Mouse And Keyboard No Longer Work
Dec 5, 2015I just went from Windows 7 to 10 and now my USB keyboard and mouse are unresponsive.

View 5 RepliesI have a Dell XPS 17 laptop. Worked great under Windows 7. Tried Windows 10 but was unable to get the wireless LAN driver to work, so I went back to Win 7 via the official "Go Back to Windows 7" option in Windows 10 - now the keyboard and mouse won't respond after start up. They work fine in the bios, but are completely unresponsive on the login screen - even when I boot in safe mode. No USB ports work, so I can't try another keyboard/mouse. Was going to reinstall but I'll lose the existing data. Now I'm going to have to pull the drive and copy over manually, then reinstall. Last thing I was going to try was disabling EVERYTHING in the BIOS just in case there was some kind of weird IRQ conflict, etc.
View 1 Repliesturned my computer on yesterday and it loaded up fine, apart from there was no cursor and my keyboard wouldn't work. I have a R.A.T. 5 mouse and a Coolermaster QuickFire keyboard. I know that they're on and working because their LED's are on. I decided to plug in my old ps2 keyboard and restart my PC to enter BIOS. I checked and it recognises that the keyboard and the mouse are connected into the USB hub and says they're working. Another thing, even my ps2 keyboard doesn't work when my computer gets past the start screen!
View 1 RepliesI recently tried windows 10... didnt like it. Did the recall back to windows 7 option. Let it do its thing. Came back and my computer was trying to rapair itself... said could not reboot windows is checking for a solution.. I let it go.. it said no solution found. And just turned off..So I restarted spammed f8. Tried to start in safemode.
Got to password screen and mouse and keyboard won't work...So I restart, spam f8 again. I select repair windows this time, cancel the repair process then clicm.advanced options. Try to look at restore points... and it says none exist... that is bs. I did restore points twice a week. when. I try to start normally it loads her goes to a blue screen with tons of writing and letters and errorrs but no time to read any...
I'm guessing it doesn't recognize the 10 drvers. And without the keyboard I can't log in because I have a password. Keyboard does work in bios though but not in safe mode.I really don't want reinstall and lose all my data
View 1 RepliesMy mouse and keyboard (both are USB) don't work, but they are lit up. I tried replugging them, but that doesn't work. I tried using F8, but that doesn't work. I also don't have a PS/2 port, as I am running BootCamp on a Mac. I even tried using the Apple Keyboard.
Before this problem, I had issues with BAD_POOL_HEADER (BSoD) on Windows 10 after updating drivers. Checking if I had any system restores, it didn't have any that I made before the update. So, I reset my computer, with all files intact. Then my problem arises; keyboard and mouse do not work, and I'm pretty much stuck on the login screen.
i just formatted my pc. I got the following screen; URL... My mouse and keyboard are not working eventhough there is a light burning in my mouse
View 1 RepliesI'm stick on the below screen. My keyboard and mouse will not respond. I don't get a login prompt. The time is correct and the little icon in the bottom right indicates if my Ethernet cable is connected.
I had Window 7. I used the microsoft provided upgrade to install windows 10. The process seemed to have completed successfully. I was able to get a login prompt once and successfully logged in. I opted to not send any information to microsoft at the initial propts. I got to my desktop, everything seemed to be working ok. I thought there were a few startup apps I didn't need in my tray. So I turned off auto startup on login for OneDrive, Skype, and my logitech camera. I restarted and now I get stuck at this screen.
The time updates correctly over time, its not frozen. I can plugin/unplug the Ethernet cable and the little icon in the bottom right will change to indicate if it has internet. I can press the power button on my computer and it correctly interprets that as a shutdown command and it gracefully shuts down.
My mouse/keyboard wont work. They used to work fine. I am able to use the mouse/keyboard in my BIOS with out a problem. However the moment the system starts to load, the lights on my keyboard and mouse go out and they become unresponsive. I tried various combinations of pluging the USB keyboard/mouse into different ports. I tried using different mouses and keyboards. I tried disabling legacy USB support in the BIOS. Nothing works.
I tried getting into safe mode but can't. Most solutions to get into safe mode require your system to already be working correctly. Holding F8 or F8+Shift don't work.
I'm currently installing windows 10 on my lap top so I can try to create a restore disk. Which should then allow me to go into safe mode and try to repair what ever has gone wrong.
My computer is sporting an i7 with 16 gigs of memory. I use a 128gb SSD for my system and have 3 other hard drives for various data storage. No other OS installed. The computer has been functioning fine for the last two years.
I recently got rid of a cabled keyboard in favor of a smaller bluetooth keyboard (MS Mobile 6000). Everything is great except that now, I have a hard time putting my PC to sleep. In fact, it tends to wake up after 30 seconds or so. I'm pretty sure this is due to the BT keyboard.
View 3 RepliesI use left handed mouse, and swapping left / buttons works OK. I also set the wheel button to be "double click". But the wheel button brings up the context menu instead of double click. If I change to right hand mouse, the wheel button gives double click as expected. how to make the wheel button give double click for left hand mouse?
View 5 RepliesOkay, so I take blame for accidentally messing up my Windows 10. My NVIDIA graphics card wasn't working and wasn't letting me install my drivers. Well that aside, now that I installed older Drivers Windows 10 registers something horribly wrong. It wants to do a system repair. Okay, good, fine with me. But then when it gets to the page for me to select a keyboard layout, I have no mouse and my keyboard doesn't work either.
Anytime I press a button on them their backlights turn on, but then turn back off when I don't do anything with them.
I can't afford to get a new OS, I have no DVD Drive so I definitely can't do anything that requires a disk. What do I do?
In the past two days, once I've logged into Windows 10 (successfully with normally-functioning keyboard) I can no longer type anything. The letter keys just produce a click through the speakers. Even stranger, if I hold down a letter key for two clicks then release, it prints the letter. I've tried two different (wireless) keyboards and they both become disabled in the same way. Some of the function keys perform normally. It's just impossible to type. I've never encountered this problem before, and I've been using Windows 10 since the free upgrade earlier this year. I've run a full Windows Defender Scan and also a Malwarebytes Scan.
View 2 RepliesI upgraded about a month ago. My laptop locked me out entirely shortly after the upgrade so I had to take it to be wiped clean. When I got it back everything was in working order with Windows 10 except the top row of keys that control volume, brightness and the ability to pause, rewind and skip songs now solely does the standard system commands of f1-f10 *caret browsing on/of, find in page, etc* Im not sure if they worked the first time I tried to upgrade because I couldn't even log on to my computer after I upgraded the first time so I reformatted.
View 3 RepliesI have a HP 15-E092 Laptop. I upgraded the laptop to windows 10 a few months ago and the touch pad and buttons worked fine.
Today I was using the mouse pad perfectly fine. I then went to sleep for abit and when I came back to the laptop, the Mouse pad and left and right click buttons no longer worked. I have checked in device manager and can no longer see the entry for the synaptics pad that was there before.
How can I get this working again, as I prefer to use the pad as I use the laptop alot on the move.
I updated my laptop (No touch screen) from win 7 to win 10 ....... my mouse and keyboard is not working
View 1 RepliesI have installed windows 10 and it was working great and then I turned on my pc and when it gets to the screen after the blue windows logo where one would normally login my keyboard and mouse will not work. I've tried them on every USB port I have and nothing works.
View 4 RepliesWindows finally bullied me into upgrading to Win10 from Win7 yesterday. Now some things that used to be clickable aren't. Like this little window, for example.... nothing on it responds to the mouseovers OR clicks.
View 9 RepliesWhenever my laptop goes to sleep, the only way to wake it up is through the laptop's keyboard (pressing any key on the keyboard). But when I press the USB keyboard or the USB mouse, it doesn't wake up.I use my laptop mostly as a "desktop": I connect it through an HDMI cable to a larger 24" monitor, and the laptop is lying closed in the corner. It is just annoying to open the laptop and press the keyboard.. not a big deal, but if it's possible to change that it will be good !
View 6 RepliesSo my computer started running a bit slower then it should be, at the point where my computer to open would take half a min, so i did fresh install. So i left installation overnight, i wake up in the morning and it say "Hi there" installation menu where you choose Country, language, keyboard layout and timezone, but it's totally froze, i can not see mouse cursor or use my keyboard, if my monitor goes to sleep i can't turn it on back. I did read that it's problem with drivers not installed. I've tried restarting pc few times. Is it true that problem is with drivers not installed correctly or at all?
View 1 RepliesI recently re-installed Windows 10 on my Asus X205TA notebook using the ISO on a USB stick. It installed without a problem, but when I boot the computer now (first boot after installation), the OS does not recognise the keyboard and the mouse, so I cannot enter the required data to proceed to the next screen..
Seems like the required drivers are missing, and I am thinking a re-install may be necessary, but how to get the keyboard and mouse drivers included (inserted?) in the installation process?
My PC was working fine until today. Now when I boot up the lights on my razor keyboard illuminate but when it gets past the bios the lights turn off.
When the login screen for w10 comes up I can't login because both the keyboard and mouse are not responding.
They work fine in the bios. I am using a custom built PC (a88x-gamer MOBO) and a corsair m65 mouse with a razer black window 2015 keyboard and running Windows 10.
After I installed Windows 10 from windows 7 I couldn't use my mouse and keyboard it works when I boot up BIOS Utility but when im on windows 10 it does not work. I tried switching usb ports and that didn't work either.
View 9 RepliesYesterday I downloaded and had a fresh installation of windows 10 (means I have no backup of my previous windows 7). Now since installation, whenever my PC goes to sleep I fail to wake it up by pressing any key on the keyboard or touchpad.
I've tried to find the power management in keyboard settings from the device manager but I failed to find any option there.
Device: HP Probook 450 G2
Screenshot of Keyboard Properties:
I've had a series of problems with Windows 10. Latest (last couple of weeks) Thunderbird and all browers have been gradually getting worse and worse. I decided to restore the system this morning but I get stopped every time by a screen where I am to select a keyboard to use. This is where both the mouse and keyboard don't work.
View 4 RepliesI have successfully activated hibernate mode (S4), yet whenever the PC is hibernated a shake of the mouse or the press of any key on the keyboard just wakes and turns on the PC. Needless to say I do not want this to happen. Hibernate (S4) works as confirmed by the fact that when it's waken up, the PC goes through the POST phase of the boot before loading W10. In addition a powercfg /a gives the following output
Code:
C:WINDOWSsystem32>powercfg /aThe following sleep states are available on this system: Standby (S3) Hibernate Hybrid Sleep Fast Startup
Sleep (S3) works too. Although it seems to have the same effects on the hardware (turns off the CPU fan), the waking up it's much quicker, without POST. In addition, here's the log from Windows event viewer:
Code:

In the UEFI BIOS all the ACPI settings are in order, as shown in this photo. Bios is updated to the latest version.
View image: WP 20151201 11 43 34 ProEnabling/Disabling Fast-boot and/or fast start-up changes nothingI tried also a different USB wireless mouse, but no changes. With a PS/2 mouse the PC does not wake up from hibernation.Switching the Logitech Unifying receiver between USB 2 and 3 makes no difference. The same mouse and keyboard do not turn on the PC after a complete shut down.
My mouse and keyboard don't work. I just want to play counter strike...
