After Update Pictures Are Missing - How To Get These Back
Dec 30, 2015
I know I know don't say I should have backed up my computer. Recently I performed a Windows 10 update. However all my files went missing. With a little bit of searching I found my documents and videos from my old windows 7 in the C: drive and in the user folder but my pictures are still missing. I know they're still on my computer because they couldn't have gone anywhere unless I deleted them.
So, I had a sample pictures folder in my pictures and I had more picture folders within the folder and then I updated from Windows 7 to Windows 10, without backing anything up. And after the update I couldn't find those pictures at all and now I'm freaking out big time. How do I get those pictures back from that sample picture folder.
for some reason Cortana has dissapeared from my desktop computer I cannot find any way to bring it back, it is just no longer there. I have posted this on the Microsoft community but have no useful answers.
I've got a little (really little) problem with my surface pro 3.
I don't have the option 'screen rotation" in my action center any more... It's not a big deal because I can still use that function by using the shortcut windows + 0 but it's missing and sometimes annoying to go plug the keyboard just to use that function...
I guess I should be able to turn it back on by changing something in the regedit...
The latest update changed a lot of my settings, like my mouse sensitivity, along with resetting my background to its default image and resetting my task bar to default. My biggest issue is that it deleted all my pictures in the "Pictures" folder. if they put them in the cloud? Or am I just fucked and have to go down to the head developers house and chuck eggs at it.
so i installed windows 10 this morning and it went through the steps and got to a point in the install that says "Hi there, welcome back!" with a "next" button in the bottom right of the screen. When i click it nothing happens. If i click on the screen after about a minute it goes lighter blue and then reboots back to the very same screen.
I have removed it numerous times by uninstalling the KB3035583 update but it keeps coming back like a bad penny. I made the decision last year to go with Apple when this PC dies but things like this make think I shouldn't wait. I just can't afford toi do it right now. Is there a way to get this damn popup out of my system?
I just updated to windows 10 and when I first started up my computer my files were there, just moved to a different folder(i had to access them through C:/users) I then restarted my computer and now all of files that were on my desktop, downloads folder, pictures, and music folder have all disappeared. Searching for them using Cortana gives no results. Is there anyway I can get them back? Should I try restoring my system to Windows 7?
I upgraded this morning, loved it except no multi monitor. came home from work downloaded the latest nvida drivers for windows 10 still not multi monitor. The biggest issue, most of my folders on my D: drive (2 Mirrored drives) were gone... All my pics, music, etc.. so I had to uninstall Windows 10.
Now I have a D: and a G: drive with various folders in each from my previous Window 7 D: drive.. I think Win10 broke my mirror. at least I got all my files back.
I noticed this morning, when I was trying to correlate a problem I was having with Quicken, that my update history is missing from Settings. View your Update History. I realize that I can see it in Control Panel Programs. Programs and Features Installed Updates but I am curious if there is a way that I can bring this info back to Settings.
After a recent update , many of my applications show blank files or default application icons. This includes Skype, Office and VLC media player; as of yet I am unable to find what links these applications:

I didn't have this subkey in the registry, so I couldn't delete it.Icon Cache - Rebuild in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums This did not do anything either.
I updated to windows 10 and I couldn't find any of my files. Eventually found them moved in a folder. Once I restarted my computer, all of the files were gone and I had more storage on my computer. These are files as in music, movies, and pictures. They are NO WHERE to be found.
After recent update the Edge box is missing when starting windows10. I can still access Edge from frequently used line but I have this hole in the blue boxes that appear.
I have updated to windows 10 automatic update , Every thing working fine except network adapter. Network adapter is missing , i can see realtek device in device manager, Mine is Dell CPU.
Few weeks ago I have upgraded to Windows 10 TH2. After some time I have noticed that Windows Feedback app went missing, and I can't find a way to install it back. I tried searching for it at the store, it's not there.
I have tried Powershell command where it re-installs all other Windows 10 apps, however that only makes things worse - it deletes some other apps like Windows Store, and won't install them back anymore, giving me bunch of red error lines. I had to run a restore backup once, just to restore most of the apps. I did it successfully but Windows Feedback App is still missing.
Is it supposed to be like that or what? Because on my main home PC, I did the upgrade too, and and the app is there, all fine, but not on the laptop. Is there a manual way to install this one app somehow?
My Win 10 Update function is not working at all. There are over 100 updates saying "Waiting for Download." The progress bar stays at 0%, even when there is nothing else running at all.
I ran WindowsUpdateDiagnostic, and it said "service registration is missing or corrupt." It won't say which service it's talking about.
I ran SPF /scannow and it said no integrity violations.
I ran DISM /scanhealth, /checkhealth, and /restorehealth, and they said "no component store corruption detected" and "restore operation completed successfully."
I did all the steps in "Reset Windows Update Components" and they all completed successfully, but nothing changed except that the list of updates disappeared (they all reappeared as soon as I clicked on 'Updates are available).
A search on "service registration is missing or corrupt" shows that this is a common problem. The only advice that I haven't tried is to re-install Windows 10. I don't want to have to re-install MS Office, Kaspersky, etc.
I updated to Windows 10 a week or so ago, and since then I've noticed that I no longer seem to have a right-hand click menu function: on Chrome/Explorer, it opens the link I'm clicking on in another tab or window, but on everything else either nothing at all happens or the scrolling arrows appear. why this is, and how to get it back?
(to be clear: I'm talking about the menu that has copy/paste/select all etc on standard programs, or thesaurus/font etc on Microsoft Word.)
So far, things have been ok with my Windows 10 update. Today I tried to look for updates, as I think this is the regular Patch Tuesday. However, it takes a long time, then gives me the error in the title. Using the update fixer doesn't work, I just get the "Service Registry is Missing or Corrupt". What would be causing that?
I'm also getting a problem with task host not wanting to allow shutdown, what's the deal there?
the go back button on edge doesn't seem to have the ability to, when you click and hold on it, see many of the previous pages, so you can go back more than one page per click.
I was running Windows 7 and upgraded to Windows 10. I lost no data or programs or pictures, etc. Windows 10 worked fine for about a month and then developed a "restart required" loop. After several attempts I tried the Recovery option, thinking it would take me back to a restore point as in Windows 7. Instead it took me back to Windows 7 and all data and programs (other than the Windows 7 default programs) are gone. How can I get back to either 7 with my data and programs or 10 with my data and programs?
