ISP - Create Text Dump

Mar 22, 2007

I'm using an ISP with SQL Server, the Database Publishing Wizard worked great to create a text.sql file which recreated the exact replica of the local db on the ISP's SQL Server.
But, is there a code library for this somewhere so I can run this automatically on the the server and post the text.sql file off as a local backup?

I want to compare the schemas of 2 different databases, I heard that there was a way to dump the contents of a database (tables, stored procedures, objects, etc) to a text file in SQL to use for an easy compare. Anyone know the process in which to do this? Any help is greatly appreciated.

How To Dump Data To .sql Text File?

Mar 7, 2008

Hi, I just started using SQL Server 2005 and I'm trying to find out how to do a sql dump on a table, but this is proving more challenging then it should be.

I usually use mysql with a program called navicat, and all you do is right click on the table and select dump... Inserting the data back in is just as simple. I have also used sql server 2000 awhile back and I know there was a dumping utility for it.

Can someone point me in the right direction on how to dump data to a .sql file and reinsert that data? Thanks!

Export/data Dump To Flat File Is Too Slow

Mar 10, 2006

I am trying to export a table with ~ 10 Million rows to a flat file and it is taking for ever with SQL2005 export functionality. I have tried creating an SSIS package with a flat-file destination and the results are the same. In each case it does the operation in chunks of about 9900+ rows, and each chunk takes ~1-2 minutes which sounds unreasonable.

I tried bcp, and it fails after a few thousand rows. I tried moving the data to SQL2000 first then to flat file from SQL2K, but the move from SQL2005->SQL2000 was going at the same rate as above.

So, the bottleneck seems to be data going out of SQL2005 no matter what the destination is. I'm wondering if there is some setting that Iam missing that would make this run in a reasonable amount of time?

SQL Server Admin 2014 :: Create Format File For BCP

Nov 10, 2014

We have one table where we store all documents in one of the column called "Doc" with varbinary(max) data type.

We want to download those documents from sql table to windows explorer and i wrote BCP in sql 2005. And things were fine.

The format file I used there looks like this,

9.0
1
1 SQLBINARY 0 0 "" 1 Doc ""

Now we are in 2014 and when I try the same code with same format file, it hangs in the middle. So I changed the file to 12.0 instead of 9.0 but still not working.

When I try and execute this in my app I get the following - Specified owner

you do not have permission to use it.

If I use the above Select statement with an OLEDB connection it works.

How To Create Linked Server To Access 2007 Accdb File?

Feb 20, 2008

How does one create a linked server to an Access 2007 (accdb) file? I am aware that to create one to a mdb file, the code would be -EXEC sp_addlinkedserver
@server = 'SEATTLE Mktg',
@provider = 'Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0',
@srvproduct = 'OLE DB Provider for Jet',
@datasrc = 'C:MSOfficeAccessSamplesNorthwind.mdb'
GO
What is the corresponding code for Access 2007 accdb files?
