Adobe Reader Was Unable To Become Default PDF Application?
Jan 7, 2016I read a lot of stuff on the internet and it seemed the prevailing solution for this problem is to go into Settings/System/Default Apps and then set the default according to the file extension.
Been there, done that, at least 5 times. And it still opens with Edge and changes the default back to Edge. Microsoft doesn't want you controlling anything, do they?
How do I change this and make Adobe Reader the default, once and for all?

Jan 26, 2016The issue is I have a network printer selected as the default in Windows 10. I have the option "Let Windows manage my default printer" turned off. At one point randomly, the default printer goes back to the Adobe PDF as the default.
Steps taken:
* I have checked the registry settings to ensure that the options "let Windows manage my default printer" is switched off. I can confirm this.
* Switched the default printer back to the network printer and performed a reboot. The network printer remains as the default. At some point of the day it goes back to Adobe PDF.

Aug 22, 2015How's that possible? Imagine a tablet (SP3 or whatever; mine is a Dell), Win10, two users. Both have chosen the Picture Password login. Nice.
First showstopper: At device turn on, the last accessed user login is present. No worries, it was so for 8.1 as well. But there was a back arrow to go back picking another one.
Here is not: Win10 Picture Password login has nothing. Niet. Nada. Only the picture. And some useless space on the left. You want to choose another user? Nein. You can't from there!
I tried different methods: swipes (what? In Win10? All gone, me fool!), pressing ESC (I've a connected keyboard), pressing my account image. nothing.
The only way? You must click to choose a different method of access (aka Text Password). From there there is the users-picker that let you choose another user.
Will Not Open PDF Or JPEG Files
Aug 3, 2015I upgraded to W10 this morning, and since then, although everything seems to be OK, it will not open any PDF or JPEG files. I get an error message for the JPEG something like, " illegal operation attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion"
For the PDF files it says, "invalid value for registry".
As all of my work files are in PDF format.

Text Files From Desktop Converted To JPEG
Mar 5, 2016All of a sudden all the folders and files (mainly text) on my desktop have disappeared.
After a long search I was able to find them in : usersuserAppDataRoamingAdobeBridgeCS4Cache256Desktop6E309C78.
All the files are saved as .jpg and they really are images, so changing the file extension does not bring them back to text.
Opening Files (JPEG / MOV) Times Out Since Last Update
Dec 13, 2015Since the latest windows 10 update a couple of days ago, I get time-outs when I try opening .jpegs .mov's and so on. About every third time I double click a file, the system just loads and after about 10 seconds I get a time-out message (in German: Der Wartevorgang wurde abgebrochen) and I am unable to view it.
I did several restarts, updated drivers but still same problem. as a filmmaker, this is very annoying to me!

JPEG Images Won't Open - Invalid Value For Registry
Jan 3, 2016Until two days ago all was fine but since earlier today, whenever I go to "pictures", select a folder and then click to open a file, I get the following error message..
J:DCIM100CANONIMG_7104.JPG Invalid value for registry"
I get the same message regardless of whether it's a new photo I've just uploaded or photos that have been on my PC for a long time.

Oct 24, 2015I'm trying to create some custom buttons for my PC using Rainmeter, and part of what I need is high resolution/quality icons from the programs I use. I notice that for quite a few programs, since I've set my icons to large, come up very nicely on my desktop, but I can't seem to find them of the same quality on the Internet. So, how can I take whatever file it is that creates this icon, and convert it into a high resolution jpeg or png file so I can edit it?

Sep 16, 2015Since upgrading from 7, none of my hard drives are listed. The entire category is missing, all I see are Folders. The drives are there and accessible if I explicitly navigate to them, such as "C:", in which case my path becomes: > This PC >SYSTEM (C:), and I can explore the drive. They are all properly listed in Disk Management, where I can choose to open an explorer folder on them. The ones configured as shared still appear on the network. But none of several internal and external drives are listed in This PC.

I've tried everything and nothing working, i even tried using the the Ethernet cable and it worked but as soon as I disconnect the cable it'll have no wifi access. It's not my wifi or router because My phone and other things connect and work fine. My network just won't show up on the list.

Aug 20, 2015Upgraded to Windows 10. I don't know what he did, but at the sign in screen, it has a yahoo account that does not exist. I tried resetting the info for that yahoo account but it says the account doesn't exist. He does know his correct yahoo account which is apparently linked to his MS account. I can't seem to find out how to remove the non-existent login account in order to get him signed in with his actual account. Everything I'm seeing involves ISO's, CD's, or bootable recovery drives none of which he would have. Is there a way to correct his sign in account considering we're unable to log into Windows to begin with because it's asking him to sign into an account he doesn't have?

Aug 20, 2015Upon starting windows (10) I'm constantly being shown the boot manager and the only OS I can choose from is windows 7. I am using W10 having upgraded from W7. Windows still boots but the startup times vary from 15sec to around 3min.

Saving A File To A Folder Listed In Quick Access
Feb 10, 2016When I download a pdf file (A billing statement in this case), I would like to select "Save As" and be able to select the folder directly from one of the folders shown in Quick Access that is shown in File Explorer without having to rummage through all the folders on my three drives. Right now, "Save As" causes the folder selection to start with My PC. Is there an easy way for the list of folders in Quick Access to be displayed when I select "Save As" to save the file? Starting in My PC makes me go through the mess of finding the folder in which I want to save the file.

BSOD :: Critical Process Died Error Listed
Dec 16, 2015Recently while using the internet my computer experienced a BSOD which listed the Critical Process Died as the error. Before this happened my computer kept popping up with a message I believe was saying that the display adapter driver crashed and then was recovered. It should also be mentioned that I recently upgraded my system with a new graphics card, after my old one died, and with a new case. That was my first time ever doing something like that, so I wouldn't be surprised if that could be a problem.

Sep 29, 2015I have an Acer Aspire E1-572 running Windows 10. The computer has an Elan smart pad drivers. I recently updated to windows 10 but after it was installed, my touchpad settings changed. I tried to change the settings to how they were before, now i can no longer adjust the sensativity or have the inertia " momentum" settings enabled. Those are no longer options listed on the driver settings.
I am disabled with limited mobiity and I rely on the ability to flick the mouse and have the cursor travel across the screen. Without these settings I am struggling to use the computer.
