Xp_sendmail Problem - Body Message Breaking Onto New Line..

Sep 13, 2005

Created a SP that uses system function XP_SENDMAIL. I want
to be able to send a HYPERLINK in the email. The
HYPERLINK is created dynamically and generally long in length (exceeds
default width of 80 characters) and when rendered in the email is split
across 2 lines. The problem is that when you click on the link it
disregards the part of the link that has been split onto the line
below.

Does anyone know a solution to this - how to extend the width of the
email to wider that 80 characters so that the link is not split over 2
lines? I know that you can use the @width parameter when placing the
message in an attatchment, however I want the link to be placed in the
body of the email and not in an attachment.

Any help is much appreciated..

Message Type And Message Body..............

Nov 17, 2006

Hello,

I am having trouble specifying a message body that is valid. I mean for the client to send. If I leave it as null then everything is ok but if I create a memorystream and add a line of text it reports back it did not pass validation. I do not understand this and am not sure what to do. I need to send a message based on a code and text but do not know the format of the body that is allowed. The code I am refering to comes out of HelloWord_CLR because that is what I am formating my sample after. I call it the same way it calls the return message done in ServiceProc. I need to know the message format including body since this does not seem to work. A sample of the call is bellow.

// Create an empty request message

string Msg = "Hello";

MemoryStream body = new MemoryStream(Encoding.ASCII.GetBytes(Msg));

Message request = new Message("Request", body);

Thanks,

Scott Allison...

Mail Message Body With Data From Two Tables

Oct 27, 2013

I need to set a trigger so that an email is generated when a row is inserted into the ABC_DB_OnlineFormsConfirm table. The message will include data not only from that table, but from a related table called ABC_DB_OnlineForms. The common field between the two is FormID. This is related to an online account application process where the user has the option of completing it in one session, or saving it and coming back at a later time. Once the user has completed the first screen and clicks continue, a record is written to ABC_DB_OnlineForms. At the very end, when he clicks “Save and Complete”, a row is written to the ABC_DB_OnlineForms table. I would like the body of the email to include three separate lines, as follows. The first two pieces of data come from the OnlineForms table and the third from OnlineFormsConfirm. The field names are userid, IRSBackup and ConfirmationCode.

UserID:
Subject to IRS Backup Withholding?:
Confirmation Code:

What I have below results in an email body that contains the confirmation code all by itself. If I switch @body=@MessageBody to @body=@UserID or @body=@Backup, it will report the correct single piece of data, but I have no idea how to get all three pieces at once as separate lines including the leading descriptor (UserID:, Confirmation Code, etc.).

CREATE TRIGGER SendEmail
ON [ABC].[dbo].[ABC_DB_OnlineFormsConfirm]
AFTER INSERT
AS
Begin
Declare @MessageBody varchar(100)

How To Incorporate A Table Field Into The Email Message Body Nto As An Attachment?

Oct 5, 2005

Hello everyone,

Please i need your help...

I dont know how to place the field 'strTitle and datBorrowed " in my email? Not as an attachment though....Just write it in the mail as part of message body...

I use this SQL select statement to retrieve the strTitle and datBorrowed fields

strSQL += @"Select replace(strtitle,'[Original Book] - ',''), datBorrowed from tblBooks where convert(varchar(10),datBorrowed,101) = convert(varchar(10),(getdate() - 1),101) ORDER BY strTitle asc";

Now, I have the following code to write the email

static void SendTest()
{

int iEmailLanguage = 0;
MailMessage objMail;
objMail = new MailMessage();
objMail.From = MAIL_FROM;
objMail.To =MAIL_TO;
objMail.Subject = "Books Borrowed Yesterday";
objMail.Body = Dict.GetVal(iEmailLanguage, "EMAIL_MESSAGE");
objMail.Attachments.Add(new MailAttachment(strAttachment));
SmtpMail.SmtpServer = SSMTP_SERVER;
SmtpMail.Send(objMail);
}

And the body of the email is this......

Dict.AddVal(0, "EMAIL_MESSAGE", "*** This e-mail is automatically generated. ***" +
"*** PLEASE DO NOT REPLY TO THIS E-MAIL. ***" +
"" +
"Books Borrowed Yesterday are:" +

"" +
"" +
"Thank you," +
"" +
"eLibrarian" +
"" +
"================================================== ===============" +
"" +
"This e-mail is automatically generated by the Library system." +
"Please do not reply.");

i need to put or wedge the data i got from the SQL Statement into this or after the line "Books Borrowed Yesterday are:" +

So how should i do this?

SQLServer2000 Xp_sendmail Message Larger Than 8000 Chars

Sep 3, 2007

Books Online gives a way to send a message larger than the VARCHAR max of 8000 chars, but the @query argument to xp_sendmail is a simple text string and my data is much more complex, and formatted. Also BOL shows an example using a temporary text file, but it is not clear precisely how you write your insert statements. I tried the following, which writes out all the data and sends it ok except, after each row, there is about a page of blank spaces. What is wrong with my syntax?

SET LANGUAGE British
GO
DECLARE @msgstr VARCHAR(80)
DECLARE @cmd VARCHAR(80)
DECLARE @PMID INT
DECLARE @forename VARCHAR(30)
CREATE TABLE ##texttab (c1 text)
SET @msgstr = 'THE FOLLOWING QUOTES ARE CURRENTLY MARKED AS PENDING:'
INSERT ##texttab SELECT @msgstr
DECLARE C2 CURSOR FOR SELECT ProjMgrID FROM surdba.SVY_QUOTES WHERE StatusID=6
OPEN C2
FETCH NEXT FROM C2 INTO @PMID
WHILE @@FETCH_STATUS = 0
BEGIN
IF @PMID > 1000
SELECT @forename = ISNULL(Forename,' ') FROM surdba.SVY_PERSONNEL_GENERAL WHERE EmployeeID = @PMID
ELSE
SET @forename = ' '
INSERT ##texttab values (RTRIM(@forename))
FETCH NEXT FROM C2 INTO @PMID
END
CLOSE C2
DEALLOCATE C2
INSERT ##texttab values ( ' - This information is autogenerated from the Survey database.')
SET @cmd = 'SELECT c1 FROM ##texttab'
EXEC master.dbo.xp_sendmail @recipients = 'Robin Pearce',
@subject = 'ALL PENDING QUOTES',
@query = @cmd,
@no_header = 'TRUE'
DROP TABLE ##texttab
GO

Would appreciate any help on this one, I do not have time to learn HTML,
thanks

Breaking The 8kb Barrier On UDT

Mar 15, 2006

Is it possible by any kind of workaround to break the 8kb limit on user-defines datatypes?

My datatype can contain an arbitrary number of double-precision points meaning that I in best case only can store 512 points (2 x 8 x 512). there's a few extra bytes used for something else, but this is roughly the maximum, which is far from what I in many cases need. I serialize the object myself to ensure that I only store what I really need.

How Can I Remove The Line Feed/carriage Return In The Last Line Of The Exported Text File ?

Feb 27, 2007

Hi,
for some AP issue, the file I upload must be without the line feed/carriage return in the last line.
for example:

original fixed-length file (exported from SSIS)
line NO DATA
1 AA123456 50 60
2 BB123456 30 40
3 CC123456 80 90
4 <-- with line feed/carriage return in the last line

The file format that AP request. The file only has 3 records, so it should end in the third line.
line NO DATA
1 AA123456 50 60
2 BB123456 30 40
3 CC123456 80 90

Should I use script component to do it ? I am new for VB . Anyone would help me ?

Thank you all.

Storing And Retrieving Line Breaks/newlines From Multi-line Textbox (C#)

Aug 31, 2007

I hope I'm posting this in the correct forum (forgive me if I'm not) since I'm not sure if this is an issue with inserting an item into a db or the processing of what I get out of it.  I wrote a basic commenting system in which someone my post a comment about something written on the site.  I wanted to keep it very simple, but I at least want the ability for a user to have newlines in their comment without having to hardcode a <br /> or something like that.  Is there a way for me to detect a newline if someone, for example, is going to their next paragraph?
Let me know if you need a better explanation.
Thanks in advance!

Char(10) Breaking Query

Aug 6, 2004

I have been working on a pretty ugly stored procedure recently, while debugging I added a char(10) to the end of each line of the SQL query so I could copy it to query analyzer(QA) and debug the SQL syntax output from of the stored procedure.

It had no effect on the stored procedure working, but when I copied the query to QA it got the error below, so I removed them all and added them in one line at a time to find the problem.

--Server: Msg 170, Level 15, State 1, Line 3
--Line 3: Incorrect syntax near ','.

Below are the 2 querys, the only difference is the Char(10) between Amt6 and Amt7!

http://www.rakbiz.com/download/broken.txt
http://www.rakbiz.com/download/working.txt

I also tried char(13) with same results.

any ideas why this is happening or how to add line breaks for readability without this problem?

Thanks for your help!

The FIRST area it would break after a line that had wrapped text to the line below. Even though there was plenty of room to fit it, and the entire rest of the group on the page.

The second area I honestly have NO idea why it breaks.

Displaying A Trend Line (in Line Chart) In SSRS

We have a line graph which plots the actual data points (x,y), everything is working fine with this graph. Now we need to add a trend line to this existing graph after going thro. the articles we came to know that there is no direct option in SSRS to draw a trend line. So we need to calculate the trend values ourselves which we need to plot as atrend line. This trend line is similar to the trend line which comes in Excel chart, do anyone know how to calculate the trend values from the actual data points. We got through several formulas, but were not clear, have anyone tried out exactly the same, if so please help us out by providing an example to calculate the trend values.

Breaking Down A Number Column From A Query?

Sep 18, 2007

Im okay with simple queries but as Im no expert and have failed to find perhaps the correct wording to describe this method, if at all possible to do, so I have come to ask here.

What I would like to do is take a column from a query and then break down that column into separate results.

So the full query results:
36,18/09/2007 10:00:00,NULL,000102000304,NULL

The column I would like to brake down is (Unique Reference Number):
000102000304

And I would like to break it down to get the last 2 parts (0003 and 04):
0001 | 02 | 0003 | 04

Is this possible to do?
If so where should I be looking or what should I be looking at?

Many Thanks

Breaking Down Status Based On Hierarchy?

Jan 23, 2012

I want to show a third-level overview of how many to-do items are in various statuses (pending declined and completed) for the third level individuals.

In this example there's 2 regional leaders (level3), each with local leaders (level2) and individual team members (level1)

Status "1" is a new or pending to-do item
Status "2" is a declined item
Status "3" is a completed item

Here's what I want the output to look like (I may need to add columns for the final report but it should look as follows):

LEVEL3 | Status 1 | Status 1 | Status 2 | Status 3 |
LEADER | TOTAL | 2012 | TOTAL | TOTAL |
-------|----------|----------|----------|----------|
paul | 3 | 1 | 1 | 0 |
roger | 1 | 1 | 1 | 0 |

Here's some sample data similar to my live DB:

CREATE TABLE #items (id int, datestamp datetime, userid int, status int)
INSERT INTO #items (id,datestamp,userid,status) VALUES (1,'12/26/2011',1,1)
INSERT INTO #items (id,datestamp,userid,status) VALUES (2,'12/26/2011',2,1)
INSERT INTO #items (id,datestamp,userid,status) VALUES (3,'1/2/2012',4,1)
INSERT INTO #items (id,datestamp,userid,status) VALUES (4,'1/3/2012',1,2)

[Code] ....

I have a view called hierarchy that shows me the hierarchy for each level 1 user. Here's the source for the view:

SELECT
a.id 'level1',
b.id 'level2',
c.id 'level3'
FROM #users a
INNER JOIN #users b ON a.reportsto = b.id
INNER JOIN #users c ON b.reportsto = c.id

I've run into table/view limits when using a straight query and timeouts when trying to create a cursor that looks through all level3 users and populates a temporary table with an INSERT and multiple UPDATE statements to get the individual counts for each column for each user.

(Just a note on the actual database in case it's relevant: It has about 1000 LEVEL1 users, 50 Level2, and 15 Level 3 users. It will generate about 1400 to-do items per week.)
