FTP Task Not Working As Expected - File Not Downloading

Feb 11, 2008

I have a package with an FTP task in the Control Flow. Nothing complicated, its configured to download a file from FTP with overwrite true, and the get and download paths in variables. Once this step completes it goes to a sequence container that does stuff with the file, that part works fine.

The problem is if i run the package in debug mode using Visual Studio, everything works perfectly (even if run over and over). The problem occurs if i use my "driver" application to try and execute the package. All my driver does is use C# code to create an Application object, set the PackagePassword, LoadPackage based on the path and then .Execute().

Here is when the strangeness begins:. If the file exists in the destination path, then the FTP task fires. If the file does not exist (lets say i manually delete it after its being downloaded before using the IDE) the FTP task dose not fire and my Sequence Container fails to use the fail, since it is of course missing.

Monitoring the FTP server that i am running locally i can see commands firing when the file exists, but when the file is killed it never even tries to connect to my server. Very odd.

Am i missing something? Why would this work from the IDE but never from my driver?

Any help would be appreciated. Please let me know if any additional detail is required.

Deploying Web App, Which SQL Files Do I Upload?..

Nov 24, 2004

I'm working on a web application that uses SQL Server 2000. Once I'm ready to upload my website to a production server, I need to know how to upload my SQL Server database files to the server. Are there actual files that can be uploaded? I've only deployed a website that works with MySQL to a production server, and there were no files to upload... the database had to be created on the server, and then the data itself had to be exported to text files (on my computer), then imported/uploaded to the production server using SQL statements...

How do I do this?

Thanks~

Bulk Upload Files

Jun 22, 2008

i have tried to move upload of files from SQL2000 to SQl2005.
in SQL2005 i have created a JOB in which has 2 steps,each one of them activates the same batch files i used in SQL2000 (where i have change the server name and so on),for example :

for %%f in ( %BULK_UPLOAD_BASE%Temp%1*.txt) do bcp "db1.dbo.Test_TargetTable" in %%f -S SERVER-REP -U n145 -h "TABLOCK" -e %BULK_UPLOAD_BASE%ErrorErr10.txt -o %BULK_UPLOAD_BASE%LogsOutput10.txt -P n145 -C RAW -f %BULK_UPLOAD_BASE%format_with_RawData_4test.fmt

when irun this code in a bat file, the data is loaded with no problem.
when i run the JOB i see in the LOG that everything was ok, but actually the data fromthe files was not loaded - any idea why?

Dynamic Transformation To Upload Flat Files Into Database

Feb 6, 2007

Hi,

My scenario:

I have 4 different flat files types each having different no. of column, order of columns etc. I want to upload all the 4 types into the same destination table in the SQL database. Before uploading I need to apply transformation to each column in the flat files. The transformations could be like

1) Multipying the source column by 100

2) Put an if condition for 2 source columns and then select one column to be copied into the destination.

I have the flat files schema with me and also all the transformations that are required.

Question:

Can SSIS provide me with a component that can read the flat file schema and the transformations from the database and apply them to the source data and then upload it to the constant destination table? Can derived column transformation be provided with the input columns list and the transformation to be done on each dynamically?

Why I want this way?

In future there can be an addition of extra flat file formats and we want to keep the changes to the SSIS packages to he mininum. Just entereing the addiional schema and transformation details in the database should run the package on the new flat file successfully.

Thanks for your time.

Regards,

$wapnil

SQL CONNECTION - INSERT - RETRIEVE ID - Rename File - UPLOAD FILE

Sep 15, 2007

Hi there,
I have inherited a databse and am building a new website to go wiht it.
There is a file upload page which will upload images to a directory.  I need to insert into the database retrieve the id just added then upload the image renaming it in the format locID(QueryString)_ImageID(retrieved from database).jpg
The page has a file upload control and a button.
I am trying to write my code behind so that when the button is clicked it inserts location id into the images table retrieves Image id. Renames the file and uploads it to the images folder.
II think i need to call the routine from another routine for the button click but the signatures are different, where am i going wrong? or for that matter have i been pissing into the wind for the last 4 hours?
CODE BEHIND

Imports System.Data
Imports System.Data.SqlClientPartial Class admin_Add_Images
Inherits System.Web.UI.PageProtected Sub UploadImage(ByVal Sender As Object, ByVal e As SqlDataSourceStatusEventArgs)
Dim LocationId As String = Request.QueryString(ID)

SQL Server 2008 :: Upload 1000 Text Files Into One Table - Skip Last Row?

Jul 19, 2015

Im trying to upload 1000 txt files into one table in SQL. I'm using the following query, to upload one txt file at a time:

bulk insert [dbo].AAA_2013_2015
from 'dataserverSQL Data FilesSQL_EMELIZFC x Bloque Detallada201308 Detalle FacturasFACT_BLOQ_AGO13 (4).txt'
with (firstrow = 2,
lastrow = ???,
fieldterminator = ';',
rowterminator = '0x0A')

I'm trying that the query skip the last row because gives me the following error:

Msg 4866, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
The bulk load failed. The column is too long in the data file for row 1, column 17. Verify that the field terminator and row terminator are specified correctly.
Msg 7399, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
The OLE DB provider "BULK" for linked server "(null)" reported an error. The provider did not give any information about the error.
Msg 7330, Level 16, State 2, Line 1
Cannot fetch a row from OLE DB provider "BULK" for linked server "(null)".

know a command to skip the last row, something like lastrow= all-1...or something like that.

I also executed using MAXERRORS command...like this:

bulk insert [dbo].AAA_2013_2015
from 'dataserverSQL Data FilesSQL_EMELIZFC x Bloque Detallada201308 Detalle FacturasFACT_BLOQ_AGO13 (15).txt'
with (firstrow = 2,
fieldterminator = ';',
MAXERRORS = max_errors,
rowterminator = '0x0A')

does not recognize MAXERRORS command, also tried to put a number of error instead of max_errors.

Adding File Information To SQL Database On File Upload

Apr 18, 2004

Hi there :)

I'm in the final stage of my asp.net project and one of the last things I need to do is add the following file information to my SQL server 2000 database when a file is uploaded:

First of all I have a resource table to which I need to add:
- filename
- file_path
- file_size
(the resource_id has a auto increment value)

so that should hopefully be straight forward when the file is uploaded. The next step is to reference the new resource_id in my module_resource table. My module resource table consists of:
- resource_id (foreign key)
- module_id (foreign key)

So, adding the module_id is easy enough as I can just get the value using Request.QueryString["module_id"]. The bit that I am unsure about is how to insert the new resource_id from the resource table into the module_resource table on file upload. How is this done? Using one table would solve the issue but I want one resource to be available to all modules - many to many relationship.

Any ideas?

Many thanks :)

Upload File Only Works For Dbo

Nov 6, 2007

Hi there,
My problem is that the upload works in testing for our asp.net site only for dbo. Being mindful of security, I would prefer not use this account to execute all sp_/sql. One solution could be using impersonation only in the content management system where the uploading is done, this is code in web.config:
  <location path="Manage.aspx">    <system.web>    <identity impersonate="true" userName="dbo" password="****" />      <authorization>        <deny users="?" />      </authorization>    </system.web>  </location>
To do this I would have to change the dbo password as set up by previous employee, not a real dba so not sure of the implications (enough permissions to be dangerous though;). Is the above impersonation ok, or should I redo logins security in sql? Thanks.

HTTP File Upload

Aug 11, 2006

I'm looking for a way with Integration Services in SQL'05 to upload a file. How could I do this? Is there any examples out there?

This partuclar HTTP Server has WEBDAV configured so if I could just point to the URL location and new FILE that would be excellent.

Thanks

Upload And Save A PDF File Into MS SQL Databse

Apr 13, 2007

Hi guys,
 I want to update a PDF file and store it in the MSSQL database. (I know it is better if I save the file on server and just store the link to it, but I have to store the file on the database "Project Requirements")
I would probably use FileUpload control to upload the file. but would I upload it to server temporarly and then save it or would I just upload it to DB.
I appreciate your help and suggestions and any tips & tricks or issue that I have to consider.
Regards,Mehdi

SQL Server 2000 File Upload

Oct 9, 2007

hi
i am using VS2003 and .net 1.1. i need to upload a cert file into sql server 2000. code is as follows, i am not sure if this code is working or not, its not giving any error nor throwing any exception. in this function i am only converting ther .cer file to byte array. and in other function i am passing this byte to a stored procedure. in stored procedure i have declare a parameter as "@cert binary". i cant see the binary data in sql server 2000, its only showin <binary> in that column. i need to download this file now, how can i do that. Dim selectedCert As HttpPostedFile
Dim certLength As Integer
Dim isValid As Boolean = False
'Dim imageType As String
'Dim fileUpload As System.Web.UI.HtmlControls.HtmlInputFile = .FindControl("fileUpload")
selectedCert = fileUpload.PostedFile
certLength = selectedCert.ContentLength
'imageType = selectedCert.ContentType
Session.Add("isDefaultLogo", 0) ' To check if default logo is used
If fileUpload.PostedFile.ContentLength = 0 Then
' DO NOTHING
ElseReDim binaryCert(certLength - 1)
'check if there a certificate file or not
If (selectedCert.ContentLength = 0) Then
' DO SOMETHING
Else
selectedCert.InputStream.Position = 0
selectedCert.InputStream.Read(binaryCert, 0, certLength - 1)
Response.Write(selectedCert.ContentType.ToString)
If (selectedCert.ContentType.ToLower <> "application/x-x509-ca-cert") Then
lblMsg.Visible = True
lblMsg.Text = "Only Certificate (*.cer) files are allowed."
isValid = True
Return False
End If
End If
End If
If isValid Then
TryDim strm As IO.FileStream = System.IO.File.Open(System.IO.Path.GetFullPath(fileUpload.PostedFile.FileName), IO.FileMode.Open, IO.FileAccess.Read, IO.FileShare.ReadWrite)ReDim binaryCert(strm.Length - 1)
strm.Read(binaryCert, 0, strm.Length)
strm.Close()Catch ex As Exception
Return False
End Try
End If

thnx in advance
cheers
