View 5 Repliesso..i had w7, and today i found that w10 free update was available
downloaded it, installed it using express settings...it didn't do a clean install cause all my files are still there
w10 works fine, is fast, but for some reason i cant open the settings app
i try opening trough the start menu, and it opens and immediately closes i try opening the app trough the new action center all settings ..and the same..it opens and immediately closes also, when i right click on the wallpaper and click on the personalize item it also opens the settings app, immediately closes and a window pops up saying: THIS FILE DOES NOT HAVE A PROGRAM ASSOCIATED WITH IT.
since i had w7, now in w10 i have to register my MS account, but i cant because i cant get the settings app to open
I can't open any photo files, it says they have the wrong file name. I had to update windows 10 because word stopped working ( I had already updated to Windows 10 from Windows 8, thinking it can't be worse than Windows 8 - but I was wrong about that.)
Word 13 stopped working a few days ago, and a computer techician tried to identify what was wrong. After checking various things he reinstalled Windows 10. Now I can't open any photo files, it says they have the wrong file name. I could always open the photos before. How can I view and edit my photos as I could before ?
Also is this problem with Word 13 continually jamming and stopping working also due to some windows 10 issue, or is it a virus ?

View 1 RepliesMy laptop has a Atheros AR9002-1AB wireless network adaptor and, since updating to Windows 10 its showing as a fault and I can't connect to my wifi.

View 1 RepliesI recently switched over to Windows 10 and the first issue I had was my graphics driver becoming non compatible, but this was fixed when I flashed my BIOS for my computer to the most recent release.
Everything went smooth for a few weeks, but now I can't connect to the internet due to a common problem with Windows 10.
I want to go back to 8.1, but wanted to make sure my current BIOS wasn't going to crash on me ...
Does the BIOS will still support 8.1 ...
When I first installed windows 10 pro. I used Microsoft's create install media tool and saved to USB. Now as we are regularly getting cumulative updates from Microsoft does the install media get updated as well?
I mean if I re create the install media Windows 10 would it have all the cumulative updates in it?
Just updated to the latest build. Windows 10 build 10547. It makes it to the lock screen, and I can slide the picture up, but it won't let me put my PIN in. I can't click any icons in the bottom right corner, and when I do click, the picture is just above my cursor like I am sliding it up again.

View 10 RepliesA few days ago I updated my HP Envy laptop from Windows 8 to Windows 10. I used to be able to close the lid and the computer would enter sleep mode, and come out of it when I opened the lid. After updating, it now goes into hibernation mode when I close the lid. In the Sleep and Power Settings, the only options available for me to choose for when I close the laptop lid are "Do Nothing," "Hibernate," and "Shut Down."
Following recommendations for similar issues, I updated the driver for my display adapter. Unfortunately, this hasn't changed anything. I've noticed, however, that in the Device Manager, the symbol next to the Intel(R) HD Graphics Family has a little exclamation point in a yellow triangle. Under the display adapter Device status it reads "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"
In addition to finding no mention of sleep mode anywhere on my computer, I'm now unable to change the screen brightness by any means. I read somewhere that I can allow sleep mode by changing something related to the BIOS? This sounds complicated.
I changed the default fonts and icons size to 125% which run smooth on win 7 but on 10 there is a huge difference.
I have tried a solutions posted here and here but the fonts looks just horrible.
Icons and files names look ok , as well as some menus but rest of the system fonts as you are just bad.
I am on 27" Monitor Gforce Gtx 970.
Here is video in case the images dont show the difference, pay attention to network adapter icons and the properties window.

I just updated my PC to windows 10 and now I'm not getting any sound from my HDMI connected TV. Picture is working fine and have tried as many solutions as i could find. I've restarted, tried a new HDMI cable and used different ports, I've tried to update drivers but there are no updates, tried restarting the Windows Audio service, and so on. Sound still works with my headset just not through HDMI.

View 1 RepliesI just installed Windows 10 and have got a problem that has me stumped. I have two GPUs, an EVGA GTX 760 as my primary and a GTX 560 Ti running a second monitor. The 760 had no issues in the upgrade, but no matter what I do to the 560, it shows up in device manager as Code 43. I'm trying to gauge if it's an issue with the fact I have two dissimilar GPUs or a bit of software not liking that particular card. My gut says software, but I don't know exactly what. I've done some googling to the effect and seems to be I'm not the only one with troubles but didn't find a fix that worked.I don't want to roll back just yet and my 760 can pick up the slack easily, so if there's a fix on the horizon I can wait. Otherwise, I'll have to check my options.

I just cloned my ssd onto another ssd twice its size however windows reports the size as the same, and in partition manager from windows it wont allow me to expand only shrink the size.
The disk size in part manager is also the same size as the original drive.
- I am using some email accounts from the same Internet service provider
- the accounts are configured apparently with the same settings
- one accounts gets through and works correctly, reading and sending emails
- the other accounts don't read, nor send
+ wrong accounts keep asking to "correct account", because "outlook mail settings of account aren't updated"
+ this happens both in Win10 Desktop and mobile.
+ the "correction" asks the password, then does nothing
+ the issue repeats at every sync, with no sync
I just upgraded to windows 10 from windows 7, I have a ASUS G75vw.
Well i guess to sum it up as soon as I updated the software my audio and video playback doesn't work anymore. For example iTunes tells me "iTunes has detected a problem with your audio configuration, Audio/Video playback might not function" how to fix it?

View 1 RepliesQuite often (60% of the time) clicking on Windows Explorer results in no action whether from the tool bar or from the Windows screen for a very long period of time. There is nothing showing to determine if there is a background program causing Explorer to wait. When it eventually opens, more than one screen comes up because the impatient among us have clicked more than once (personal problem). I often start by going to Explorer for a file I was working on so this is a real pain.
