Upgrading From VS03/SqlMSDE To VS05/SQLExpress

We are upgrading from VS03/SqlMSDE to VS05/SQLExpress. The VS part was easy, the SQL part is not.

I have spent hours reading about the "Copy Always" option for a local stand alone computer SQL database that is part of the solution. I don't understand why this is an advantage...it seems to me to be downright dangerous....but it is the default. In simple terms, given the potential of loosing data, why would Microsoft make this the default (i.e. preferred way of doing something?)

On this same issue, I saw the following suggestion as a way to leave Copy Always but avoid the problems:


In the solution explorer -> right click on the database
select modify connection -> advanced options
search for the property AttachDbFileName -> c:...debugin

This specifically defeats Microsofts intent, so I am leary. Any thoughts?

The DataAdapters and DataSets in the VS 03 Component designer simply did not translate to VS 05. I can rebuild them all, but is there a better way? For example, the data adapters are still in a component designer document, but they did not translate to Table Adapters in the dataset designer (i.e. right click on a data set in Data Sources, view DataSet Designer), so they are basically unuseable. Is there a converstion tool? Any ideas?
