I installed windows 10 from 7 and if i try to sign into cortana, onedrive or microsoft accounts it either say (something went wrong) or (there was a problem connecting to onedrive) Browsers work fine so i know i have an internet connection. I have reinstalled windows 10 once with no change.
View 8 RepliesI recently was forced to create a new user account on my Windows 10 PC since old one got corrupted. This new one is a local account/administrator. When going to the account settings I then go to the "Sign in with a Microsoft account instead" option which works totally fine. I am asked to input the email of my Microsoft account and password. So far so good. After I do that I then encounter a screen that says "Sign in to this device using your Microsoft account". It asks me for my current Windows password one more time and says the next time I sign into windows I'll be using my Microsoft account password. So I then enter my windows password and here is where the lovely screw up happens that says "Oops, something went wrong. Whatever happened, it was probably our fault. Please try again."
I've tried countless times and attempted to skip this page by clicking next and nothing. I can't use my Microsoft account at all on this computer it seems anymore.
Basically, when I setup my system I run my primary user as an admin to install and set everything the way I like it. After a week or so I remove my primary user from the Administrators group. I then use the default Admin account (usually Administrator) to do any other major changes or installs.
I understand that he default administrator account is disabled by Windows and needs to be enabled, but my gripe is that windows has allowed my only active user, which happen to be in the local admin group, to remove it's own Administrative privilege.
Now I have a PC with one standard user and no way to enable my admin, or otherwise do any administrative actions.
HOW CAN I ENABLE ADMIN WHEN MY ONLY USER ISN'T AN ADMIN?
WHY WOULD WINDOWS ALLOW THIS TO OCCUR?
I've attached a couple screen shots showing my list of users, which will show the only active user and the other 3 disabled (icon shows down arrow); as well as my Administrator group showing the disabled Administrator user...which is disabled.
And I know I *should* have enabled the Administrator account BEFORE I removed my own admin...but I'm here now and need a fix.
when I start Windows 10, I have to sign in (without giving a password) to the last User that was signed in. In other words I don't have any options as to what User can sign in. But, when I start Windows 10, I want to be presented with a screen where I can see all the Users on my system. Then I want to be able to select which User to sign in. At the moment I'm having to log off to see this screen showing User options. Can I use secpol.msc?

How to remove the e-mail account from Windows 10, or how to disable the sign in requirement.
I followed the instructions but it did not work.
When I switched from 8.0/8.1, one of the things that thrilled me the about 10 was that I didn't have to sign back in every time the computer sent to sleep!
Now, after the last update, I have to do this again. What a major PITA! Is there any way to disable this? I have absolutely no reason to be worried about security in my own home.
(I also notice that I am now occasionally getting some strange screens upon starting up and before the sign-in screen. I have been ignoring them. The last one (and maybe the earlier ones, too) asked "Do you like what you are seeing?" What the heck are these

Since I've updated to 1511 10586, I'm not able to click in Start Menu, click in my user name and sign out. What happens is that the menu that has to appear when you click on your username does not show anymore since I've updated to 10586 build.
It is posible to Sign out using any of the other options like alt+f4 or win key + X and Shutdow or Sign out.
why this menu is not diplayed anymore?
Currently have multiple user profiles and have to log into each one and sign out before shutting the PC down.
Could a batch file be created to sign out of all user profiles from any or one particular one...?
I know that a huge part of Windows 10 is that they are trying to make it all on the cloud, but I feel MUCH more secure with everything on my computer. I will want to use the cloud for some things, but not for everything.
The thing I want to avoid the most is using my Microsoft account to sign into my computer. I want to have my own local account that is separate from all internet as my computer login. If I want to do stuff online, I will go to the browser.
My annoyance is that Every time I try to search for a folder or program using the search button, it opens Cortana, who immediately asks me to sign in with my Microsoft account. At first I was fine with it, but then I noticed that it changed my computer login into my Microsoft account login.
Is there a way to make Cortana stop telling me to sign in to Microsoft every time I try to search for a folder?

View 1 RepliesWhenever I sign in to my user account I get a blue window with a critical error message......saying Start menu and cortana aren't working ( I have cortana turns off in options anyway ) then it says we will try and fix it next time you sign in, with the only option to sign out.....this happens every time I start the PC up, but OK after signing out and in again , is it anything to do with shutup10 that I ran recently, although it's not affecting my windows 10 laptop.
View 3 RepliesNot sure whether this is related to the recent upgrade (yesterday jan 28 2016), but I restarted my PC after after the upgrade, all was OK, I switched it off and went home. Today after I swithed my PC on the following appeared: "The Group Policy Client Service failed the sign-in. The universal unique identifier (UUID) type is not supported" Wow, this frightened me as hell. The logon screen reappeared and I managed to log-in on the second attempt.
View 3 RepliesI like the security and convenience of having an account with administrative privileges, which I only use for installing and changing critical settings and an account which I use for all other purposes, which does not have administrative privileges.I would like to abandon Chrome, which allows me to synchronize my bookmarks and all other settings across all users in my Windows 10 boot and even in my logon to Windows 7 in the multi-boot of my desktop computer. Every single change I make in one Chrome browser instantly appears when I open the Chrome browser of any other logon. This is working perfectly across both of my Win 10 users and both of my Win 7 users of my multi-boot desktop.
I would like to be able to switch to MS Edge as my browser and have the same synchronization across both of my Windows 10 logons as I presently have with Chrome but this feature is not available in Edge unless both of my Windows 10 logons (that are on the same installation of Windows 10) are Microsoft User accounts. But Windows 10 won't allow me to have two logons with the same Microsoft account. It has only allowed me to have one of those accounts be a Microsoft account and the other a Local account.
Are any of the following (or anything else you know about) possible in order to get synchronization:Use the hidden administrator as my second account with administrative privileges and be able to synchronize it with my account without administrative privileges? (Is it automatically a MS account rather than a local one and is it automatically the same MS account as the MS user account I have created)?Open a second Microsoft Account with a different email address? The MS website gives instructions but there is no prompt to do so when I try. How do I disable the opening password when booting up the computer? I tried the netplwiz command and unchecked the box but all it did was make another user with the same name. Or is there a way I can make a new admin account for him somehow and delete all the other ones from that one?
View 1 RepliesI signed in with a microsoft account in windows 10 because I wanted to try minecraft windows 10 edition. Now I want to remove it but I am unable to. To remove the account I go click the start menu, click my name, click change account settings, scroll down to accounts used by other apps, click my email, click remove, but nothing happens. I did switch to a local account. When I click remove, the settings window just disappears without anything happening. I also ran the SFC Command but it found nothing. I'm running windows 10 pro free upgrade, I stupidly created a Microsoft account to install an app 'remote desktop' it changed my login to an email address, that messed up all my network logons, and I don't want an email logon, I hate it. I want a normal name login. I forever connect to remote servers and cant mess around trying to connect!
How can I remove the Microsoft account login, its taken over my prime login with all my applications, I cant seem to delete it, I deleted my Microsoft account and now cant change the password on it!
I don't mind hacking the registry. I just need it gone. otherwise its a start again windows 7 installation.
Windows 10, set to boot in safe mode (alternate shell) without network access. So, I forget my microsoft account password (usually i used my pin), how to get into the alternative shell or how to boot normally.
