Warning Messages && Failure Installing MSSQL 2005 Enterprise Client Tools
Jul 5, 2006I am trying to install the client tools for management purposes only on a IBM T42 laptop which meets all the hardware and software requirements listed on MS support including the HCL list, the Readme, the forums and MSDN but the install still shows the following log messages when the install fails.
AdminMessage = Setup requires user to be in the administrator group in order to continue the installation process. Setup is aborting as the current user is not in the administrator group.
(I am an adminsistrator on this machine)
Property(S): SupportedOSMessage = Installation of this product failed because it is not supported on this operating system. For information on supported configurations, see the product documentation.
Property(S): SupportedProcTypeMessage = This Microsoft SQL Server Native Client package is not supported on the current processor type.
Any help would be appreciated.
Installing MSDTC Resource After Installing SQL Server 2000 Cluster
Oct 19, 2006Is it possible to install and configure the MSDTC resource in a SQL Server 2000 cluster after SQL is installed and running?
When I recently went through a rebuild of my cluster, I forgot to install the resource before installing SQL Server. Now, if I install and bring online the MSDTC resource the SQL disk groups will not fail over correctly. The SQL Server resource will not come online.
Thanks in advance for any help. I would really like to avoid rebuilding again.

SQL Server Agent Warning
Jul 23, 2002Hi
I'm getting a strange sql server agent warning in my server's event log (not in the sql server log). Its occurring after each agent job runs and says:
"Unable to determine if the owner (sa) of job Trans Backup has server access (reason: Unable to connect to server - check SQL Server and SQL Agent errorlogs)."
I have checked the errorlogs - nothing.
My job completes OK, but I get this warning.
I'm running SQL Server 2000 SP2.
I'm running in a cluster.
The problem has only occurred since a reboot yesterday.
Any Ideas?

May 11, 2007Getting this warning when I run my application. I have already read the posts that repeat the 'put it in your path mantra' over and over again. Please, do not redirect me to those posts they are useless. I am telling you I have this DLL in my java.library.path, and I know this because I can load the DLL with java.lang.System.loadLibrary. i even tried the directions on the MSDN sight and put the install path directly into my java.library.path. I still get the warning. Your driver has a bug, please fix it.

Warning: Null value is eliminated by an aggregate or other SET operation. I would like to get rid of this warning missing without just turning off the warning messages.
I would like to change the sql so that it does not occur. The following is my new sql that generates the warning:

Jul 20, 2005Today I need to copy 8 records in a table. I have to use Access 200 becauseof the limitation of Enterprise Manager's inability to cope with field withmore than 900 characters. Selected records, cut, paste. I got an erroormessage about not being able to have a null Key_ID (I copied the reords andtried to paste the Key_ID as part of the records - normally I hide theKey_ID).Now I can't access either the new records or the originals that I was tryingto copy (because, it would seem, they have identical primary keys). I alsocannot export the table via DTS 'unspecified error' and 'integrityviolation'.Or delete the offending records with a Query Anaylyser delete query.Basically the entire SQL Server database has been destroyed with a couple ofkeystrokes.Now, I've being developing database applications for over 20years and theone thing, maybe the only thing I expect from a database server is toprotect the integrity of my data. SQL Server does not, it would seem. Theserecords aren't just any random unimportant records either. They contain the'create views' that my entire application require to function and each oneapproaches the 8000 record limit and have take years to perfect and justchecking that the table is valid could take me days.

SQL Server 2014 :: Case Sensitive Collation Causing Cardinality Warning
May 18, 2015Over the weekend I decided to give it the ability to do a case sensitive character swap. Updating the code was pretty straight forward but when I was through, I noticed that I was getting Cardinality Estimate warnings that I wasn't getting before.
Anyway, here is some test data and two versions of the executed SQL (the base code is all dynamic and the two code versions are the result of toggling the @MatchCase parameter).

IIS Feature Requirement Warning On Installation SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition

I've tried to installed sql server 2005 developer edition on windows vista home premium but failed many times, almost giving up.
I've installed and turned on all the features of IIS 7.0 but it still failed and I tried to test IIS 7 by running the local host and received this error " HTTP Error 500.0 - Internal Server Error."
I even ran the windows update SP1 for Vista and MDAC 2.8 SP1
I really appreciate any comments and help.

SQL Server Express 2005 Warning Message In Event Log From SQL Browser Service
May 1, 2007Hello,
I have been trying to drill down to the cause for this event log message:
"The configuration of the AdminConnectionTCP protocol in the SQL instance
SQLEXPRESS is not valid."
It is reported from the SQLBrowser service as a warning when the service
starts. I have tried starting SQLBrowser.exe with -c flag, but the output reveals no
errors. I have seen this error on three computers. Two are running SQL 2000, 2005
and Express. One was only running Express, but still this message.
I then looked into the log for the SQL Express server itself. It shows this
message on startup:
"Dedicated administrator connection support was not started because it is
not available on this edition of SQL Server. This is an informational message
only. No user action is required."
Now, it appears to me that these two messages may relate to the same
"error" (or rather behaviour by design). So, can anyone confirm that the
warning in the event log from the SQL Browser service occurs becuase of that
the SQL Express edition doesn't allow any "AdminConnection", but the SQL
Browser service isn't aware of that SQL Express edition shouldn't support that, and
reports it as a warning (implying that we can't do much about this warning)?

SQL Server 2005 SP2 X64 Crashes...LazyWriter: Warning, No Free Buffers Found.
Jun 15, 2007While waiting for the fax of instructions to contact MS Support, I thought I would post here (tried several times and no fax...)
We get this message in the log file and then all hell breaks loose until it resets memory. The SQL Service continues working but nobody can connect for about 5 minutes and then is seems to reset itself. This has happened three times over the past two weeks. Only one time it did create the SQLDUMP files but all three occurences have practically the same entries.
We are running SQL Server 2005 x64 SP2 under Windows 2003 x64 SP1. We have 4GB RAM and SQL is configured to use 2GB of it. We have a large number of databases (about 400) on this one instance that experiences this problem. The server itself is not under a tremendous load. All of the databases were recently upgraded from SQL 2000 SP4 32 bit instance. The first occurence happened just days after the migration.

Installing IIS After Installing SQL Server 2005 And Visual Studio 2005 Help Requested!
Aug 31, 2007Hi all, Im new here so il start with a little introduction of myself, My name is Arjan im 19 years old from Holland, and i work for a company to compleet my ICT Education.
My situation:
My boss gave me a server with server 2003 standard and Sql server 2005 and visual studio 2005 installed already, he asked me if i could figure out how the 'new' reporting services work, Im pretty new to SQL and the reporting service but i figured out i had to install asp.net / frameworks and IIS.
So right now i wanna start the Reporting Services Configuration Manager and i get an error that says 'Invalid namespace' and when im trying to approach by using my browser i get 'page not found' so obviously their is Alot wrong. I asked my boss if i could not reinstall everything and do it in the correct order (IIS / ASP.net / Frameworks before installing SQL server 2k5 but that was not an option because we dont seem to have the cd's anymore.
The server is not connected to any network or the internet.
My Question:
Is their any way to fix this? and if yes could anyone tell me where to start

Apr 13, 2006I am trying to use a Transfer SQL Server Objects Task to copy a portions of tables from one db to a second db.
the connection is using Windows Authentication.
I am logged in as the Administrator
That user has sysadmin rights on the Sql Server in Question.
DropObjectsFirst = True
But when I execute the task I get the follwing warning
[Transfer SQL Server Objects Task] Warning: Stored procedure "{0}" already exists at destination.
What am I missing?

Empty Warning Box Appears With Only OK Button (2 Processes Started) When I Open Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio

I'm new to SQL server 2005. I installed SQL server 2005 and had some problems with the original install. I therefore uninstalled SQL server 2005. Rebooted and than installed SQL server 2005 again. Everything appears to have installed correctly except for the fact that when I start SQL Server Management Suite I get 2 copies running in the foreground. The last copy of the SQL Server Management Suite shows a dialogue box that contain a warning sign (yellow triangle) with no text but an OK button is in the dialogue box. When I press the OK button, this instance of SQL Server Management Suite kills itself. The first instance is now given window focus and it brings up the "Connect to Server" dialogue box. I can connect to my local server and run a script to add columns to the database. But everytime I bring up SQL Server Management Suite, I always end up with 2 copies running and I have to hit the OK button to get rid of the second copy. Can anyone help me get ride of this annoying problem?

Apr 3, 2007Ok guys, I am trying to install Sql server 2005 on Vista but I am still stuck with this warning message in the System Configuration Check during Sql server 2K5 installation :

Now, I know I need to install SP2 but how the hell I am going to install SP2 if Sql server 2005 doesn't install any of the components including Sql server Database services, Analysus services, Reporting integration services( only the workstation component is available for installation)?
Any work around for this issue?
P.S.: I didn't install VS.NET 2005 yet, can this solve the problem?

Sep 27, 2006We've devoted a resource to this today, but I have to believe it's something easy that we're overlooking. The scneario is that we have a production Web application that until last weekend had a SQL 2000 back end. This weekend we installed a new instance of SQL 2005 and everything works (we tested in a sandbox environment, but someone must not have load tested enough) and never saw these exceptions. So, after the upgrade we now receive 100's of thexe SQL excptions per day:A transport-level error has occurred when receiving results from the server. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host.)A transport-level error has occurred when receiving results from the server. Hi,
Recently I have installed Visual Studion Team System 2008 Development Edition in my sytem. Along with this, MS-SQL Server aand MSSQL Server Compact Edition is also installed. I need to install the SQL Server 2005 in my system.
In such a scenario, does the Compact Edition is required? Can I uninstall them and install Sql Server 2005 only? If I uninstall anything, would it cause any problems for the .Net programs to work?
