Want To Link SQL Server DB To MS Exchange E-Mail-Address Data

Hi all,
I'd like to link a SQL Server database / table to Microsoft Exchange Server E-Mail-Address data, for an Employee Directory project.
I've read a little about "Web Store", a little about ExOLEDB, but I've come across nothing along practical lines. I.e., I still don't know where to begin!
For example the "Web Store" should be created on the SQL server, but how do you create it? Any insights will be greatly appreciated.
I am using nt4.0 sp5 with sql7.0 sp3 and exchange client. Does anyone know how to keep xp_sendamil form putting a copy of the mail message in the sent mail folder or an automated process for deleting all mail in the sent folder? As it stands now I must manually delete all messages from the sent mail folder on a daily basis.
I just read that if you use an exchange server...the account that youstart SQL with needs a mail on the exchange box.Is this true?I know I didn't need an account when I've set it up before...but Imight have been using a POP3 server.I have Outlook 2003 installed on the server. I would like to configure e-mail alerts on my SQL Server 2000 box.However, we also run Exchange on the same machine. I've been told therecould be conflicts/issues having Outlook on the same machine asExchange; and apparently, one needs Outlook to configure a mail profilefor SQL Server Agent.Is there, in fact, anything to worry about? If so, are there anywork-arounds beside moving Exchange to another server? (we've only gotone server, so this is not an option for us at this time).Thanks.- Dana
Is there any way to run SQL Mail with exchange CLOSED? Keeping Exchange always minimized seems rather unneedy, inexperienced developers might just have the tendency to close it. Is there any way to avoid that?
Also, can SQL Mail be configured with something else besides Exchange?
I setup a domain user account and e-mail account for the sql agent. When I want the agent to mail me a message when something happens it puts it in the out box but does not send until I pull up the outlook express and ping the server to send recieve. If I don't have outlook express running in the taskbar, it won't send the message at all. The e-mail is configured as an internet mail component. Any suggestions??
I have set up database mail in SQL 2005. We have an MS Exchange group that is alerted when SQL jobs fail. Two things ; i) I can't seem to be able to use Exchange mail Groups. If I specify the group name SQL returns ;
The mail could not be sent to the recipients because of the mail server failure. (Sending Mail using Account 1 (2007-10-30T15:40:39). Exception Message: Cannot send mails to mail server. (The specified string is not in the form required for an e-mail address.). If Exchange cannot be used in the way that Outlook did then how can we alert a group of users about SQL job failures ?
Therefore I tried specifiying an indiviual email address rather than a group ;
- sending a test message (right click database mail) using the full single email address works fine. - sp_send_dbmail using the full single email address is also fine.
ii) When a job fails the notifications do not seem to work. The Job history log just reports ; NOTE: Failed to notify 'Operator Name ' via email. The SQL Error log reports ; Message [264] An attempt was made to send an email when no email session has been established
However sysmail_help_status_sp indicates that database mail has started. The job fails to notify the operator and in this case it is a single email address.
Anybody got any suggestions, (thanks in advance) ?
I am implementing a fax solution (Right Fax) and pulling email information from a table and passing into a variable. In order to send out a fax via email, the syntax is in the following example below:
Example:
To send a fax from Outlook to Jane Doe at 555-1212, enter:
[RFAX:Jane Doe@/FN=555-1212]
When the following syntax gets passed into the Send Mail Task, into the "To" line and the package is executed I'm receiving the following.
[Send Mail Task] Error: An error occurred with the following error message: "The specified string is not in the form required for an e-mail address.".
[Send Mail Task] Warning: The address in the "To" line is malformed. It is either missing the "@" symbol or is not valid.
I realize it’s a malformed email address. Is it possible to create a group and instead of the fax syntax pass the group name?
I saw from SWYNK that you were able to set up SQL Mail using Lotus Notes. I tried following the post by Edward Alexander but got into some trouble:
We were using MAPI to get to Notes Mail.
1. We know that MAPI works because we were able to send mail by a. using the exchange client (Windows Messaging client) b. using VB script to send a message with MAPI.Session
The problem is that SQL server cannot see the Exchange Profile that was defined on the SQL box.
Database Mail only sends SMTP email messages and logs problemsconnecting to the mail server. However, I also need to log bouncedemails (bad address, etc).Are there any clean ways to do this with Database Mail and Exchange?Or will I have to mix Database Mail with SQL Mail to read bounces outof the inbox? Or, have a .NET windows service that talks to theExchange API?
Has anyone been able to solve the issue with setting up a package in EM, which connects to an Exchange(.edb) database and extracts the data into a SQL Server db. Previous message posts don't offer much insight. So far, all I have is using Access 2000, to connect & move the data, then extract from here. Thanks in advance for any help. BV
I'm usning xp_sendmail to send e-mails to customers. In the From filed of e-mail it shows the user id which runs this process. Can I mask or change this like FROM: Customer service
I try to send a report by email using SSRS subscriptions with recipients defined in an outlook email group. if 1 or more emailid are not a valid ones then SSRS does not send the report to any other valid recipients but displays the bellow error message!
"The e-mail address of one or more recipients is not valid."
In corporate companies, it is a common to find in valid/locked emailids in email group lists which can not be corrected.
Expected functionality: SSRS Subscriptions should send report email to other valid recipients in the mail group.
Could you please suggest a work around or fix the issue?
I have subscriptions that fail because someone's email is no longer valid, where is this error information stored so I can fix the problem? I have a large list and it is hard to do manually. I will be using data driven solutions, but these are existing subscriptions that need to be ran.
Hello, I have created a MS Exchange 2000 link server in my MS SQL Server 2k. I have created a stored procedure (and a view...) using info from that linked server. When I am logged on the server as the Administrator, I can call my stored proc without any problems. When I use another computer (and I am not logged as the admin of the server) and I call the stored procedure, the following error is always raised : Server: Msg 7302, Level 16, State 1, Procedure test_proc, Line 3 " Impossible de créer une instance du fournisseur OLE DB 'exoledb.DataSource.1'. " <== I know it is a french error but it can be translated as : "Unable to instancied the OLE DB 'exoledb.DataSource.1' provider"
I would like to know if I can make run my stored proc in the admin account or what should I do to make it work
This is a bit confusing but here goes: I need to access data in SAP via OLE DB. I can't go direct to the back end database (Oracle), we have to use RFC or BAPI calls to access the SAP data. That's part works, we have a DLL that accesses the SAP data we need.
I have tow server on the same intranet. One server has a sql server 2000 database and the other one has SQL server 2005 databse. The sql 2000 database has a table called employee. When ever a new employee is inserted in the database i would like the same values to be sent to the sql 2005 database. But this cant be done on the application level. It has to be done in the database. The application level can not be changed. I was thinking a trigger but how to achieve the writing from one database to another. If they were on the same server then it would be easier but because they are on different servers i dont know how to do it. Has anyone had similar issue before? Any help is apreciated.
I have searched everywhere for an answer and seems I am either blind or there is no simple solution. Basically I have a need to report on data stored in an Exchange 2003 data store. There is mention of a OLE DB for Exchange 2000 but nothing for Exchange 2003. For example, A company report on time spent on various categories in a staff's calendar, etc. I would like to use SQl 2005 SSIS to extract and reporting services to report. Why is this so difficult? I come from a Lotus Notes / Domino background and there are numerous articles and ways to do this? Please can some MS guru please give me some direction on where to look?

Windows 2003 R2 x64 Enterprise (clustered)
Oracle client 10.2.0.3 (latest as of 2/2/07)
The issue I'm having is I have a link server setup within SQL 2005 connecting to a Oracle 8 database server. The Oracle client I'm using is 10.2.0.3 (latest version from Oracle). From the SQL 2005 server I'm able to query the remote oracle server through the link server I had setup if I query the table directly. If I perform a query to a view on the Oracle server I'm able to see the colum names, but not the data. This only happens when I'm using the Oracle client, if I use the MS client for Oracle it works fine OR if I use SQL Plus.
Now, you're probally asking, why not just use MS's driver... Well, I would If I could, but Microsoft hasn't provided a 64 bit driver for Oracle which I need to create the link server in SQL.

I'm pulling data from XML into tables, but I'm unsure how to link the data after it's imported. This example has names and tasks, and I can pull the data into two tables, but I can't find any way to link the task to the appropriate person. My person and task tables populate without issue, but there's nothing I can find to link the rows together. So in this example Test 1 would go to the first two Tasks and Test 2 would go to the second two work items.

For files from dBF2 folder, I'm able to see the data from oneof the files, but if I double click to see the data from the other,access crashes with no specific error message. I have a sql server 2005 database with Delphi 2006 in the front end and for querrying and reporting we use MS Access 2003 by connecting to this database via ODBC connection. I recently found out that the SQL Server 2005 data connected thus can be edited (updated) from MS Access. I do not want end users to modify/update the SQL Server 2005 data from MS Access while I also want them to have the ability to insert/update/delete rights using the appropriate application interface. For now, I am handling this by creating a user id that is not permitted to update, insert and delete and using the same account in the ODBC. Is there a way in SQL Server 2005 you can control insert/update/delete rights for all users that will be applicable only in the ODBC mode?

Hello Everyone, I am trying to configure SQL MAIL and SQL SERVER AGENT MAIL feature of SQL SERVER 2000 with Lotus Domino server (Not Microsoft Exchange). Every thing goes fine and it works also. Problem starts when I try to restart SQL Agent Service. It hangs and the status of service remain 'starting'... Also the size of the sqlagent service process goes upto 12MB. I don't understand why? Can any one help me in solving this problem. I am using Windows 2000 Advanced Server and SQL Server 2000 with SP3. Domino client is R5.0.5 and Outlook 2000.
Our users enter data into the MS Exchange database using custom Outlook forms. We want to import that data in SQL Server using SQL Server Data Transformation Services (DTS). We do not see Exchange in the Data Source list in the DTS wizard. Is there an easy way to do this? Maybe an OLEDB provider for Exchange?
