Fail SSDT Project Build When A Stored Procedure Call Missing Required Parameter?

Jun 17, 2015

Is it possible to force a build to fail when a stored procedure in a project calls another stored procedure with one or more required parameters missing. E.g.:

CREATE PROCEDURE [App].[ServiceUser_Save]
@userID int-- Param #0
,@serviceuserID int-- Param #1
,@version int-- Param #2 etc...

And then in a separate stored procedure we have the following

CREATE PROCEDURE [Admin].[CreateMiscellaneousData]
@customerIDint,
@serviceIDint,
@fullURL nvarchar(255),
@apiUserPwd nvarchar(255)
AS
BEGIN
...
EXEC@return_value = [App].[ServiceUser_Save]
@userID = 1,
@serviceuserID = 0, etc...

Note there is no value passed for the @Version parameter.

What I want is the build to fail because of the missing parameter on the call to ServiceUser_Save in the Create_MiscellaneousData stored procedure.

How can I achieve this?

Urgent Help Required IN Merge Replication

Aug 4, 2004

HI,
We have one publisher and 100 subscribers. And Subscribers again act as re-publisher for 3-4 win CE (Handheld) based device subscribers. Now. We have already done the setup and it is working fine.
Now due to some change in horizontal filters set in the publisher, we have change in publication. NOw whenever I make any change in publication, it says all subscribers will be marked for reinitialization and snapshot agent will run and new schema will be applied whenever next time merge agent runs.
But whenever I run the merge agent, the snapshot agent fails saying invalid column ... . I am not able to revert the changes as the same error persists even after bringing the publication back to the original state.
To add to the complexity, we have also used dynamic snapshots between publisher and suscribers.
So, Can anyone please tell me how can I change the publication script without deleting the subscribers?Any pointers in this direction are really appreciated.

Regards
Rahul

May 25, 2008

Hi All,

First of all its very very urgent. Secondly I am not an expert.

Now here is my problem.

I want to loop through my html files and want to save the data in my table column. here is the Code which need correction.

CODE:
USE [AdventureWorks]
DECLARE @cmd varchar(1000);
DECLARE @FileName varchar(100);
DECLARE @FilePath varchar(100);
SET @FileName = 'C: est'+@FilePath+'html';
SET @cmd = 'INSERT INTO myTable(FileName, FileType, Document)' +
'SELECT ' + @FilePath + ', FileType,
* FROM OPENROWSET(BULK @FileName, SINGLE_CLOB) AS Document'

EXEC (@cmd);
Select * from myTable

Just for practice I am using Adventureworks db. I am using SQL Express 2005.

My html files are named something like this:

repair_allow_data_loss is the minimum repair level for the errors found by DBCC CHECKDB (msdb ).
DBCC execution completed. If DBCC printed error messages, contact your system administrator.

Please let me know the followings, as I never found issues with MSDB database before... I read that this database only keep track of your SQL Server agent jobs so at wrost I will end up loosing all my Maitenance plans? or will I loose something else

1. Should I restore MSDB backup up takes 3 days ago?
2. Or should I repair it with data loss? will it effect any Database entries?

SQL Server Triggers- New Person -Help Required-Urgent

Mar 10, 2008

Please help me in sorting out my Problem Providing me the solution .
My Problem is
I have a master table with Primary key on ID field (PatientID-(Patient-Table)) and it is an Identity field
And My child table has the same ID field(PatientID-(PatientDetails-Table)) and it has the relationship set
And the child table has its own Primary key of its own ID field(PatientdetailsID).
What I want is as soon as enter row of data into the master table (Patient-Table)and click save on my front end application(Which is ASP.Net web application)
I want to update Child Table’S (PatientDetails)ID field ( ie.,PaientID in the PatientDetailsTable) in the  Child Table   which relates the parent table ,by doing so I want to  update the Primary key field (ie.,PatientDetailsID)  & ForeignKey Field (PatientID)of the child table and to create row  in the child table  with two columns .(PatientID,&PatientDetailsID)
What I want to achieve is in my ASP.net Application as soon as I enter Master table
I want to Edit Child tables (about 15) one by one like a Wizard pages which will have The ID Field(PatientID) same in all my wizard pages .
I want to know whether I can incorporate triggers if so in which table (is it in Patient or PatientDetails) and I will be grateful If anyone gives the Script to-do  so.I am also providing my two table sripts.
Sripts:CREATE TABLE [dbo].[Patient](      [PatientID] [int] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL,      [Date] [smalldatetime] NULL,      [UserID] [int] NULL,      [FirstName] [varchar](40) NOT NULL,      [Surname] [varchar](30) NOT NULL,      [DOB] [datetime] NULL,      [Age]  AS (floor(datediff(day,[DOB],getdate())/(365.25))),      [Sex] [varchar](10) NULL,      [Occupation] [varchar](30) NULL,      [Ethinicity] [varchar](60) NULL,      [HomeTel] [varchar](15) NULL,      [Mobile] [varchar](15) NULL,      [varchar](40) NULL,      [AddressLine1] [varchar](30) NULL,      [Line2] [varchar](30) NULL,      [Line3] [varchar](30) NULL,      [City] [varchar](20) NULL,      [PostCode] [varchar](15) NULL, CONSTRAINT [PK_Patient] PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED (      [PatientID] ASC)WITH (PAD_INDEX  = OFF, STATISTICS_NORECOMPUTE  = OFF, IGNORE_DUP_KEY = OFF, ALLOW_ROW_LOCKS  = ON, ALLOW_PAGE_LOCKS  = ON) ON [PRIMARY]) ON [PRIMARY] GOSET ANSI_PADDING OFFGOALTER TABLE [dbo].[Patient]  WITH CHECK ADD  CONSTRAINT [FK_Patient_User] FOREIGN KEY([UserID])REFERENCES [dbo].[User] ([UserID])GOALTER TABLE [dbo].[Patient] CHECK CONSTRAINT [FK_Patient_User] CREATE TABLE [dbo].[PatientDetails](      [PatientID] [int] NOT NULL,      [PatientDetID] [int] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL,      [Date] [smalldatetime] NULL,      [NHSNumber] [varchar](12) NULL,      [HospitalRefID] [varchar](10) NULL,      [Ovaries] [varchar](15) NULL,      [ReportFromGP] [image] NULL,      [LMP] [datetime] NULL,      [DateStopped] [datetime] NULL,      [Comment] [varchar](150) NULL, CONSTRAINT [PK_PatientDetails_1] PRIMARY KEY CLUSTERED (      [PatientDetID] ASC)WITH (PAD_INDEX  = OFF, STATISTICS_NORECOMPUTE  = OFF, IGNORE_DUP_KEY = OFF, ALLOW_ROW_LOCKS  = ON, ALLOW_PAGE_LOCKS  = ON) ON [PRIMARY]) ON [PRIMARY] TEXTIMAGE_ON [PRIMARY] GOSET ANSI_PADDING OFFGOALTER TABLE [dbo].[PatientDetails]  WITH CHECK ADD  CONSTRAINT [FK_PatientDetails_Patient] FOREIGN KEY([PatientID])REFERENCES [dbo].[Patient] ([PatientID])GOALTER TABLE [dbo].[PatientDetails] CHECK CONSTRAINT [FK_PatientDetails_Patient]
I want to incorporate this through database level .
I am using SQL Server2005-Express
Although  Iam using ASP.net C# I am new and I will not be able to do this in my front end.

Data Copy Error . Help Required . Urgent Please !

Jun 4, 2002

Hi Friends ,

When i try to copy one table , say for e.g table x from SQL 6.5 to SQL 7.0 it gives me an error that -

'Insert Error , column 46 ( 'Coloumn_name ',DBTYPE_DBTIMESTAMP), Status 6 :
Data overflow .
Invalid character value for cast specification .'

This column on the source server ( SQL 6.5 ) has datatype 'datetime ' with value 8 and is NULL .

Although there are other columns in this table with datatype as 'datetime' as 8 and NULL , they have been copied successfully to the destination table .Only this specific column is giving an error while copying data .

I am using import export wizard to copy data between servers .
Since i have no experience with this , would like to have a solution from you to this problem. It will be great help for me .

Thank you very much ,
Alisha .

Urgent: Strong SAPWD Required On Win2003

Jun 3, 2008

Hi folks.

I just tried to perform the install of SQLServer 2005 Express on a Win 2003 SP2 machine and the install failed with the rejection of the SA password. Currently, our pwd is 1 uppercase letter, 4 lowercase letters and 1 number for a total of 6 characters. Other installations on Win 2003 SP1 have worked fine in the past. I read in a recent version of Books Online that the SA pwd guidelines might have recently changed and that 8 characters might now be required.

My question is: do these new 8 character guidelines apply only to the sa pwd or to all logins?

Thanks!

Mike

Urgent Help Required: Passing Schema As A Variable

Nov 15, 2007

I am extracting data from multiple schemas with same structure. I have a table which have all the schema listed.Using Execute Sql task and For each loop, I am reading that table and string the value in a variable.
It is like this

"Select TK_ID,TK_TOKEN from " + @[User::Column1] + ".Tokens"

Column 1 is schema name.

Now I create a DATA FLOW TASK which has a OLEDB Source and OLEDB destination.
Using the option " Sql Command from variable" when I select the variable.
Since the Column1 will be evaluated at runtime , it doesnt give me any output columns to map to OLEDB destiantion and this throwing error.
OLEDB source output contains no output columns, The layout Validation failed.

Please help asap, my project is stuck.

Team Project In TFS - SSIS Project Sets Itself As The Startup Project

May 29, 2008

For some reason in a Team Foundation Team Project that has multiple project types (SSRS, SSIS, WebSite, C# Business DLL...), the SSIS project makes itself the startup project to the team project. If I explicitly set another project as the startup project to the team project and then select an SSIS package in the SSIS project in the team project, the SSIS project becomes the startup project automatically.

I am using Visual Studio 2005 SP1.

Problem In Opening The Project..Make Sure The Application For The Project Type (.dtproj) Is Installed.

Jun 24, 2007

Hi,

I have been working on some SSIS packages for a while now and today while i was working i was trying to create a new connection and in the process there was an error and it said the BIDS has to be closed and i closed it but later when i open BIDS and try to open my project(.sln) from the file menu to work on the half done package it pops up an error which shows the path to my project location on the first line and next statement on the pop up error box says:

"Make Sure the application for the project type (.dtproj) is installed."

I tried to check some forums in which some suggested to try installing SP1 which i tried but ..i dont know why but the SP1 fails to install (i dont know if its causing problem becoz i already installed SP2 as i had some other problem before for which the cure was to install SP2).

Did anyone here face such a problem before ?

I'd really appreciate if the experts here can tell a cure for this problem.

thanks,

Ravi

Visual Studio 2005 Automatically Sets SSIS Project As Startup Project

Feb 23, 2007

I have a Visual Studio 2005 solution which contains a Sql Server Integration Services (SSIS) project.

In this solution I have explicitly set a Web application project as startup project, but whenever I edit a DTS package within the SSIS project, VS automatically sets the SSIS project as startup project and the package I edit as startup object.

Needless to say, this may cause some really unwanted incidents when running the solution - thinking that you're about to run the Web application project (that was explicitly set as startup project), but instead, you run the edited package in the SSIS project.

Is there any way to avoid having the SSIS project automatically setting itself as startup project, any workaround here at all? :)

Thanks.

Can't Create A Setup Project For Project Referencing Microsoft.SqlServer.ManagedDTS

Feb 3, 2007

I have a very small project written in VB.Net 2005 using the SQL Server 2005 SSiS DTSx package.

I took a SQL Server 2000 dts package and using the SQL Server 3005 legacy tools migrated it so I could still use the package withing SQL 2005 until I can build one using BI/SSIS.

Anyway,I added the reference Microsoft.SqlServer.ManagedDTS so I could then use the Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime so I can execute the commands:

Dim oApp As New Application
Dim oPkg As New Package
oPkg = oApp.LoadPackage(g_DTSx_Directory & "AOC copy Generic1 CSV to AOC_verify_file_1.dtsx", Nothing)
Dim oResults As DTSExecResult
oResults = oPkg.Execute

Ok. That works fine. Executes without a hitch. So now I try and create a setup project for this and I use the setup wizard.

During the creation of the setup project I get a message that states:
The following files may have dependencies that cannot be determined automatically. Please confirm that all dependencies have been added to the project.
C:windowssystem32msxml6.dll

OK. The dll is part of the reference I mentioned above and I have no idea what other dependencies it may have.

How do I find this out?

Has anyone else created a project like this and experenced the same?

I am on a clean build running WinXP Pro with SP2 - VS2005 with SP1 and the SQL Server 2005 tools.

Integration Services :: Automate Process Of Creating A Project On SSISDB Based On SSIS Project Name?

Apr 20, 2015

I've got an SSIS solution file with project deployment model in VS 2013 and would like to deploy that to SSISDB on different environments.All these days I followed the regular way to create a project in SSISDB and deploy it to that. Now want to find out if i can automate this process and so got some questions

1. Can we automate the process of creating a project on SSISDB based on our SSIS project name?  This will be like when we do a deployment it should check if the project exists or not on SSISDB based on our SSIS project name, if the project exists we just deploy the packages in the project and if the project does not exists in SSISDB it will create that project and deploy the packages.

2. Can we also automate the process of creating environments? In traditional way we manually create the environment variables under environment tab of SSISDB, but can we make that also as part of deployment? Like when we are releasing to Dev server we look if that particular Dev variable exists on that server, if it exists we just update the existing stuff and if it does not exists we just create it.

SQL Requirement

May 17, 2008

Hi
I am looking to buy an SQL server2005 with 5 CAL's for my company in UK to fulfill our database management requirements. There seems to be a big difference between the US and UK prices. The US prices are somewhere around half the price of what i could get in UK. Are there any tax implications if i order one from US. Would there be any problems of registration if i buy from US. Any answers would be greatly appreciated.
I need to order them asap.

COPY/PASTE From Project To Project

Jan 12, 2007

Howdy again...

Do I need to re-create a new package from scratch after doing what I did?
It seems I've made what is probably a typical newbie mistake: I used COPY/PASTE
to
consolidate containers from two packages into a single new project/package.

Now my new package generates multiple duplicate errors (23 of each...) whenever I open it:

Warning loading LoadBillingData.dtsx: Process configuration failed to set the
destination at the package path of "PackageData Flow Task to Load
Profiles, Versions, and
Transactions.EventHandlers[OnError].Variables[System::Propagate].Properties[Namespace]".
This occurs when attempting to set the destination property or variable fails.
Check the destination property or variable.

Error loading LoadBillingData.dtsx: Changing the name of a variable failed
because it is a system variable. System variables are read-only.

What happened:

new guy (goes without saying...) creates:

01. PROJECT A
02. add PACKAGE
A to PROJECT A
03. add some
containers, figger out what the heck is going on, get containers working
04. create
PROJECT B
05. create
PACKAGE B
06. add
containers, they work fine
07. whoops!
Want to consolidate the packages. Unix guy naively expects Bill has made MS
Visual Studio like all windows products (of which newbie is aware€¦):
08. create
PROJECT C
09. create
PACKAGE C
10. <ctrl
a> PACKAGE A
11. <crtl
c> PACKAGE A
12. <ctrl
v> PACKAGE C
13. <ctrl
a> PACKAGE B
14. <crtl
c> PACKAGE B
15. <ctrl
v> PACKAGE C
16. copy Flat
File Connection Managers
17. copy
Database Connection Manager
18. drag the
arrows around, fix the flat file sources, renew the column maps, etc
19. whoops! the
connections all look like a registry number! Fix the OLE DB Destinations,
Execute SQL Task containers by selecting the DB Connection Manager copied from
PROJECT A

20. successfully
execute PROJECT C/PACKAGE C
21. save all
22. exit
23. start MS
Visual Studio
24. Open
Solution
25. ERRORS!!!

Is this fixable?

Thanks,
Bill
