I have just installed windows 10 and I am listed as the administrator. However, if I try to save a newly written document in a folder that I have always previously used for that purpose, I get a message which says:- You don't have permission to save in this location. Contact the administrator to obtain permission. Would you like to save in the Documents folder instead?
I have also noticed that many folders in my C: drive have a small icon attached (a tiny box with a blue top and right facing arrow head). If I try to access any of these folders I am refused permission with the message "access denied". For example, if I try to enter a folder shown as C:/users/all users/documents I get this message. There are dozens of places where this 'blue arrowhead' occurs.
I found my computer updating itself, and it said I would be excited about the new updates. Well now when I click my calculator it says that it cannot be used in my Administrator Account and it asks me to sign in again with another Account. It was working before in my Administrator Account, why not now?
To say the least, I am NOT excited about this at all. Is there anything that I can do to get it working again? I tried right clicking it to see if I could open it with my Administrator, but nothing was there for me to do that with.
As I have progressed through the various versions of Windows, I have somehow managed to acquire 5 administrator accounts (3 x Administrator, 1 x All Users and 1 x David which seems to be the latest). As I am the only user of the computer, is it possible to merge or reduce down to just the David account?
how do I get Win10 to recognize the fact that I am an administrator? I am listed as an administrator in Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > User Accounts.
The reason I ask is that somehow a program call "MPC Cleaner" has managed, uninvited, to get into my system, and all attempts to get rid of it are met with the usual "....administrator...." messages. I've tried all ways, straight forward deletion, entering the folder via command prompt (which renders "access denied" even after the "attrib -r" command), and even the Avast Shredder is unable to touch it. To misquote Henry VIII, "who will rid me of this turbulent pest?"
How do I get rid of this popup on windows 10 Pro / 64 Bit... Once in a while I get a pop up when moving a file or folder asking for... administrator rights.... It's not that big a deal... When it shows up I Click on CONTINUE and the function is completed...
I'm running three drives and one of them has two partitions so that brings it up to four mapped drives... I'm always moving stuff around, downloading, adding plug-ins to my software and so on...
Below are the settings I have set to keep the prompt from popping up but as I said it shows up on occasion... UAC is turned "OFF"
Windows Smart Screen is turned "OFF"
Security Options ... Accounts: Administrator account status "Enabled"
I got this issue yesterday that some applications in my win 10 pc v10240 wont run until I run them as administrator. I thought I did something wrong because I was messing up with registry entries so I tried googling it but didn't find anything. Then today I decided to reinstall windows and after the clean install now the issue is happening again. I dont know what to do because the apps were working fine a few days ago but as from yesterday they wont even after the clean installation of windows. I have checked for viruses and such but nothing on my end.
I have the Administrator account on my computer. I am the only User, no other accounts have been made. So why is it from time to time I find I am blocked from doing something as I do not have permission? Who else but me fas permission? Examples include permission refused for accessing a particular file (not one requiring a password, which would be understandable) and particularly being refused to permission to save somewhere (nowhere 'special') so I have to save to a folder other than the one I had chosen, or selected by an app.
Also, as I am also always the Administrator, why do I have to opt in to what I am in the first place as with Cmd prompt? I used to get apps not launching because I was Administrator, and the only way out I discovered was to reset.
I have a Laptop (Windows Home 10) and a Desktop (Windows 8.1 home) and I want to enable Administrator on both. I have used all of the suggesting about this I got on the internet and nothing works.
I have encountered many problems to come as I learn Win 10. The first of which is how can I change or edit the administrator's name on my PC. I thought like win-7, I could edit, change, or even turn off password protect.
I find no way to do this, as I'am the only one using my PC, I do not need to sign in with a password every time I fire my PC up. Normally I resort to system restore for most problems, however I don't think that would work in this case.
The error code I received told to me to empty files and then "Run the command prompt as an administrator"? Then, type wuauclt.exe/update now??......I don't know what run the command prompt means. I have no skills.
I've just downloaded my Windows 10 upgrade and can't send mail through Outlook 13. On a forum I was told to run the sfc command but when I tried, I was told that I'm not an administrator. Mine is the only account on my PC, so surely I must be.
If I right click on a bat file, and Run as Administrator, all I get is a brief flash (perhaps a command window?). Just double clicking on it runs as expected (though not elevated, which is what I need). If I open an elevated command window and run the bat file within that window it works fine.
Tested with a simple bat file (echo "hello", pause). Same results.
WIn10 Home build 10240, administrator user account
I recently downloaded Windows 10. For some reason, my account on the computer --which is the only account on the computer-- is a 'standard account'. Because of this, I can't download or make some important changes that I need to make. I admit that I'm not computer savvy, but I've tried a few things. I've tried activating the 'hidden' Windows 10 administrator password but I can't because you have to run the cmd as an administrator to do this [when I try it doesn't give me the option to click yes]. I also tried adding family members to my account in order to make those accounts administrators. I created new email addresses, send the invitation, and accepted the invitations, but every time I log on to my Microsoft account, it still states that they invitations are pending.
I have been running windows 10 for a while now, without any BSOD whatsoever. About a month ago I added a new account and made it my administrator account, then changed the privilege on my original account to standard user account. No issues in doing so. I have been successful, in the past, in switching back and forth from admin to user accts with no problems. Today, though I logged into the admin account to do some updates. But after about 1 to 2 minutes into logging onto it, I get the BSOD with the error bad_pool_caller. The only thing that I had recently done was to install the beta version of Malwarebytes anti-ransomware (last night). The first thing that I did after getting these crashes was to uninstall that program. Unfortunately, that did not fix the problem (or was not the problem, I'm guessing). When I am logged into the standard user account I can run all day with no BSOD. I don't know any correlations between the admin account and the BSOD other than maybe there are some drivers it is looking for? Every time it crashes it says that it is collecting data before closing down. I went ahead and downloaded the dm_log_collector file and am submitting it.
I got 2 new computers with Windows 10. When I tried using one computer and somehow I just keyed my email and password and thereafter every time i start my computer i had to key in the password. I then wrongly deleted the administrator account. Now i cant restore the administrator account. I have tried everything suggested on the net. If I have to reinstall windows 10 to solve the problem
the error message says--onenote (office 2010) cannot fully register itself with windows desktop search because you dont have administrator permissions, to complete the registration, contact your system administrator and then repair the one note installation.
ive made sure i have administrative permissions, and attempted to "repair" one note install, from programs and features, but dont have administrative priviledges.
So I upgraded my Windows 7 to 10 a few weeks ago and have been loving it. Decided to upgrade my parents computer to it as well yesterday. When my mom wanted to play a Free Cell game they were asking me to log into a hotmail account. They only have an Aol email account. Figure I'd sign into mine really quick and that would be the last I'd heard of it. Unfortunately now the computer associates a random hotmail account of mine that I have lying around as their main "administrator" account. What's worse, now they need to use my password whenever they turn the computer now.
That's really silly How do I delete my administrator hotmail account from their computer? I don't want them to deal with having to remember a password for an account I rarely use myself. Its their computer, not mine.
I have a laptop with W10 installed, and I am giving it to my daughter. I would like to change the Admin details so that the laptop displays her name instead of my name on the start menu etc. How to do this?
As the subject line says, how can i get my sons account off his old computer that was upgraded to Windows 10 and change it to my parents info. We will be giving them my sons old computer.
I have purchased a laptop from a friend. Just prior to my purchase Windows 10 got loaded. The compter has one account which is an administrator account. I think that the same account information is used as a login to Microsoft. I would like to remove the account and substitute my own administrator account. How do I do that.
