Every time I boot my laptop.. i am greeted by enter PIN... i need to click sign in option then pick fingerprint everytime i need to login. Is there a way to make fingerprint as my default way to login?...

1. After installing W10, it seems rebooting brings up two accounts with the same email address. The first account is linked to my live.com account and uses the live.com password to login. The live.com login is what I wanted and I set up the PC to auto login with those credentials. But now this second login option pops up and kills the auto login. This second login seems to allow for a local or domain login. How do I disable that second login option?
2. I was putting up with item 1, but today I have managed to lock myself out altogether. Since I have my W10 connected to a TV and am viewing from a distance, I right clicked on the desktop and changed the font size to 150%. It asked me to logoff so that this change could take effect. When coming back up the live.com logon password box only seems to take 5 characters. My password is 9 characters. I am now locked out of my PC.
I am now on my Chromebook and have confirmed the live.com password is still valid (just in case that is the problem).
Can I use switch user option on power option list or on start menu list ?

I have an old tablet pc, motion computing C5. When I click the keyboard button in the taskbar, the touch screen keyboard comes up. Problem is its the handwriting option, not the default qwerty keyboard. How to get it back to the default???

Unable to resize a batch of photos using the built-in Windows 10 resize feature with the Send To option:
1. Open a folder containing photos.
2. Select some photos.
3. Right-click selected photos and choose "Send to."
4. Click on "Mail Recipient" in the listed options in the pop-out menu.
5. Notice that the "Attach Files" dialogue box displays.
6. From the drop-down menu, I selected "Smaller: 640 x 480"
7. An estimate of the new total file size is given... press the Attach button.
8. Notice that the progress of the file re-size operation displays, "Preparing to send."
Receive error message, "There is no email program associated to perform the requested action..."
Not true, I went into the Control Panel and associated the Windows 10 Mail program as the default email program. Please see attached screen shots as verification/clarification. Is there something I am missing? I am using Windows 10 Pro.
Does Defender Offline is supposed to be a default option for the recovery environment? I don't see any options for it, or do I have to use ICD to create a custom option for the WIM?
View 2 RepliesWindows 10 x64 had been working fine. Yesterday, I noticed the system had gone to the spinning circle... I walked away and gave it overnight, but no change. After reboot, I get to the login screen for 30 seconds or so - with no user accounts showing - then it goes to the solid blue screen with spinning dot circle. I suspect the latest update was applied "while I was sleeping".
What I've tried:
Rebooting (Goes to same place)
Safe mode (same login screen - no user accounts listed)
System Restore (No restore points - argh! why?!?!)
System Image Recovery (No system images found)
Startup Repair (allows either admin to authenticate, says "Diagnosing your pc" , then fails) -- logs to d:windowssystem32logfilessrtsrtrail.txt, open in notepad, shows no errors, "OS booted successfully"
Command prompt (works - but what should I look at?)
Go back to previous build - save my files (fails at about 40%) - I would prefer not to delete my files. (though they are backed up)
When I restarted my laptop and typed in my password, it said that the password was incorrect. But I know it was right. That time I couldn't connect the internet too. I need logging in to my laptop.
View 1 RepliesI just upgraded a new laptop to Windows 10 with the latest build. Everything was great until I rebooted after uninstalling some bloatware and now I can't get back into Windows. The login screen comes up and the only user account (admin) is listed, but there is no where to enter the password. This has be baffled.
I've been trying to get into safe mode, but the HP Envy 15 that I'm using doesn't seem to want to let me do that.
My friend upgraded to Windows 10 with no problems. He logged in for about 2 weeks with no issues. Then for some inexplicable reason one day he couldn't login as his password was not accepted. On looking at the login screen his email had changed from the previous "name@btinternet.com" to "name@live.co.uk" and as he didn't know this had changed he was entering his password for the previous email login. He hasn't used the live.co.uk account for years so doesn't know that password. A password reset has been requested (done via his mobile phone).
QUESTION - Is it possible that this default login setting was changed without my friend taking action to change it, as he is certain he did not. Have Microsoft enforced a live.co.uk email account to login as part of an update?? (sounds ludicrous but I've heard of weirder things).
The result is he is having to wait 30 days to get access to his password-reset live.co.uk account so is without his laptop for that amount of time. I'm looking at a password work around to get him in sooner.
I'm running Widows 10 on my MacBook via Parallels Desktop. When the W10 login screen appears, I get my user name appear and it logs itself in but is declined. Next, my user name is displayed twice and I click the top one and enter my PIN number and I'm logged in. I would like to delete the second user name display.

However, the account does not appear at the bottom left of my login screen along with the other accounts on my system, so I am unable to use the guest account.

View 3 RepliesI have an Acer (Intel Pentium Windows 10, 64-bit) computer which I bought a few months ago, and created one 'user' (my name - say John) Suddenly this week when I logged in (as John) the only items on the desktop were the default programs installed with the computer; all my files were gone. When opening the browser, or windows media player, all my custom settings were gone and it was as if the programs were being used for the first time. The default program used to open files (e.g. the original program instead of windows media player) had all reverted also.The start button was/is also not working.
I then discovered my files are still there and accessible - to do so I have to right-click on one of the programmes on desktop and 'open file location' then I can use the left column to (through windows explorer) get to C drive then 'Users' then 'John' and I can access everything that way.Also, the keyboard settings have bizarrely changed ie shift + 2 gives the @ sign instead of quotation mark.I have Norton which suggests no virus involved.I didn't have system restore activated.When computer starts it says press DEL to enter setup but nothing happens when I press it.is there anyway to fix this without doing a reset?
I have my user account which is connected with ms account which shows my email along with my user name on login screen. I made one more admin account without ms account and made it a default user with password. Now on login screen on left side both my accounts show up. Is there way to hide my original account from this login screen because I do not want anyone sitting with me could know my email as this account shows my email along with user name.

I set up guest account without password but every time i start computer I have to enter username and password. the same situation was when i used win8. I tried this Sign in - Show All Users or Last User in Windows 8.
Also created aconther account with password- still i have to enter username.
How can i get windows to list users on startup? Or alternative to Prey project?
Does Win 10 require an Internet connection for me to login with my Windows Live password or has it stored the hash on my laptop?
View 1 RepliesI'm running windows 10 pro free upgrade, I stupidly created a Microsoft account to install an app 'remote desktop' it changed my login to an email address, that messed up all my network logons, and I don't want an email logon, I hate it. I want a normal name login. I forever connect to remote servers and cant mess around trying to connect!
How can I remove the Microsoft account login, its taken over my prime login with all my applications, I cant seem to delete it, I deleted my Microsoft account and now cant change the password on it!
I don't mind hacking the registry. I just need it gone. otherwise its a start again windows 7 installation.
So I have Windows 10 and want to get rid of the password protected login feature. I found some steps on this site which are vaguely "On your windows 10 Start menu window, right click at the Win logo > select Run option > in the Run box type netplwiz > OK > follow the prompts. Restart Win 10."
Did that. On restart, I didn't need a password. Naturally, I thought the problem was solved. Nope. When the computer goes to sleep, I need to enter a password to re-open it; when it is turned off or restarted, I don't need a password.
I just upgraded to Windows 10 and skipped the sign up process at the beginning but now when I try to sign up to my Microsoft Account it shows no response when I click it. I haven't been able to use cortana or download anything from the store because it shows no response when I click it. Whenever I try signing up for cortana a black screen pops up for a millisecond everytime I click on it but nothing happens. I can't even make the sign up dialog box appear.
View 9 RepliesWe got our daughter a new PC for xmas which is preloaded with Win10 Home x64.
I have set myself up as the main user (Admin) and also set up a 'family member' account for her to control her activity which has her own seperate login details consisting of her Microsoft email address and a strong password.
Rather than her having to login with her strong password which is quite difficult to remember for a 9yr old, I wanted to set up a 4 digit PIN login instead like I have set up on my Admin account.
I then logged in to her account to set up the PIN login which asks for my parental permission which requires me to login and allow the change.
I am then required to input my credit card details and address to verify I am an adult.
Now the problem is on the address part the screen the country is already set to the USA which requires a State and Zipcode whereas I live in the UK. There is no visible menu to change the country from the US to the UK. (see photo below)
Now my Admin account and my daughters account are both correctly set to the UK as their region with keyboard settings set to the UK also.
I can find no way possible to change the region as the USA locale is already set/grayed out with no menu to change it.
1. I have run netplwiz to not require a user name or password
2. 95% of boot ups, boot into Windows 10 without asking for a user name or password
3. I do not have any local accounts
4. I only have my Microsoft account
5. And here are my questions

I use "netplwiz" to set auto login feature. But i found that if i use local account, it works well, but if i use Microsoft account to log in windows 10, it will still ask me for passwords when waking up from sleeping mode or power on.
View 8 RepliesThis is a thing that was also on 8.1 (that I hated a lot) and i couldnt remove. I have 2 accounts on my pc (home and my own account) and everytime i turn the pc on, the last account that was used logs in automatically (mine asks password actually, but the home's one doesn't, so it just logs in).
This is a thing i hate, since makes me waste time login out and login with the account i want to use. Is out there any option for disable that? In 8.1 that wasn't possible.
