Accounts :: Logging Into Pro Using Office 365 Credentials
Nov 5, 2015
Ok, so i've just upgraded from Windows 10 Home to the Pro edition.
The user account on the PC is currently linked to my MS account. However, this particular PC is for my two part-time workers who I want to be able to login using their 365 credentials.

Suppose I install Win10 but skip the stage that says logging into a microsoft account.I'd like to know what that option does. Does it open the Edge browser and go to www.bing.com and log in there?Does it log into multiple websites? If so, which? Does it log any particular programs in? Suppose I skip that stage, then how would I manually do what that stage would do automatically?

I have noticed today that the Mail app in Windows 10 does not sync my Office 365 or Outlook.com accounts, nor does it provide any notifications. I have the accounts set to download messages as they come in. I can only manually sync them. Additionally, the Mail app is not listed as one of the options to run as a background app.

I would like to use some of the features that require you to log in with a Microsoft account rather than my own local administrator account. But when I did that, it totally changed my settings for my local account including desktop, etc. So I deleted the Microsoft account. how to keep my local account settings when signing in with a Microsoft account.

I've been experimenting with setting up an old PC (running 10) as a NAS, and I've created a few shared drives with specific ones allowing access to specific users. Most of the shared drives will accept my login info, which is the exact same on my desktop (the client PC). This allows me to basically just access every share without mapping them when on VPN. However, one of my shared drives is not shared to that same username. When I try to map it with the different credentials, it fails because the other shares are mapped with my other credentials, and it's not letting me map one shared drive with different credentials then all the others?

once they joined domain with Windows 10 and accessing Domain joined servers or resources - it constantly prompts for credentials to open (shared drives or folders) - I have my Windows 8.1 desktop using the same credentials and accessing the same resources with no issues. Just the preview on my laptop is experiencing this, is there a new security setting in 10 that handles domain credentials that's causing this?

Having problems with Windows 10 asking for credential verification multiple times? I can get this multiple times a day. I also tried deleting all the credentials related to my account & it appeared to work temporarily & then went back to having credential problems again.. I believe it's something server side because I can verify & then sometimes immediately you are asked to verify again or few minutes/hours later it asks again.
When I look at my account online, sometimes it will show multiple "Surface" computers with the same S/N or with no S/N (Now this doesn't always happen)
I also notice with my email accounts (While using the native Win10 email app) it will state my account is out of date & it will no longer send/receive emails. This happens on 2 MS accounts & 1 gmail account. I have actually reinstalled Win10 & the problem has only gotten worse. Before it used to only happen maybe once every few days.
When Win10 needs verification again, sometimes the store apps will won't open until you verify again. All regular desktop apps continue to work just fine during this process. Also, updates to Win10 & the store apps may stop updating if it's not verified once again.

Another strange issue with Windows 10, one I thought I had resolved but the problem appears to have come back.
Both accounts on my Surface Pro 3 are now being prompted each login to "Click here to enter most recent credentials", which takes you to accounts and then verifys the accounts identify. It's everytime and it seems to knock everything off. Cortana needs to be setup again and I don't think calendar and outlook work until I've verified the account.
As mentioned I found a resolution which resolved the problem, but it re-appeared again sometime this week so what is the reason for it happening and a permanent resolution. Never had the issue on Windows 8.

Several PCs in my store.. some running W7 starter, some W10 Home pro.
A few days ago suddenly I could no longer access a folder on another W10 computer, where we tend to store a lot of important documents. The computer where the other folder is, runs also W10.
Shares are usually done vie HomeGroup - share with home group users.Other computers on the network have no problem accessing it. Furthermore, I can access it from another local account on my computer, but not from my main account (which is a MS account)..It asks for credentials, although I am a homegroup user.. nevertheless I enter the other computer's only username and password (admin ones) and it still does not let me in. Try my own MS user and pass - also "wrong".
Tried leaving and joining the Homegroup.
Tried restarting network related services and setting them on Automatic.
Tried homegroup troubleshooter - says probable problem is with network, so should run Network troubleshooter.
I do so and it shows error:This network troubleshooter shows error: resource (peer to peer grouping) is online, but not responding to connection attempts.
Following the latter and some google searches, I tried adding DisabledComponents" DWORD with "0"value in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetservicesTCPIP6Parameters
But still NO-GO.

Am trying to install build 10074 on a freshly formatted (no dual boot) 256GB SSD in my Dell XPS 12 via USB. I get through the installation, reboot, do the initial setup, provide my MS account, then get stuck. White screen with frozen ball circle and "Just a moment..." displayed.

Is there supposed to be the sound after logging into my desktop like there was in 8.1?
When I cold boot my computer, I log onto the desktop after windows loads, and I never hear any kind of sound. However if I do I restart, I do hear the sound after a couple of moments. Only when I restart though, not from a boot up.
In Windows 8.1 I heard it both when booting up and also when restarting.
Just the initial Windows sound upon logging in is what I am referring to, all my regular sounds are fine.
Not a big deal, just a minor annoyance that is bugging me ?

I do not wish to have the added security of having to log in with a PIN every time before I can access the use of my computer, as was the case with Windows 7. So, I would like to disable this feature.

I just attempted to install Windows 10 on my new PC. During the upgrade process, the screen went blank @ 75% and didn't come back. There was active HDD activity, so I waited until it stopped before restarting the PC.Upon restarting the PC, everything went fine and I got the "Hi" messages and so on. After that, the screen went black again and didn't come back.
After waiting, I forced-shutdown the PC and turned it back on. Windows logo appeared and everything seemed fine. Login screen appeared and I could login. After that, the cursor froze and the screen immediately turned black - and it stays that way. What's wrong?
Specs:
AMD Athlon 860k processor @ 3.7GHz
Nvidia Geforce GTX 750Ti 2GB (MSI)
1TB HDD
8GB DDR3 RAM
I'm currently using a secondary PC and may have to go back to Windows 7, but I can't seem to interact quick enough to get to the option that allows you to revert. It freezes and goes black before I can.I tried tapping F8 on boot but nothing happens, it goes straight to Windows logo.

Here lately when I start my Surface instead of auto signing in like normal, I get an error saying Couldn't connect to network, please try again, or something along those lines. However, it was trying to login to a random account under my name, not my normal user account. This account doesn't appear under Users and Computers either so I'm confused. It's very annoying because my device always defaults to this account to login but it can't.
Attached are some pictures of the aforementioned. Attachment 123275Attachment 123278Attachment 123279

When I log in, I want to go directly to the start screen rather than the desktop and having to click the windows icon/button.I have tried right clicking on the taskbar->properties->Navigation Tab and the only option there is the option to replace command prompt with windows powershell.
I have tried setting the group policy User Configuration->Administrative Template->Start Menu and Taskbar->"Go to the desktop instead of start when signing in" to both disabled and not configured with no effect.how to get the other options to show up in the Navigation Tab of taskbar properties or how to set the start screen as the default when signing in?I am on Windows 10 Pro build 10240, upgraded from 8.1 Pro and am logged in with an administrator account.

I can logon without problems to WiFi networks where I provide a passphrase/password to the Wifi-point. This is the case at home and at friends' and family.I can also logon on to public WiFi networks such as on trains, hotels, restaurants and what not. Some of these are like the situation described above, some are hotspot like.Where I run into problems is in corporate network situations. I'll have been provided with a UID and Password (which work, I verified them on my smartphone), see the WiFi signal I am to log on to and what is supposed to happen is:
After I have made the connection to the WiFi spot, my browser is to open automatically and bring me to a URL where I can enter the UID and Password after which I'll be connected. This does not happen. ORI should open my browser and attempt to access any url after which I am guided to a URL where I can enter the UID and Password
I'll see the WiFi point, make the connection, the browser does not open automatically and when I open it myself and try a URL (e.g. CNN.com), instead of requesting a UID and Password I just get the error 'server not found'...

Since the latest major Windows 10 update (fall 2015), Internet Explorer has been refusing to log me into SSL-protected (https:) websites without me having to alter the recorded user name.
Windows changes my user name to MicrosoftAccountmy.email@address.com, even though the original user name was a short plaintext one. Windows does remember the correct password, so all I have to do is change the user name back to the correct one.I log into the site, however, the user name is back to the MicrosoftAccount one.

I get the message: "Interactive logon Initialization process has failed." This occurs only once in a while, while login off from a user. I get a black screen with a dialogue box with the message and an OK button. I can't click the OK button and need to do a reset because the computer is frozen.
In the event log I get the following message: ID4005: Logon process from Windows has suddenly ended. (translation from Dutch). Also, a refresh doesn't work. I did a full fresh re-install of windows 10 but the problem remains. Maybe a certain program I'm running?

I cannot give a lot of details about the PC because it is not mine and the user does not want to give a lot out (not sure why). However, it has Windows 10 64-bit and is very powerful (i7, 16 GB ram, 2TB hdd). Whenever I go to switch users or log off, the screen goes black. There is no cursor and the keyboard buttons stop working (i.e. light for Num Lock doesn't light up). The only way to get back onto the computer is to force shutdown by holding the power button. There are no problems with the initial boot or login, only when you go to "switch users" or "log off". The computer resources are not being taxed and the heat is in control. I do not receive any BSOD, only a black screen with no response.
I have tried:
- Removing an update from Windows 10 that caused boot loops
- Rolling back video driver
- Installing NVIDIA driver updated 10.7.2015
- Ran sfc /scannow (found errors but couldn't fix it)
- Ran DIMS after and it found nothing to remove
- Ran dskchk and did not have any problems
- Searched over five hours for a solution
- Changed power settings to never sleep for: Display, PC, HDD
- Disabled USB service that was causing a different issue
- No egregious problems in Event Viewer
- I checked registry for proper paths before and after sleep mode/shut down/boot and that was also fine (explorer.exe I believe)
My friend says that, in no way, will he reload Windows 10 because it was just recently loaded and was working originally.

I had no problems with either upgrade on my laptop to Win10 Home or desktop PC to Win10 Pro, It's only after a recent update on my PC with Pro that I can't get past the password screen when logging into Yahoo mail. Filling in my user name/email account works fine but the next screen for my password won't work. I click the "continue" button but nothing happens. This is the only site so far where this happened.
