I made the update today. Finally windows starts up, desktop appears but everything went very slow. I decided to make a restart. So far "so good".
After restart, after login screen, it has a black screen and nothing happens. If I move the mouse it will show it. The black screen remains. I try to go to safe mode, with shift + restart. Not working either. What can I do??
I did a bit of research and this seems to have been an issue for a while, or has been in the past. Was upgrading to windows 10, I first had to restart my pc cause it was initially stuck on that preparing to install problem with the green bar being stuck around 25%.
It then got through that and began the installation process with the big circle and rebooting process. However around 91% when I last looked at it it was just black screen, this stayed this way for about 3-4 hours. I then decided to reboot the pc and it has now booted to the login screen. Is this a known bug or could there be a possible issue?
The problem seems a bit different as some people I saw have had to fall back on PC restore points etc. So not sure if it installed or what could be the problem.
Also side note, I upgraded my pc when windows 10 first publically released, but rolled back because I had about 5min shutdown times.
So.. I screwed up.. I used a small program called something like Windows 10 Login Background Changer (something along those lines) and when I restarted my computer, it never reached the login screen. I can move the mouse and open Magnifier (was pushing random controls), but I don't know how to get past here.
Windows 10 loads and all good, after typing in password all good, programs load, then after 10 seconds black screen with mouse cursor active, if I run a command prompt and type in explorer.exe the desktop comes back for 10 seconds then back to black screen, I run a nviadia 460 GTX, I'm assuming theres some driver issue, have installed latest driver but same result.
I got updated to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1 yesterday, everything was as it should be, but today I got a new Driver Update from Nvidia for Specially for Windows 10 It installed fine and asked to restart so I did and it restarted like normal until It asks to type my password in after that, I get a Black screen after I type in my password it has the mouse pointer and Ctrl+Alt+Del works I tried to open task manager(to manually run file explorer.exe) but it won't work I have an acer laptop(E5-573G-76NF) and I don't have the Windows disk to access recovery options as windows 8.1 pre-installed so I can't Do a system restore.
I just bought this computer a few weeks ago and this problem has been persistent since I've gotten it. sometimes when I login, the screen is black or partially black, the rectangle for my pin is still visible however. My screen is touchscreen. I can "erase" the black with my finger and the normal login screen appear underneath. Inputting my pin is no problem and after login I don't see this problem anywhere else.
My hp 500-110et just sits there with a blue hp logo(changed crap as the windows logo). I noticed something, the "loading ring(the one which shows that windows is loading/booting/starting up)" isn't there from the start.
I ran disc repair, it said it would take more than a hoır, but it never finished, so I had to close it. I was just playing AC U, then it froze, so I had to shut my system down from the power button... After I started my pc... you know what happened.
So i tried updating my computer from windows 8 to 10 and last night and it froze at 75% and configuration settings 1%, i let it sit there all night but it still was at 75%. I had read that people where having the same problem and that itll revert to windows 8.1 after you reset it so i did. To my surprise it booted as windows 10 and allowed me to log in but after i logged in my computer black screened without a cursor. I reset it several times but the same problem kept occuring.
I upgraded a desktop computer from Windows 7 ultimate to Windows 10 and there seems to be an annoying black screen issue which happens before the login screen.
After the Windows loading logo, the screen stays black for about 60-80 seconds (and all I can see is the mouse cursor). After 60-80 seconds, the login screen pops up and everything works fine and I can login.
I already tried the following:
- Updated NVIDIA drivers - Completely removed NVIDIA drivers to see if it was a drivers problem - Booted into safe mode, still happens - Checked event viewer, nothing weird in the logs - Made the PCIE slot the default slot for the primary monitor in the BIOS - Ran the sfc /scannow command, no violations found - Ran all Windows updates - Took a look at the services and startup processes, nothing weird here - Turned fast boot off/on, no change - Full Malwarebytes scan, no infections found
I ran a xbootmgr trace log, here's the summary XML file: processSummary numProces - Pastebin.com
I'd like to keep the fresh installation option as a last resort.
Last night I set my lenovo y50 to update to windows 10 after I went to sleep. Now that I'm awake i get the windows 8 lockscreen but after I enter my pin I get a black screen with a cursor. I can open taskmanager, and I have gotten several error messages regarding ismagent.exe and sethc.exe.
Just upgraded my bro-in-law's HP Pavilion desktop from 8.1 to 10. It's got an AMD processor, but I don't know which one exactly...probably one of the lower level ones. It was a refurb from Fry's, purchased a couple of months ago. It was running 8.1 just fine.
The upgrade process to win 10 went smoothly, got the pretty picture and the standard login screen, entered login info and got a series of messages welcoming me to win 10 and that the system was being configured. Then a message that said the install was "taking a bit longer than usual" and to wait a while longer. Stayed on this for about 10 minutes, and then screen went black with a cursor. And it's been that way for the past two hours. Just leaving it for now hoping it will magically come up with the win 10 desktop, but so far no love.
I keep finding solutions for the issue with a black screen before login or after login and to use the task manager, but my problem is a little different.
I can log in using my pin, and press ctrl+alt+dlt to get the option to bring up the task manager. However, when i click it... no task manager pops up!
Yesterday my friend installed windows 10, but encounters an issue when logging in. He types in his password, but it says its invalid, he then clicks next, but then the screen goes black then reboots.
He has an HP Pavilion desktop.
Is there any way to revert back to windows 7, which he was previously on?
The black screen occurs before login screen. It happens randomly. I have to move the mouse (haven't tried pressing keyboard) and it will show the login screen and windows will continue normally. On my device driver it shows only 1 display adapter that is NVIDIA GTX 970. My motherboard is H87-PLUS and its specs shows that it does have an Integrated Graphics Processor.
Tried installing Intel Graphics Driver but just shows 'This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing this software.' Tried disabling the lock screen too but its not working. Tried putting PCI-E as the default graphics in BIOS but its not working either. how could I prevent the black screen from showing up again?
Alright so for some reason ever since I've "upgraded" to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1 I've been having numerous issues with my computer taking a very long time to boot and I've noticed it is logging me in sometimes without asking me for my password at boot. I really want to stop the black screens as waiting 5-10 minutes every time I turn my computer on is annoying. Also I don't see why it would log me in without prompting for my password as why else would I have a logon password?
I had Win 8.1 started 2h ago updating to Win 10. After update log in(first log in) was really long, but that is no problem. The problem is after the log in only black screen and cursors appears. I tried ctrl+alt+delete it works but wen i click on task manager it sends me back with message. Task Manager Stopped Responding.
I tried Restart,Safe Mode with internet connection,Safe Mode(it fails even in safe mode). I will now even try delete all my personal documents and setting maybe that will work (clean install). *Clean install worked* (hour 2 later)
Upgrading now video card driver i guess different drivers because diff. OS and DirectX( DirectX 12 i think ). But with clean installed Win 10 did not activated by it self (6 hours later). Went to activated manually by press of a button but failed for some reason have to now wait for tomorrow to talk to microsoft people.
A black box appears and quickly disappears while I am online, after installing windows 10. It appears on the left side of my screen. It causes sites that I am on to close, and will also make the things I am typing disappear.
When I restart my PC and get to the Windows loading screen (the one with circle that is spinning) after few seconds a black screens appeares for a moment and after that once again I see the spinning circle (loading screen). But this time the circle is lagging. After that I see wait a moment text and aftert that a I normally get to the Windows but it just simply takes a while. This happened to me out of nowhere (it used to boot normally until yesterday). I reinstalled OS and I have got still the same problem. I chcecked my HDD with HDD regenerator and it showed no bad sectors or delays.
Running Windows 10 Home. Build 10240. When I start the system the screen is black. When I go into File Explorer and click on Desktop all of the items appear there. I can click on say e-mail and I can get into mail and read or answer them.
could I use mct and get the latest there and then do an upgrade which should keep all of my data and files. I originally did the upgrade from Windows 7 Home and that all went well.
I just upgraded to Windows 10 and the entire screen appears to be stretched horizontally, i.e. both texte and pictures are stretched in the horizontal direction. I tried every screen resolution and the same problem exists for each. I have a 64 bit machine.
On W8.1, it'd appear on just about every blank box I'd touch with my finger. Now it almost never appears, for anything. Is this supposed to happen, or is it a bug?
After updating to Windows 10 turned my computer ont his morning and signed in. Now desktop screen appears but keeps blacking out and reloading. Unable to open anything and tried rebooting, still happening.
Everything has been working great until very recently. After the Cumulative update my computer has been going into the "Recovery" screen when the computer tries to go to sleep. The problem with this is that my Bluetooth mouse and keyboard does not work at that time.
After connecting a USB mouse and keyboard, I selected to restore from a previous point (before the update). Though the system went through the motions, it stated that the restore was not successful. However when it booted back up, the system was restored to an earlier spot. System found updates and installed which started the loop again.
How to stop the machine from going into Recovery mode?
I have
Dell XPS8700 i7 processor 32 gb of memory 64 bit system 256gb Solid State Boot drive
1) I can boot into Windows 10 fine from a cold boot.
2) When the computer tries to sleep and I get the Recovery screen, I can select the option to reboot the computer and it boots up.
3) Normally I do not need to enter my password. After I reboot from Recovery screen, I have to enter a password.
4) Also if I use the keyboard to place the computer into sleep, it does NOT go to the Recovery screen but sleeps like it suppose to.
I activated W10 and played with it for a while and everything seemed ok - I restarted the computer a few days later and the problem above began - the screen goes blank for a split second right after the taskbar items appear and then the desktop appears again - and this goes on and on - I can't access any application
