I'm having the same issue and Option 3 in that tutorial is not working for me. Should I start a new thread?
Mouse Hover Makes Window Active - Enable - Windows 7 Forums
My situation: in Win7, I had the option checked to 'Activate window on mouse hover' and just upgraded to Win10, and having no delay before the window gets active.
I went into the registry and for
HKEY_CURRENT_USERControl PanelDesktop
UserPreferenceMask the value there after the upgrade is DF 7E 07 80 12 00 00 00
I changed this to the suggested: 9F 3E 07 80 12 00 00 00 and after logging back in, on hover, the window gets active but not focused - not what I'm looking for so I have left this value at DF...
for:
ActiveWndTrkTimeout
I changed the decimal value to 150 and still no delay. Even at 500, still no delay.
How do I turn off the mouse auto click when it hovers over a link in a web page. I downloaded the windows 10 and it has started doing this. I can't find a thing anywhere about this issue. I have an Asus laptop and a Toshiba laptop and they are both doing this since getting the windows 10. I spend more time going back to my original page than I get to read the original page! Try shopping and reading a description. Taking a test online was challenging to say the least.
I have been having this rendering issue for more than 3 months now and it persists after several OS re-installs. Resolving this problem is of extreme importance to me since many of the programs I rely on are affected. Reverting to an older Windows version is not an option for me.
Affected programs:
Mocha Pro 4.1.3, IDA Pro 6.8, VLC Player & qBitTorrent (all versions)overall countless new and old programs affected
How to reproduce:
I can reproduce it successfully every timeMove the mouse from one sub-menu item that expands (SS1) to another (SS2) for a few times (usually around 10 is enough)It can also happen by interacting with any other UI elements in the program (although takes a few more clicks)
SS1:
SS2:
Facts:
Mouse stops highlighting any buttons or menu items in the whole program - if you hover over anything that's supposed to have a hover action (like these menus) - nothing will happen, as if the mouse isn't thereClicks will also only work in less than 10% of all scenarios'Ghost' menus (only the shadows of the drop-down menus are visible) will as well start appearing from some hover actionsUI of the affected program suddenly becomes very slow, laggy and choppy when the bug is triggeredEvery program effected by the bug will not exit properly no matter what and the process will stay running forever, unless closed via task managerThe only solution is to restart the program
Troubleshooting done:
old versions of the same softwarenew versions of the same softwareall compatibility settingsall possible integrated and dedicated GPU drivers (from both laptop manufacturer websites & official websites)fully disabling Windows animationsre-installing my computer 3 times
My guess (as of 4th of January, 2016):
I think that the hovering effect of the mouse gets 'stuck' in one place (the place where the glitch initially occurs) and it stays there forever, despite the movement of the actual mouse.
How do you change the amount of time the tooltip popup stays open in Win10 when I mouse over an icon that generates a popup? I want to make it so the popup stays longer.
I was running Win 7 before the upgrade and I had the window focus setting to follow my mouse. In other words, I just needed to place my mouse in a window for it to be focused... no clicking necessary. There was a small delay in the focus and this worked well for me. I find in 10, however, that the delay is gone so as I move my mouse around the screen, windows popup very quickly. The easiest solution for me is to just turn off the feature. But I can't seem to find where to do that. In 7, this was done via Ease of Access menu but that option is not there in 10 nor is it in the mouse options and I don't see a Windows Settings option/menu anywhere. The only way I can manage my windows right now is to minimise everything other than the window I'm working in... this is a bit inconvenient.
I installed build 10532 this afternoon and ran into an issue with the search window not having accurate mouse pointing. As a result I rolled back to build 10525 which fixed that issue. My problem now though is that I can't access folders when I key in a search item, for example keying in Documents I can't access the Documents folder in the suggested items.
How to disable over popups on windows 10? When using windows 10 email and hovering over a clickable link, such as a picture, there is a huge hover popup with the entire URL. It is annoying and takes up a big part of the screen. see screenshot below.
The hover-event response time is too fast , and it triggers unwanted events. How can i shut off the hover-event detection or drastically slow it down ?
For some reason tooltip/hover text and some other text (often for settings) is highlighted pink. This is shown in the screenshot. I believe in previous versions of windows you could change this in "advanced apperance options" however that was removed in windows 8 and 10 (I think). I would like to change the pink highlight to the default white (no highlight).
Last, previously closed window outline remains displayed. Sometimes can 'force' it to go away by left clicking on an unused portion of desktop but not always.
Just got laptop for Christmas and has always had this problem so might be a setting.
Have looked at Advanced -> Visual Settings but didn't see any that looked like would fix (tried setting Best Performance - which turned everything off but didn't fix)
I use left handed mouse, and swapping left / buttons works OK. I also set the wheel button to be "double click". But the wheel button brings up the context menu instead of double click. If I change to right hand mouse, the wheel button gives double click as expected. how to make the wheel button give double click for left hand mouse?
Ok so i have no clue where to ask this but i figured the answer might lie within a windows 10 shortcut so im gonna ask this here. My problem is i like to play games and have apps like twitch or pandora radio in the background of my game whilst i play, but when the action picks up i want to quick mute google chrome from within the game without have to tab out. How to set up a shortcut to mute chrome using a hotkey which can be toggled from within another window.
I recently upgraded my CPU, Motherboard, Ram, and HDD to SSD. I upgraded my genuine copy of windows 8.1 to windows 10 about 3 weeks prior. I didn't want to install windows 8 all over again only to then have to update to windows 10 right after. So I just cloned my HDD onto my SSD. It worked fine for a day, but now its telling me I need to activate windows.
What do I do, is there any way to activate without having to reinstall windows 8 then upgrade to windows 10? I know my windows 8 product key will not work.
I did the upgrade with the media creation tool - "Upgrade this PC" option and my Windows wasn't activated. Using the "Activate" button gets me a "Windows can't be activated. Try again later" message (I'm on Brazilian Portuguese language, so the actual English message may be a little different).
After some web searching, I tried a variety of slmgr commands that all return error messages saying I'm on a "non-core edition" and none of the slui options give any result (not even errors, they just don't do anything). Clicking on the error detail link on the activation page shows a blank popup.
Product key information shows *****- opposed to *****-XXXXX I've seem in many screenshots of other people having activation problems.
My previous OS was Windows 7 SP1 OEM that came shipped with the laptop and was never formatted (and the hardware was never changed). I kept my personal data while making the upgrade.
Another issue I'm having which I don't know if it is related or not to the activation problems, is that Window Update have tried and failed many many times to install package KB3074683.
For the record, the activation screen was different and I haven't received any message about the system not being activated before creating a Microsoft account in the XBox app (and I still log on the computer with my local account).
How to activate my Windows 10? I'd like to make a clean install but I'm afraid of doing so before my I get my license and not be able to roll back to Win7 if I can't activate it.
I originally got win10 through the free upgrade from 8.1 and did the install that only replaces system files etc. Some things weren't working correctly such as the sleep function and I kept being unable to login due to the start menu and Cortana not starting, so I decided to do a reset of the OS.
I managed to reset and get a fresh install of win10 but now I can't get activation to work. I've run all the windows updates and tried the slmgr.vbs /ato command but it says my product key is blocked.
I've recently been trying to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10. I have tried to use the installer provided by Microsoft but the installer hangs on Checking For Updates. This doesn't end and I cannot pass it. I cannot use windows update to get the update as it just keeps searching for hours on end. I have tried to install the OS from USB and click 'Upgrade the System' but the OS will not activate; I guess it does not count as upgrading my OS so the key is not registered.
I have tried following this (Windows 10 - Upgrade Installation) and I have downloaded the ISO stated in Step 6 using option 1 (Windows 10 ISO Download) but then when I get to Step 7 #8, the ISO does not have Setup.exe?
So i have 2 hard drives. one is an old one with windows 7 still on it, and the other was new with nothing on it. I took out the old one with windows 7 on it but didn't wipe it, and put in the new one. I installed windows 10 on the new one via bootable usb. Now windows says it can't activate. I've already downloaded 100gb of games and i REALLY don't want to do that again.
How can i get the new hdd to activate windows without wiping it? will the product key be the same for both versions? Can I update the old drive then swap it out with the new one and it be activated?
I have been an Insider since the very first Insider build was released. I had installed each and every build first being on the Slow ring and the on the Fast. I had upgraded from a genuine Windows 8.1 Pro.
When the final RTM build TH1 Professional 10240 was released to Insiders ahead of schedule, I readily installed it and my machine was permanently activated at that time. The product key used was a generic one ending in 3V66T. Many of you may be knowing this.
Today, in fact just now, I formatted my system partition and installed a clean copy of Windows 10 Pro from USB which I had created using the Microsoft Creation Tool. When the setup asked me for a product key, I entered the same generic key as stated above. But now when I go to the Settings, it says the key doesn't work and hence, my machine cannot be activated. I signed-in using my Microsoft account before using the PC.
What the heck! I am an Insider. And didn't expect this to happen. What should I do next? Would the machine get activated itself after some time?
I am eligible to use Office 365 Pro Plus through my University and was able to use it with no issues on Windows 7, but upon attempting to install the programs on Windows 10 I am unable to activate the programs through the Microsoft Activation Wizard. I consistently receive error code 0x8004FC12 and am unable to continue with the activation process.
I have run sfc /scannow and even did a fresh install of Windows 10 to no avail. I've also tried the quick repair and online repair options using Add/Remove Programs with no success and I keep getting the same error. Running as administrator also does not solve the issue.
From what I remember from installing on Windows 7, I did not even need to undergo the activation process and the programs worked perfectly after installation, so my guess is that the programs are unable to connect and validate my license for some reason. I have tried disabling antivirus programs but this did not work either. Office 365 Online clearly shows I have it activated on my Windows 10 installation but repeated attempts at reinstalling have not fixed the issue.
I upgraded from 8.1 (genuine Sony Vaio ) using the media creation upgrade option, it installed and activated to windows 10 pro.
I then used the same media creation tool to download the iso and used Rufus to put it onto a usb so that I could do a clean install.
I installed it and skipped the parts prompting for a product key, however once it loads up when I try to activate it states 0xC004C003 details section says the key has been blocked?
I have tried everything I think, but obviously not.
Cannot open TPM, pop up tells me I do not Have at least 1.2. Cannot open Bit locker until I complete TPM wizard and assign myself as administrator??. then I can open Bit locker and proceed to encrypt my hard drive??
Is there a download for 1.2++ or is it a hardware addition..
