View 1 RepliesSo I got a new asus M5a97 for a new socket and whatnot and now when I shut down there are 2 issues (title bar not long enough for both). The first is whenever you shut it down it leaves all usb ports powered.
The second is that every second time you try to boot it goes to the asus screen where there's meant to be the little circle made of dots spinning and no circle appears nothing happens. Hardware all seems fine so not sure what needs changing.
I would like to know wether I should download the free upgrade of windows 10 before or after I choose to upgrade my mobo and cpu.
I will be upgrading the mobo and cpu in September, as far as I'm aware, using my oem code I can continue to use 8.1 without another os purchase.
My question is: Will I be able to do the same with Windows 10, or should I wait until I have upgraded my hardware and then upgrade to 10.
I have my serial key and an install ISO saved on a USB, my question is when I install my new motherboard and processor, will I have an option to completely wipe the computer for the fresh install of windows with none of my previous saved memory. Essentially factory resetting but just with windows and drivers.
I've never done an upgrade like this before and I know you can boot and download the graphics drivers and such, but how do I get about wiping all the memory?
I recently bought a toshiba satellite c-55 laptop, as soon as i got it i upgraded to windows ten. i do not know if the usb ports worked before my upgrade, but they do not work now. i tried to download drivers but nothing has worked.
I know i have power to the usb's because my usb hub lights up when i plug it in. the device manager says the usb's are working but they are not. Is there a way to see if it is a hardware problem?
How do I set a Windows 10 pc to see all drives, incl USBs? I'm on a new Dell laptop.
View 2 RepliesI just reset my pc and did a clean install of windows 10. I have a maximus vi hero mobo and for the management interface driver the mobo's site has v11.0.0.1155 but windows already has it installed for v11.0.0.1157 Should I use the latest version that has auto installed or is the one on the asus website better for me? Is it more specific to my board since its from the mobo's site?
View 1 RepliesI have 3 flash drives that, for some reason, no longer function regardless of which USB port they are attached to. They display as if they are ready but indicate "not responding" as soon as I try to access them. I see message "not migrating" under Events in their properties. This is a problem that has just arisen. I've been running Windows 10 since official release.

View 1 Repliesfew days ago I installed Windows 10 pro from Windows 7 ultimate. Since installation of Windows 10 my keyboard and mouse remain powered after shut down PC(lights on). I have never had this issue before on W7.
View 1 RepliesI have seen this for a long time and just usually stick to the normal audio ports for everything but it has bothered me for a while. What are the sound plugs on the back of my motherboard for? They are colored as Black and Orange on the top and on the Bottom, Pink, Green and Blue. I was thinking of getting a surround sound system and have yet to find one that has plugs for these so what are they for and is there any surround systems
View 2 RepliesI today swapped from my AMD 8370 to an Intel Xeon 1231v3 and now when I'm trying to activate windows I get error with code: 0x8007232B. Do I need to reinstall windows or buy a new key what to activate with?

Tried the advice in this text. It lasted only until my last update. Then it was back to dual entries again.
Would like a permanent solution. Maybe a .reg?
I activated the ctrl alt disable login screen for Windows 10 by using this registry key from this forum.(Lock Screen - Enable or Disable in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums).
I downloaded and installed the key to disable only to find it didn't work so I tried to manually do it by changing the number from 0 to 1 only to find its already at 1.
I also tried going the user passwords2 to find the box to disable ctrl alt disable login is already ticked, but is greyed out meaning I can't untick the box.
Every time I start up or wake up my laptop it asks me to enter my pin number, my husband also has a dell laptop running windows 10 but his does not need any pin to enable using it, how can I disable requirement for pin.
View 2 RepliesI just replace my old keyboard. The problem with the new keyboard is I need to press the FN button + the function key (like volume up and down) before the function key will work. On my old keyboard the functions could be performed by only pressing the function key. There was no need to also press FN.
Is there a way to disable the FN key so I can go back to one button function key operations?
I am trying to disable OneDrive & every time I type in "gpedit.msc" I get a message that Windows can't find it. Surely there has to be a way to disable it isn't there.
View 7 RepliesI tried Windows 10, but I would like to stay with Windows 8.1 until some crucial issues have been taken care of.
The issue is that I get a Windows 10 update pop up every time I start my tablet.
I do have automatic Windows update enabled; and would like to keep it on since I do want to receive other windows 8.1 updates.
My internal keyboard went crazy after i spilled something on it and i was using an external keyboard disabling the internal one...But then i upgraded my computer to Windows 10...Now i can't see my internal keyboard on device manager so i can't disable it..how to disable my internal laptop keyboard on Windows 10?
View 1 RepliesHow can I retrieve it or is it lost for good.
View 1 RepliesI'm having some hard times with my pc after installing windows 10...I used to have windows 8.1 and everything was fine. Since I downloaded 10:
-it's no more possible for me to restart my pc: it stops during the process.
-programs behave weirdly: adobe is going mad, it's no more possible to close skype when I don't need it, and other minor issues.
Now, I tried to go back to Windows8.1, I tried to reset the pc, BUT OF COURSE I CAN'T BECAUSE THE RESTART OPTION DOESN'T WORK!!!
Since upgrading to windows 10 I cannot scroll
View 1 RepliesQuite simply after updating to Windows 10 I've have had no sound on my computer for months now and don't know what to do. I've updated drivers like 12 times and I still don't get any sound and it's annoying having to put headphones in all the time. I have an Alienware and the crappy part is that I'd only had it a couple weeks before it happened. It happend right after the update so I'm guessing it has to do with something on the OS.
View 2 RepliesI have a windows 7pro system that I have used for about 3 years. A fairly substantial mix of software installed over time has predictably slowed down performance enough that a clean OS install is in order. I also have a SSD I would like to install as the primary C drive as well as the update to windows 10.
There are two ways to go about this, and am not sure which is the most reliable or cleanest way.
a) I can install the SSD then reinstall win7, and 3 years worth of OS patches. Wait around until Microsoft notifies me of availability of windows 10, install windows 10 and then install all the application software.
b) I could upgrade to windows 10 get a license key(?). Then install the SSD, next reinstall windows 10 and finally all the application software.
like I said - NO audio
View 1 RepliesI am going to switch out most of the components besides RAM, HDD, and CD-ROM. I have been informed that an OEM version of Windows is tied to the motherboard, but I need to switch out the motherboard. I understand that I need to purchase a retail version of Windows 10.
My question is how do I replace the old OS (Windows 8 upgraded to Windows 10) with a retail version? I am going to be keeping the HDD, so how exactly would I go about replacing the current OS on my HDD?
