DTS FTP Task Unable To Connect To Internet

Jul 9, 2004

I created a DTS FTP task to connect to an FTP site. The problem I'm having is the folder I want to access you cannot see under the Files Tab. So if I put the ftp site/subdirectory in the FTP Site box, I get the error "Unable to connect to internet! Please check the source site information, your username and password"

If I go to the FTP site/subdirectory in IE all the files show up fine. I believe this is limitation of DTS, but I would like to hear from you all first.

To see what error I'm talking about:
Create a DTS FTP task
Use: ftp.microsoft.com/bussys/ with no username or password
Click the Files Tab

Normally you can just put the server name in, and see all the folders/files, but the way my FTP site is set up I cannot see the folder I want, I can only access it.

DB2 Connect And SSIS | Error In OLE DB Source Task

Jul 10, 2007

Hi All,

I am trying to connect to DB2 database via OLE DB connection manager in SSIS. But when I enter the SQL Query and press OK it gives following error

"Error at Data Flow Task - Header Load [OlE DB Source - Header_Load[1]]": An OLE DB Error has occured. Error Code: 0x80040E21

Additional Information:

Exception from HRESULT: 0xC0202009(Microsoft.SqlServer.DTSPipelineWrap)"

I followed following steps: -

1. I created OLE DB provider and tested the connection, it was successful(with give username and password)

2. Created query in Build query as following and tried executing it. It worked! Query used was

SELECT SRC_ID, ORG_ID FROM DB123.DEAL_HEADER

3. But when, in OLE DB Source Provider Task, when I press preview, It thorws the above error!

Kindly let me know, Because I am stuck at that point.

Thanks

How To Connect ExecuteSQLTask With Data Flow Task

Mar 8, 2007

Hi, there;
I am doing my first SSIS project that moves data from dbf file to SQL2005.
What I did here is that I created a dataflow task (move data)with ASP.NET successfully (Very happy!). Now I want to create an ExecuteSQLTask that runs before data flow runs. This ExecuteSQLTask is used used to create a table if there is no destination table in the SQL2005.
This can be done easily in SSIS design mode, just need to connect those two box with a green line: )
I had a look example from MS website, but I didn't find a code example to connect this two task.
Does anybody know how to resolve this or have any link with sample code?

Big thanks here.

Cannot Connect W/ Java App But Can Connect W/ .Net App - SQL Server Express 2005

Dec 12, 2006

I'm having a problem connecting with a Java application but I CAN connect using my .Net application - the user name and password are the same for both (using the same database on SQL Server Express 2005).

The error I get is: "com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: Cannot open database "CORNERS" requested by the login. The login failed." An interesing note - I get the same message if the database is not running.

SQL Server Express 2005 is installed in mixed mode.

Here is my connection string in the .Net appplication: <add key="connectString" value="Server=(local);UID=sa;PWD=myPasswd;Database=CORNERS" />.

These are my values in my Java app web.xml -

<init-param>
<param-name>DBDriver</param-name>
<param-value>com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver</param-value>
</init-param>
<init-param>
<param-name>DBURL</param-name> <param-value>jdbc:sqlserver://localhostsqlexpress:1055;databaseName=CORNERS</param-value>
</init-param>
<init-param>
<param-name>DBUser</param-name>
<param-value>sa</param-value>
</init-param>
<init-param>
<param-name>DBPwd</param-name>
<param-value>myPasswd</param-value>
</init-param>.

And yes, the port is 1055 - I checked to find it.

I am using Microsoft SQL Server 2005 JDBC Driver 1.0 (sqljdbc_1.0.809.102).

Does anyone have any idea what is wrong so that the login fails in the Java application but works in the .Net application?

SSIS Task Transfer SQL Server Objects Task And Default Constraints On Tables

Feb 21, 2008

I am using the "Transfer SQL Server Objects Task" to copy some tables from database A to database B including data.

The tables, primary key constraints, Foreign key, data and all transfers nicely except for "DEFAULT CONSTRAINTS" on the tables.

I have failed to find any option in the "Transfer SQL Server Objects Task" task to explicitly say "copy default constraints". So I guess logically it should happen automatically but it doesn't. I hope it is not a bug :-)

Any option anyone knows will help.

Thanks.

SSIS (Integration Services) Transfer SQL Server Objects Task: This Task Can Not Participate In A Transaction

Feb 1, 2007

In short, does the €œTransfer SQL Server Objects Task€? support distributed transactions?

In trying to use a €œTransfer SQL Server Objects Task€? in a container using a transaction on the container. The task is set to support the transaction. It is setup to copy table data from several tables from a non-domain server (sql server 2000) to a domain-based server (sql server 2005). I get an error stating, €œThis task can not participate in a transaction€?.

I am wondering if it means exactly what it says €“ this task in SSIS can€™t participate at all. Or does it mean that it won€™t in this scenario for some reason. I attempted a simple copy of data from mssql 2005 to mssql 2005 (same server) and the task still failed). MSDTC appears to be running properly on my machine and such (I can do a simple distributed transaction across linked server to the 2000 server in Query Analyzer (QA)). Also, MSDTC appears to be working on both servers with distributed transaction query tests in QA.

Here€™s the error info€¦

Send Mail Task Problem Using A Combination Of ForEach Loop, Recordset Destination, Execute SQL Task And Script Task

Jun 21, 2007

OK. I give up and need help. Hopefully it's something minor ...

I have a dataflow which returns email addresses to a recordset.

I pass this recordset into a ForEachLoop configuring the enumerator as (Foreach ADO Enumerator). I also map the email address as a variable with index 0.

I then have a Execute SQL task which receives this email address as a varchar variable (parameter 0) which I then use in my SQL command to limit the rows returned. I have commented out the where clause and returned all rows regardless of email address to try to troubleshoot this problem. In either event, I then use a resultset to store the query result of type object and result name 0.

I then pass this resultset into a script variable to start parsing the sql rows returned as type object. ( I assume this is the correct way to do this from other prior posts ...).

The script appears to throw an exception at the following line. I assume it's because I'm either not passing in the values properly or the query doesn't return anything. However, I am certain the query works as it executes just fine at the command prompt.

Try

ds = CType(Dts.Variables("VP_EMAIL_RESULTS_RS").Value, DataSet)

My intent is to email the query results to each email address with the following type of data by passing the parsed data from the script to a send mail task. Email works fine and sends out messages but the content is empty. I pass the parsed data as string values to the messagesource and define the messagesourcetype as a variable in the mail task.

part number leadtime

x 5

y 9

....

Does anyone have any idea what I might be doing wrong?

thanks

Can't Connect .Net Application From Windows Server 2003 To Database Server (SQL Server 2000)

Apr 3, 2008

Hi,
I am having a problem connecting my .net applications from the application server to the database server. When I run the application from my windows xp (sp2) box it works fine. When I try to connect via SQL Management Studio to the database server from the application server I get the same error.
Here is the error:
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server.  When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)
 Here is the Environment:
App Server:
Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition
Inside Company's Firewall/ Network
Database Server:
Windows Server 2000 Advanced Edition
SQL Server 2000 SP4
Remote Connections to the Server is checked
Enable Protocols: Named Pipes & TCP/IP
TCP/IP Port: 1402 (I don't know why it isn't the default of 1433)
The db server is sitting out side the Company's firewall (don't ask me why). I can access it fine from inside the firewall on my XP box but not from windows server 2003. There is a web server outside the our network that also connects to the db server with no problem and that is running Windows Server 2003 Web Edition.
I can ping the db server from the app server using the IP address.
I tried using the IP address and the port 1402 in my connection string but that didn't work from any machine (XP and Server).
I imagine the issue is somehow related to the company's firewall but why would it only block Windows Server 2003 and not XP?
What do I tell the network admin to change?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Oran

How Do I Connect Client Machines To SQL Server 2005 Installed On A Windows 2003 Server

Apr 11, 2008

I am new to SQL server 2005

Windows 2003 Server and all client PCs are all on the same network. I installed SQL 2005 std version on windows server 2003 and created a database and tables in it.

I have two users, who want to connect to SQL server 2005 from their PCs (they have windows XP):

These are two things that I need to facilitate:

1) They want to be able to write queries using Query Designer and run from their PCs.

2) I created an MS Access database on my PC, I want to use Access database as a front end to the SQL server database. I will create queries, forms in Access DB, and I want to be able to get the data from SQL server Database to do this. I guess I can use ODBC to connect to tables in SQL server database.

3) I want to connect SQL server to Oracle database, and run oracle stored procedures. I want to load the results of oracle stored procedures into SQL server database tables. I guess I will use IIS for this.

Any suggestions are appreciated, especially with item number 1.

SQL Server Management Studio Cannot Connect To Local Instance Of SQL Server 2005 SP2

Aug 8, 2007

Hello,

I just installed SQL Server 2005 Enterprise edition from my company's DVD. It was installed with the setting of using both Integrated windows authenitication as well as basic named authenication. I installed all the options too: Database Engine, Analysis Services, Reporting Services, SQL Server compact edition, and Integration Services. When I look at services there are: SQL Server Integration Services, SQL Server Analysis Services, SQL Server Reporting Services, and SQL Server Browser. All of which are running. Something that took me offguard was the installation did not ask me to provide an SA password. Other than that, the install looked like it went good.

I was able to connect to the local instance of the SQL Server 2005 using the SQL Server Management Studio. I could connect with SA, or connect with Integrated Windows Authenication. Whoohoo. Off and running! As a matter of fact, for the SA account I could use any password and it would still log me in.

First thing I did was I went in to the copy wizard to attempt to copy a database from a server on our network to my local box. First it asked me for the remote server. Then when I specified my local instance in the wizard, the wizard complained that my local instance was NOT SQL Server 2005. Doh! This I didn't understand. I figured maybe I need to check for MS updates. Sure enough, I found that ther was a SP2 and then a hot-fix for that SP2. I applied both. Now I cannot connect from SQL Server Management studio to my local instance of SQL Server 2005 database server. I get the following error:

"An error occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 2)"

However, I went in to see what other services I could connect to, and here's the results:

Analysis Services : OK!
Reporting Services (Windows Auth/Basic/Forms) : NG "The reporting Services Instance could not be found (Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.UI.RSClient)"
SQL Server Compact Edition : NG "The database cannot be found. Check the path to the database. [ File Name = CCG092 ] (SQL Server Compact Edition ADO.NET Data Provider)
Integration Services : OK!

I can connect to other SQL Server databases on our network. However, just not my local one. No one on the network can connect to me either.

I even turned off my windows firewall and still no luck connecting to my own.

So something really went wrong when I applied SP2, however, admittedly from the error message when I tried to use the copy wizard, something was probably already wrong.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Can't Connect To Local Server Instance MSSQLSERVER In SQL Server Management Studio (SQL2005 Sp2/Vista)

Apr 7, 2007

Can't connect to local server instance MSSQLSERVER in SQL Server Management Studio (SQL2005 sp2/Vista).

SQL Server Configuration Manager reports SQL Server2005 services: SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) Running. This would indicate the name of the SQL server is "MSSQLSERVER" correct? I chose "default" instance during the install and that is the name it gave itself.

I tried connecting to the server using the following for the Server Name: MSSQLSERVER and .MSSQLSERVER neither works.

The only thing that works for my installation is just plain "." (no quotes) and nothing else. Can this be correct because I can't find any reference to this. Thanks.

Unable To Connect To SSIS Or SSRS On SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition Server Via Desktop Connection

Mar 8, 2008

Hi,

I€™ve developed a BI system using the SQL Server 2005 Developer€™s Edition.

SSAS, SSIS and SSRS have been added to a SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition Server in preparation for delivering the developed database to this live environment.

So I am able to connect directly to the Database Engine, SSAS, SSIS and SSRS successfully from the actual SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition box which is sat on a Windows 2003 Server operating system.

However when I launch SQL Server Management Studio from a desk top PC which is connected to the SQL Server Standard Edition box I can€™t connect to either SSIS or SSRS, however I can connect to the Database Engine and it also seems that I can connect to SSAS OK.

I am using Windows Authentication where the I used a SQL Server account which exists with €œsysadmin€? permissions and this SQL Server account has the same login name as the Windows Server 2003 desktop login.

What do I do next please?

Jun 18, 2004

I want to connect to company's SQL Server from home and to connect to home's SQL server from company remotely.
The new released SQL Server Web Data Administrator by Microsoft seems solving my issue.
I use it to connect to different SQL servers in different domains company wide successfully, but I failed to connect to home from company( I have static IP on the home server).
Also I want to know how to configure the sever name if I want to connect to company's SQL Server from home. The company SQL server is inside the firewall with a internal IP. How it works?

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Attempt To Connect To Report Server Failed After Move To New Server

Mar 24, 2008

Hello,

I moved the web app. I'm working on to another machine. Everything seemed to go well. Installed Reporting Services and configuration worked well with green ticks everywhere and I'm running reports in Report manager and in Visual Studio. However running off the web app. gives the message:

"The attempt to connect to Report Server failed" - there's also a ref. to an HTTP 404 error.

In RSWebApplication.config I have :

<ReportServerUrl></ReportServerUrl>

<ReportServerVirtualDirectory>ReportServer</ReportServerVirtualDirectory>

and in RSreportserver.config I have:

<UrlRoot><server IP>/Reportserver</UrlRoot>

The install might not have gone as well as I thought because there was a "ReportServer" website created in IIS at same level as default. (Also Reports and ReportServer as virtual directories under Default website). The rogue website is 'stopped' at present. Would be grateful for any help with this. One thing is that I'm now behind a proxy so I'm using localhost:8080

Ssis Package Can't Connect To Pop Server Over The Internet From Sql Server Agent

Dec 20, 2007

Sql server agent is running under a domain account that is a member of administrators and domain users amongst others, and the package is executed as the service account. Connecting to servers on the same domain works and when I run it from the msdb package store in ssis (ssis runs under the network service account ...) it will connect to the pop server as well. Permissions, fiddly proxies .. the answer's out there somewhere
