AC Power Adapter And Wattage Cannot Be Determined
Nov 30, 2015
Immediately after downloading and installing Windows 10 on to my Dell XPS 15 laptop, I began seeing an error message on a black screen upon bootup: "AC Power Adapter and wattage can not be determined. Battery may not charge."I am using the power adaptor that came with the laptop: Model DA130 PE1-00. From what I can determine, this is the requisite 130 W device. The laptop originally was installed with Windows 7 and that is what it has been using until this Windows 10 install.
When I rest my cursor over the battery indicator icon on the taskpane at bottom of screen, I see this message: "89% available. Plugged in, not charging." Yesterday, it read 92% charged.Additionally, since the Windows 10 download, the fan has been running constantly. (I imagine this is unrelated to the adaptor message. Purchased in fall 2011, the laptop, although a powerful one and seeming to run well, is no longer under warrantee.

While trying to plug in a VGA cable, I accidentally turned off my power strip, which cut the power to my computer. When I turned it and my computer back on, I was unable to connect to the internet via Ethernet cable.
I went to device manager and under network adapter, it said "This device cannot start, code 10." I've tried reinstalling it, both automatically and manually from a CD and USB. I've done almost everything I can think of to fix this. I scanned and fix any errors on my hard disk, I've reinstalled all my USB drivers, I've power-cycled my router, I've tried different Ethernet cords, and I've tried to delete any corrupted files in my registry, but that must either not be a thing on Windows 10, or I am doing something wrong.
OS: Windows 10
Processor: Intel i7
Motherboard: Asus

I recently upgraded Windows 7 to Windows 10. When I power down the system from the menu, my computer does not completely turn off. The procedure I use is described below:
Click Windows_Start_button > Power > Shutdown
The system closes applications and appears to initiate a shutdown procedure. Everything appears to be shut off, but my mouse is still lit up. I do notice that the fan stops and everything else appears to be completely shut down. When I was running Windows 7 before my upgrade, my system completely powered down.
I have a dual boot system with Linux, and when I power down from Linux, the shutdown is complete, so I don't think I accidentally did anything to the hardware or BIOS.

My Dell laptop which is windows 10 only has a chronic problem with the adapter constantly needing to be reset. Searching for similar problems led me to the possibility of a USB adapter.

I just upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 but unfortunately my Netgear adapter is not compatible with Windows 10. It has Windows 10 support available via online driver updates but I am not sure on how to install them since I do not have internet on my computer and the easiest route, albeit the more expensive option, would be to simply buy a network adapter that supports Windows 10 and can be installed from the driver disk that comes with it. I was curious as to what Windows 10 network adapter is best and for a reasonable price.

I had this issue on Windows 8.1, but never resolved it. It's not a massive issue, but when I boot up these adapters slow down the network connecting to the internet for around 30 seconds. I only use an Ethernet connection so, do not need these adapters.
I've tried disabling them and uninstalling them, but they always reappear!

... in Control Panel cannot turn it on... Troubleshooter says "Wireless capacity is turned off".
WLAN Auto Config Service IS running.
The web sites that say to remove a Registry Key results in the Key NOT found and then trying to run its' companion command line utility results in not found.
Before updating to Windows 10, the Wi-Fi worked properly.
Latest Windows Driver IS installed. How to get my Laptop Running so that I can use it Wirelessly instead of having to connect via Category 5 land line cable to the router.

Whats going on with my tablet (WinBook). I've installed W10 few weeks ago since then never had any problems with it, but today I noticed I cannot connect to wifi. it's gone from Network settings, if I open "connection" icon on task bar I only see Airplane mode..Network adapter from Device manager is also gone. What to do now...
I did try this - connect to internet via Bluetooth from Lumia phone and with Intel Driver Update Utility scanned tablet, only thing it found is update for Graphics driver.. what else can I do?

I got my new Wi-Fi adapter today (TL-WDN4200) and in order to access its 5Ghz connecting capabilities, you have to download the updated drivers off the TP-Link website. I did just that. However when I go to device manager, right click my WiFi adapter and update the drivers. This error message appears when I click on the driver file: [URL] ...
I have windows 10 64 bit. Will that be the problem? since TP-Link has not released any official drivers for Windows 10 yet? Will I need to revert back to Windows 8.1 to access the 5Ghz connection?

This error is why i could never run Windows 8.1 on my machine and it seems to of transferred over to windows 10 too. My PC boots fine everything's working but usually if i am doing something like watching a YouTube video or on my PS4 playing online my internet will cut off and my wireless with have the Square box with a red cross, if i unplug my adapter and plug it back in it comes back on. But its a bit frustrating when I'm playing a multiplayer game on my PC or chatting on Skype for my adapter to crash. I've had this issue with my old netgear wireless adapter and this one.
It happens around 2-5 times an hour, i looked it up and I've tried many fixes some of which include:
Setting power settings to Max Performance.
Setting the Adapter to not turn off to save power
Reinstalling drivers
Turning off Bluetooth
I have looked in the Windows Event Log and i seem to get 2 events every time this occurs and they say:
WLAN Extensibility Module has stopped.
Module Path: C:WINDOWSSystem32cmihvsrv64.dll
and
The network interface "ASUS USB-AC53 802.11ac Wireless USB Adapter" has begun resetting. There will be a momentary disruption in network connectivity while the hardware resets.
Reason: The network driver requested that it be reset.
This network interface has reset 15 time(s) since it was last initialized.
I like Windows 10 but i can't use it if my internet keeps cutting out randomly.

I have been connecting my PC to my router via a Ethernet cable and have had no issues but I want to move the PC to another room and run it off a wireless adapter. I tried a TP-Link USB adapter but it didn't work so I switched it for a Netgear one. That doesn't work either which makes me think there is something not right with my PC. I have installed and uninstalled multiple times, tired different USB ports but the Wireless Adapter doesn't seem to get an IP address and there are no Wireless settings in the control panel. But there are no Wireless setting and no connectivity to the Adapter.

I have a mac 2013(early) running win10 (obviously). I have my TV with a auxiliary port. I want to know if it is possible to use some software to turn my laptop into an adapter between my Bluetooth headphones and the TV. I have heard that if the volume is too loud from the TV going into a auxiliary port, it could fry something. I feel like this is something that could be doable, and software exists. But I cannot find any, and I really want to use my Bluetooth headphones so no one can hear my TV when playing games and such.

I just bought an ASUS PCE-N53 PCI-E adapter for my PC that I built several months ago. Previously, I was just using ethernet. Put the card in my PCI-E 1 slot, and installed the drivers from the installation disc, but nothing shows up in Device Manager and I have no wireless option in my Network Connections settings. why it's not showing up, minus it being dead out of the box? I can't try it in my PCI-E 2 slot because my graphics card is in the way.

Ever since the 1511 update last week, my SP3 display adapter crashes all the time. For example, if I'm using Windows Live Movie Maker, it will crash after only a few seconds of playback, then I have to close the app and reopen it, so I can get another 30 seconds of work done if I am lucky. If I'm using Blender or Repetier Host, it does better - lasts minutes instead of seconds, and doesn't always crash in those apps, but it does occasionally.
When I try to print to my 3D printer, it crashes sometimes, wasting plastic. I can get around that by doing the print from SD, but sometimes when it is something small, it's just easier to print from the host. Having increased problems (I used to get it occasionally, but not often) since updating to Win10 version 1511 last week?

This is all after upgrading from Windows 7 three days ago.
After two days of enjoying Windows 10, my internet just started going out. The pc would freeze for a sec and then id get a red x in the bottom and my wifi would be gone. In device manager, it always shows my wifi network adapter operation was unsuccessful. I switched to a different adapter and installed the latest drivers, which say are compatible with windows 10, and the same issue still happens. I also tried some CMD command I found online related to old VPNs and that didn't work.
Usually it only fixes if i unplug and replug the adapter. Disabling and enabling doesn't work. I repaired winsock and renewed tcp/ icp and that didn't work.. What can I do? I cant go 20 minutes without losing internet.

My computer just won't sleep for longer than 15 minutes, I've disabled wake-timer in the advanced power options. I also disabled my keyboard, mouse, network, adapter, and everything else in my device manager that could possibly be waking my computer up without me wanting to do so. I also checked my cmd logs for devices armed to turn my PC on.Checked the Event Viewer aswell but in the log it says whatever keeps turning my PC on is 'Unknown'.

Not sure what I'm doing wrong but when I look at the MWDA reviews, everyone's surface is picking up the full screen.
My sp4 though, doesn't. there is a black screen around the screen when projected to the TV. I've tried it on my tv (old *** tv) and a newer Samsung TV.
The only way I got it to pick up the entire screen on the Samsung was by adjusting the picture size and stretching it. But it would never fit exact. Piece of the screen would be cut off on the top, bottom and sides.
It's annoying. I've tried changing the settings in the MWDA app but that only makes things smaller.

Ok so got a new usb WiFi adapter. I installed the driver first which I downloaded on my phone then transferred to my pc via usb cable. Have tried reinstalling multiple times, still won't work. I'm guessing the problem is there's no win 10 drivers for it. NOTE: I did have a old usb adapter working with no driver before but not even that's working even with drivers uninstalled. The new adapter shows up in device manager with a problem indicated with a code 10.But not in network devices.
