View 1 RepliesI have two outlook/Hotmail accounts. One I log into the PC with (which is pretty crappy by the way and is a huge hassle in Windows 10 IMO).
In the mail app, I was able to add the mailbox of the one I use, however I have a second email account through Hotmail that when I try to add the account to the mail app, it asks me to verify with a pin. I have never used a PIN with this account.
I went to settings and sign in option, and have an option to change the pin, however it is wanting to change the main account that I log into the pc. The pin appears to be 4 digits (it only allows 4 characters before it auto enters) unlike the main pin which is 8 or 9 numbers.
When trying to add an email account to Outlook 2013 on my daughters Surface Pro 3 running Win10 I get the following error message AFTER the test message is successfully sent.
"The specified device, file, or path cannot be accessed. It may have been deleted, it may be in use, you may be experiencing network problems,. or you may not have sufficient permissions to access it. Close any applications using this file and try again."
Also when saving a Word 2013 document to a local user document folder I get this error message:
"C:UsersahughdocumentsTest document.docx You don't have permission to save in this location. Contact the administrator to obtain permission. Would you like to save in the Documents folder instead?"
There is only one user account on the computer and it is an administrator account.
Bought a Windows 8 Dell Laptop. Downgraded it to Windows 7. Then upgraded it to Windows 10. My previous users were brought over.Next did a clean Windows 10 install.Created the first user as ROOT, and by default appears to be an administrator.
Now wish to add normal users (myself and individual family members). Seems like I can add a family member and "other user". When doing so, they ask for an email so I put one in. But then when I try to log in, they ask for a Microsoft account. How do I add users without them having a Microsoft account?
After making a second local account, is there a way to add a picture to said account?
View 1 RepliesI tried to remove and reinstall mail but the Store now says Reinstall and exits when I click on it...
View 9 RepliesI would like to add my gmail Account to the windows 10 mail and calendar app. But just wondering if it will interfere with my Microsoft email Account ? Like trying to buy stuff from the Store.
View 2 RepliesI have an email address, let's say it's tomjones@yahoo.com. Well in Windows 10, almost any time I try to type it, whether on my yahoo email or on any webpage, it comes out tomjones8@yahoo.com. At first I thought maybe I was accidentally hitting the 8 and adding it in myself, but now I'm very careful when I type it and it's like Windows auto-corrects it to that.
I may have once typed that into a form- I sometimes do just add a number onto my real email when I'm filling something out and want to make a dummy email, but it's like now Windows has decided that is my true email. It's causing serious problems because now if I ever miss that auto-correct it's done, I may send someone a bad email address. I read about turning off auto-correct and I don't want to do that, I just want it to recognize that tomjones@yahoo.com is valid.
When I reply to an email, Mail keeps adding spurious PNG files to my messages. They definitely aren't there when I hit "send" or when they're in my outbox, but they are attached to the mail before the recipient gets it. Sometimes I see them in my "Sent" file, but not always; usually the recipient cannot open them and often I cannot do so either, but when I can open them they seem to show a graphic related to the business of the original sender of the mail that I am replying to (it doesn't happen if I start a new mail instead of replying to one)
View 3 RepliesI have added a gmail account to the Mail app but cannot add a Plusnet POP3 account in Settings/Accounts/Add account. In 'other accounts' I enter the email address and password and get the message : 'We couldn't find info for that account. Make sure that the email address is correct then try again'.
In Windows 7 I use Windows Live Mail which works perfectly well with both accounts. Can I export my accounts and contact info from Win Live Mail to the Win10 app? Live Mail works normally within Win10 but I would prefer to use Mail since it appears to have a more rapid response time.
I've been using Windows 10 for weeks. Until today, it started up just fine by displaying my name and no email address. This is exactly how I want it to be.
Today when Win 10 would not recognize a printer, in order to download an "app" to work with this, I was required to provide a Microsoft email account, which I did (an old Hotmail account I rarely use). Now when I restart or wake up the computer, that old Hotmail account appears as "Administrator". However, I do NOT want that old Hotmail email address associated with this computer.
How can I remove it and get back to logging in with NO associated email address?
NOTE: I do not want to delete the old Hotmail account; just want to remove it from my Windows 10 "Account" menu (My name + Hotmail address + "Administrator").
In case it's required to associate Win 10 with an email address, I use Windows Live Essentials with a company email address. I tried adding it via the "Other Account" option, but Win 10 said it did not recognize the email address I entered, sigh.
I have my hotmail account associated with Mail app in windows 10. I want to add my gmail account to Mail app but I just can't do it. When I click in Add an account in Mail app, nothing happens. I tried to click on Add an account in Settings --> Your email account, but nothing happens. I can't neither delete my hotmail account. When I click on Manage, nothing happens.
What I can do to resolve this problem? I'm running windows 10 pro on a Dell XPS 13.
I am still having problems trying to set up my isp email through windows 10. I know my settings are correct, yet still it says there's a problem.
When I try to sync the account, first it asks me to update the password, which I just did prior to syncing, then after running the sync, nothing loads and it says 'We didn't find anything to show here" and theres a triangle beside my account with an exclamation mark inside it.
When I click on the triangle it opens up again asking me to update the password for that account. Which I do, and I hit save. So I click on Sync, and the cycle begins all over again.
I have deleted the account and re-entered it again, with no success
I had to replace my PC so reinstalled Windows 10 on the new one, all was ok till I tried to set up my email accounts, Hotmail & Googlemail no problem but two others just won't set up. I didn't have a problem with the previous Windows 10 but just can't get them working on this. I have noticed on the settings now there are no boxes for which port it needs (don't know if this is relevant). I tells me my account settings are out of date and when I go to change them the password in the box has 16 digits where as the actual password is only 8 digits, nothing I do changes this as it always reverts to what ever the 16 digit one is, I have removed and reinstalled millions of times (well 4 or 5 times) without success.
I have the accounts on my android phone but would really like them back on my PC
I just joined, but think that I typed in the wrong email address. Can/how I check my email account?
View 2 RepliesIs it safe? I use my email password acct to log in to my pc?
View 8 RepliesAfter selecting (email) +add account, I get a screen that asks me to enter my email address and password. I do so and get the following error message; "We couldn't find info for that account. Make sure the email address is correct and try again."
I'm not sure which address the email client is looking for at this point. However, I entered my valid address (xxxxx.q.com) and valid password to access mail.q.com / smtp.q.com (centurylink) servers. I suspect that the email client does not find q.com to be a valid domain name.

I am logged in to my Microsoft Account and am trying to add an email account to the Mail app by following Brink's tutorial Mail app - Add or Delete Account in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums. When I get to step 9 and enter an email address and password, I get a message saying "We couldn't find info for that account. .....". This happens for each account on my ISP, Cox.net.
There is one email account shown by Mail and it is the same address I use to log into my MS Account.
Just for fun, I am trying to set up my pop3 email account on the application called Mail in Windows 10. I have succeeded in having my MSN and Gmail accounts working in the application, but when attempting to set up my pop3 mail, it will show a triangle with an exclamation point inside it. When I click on it, it opens up an Attention Required with a User Name and Password. Each time I type in the password for the pop3 email account, it still fails to sign on and says "Your [provider] account settings are out-of-date."
I have also tried adding the account under settings>accounts>your email and accounts, and it still says attention required. when I click on manage, the password is too long for it to be the account password. I try retyping in the account password and saving it but it still changes.
Microsoft or my server will not let me sign into my Outlook email account. Each time I try I get:

Every time Windows 10 updates I have problems. I have two Outlook accounts. I can not sign into one of them.
I can't see how to set up 'Other account POP, IMAP' in the Win 10 mail app - or rather I can see how to set up accounts and either the app is faulty or I must be missing something, because I've tried using the advanced settings as recommended in the Ten Forums tutorial on the mail app (Mail app - Add or Delete Account in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums) but I don't see anywhere to put the actual email address for the account I'm trying to set up.
Likewise if I do it step by step setup from the 'Other account POP, IMAP' link in setup although I can put the email address in this eventually gets overwritten by my username when setup is finished - I have my own domain and my hosts username format is totally different to my email address - e.g. the mail format would be 'someone@mydomain.com' whilst the username would be in the format 'mydomain.com_someone' - the app appears to assume that mail address and username are going to be the same as when setup is completed the app shows my username as my email address. I've set up an ActiveSync account fine but I'm stumped on setting my personal mailbox up.
my issue is that I set up my Microsoft account on my Win10 laptop back when Win10 first released. At the time it was associated with an older email account that I have since changed to a new gmail account. I was able to go into my Microsoft account settings online and set the new email as an alias, as well as the primary for the account. My desktop (the system I am typing this on) is on this account with the new gmail address attached to the user account (as a Microsoft account).
My laptop, however, still shows my old email as the account name. I contacted Microsoft directly and they connected to my laptop through a remote connection to try and fix it, but they were unable to figure out how to change the account name.
I have since performed an in-place upgrade to refresh the Win10 install, which prompted for my Microsoft account credentials. I was able to connect successfully, but the account name is still stuck on my old email address. Under User settings in the control panel, there is no option to simply change account name like the local accounts do, and the OS is the home edition, so I have no access to the group policy editor settings. I have seen a few references to registry edits, but I'd rather avoid messing with that because I realize changing the account name might mess up directory addresses (since the 'user' directory is linked to account name).
After adding a POP account on Windows 10 mail app, where is the pst file created and saved?
View 1 RepliesMy friend upgraded to Windows 10 with no problems. He logged in for about 2 weeks with no issues. Then for some inexplicable reason one day he couldn't login as his password was not accepted. On looking at the login screen his email had changed from the previous "name@btinternet.com" to "name@live.co.uk" and as he didn't know this had changed he was entering his password for the previous email login. He hasn't used the live.co.uk account for years so doesn't know that password. A password reset has been requested (done via his mobile phone).
QUESTION - Is it possible that this default login setting was changed without my friend taking action to change it, as he is certain he did not. Have Microsoft enforced a live.co.uk email account to login as part of an update?? (sounds ludicrous but I've heard of weirder things).
The result is he is having to wait 30 days to get access to his password-reset live.co.uk account so is without his laptop for that amount of time. I'm looking at a password work around to get him in sooner.
With the new W10 email client, either with my main account or a second Outlook account, it always picks a random alias for the 'From' address when creating a new email. In the web mail settings I have each account set to send from its primary address and W8 PCs Windows mail clients have an option to choose the used email address.
Where is the setting in W10 and how do I get this under control? This can't be an issue for most as the forums would be full of it. What am I messing up here? The email app is currently useless to me.
I'm usually use Mozilla thunderbird as Mail application.Since I've two new machine installed with Windows 10 I'm trying to figure out if the native Mail application in Windows 10 can be a good alternative
- I didn't find any way to create Mail folder and organize my Mail
- No way to create mail rules
I can't believe that Windows 10 mail is so "primitive".But it does not work on my version of mail, no "File menu".Is Mail on windows 10 really so "bad" ?
