolution in one of the forum suggesting to change UserRasCredentials to 0 value in *.pdk file.Since VPN connection which I am using generates instant proxy this resolution doesn't work. Also application which I am using does windows authentication connection it is required for me to impersonate windows authetication when connected using VPN.

I didn´t know where to put this so sorry if this is not the appropriate place. I am running Windows XP pro sp2 with visual studio 2005, ms sql server 2005, and a number of other applications. My problem is that I am not allowed to install new windows components(I want to install IIS). When I try to access from either control panel, add/remove programs, Install new windows components or directly from the winXP cd I get the following error in a pop-up form and I can only press "OK": "Another copy of Setup is already running. Complete the other Setup or restart Windows." I am not running the instance more than once. I do this as the first thing after a restart with the same result. When looking at the processes in the task manager I cant see anything unusual. It is a pretty slow computer so that may have something to do with it - some timeout or similar. It is getting pretty frustrating so any suggestions are more than welcomed! thanks. EDIT: I used process explorer to locate some stalled windows update process which I killed. Then msmqocm.inf was missing, but that seems to be a FAQ.

Need some help... When we tried to run mulitple packages one after the other from a windows service, first one succeeds but later ones are throwing below error : "The script threw an exception: The element cannot be found in a collection. This error happens when you try to retrieve an element from a collection on a container during execution of the package and the element is not there. A deadlock was detected while trying to lock variable "System:ackageName, User::BusinessDate, User::Environment, User:ortfolioName" for read access. A lock could not be acquired after 16 attempts and timed out." Later, we tried to create separate AppDomains for each package and execute via console application, but ended up with below error (The below expressions were defined in OnError Event) : "The result of the expression "@[User::ReportErrorFrom]" on property "FromLine" cannot be written to the property. The expression was evaluated, but cannot be set on the property. The result of the expression ""Error At :" + @[System:ourceName] + "" + "Error Description : "+ @[System::ErrorDescription] + "" " on property "MessageSource" cannot be written to the property. The expression was evaluated, but cannot be set on the property." At last, we tried to span a separate process (System.Diagnostics.Process) for each package. this seems working but taking very long time: A package that normally takes 2 min, is taking 60 min. We also tried creating an SSIS Package that executes mulitple packages. But only first package is getting executed, and second one is throwing below error (Here the variable it is trying to lock is of first package): "Failed to lock variable "UniqueInstrumentsQuery1" for read access with error 0xC0010001 "The variable cannot be found. This occurs when an attempt is made to retrieve a variable from the Variables collection on a container during execution of the package, and the variable is not there. The variable name may have changed or the variable is not being created.". Please help us with some work around for this. Thanking you in advance,

I have an internal Project Management and Scheduling app that I wrote internally for my company. It was written to use MySQL running on a Debian server, but I am going to move it to SQL Server 2000 and integrate it with our Accounting software. The part I am having trouble with is the user login portion. I previously used this: PHP Code: $sql = "SELECT * FROM users WHERE username = "$username" AND user_password = password("$password")"; Apparently the password() function is not available when accessing SQL Server via ODBC. Is there an equivalent function I could use isntead so the passwords arent plaintext in the database? I only have 15 people using the system so a blank pwd reset wouldn't be too much trouble.

Hi, I've a slight problem with configuring my Report Server. I have set up everything apart from the initialisation and and the Windows Service Identity, however when I select the panel for the latter I am presented with a message box displaying the following: " Reporting Services Configuration Manager: There was an error while switching panels. The most likely cause is an error retreiving WMI properties. The exception details are: InvalidArgument=Value of '1' is not valid for 'SelectedIndex'. Parameter name: SelectedIndex " I have tried re-installing the entire SQL server setup and this made no difference, I followed this by removing then reinstalling just the Report Service. Still nothing. Any ideas as to what it is doing and how I should go about fixing it? Sim

Hi there, I'm hoping someone out there can help me. At my old job, I developed web applications that were based off of a MySQL server. I used PHPMyAdmin and learned the PHP coding, and although not formally trained in DBA or anything, I became very comfortable with using it and building database applications. I did everything through SQL/PHP script coding or through PHPMyAdmin. At my new job, I decided to build a database, but only had access to MS Access, which I can use, but don’t necessarily like. One day, in earshot of one of our admins, I grumbled “if I only had access to a SQL server, I’d turn this thing into a very cool web application. Well, he heard, and gave me access to the SQL server and the web server. Thing is, it’s not MySQL, but MS SQL Server. And I feel like I am at a total loss. I was able to build a basic database in the Enterprise Manager on the SQL server, and create a web site on the web server, but I don’t even know how to begin to connect the two – what is the equivalent of MySQLConnect? I know I would have to learn the VBScript and everything for the advanced stuff, but for right now, I just want to make a simple web page that will do a simple select query from a database and return the rows, and simple forms to input into the database. How do I begin? What do I need to know to begin? I have a feeling the applications already on the server were contracted out, so I don’t actually know if anyone here could help me. Thanks for your help.

I need to pull data out of SQL Server 2005 and load it into a MySql 5 database, and can't find a way to do this efficiently in SSIS since there's no ODBC destination, and I couldn't find an Oledb driver for MySQL. Any thoughts on the best way to accomplish this, aside from exporting to text, and then loading it into MySql via the mysql client or mysql importer? -A

I don't know if this is unique to GoDaddy: I found the program for working with a MySQL database very intuitive (to the point of compliments). Today I started work with ASP.NET and SQL, and when I went to work with SQL Server (on GoDaddy), it wasn't intuitive, and there was almost nothing on which to click. By chance might there be a tutorial that would help a person who needs to work with SQL Server on a provider like GoDaddy?
