I'm trying to develop a VB.NET (2005) form with just a ComBobox and a TextBox.
I bind a combobox with the SqlCeResultset (Scrollable | Updatable ). Do the same with the TextBox.
Combobox1.DataSource = rsResultSet
TextBox1.DataBindings.Add("Text", rsResultSet, "Obs")
This works (when I change the Combo item the textbox changes as well) but any changes to the textbox text do not reach the DB.If i change the Combobox item and back the old data is still there. If i look at the result
set it does appear as updateable.
How can I update the SqlCeResultset when I change the TextBox text?

I have a table named galleryindex which contains rows of photo gallery names along with an associated id (gsid).
example:
gsid (assigned ID), gnumpics (# of photos), gname (gallery name)
=================
43, 133, our summer visit
493, 53, camping photos
When someone uploads more photos I do the following to recalculate the NEW number of photos for the gallery.
SELECT gnumpics FROM galleryindex where gsid= 43
(select current # of photos from location 43 - our summer visit)
in ASP classic I then do this:
sb = objrs("gnumpics")
sb = sb + totupl
SQL = "UPDATE galleryindex SET gnumpics =" & sb & " where gsid= '" & fnum & "'"
to update the gallery with the new amount of photos which is obtained by pulling the old value into SB, and adding "totupl" (total pics uploaded) to it and then updating the values.In SQL speak it would be like this if 20 photos were just uploaded:
SELECT gnumpics FROM galleryindex where gsid= 43
(results in 133 photos)
UPDATE galleryindex SET gnumpics =153 where gsid= 43
(write back 133 + 20)
Basically I'm trying to update the current column gnumpics by a numeric value and I know there's an easier way then pulling the current, adding to it and then writing it back to SQL.
I want to add up the values in a couple of text boxes in another textbox. How do I refer to the textboxes?

when I run below query I got Error of Arithmetic overflow error converting numeric to data type numeric

The 99362600999900 value before numeric is 14 and variable that i declared is of 16 length. Then why this error is coming ? When I set Length 18 then error removed.

When I run, SELECT (@N * @SumXY) - (@SumXSumY * @SumXSumY) in QA I get the result OK which is -28500190448996439680147097583285.072256 ie 32 places to left of decimal and 6 to the right
When I try the following ie to populate a variable with that value I get the error -
SELECT R2Top = (@N * @SumXY) - (@SumXSumY * @SumXSumY)@R2Top is NUMERIC (38, 10)

now lets say i want to edit one row in the database and i have the primery key ID for that row. so i click on that row (which is displayed in a gridview) when i click I want the text that is in the customer cell to appear in a textbox1 and the same with compeny text I want it to apear in another textbox2.

This program gets the values of A and B passed in. They are for table columns DXID and CODE. The textbox GET1 is initialized to B when the page is loaded. When I type another value in GET1 and try to save it, the original initialized value gets saved and not the new value I just typed in. A literal value, like "222" saves but the new GET1.TEXT doesn't.

Hi, it is few days I posted here my question, but received no answer. Maybe the problem is just my problem, maybe I put my question some strange way. OK, I try to put it again, more simply. I have few textboxes, their values I need to transport to database. I set SqlDataSource, parameters... and used SqlDataSource.Insert() method. I got NULL values in the database's record. So I tried find problem by using Microsoft's sample code from address http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.web.ui.webcontrols.sqldatasource.insert.aspx. After some changes I tried that code and everything went well, data were put into database. Next step was to separate code beside and structure of page to two separate files followed by new test. Good again, data were delivered to database. Next step: to use MasterPage, very simple, just with one ContentPlaceHolder. After this step the program stoped to deliver data to database and delivers only NULLs to new record. It is exactly the same problem which I have found in my application. The functionless code is here:http://forums.asp.net/thread/1437716.aspx I cannot find any answer this problem on forums worldwide. I cannot believe it is only my problem. I compared html code of two generated pages - with maserPage and without. I was trying to find numeric characters in a field of nvarchar. I looked this up in HELP.
Wildcard
Meaning
%
Any string of zero or more characters.
_
Any single character.
[ ]
Any single character within the specified range (for example, [a-f]) or set (for example, [abcdef]).
Any single character not within the specified range (for example, [^a - f]) or set (for example, [^abcdef]).
Nowhere in the examples below it in Help was it explicitly detailed that a user could do this.
In MS Access the # can be substituted for any numeric character such that I could do a WHERE clause:
WHERE
Gift_Date NOT LIKE "####*"
After looking at the above for the [ ] wildcard, it became clear that I could subsitute [0-9] for #:
WHERE
Gift_Date NOT LIKE '[0-9][0-9][0-9][0-9]%'
using single quotes and the % wildcard instead of Access' double quotes and * wildcard.
Just putting this out there for anybody else that is new to SQL, like me.

I'm supposed to Sum value in one textbox and than that sum use it in sum in other textbox.
Something like this:

I get error msg 'The Value expression for the textbox 'textbox49' contains an aggregate function (or RunningValue or RowNumber functions) in the argument to another aggregate function (or RunningValue). Aggregate functions cannot be nested inside other aggregate functions.'
Something like this wont work either Sum(Fields!abc.Value/ReportItems("textbox56").Value)*100
Error The Value expression for the textbox 'textbox55' uses an aggregate function on a report item. Aggregate functions can be used only on report items contained in page headers and footers.
So, pls help if you know how to reference textbox in other in body of report.

I have a big problem. If anyone can help.
I want to retrieve the last update time of database. Whenever any update or delete or insert happend to my database i want to store and retrieve that time.
I know one way is that i have to make a table that will store the datetime field and system trigger / trigger that can update this field record whenever any update insert or deletion occur in database.
But i don't know exactly how to do the coding for this?
Is there any other way to do this?
can DBCC help to retrieve this info?
Please advise me how to do this.

We have a SQL database that uses Active Directory with Windows Authentication. Can users that are members of the Active Directory group that has read/write access to the SQL database create ODBC connections to access the database directly and update the data? They dont have individual logins on the server. They are only members of the Active Directory group that has a login?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI had to to relocate the database log file and I issued an Alter database command but by mistake I put a space in the file name as below. The space is at the beginning file name. Now I am unable get the database loaded to SQL Server. The database has 2 replications configured, so deleting and re-attaching the database means the replication needs to be re-configured. Is there an alternative way to issue a command to update the database FILENAME ? Not sure if this can be edited in master database (sys files).
ALTER DATABASE [User_DB]
MODIFY FILE (NAME = User_DB_log, FILENAME = 'I:SQLLogs User_DB_log.ldf')
