View 1 RepliesI'm a little confused as to whether we can use the Messaging app in W10 desktop to send SMS via our Windows Phones. Is this actually the case? Because if it is, my messages are not syncing across devices and my Messaging app only gives me the option to send messages via Skype, which is annoying since a few people I know don't have W10 mobile yet and/or have devices from competing companies.
View 5 RepliesI was using skype as usual, put my computer to sleep, and woke it a few hours later. (Laptop) Anyways, I tabbed over to skype, and started fiddling with video options (I was trying out a spare webcam since my laptop's is horrible). I compared the two feeds for a while, and clicked the drop-down option for my laptop camera to compare again.
This is when my skype stopped responding, and I closed it with Task Manager. When I opened it again, I received an error telling me I was already logged on. When checking Task Manager for any skype processes to close so I could entirely restart the program, I found this: [URL] .... I have it highlighted. I can't end the task.
My SP3 was originally on Win 8.1. I used Microsoft's media creation tool to create a USB installer for Win 10, then upgraded to Win 10 from usb. After upgrading, I verified that Win 10 was activated. I then booted from the USB installer and did a clean install.
The strange thing is, every few days, "Activate Windows" would appear on the bottom right of my screen. When I try to activate windows, I get this:
However, sometimes upon restarting the SP3 it would be activated again.
I upgraded my computer from Windows 7 to Windows 10. It has already been activated. This Windows 10 installation is on the hard disk. I installed a new SSD drive in the system and did a clean install of Windows 10 on it. Unfortunately the Windows on the SSD drive fails to activate.
I talked Microsoft support and they told me to install Windows 7 on the SSD drive and then upgrade it to Windows 10. That seems like lot of work, especially since I have already installed Windows 10 on the SSD drive.I could clone the hard disk to SSD but I would rather start with a clean Windows 10.
I recently upgraded my PC with an SSD and installed Windows 10 onto it. I still have my old HDD attached with all my old windows files, etc. I was wondering if there is a way to basically re-activate my programs that were installed on my old HDD. I would like to be able to manage them in my control panel.
View 1 Replies I am enrolled in the Insider program, upgrading from 8.1. My current build is 10162 and when I check for updates, no updates are available. However, I've been receiving a message every 5 minutes that my build is expiring soon and once it does, I will not be able to boot my pc. When I go to Settings, I am presented with the option to activate Windows, but when I click the link, I am taken to the store with error code 0x80000FFFF.
I'd also like to stop Insider builds and just get regular windows updates. However, when I click the Stop Insider builds button in Settings>Advanced Options, I get a popup that says 'We need you to do a few things to stop receiving builds." with a link that says "how to I opt out..." When I click the link it opens a browser window that just says that I need to click Stop Insider builds, confirm and restart my pc. But I am not presented with that option. I have a little over a week before my build expires, and short of reverting back to 8.1 then upgrading sans insider builds.
I have this week completed building my new Pc and I have received a message in settings you need to activate windows 10 which was a free download in July 2015 as I was upgrading from windows 7,however the product code I have does not work and Microsoft said I will have to buy a new key is this correct.
View 2 RepliesWhen activating the START icon/button it presents a critical error message & resets the pc. Any way other than reinstall?
View 3 RepliesI don't know if this is any indication that the Messaging app on the PC will function for texts in the future or just a bug but all of my texts from one particular contact show up as Skype messages through the PC Messaging app. However, they are SMS texts and not Skype messages. This is my only contact that I have both skype and a phone number for. And it only shows texts from when I got my first WP in April 2014 to May 2014 (which is a lot of texts for this contact). The photo below is of the texts on my phone and the same exact texts with timestamps on the Messaging app for PC. I only overlaid the red bars to protect the name.
I am running Windows 10 Build 10565 on PC and Build 10572 on Mobile (However, I did see it while using the previous mobile build as well).
I just installed Windows 10 mobile (v10586.107) and I wanted to try to send a text message from my desktop through my phone to my friends. I could have sworn that I saw an article on Windows Central that explained how to connect my desktop and mobile through Cortana, but I can't seem to find it now.
Did I imagine this? Is the texting feature not implemented yet?
I was thinking it would be really great if my desktop were to inform me when I received a new message or missed a call since I hardly check my phone.
I recently deleted text message conversations and my counter got set to 1. This will neither increment nor reset. How to get this working again?
View 1 RepliesWhen i click on a phone number in an email on the new outlook app for PC in windows 10. It pops up the contact with the option to message them using "ms-messaging".
Just curious as to how long its been there? There is also the option to call the number that takes you to the store to to select an app that can do it.
My laptop is Leveno running Window 10. I got BSOD a lot recently, sometimes while using the laptop surfing on the Internet and sometimes activating it from standby. The errors I got were Critical Process Died, 000021a, and kernel error I have uploaded the error files for your interpretation.
View 5 RepliesStart button ceasing to work? I can't access many programs that I don't have as desktop shortcuts. None of the notification icons in the systray activate, so I can't access the notify center or change my wireless signal. I've seen this answered on many other forums, but none of the fixes seem to work for me.
View 3 RepliesI got an error message. saying "Either there is no default mail client or the current mail cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please run Microsoft Outlook and set it as the default mail client". I check the outlook option and it is set to outlook as a default program. I also went to default program in the control panel and that is also set to outlook. When I open a saved mail on m computer with an extension .msg it will get that error message.
View 2 RepliesIs there a way to RE-install Phone, Photos, Windows Store, Messaging, Maps, Zune Music, Zune Video, and I'm not sure what else, on my windows 10 pro? My grandson decided to mess around and uninstall them
View 1 RepliesDid we receive any word whether it would be possible for users to sync SMS messages across not only phones but computers as well? It would be very convenient for me if I could respond to someone who messaged me from my computer rather than my phone when I'm at home or doing work.
View 24 RepliesI have a lumia 929 that I installed w10 on. View 1 RepliesNone of these apps seem to work on my system. How to reinstall them in the latest build?

View 3 RepliesI have several user accounts on one machine under Windows 10. I would like to re-log-into these user accounts when the machine reboots from an update or from an extended (longer than UPS hold-up) power failure.
I use Thunderbird and have a lot of junk filtering going on which protects my phone from most spam.
I will be moving my two sons to Dropbox and back their stuff up to my NAS units continuously rather than intermittently.
For these accounts, I want the users' accounts to boot when the machine boots so that Dropbox is making a copy to the local HDD. The NAS units take it from there (final sync method TBD).
In no instance do I want a "live" console.
After I automatically log into the accounts, I want the machine left as if I had hit "switch user" after logging into each account--several accounts active and running, but the console waiting for a login.
I have been testing this in principal where I copy images from a friend's Dropbox to her Google Drive and to my NAS units. Right now I have to manually log into the account that does this after each reboot.
For my account, I also wish to start Thunderbird as well as log in. I assume just adding Thunderbird to the StartUp group will work?
