View 1 RepliesI upgraded this morning, loved it except no multi monitor. came home from work downloaded the latest nvida drivers for windows 10 still not multi monitor. The biggest issue, most of my folders on my D: drive (2 Mirrored drives) were gone... All my pics, music, etc.. so I had to uninstall Windows 10.
Now I have a D: and a G: drive with various folders in each from my previous Window 7 D: drive.. I think Win10 broke my mirror. at least I got all my files back.
sometimes i get stuck with a error that it cant delete a folder because of too long filename or it says it's in use when infact it isn't is there some nice tool for this?
View 5 RepliesHere's one I have never run across before.
New user to W10 on a new Dell 8900. All seems fine, but...I have a bunch of Folders, documents and shortcuts that I tried to Delete. Put them all in the Recycle Bin.
No longer on Desktop.
Emptied the Recycle Bin.
All gone from Recycle Bin; Recycle Bin is totally clean. So is Desktop. But after a few hours, they all reappear on Desktop !
How can I delete them "permanently" ?
I did the disc clean up to get rid of the windows.old (twice) but it has still left the folder windows with EN-GB, FONTS, SERVICING, SYSTEM32, SYSTEMAPPS AND WINSXS. These contain all the DLL's as i have already had to do a reinstall I don't wish to again so am I stuck with them there. So far all seems to be working so am I better off just leaving alone or is there a way to delete them?
View 9 RepliesLately when I try to use the Microsoft Print to PDF feature in Windows 10, it is unable to save to any Dropbox folder. It creates the file but it is 0 size. I can print in any folder other than Dropbox. I can print it to my desktop then copy the resulting file to Dropbox, but unable to print directly.
This had worked in the past, but just noticed it within the last few days.
There is no error that shows up to let you know it failed either. So unless you try to open the file, or notice the 0 file size you will assume it printed ok.
This also occurs with the printer "Microsoft XPS Document Writer" so it is not just the PDF.
This only occurs with my user account. 2 other accounts on the same machine do not have the same issue. So probably permissions issue somewhere?
I was downloading an app that i know is safe but the last time i downloaded it was with Win 7 , this time with Win 10 i get the below message , should i have this installed and if i do i am kind of wondering why the Win 10 ISO missed it .
View 2 RepliesMy friend have perched a copy of MS Office, but he can not download it because Microsoft account is asking for the password to the old windows account. The windows account was made 10-12 years ago and the password is forgotten.
View 5 RepliesI upgraded to Windows 10 last week. I had folders and some files missing right away. I went into the "Old Windows" folder and nothing was there. Also, I couldn't go back to Windows 7 or a previous system restore because an error is all that would come up. Now, after shutting down my computer and restarting the next day, I'm missing folders. For example, I create a folder I title "Edit" for images to work on everyday (I'm a photographer), and the folder is completely missing.
View 1 RepliesUsually, when you right-clock the "file explorer" all the last used folders are showing on-top of it (right circle on image/attachment), I thought ihe bug would just go away but after 1 week it's annoying as ever
View 3 RepliesSince I installed windows10 i noticed that not all of the user's folders are available in the user folder, What i can only find is (Contacts, Favorites, Links, Saved Games, Searches), In order to be able to see the full folders list i have to go the full dir (C:UsersUser Name).

View 1 RepliesWe all know that IE, Firefox, etc have the option to copy the download link of an ongoing download job. But it seems Microsoft had something really great in mind and has apparently removed that feature from Microsoft Edge I wonder wheres the 'Edge'??
how to bring back the useful 'copy download link' option of an ongoing download link in Edge?
I just got my hands on a new UX305 from ASUS and it's working wonderfully. However, I wanted to change the icons for the Desktop, Downloads, Music, etc. folders in Quick access in File Explorer. I was able to do it on my main rig, but there is no customize tab for most of the folders in quick access, and those that do still don't allow me to change the icon.
View 1 RepliesI've disabled automatic updates (drivers, Win updates) by making changes to Win 10. Now every entry in Update History is listed as a failed update. Of course, no update has failed; I don't want to install them yet. Is there a way to delete failed update entries?

View 10 RepliesI recently changed my microsoft password. After a reset, after entering the PIN, i was greeted with the message: " username or password is incorrect".I changed it to log on with my new password and it worked perfectly.
If i enter a different PIN: " the PIN is incorrect"
It is worth mentioning that i changed my PIN several times but with no result.
I upgraded from Win 7 to Win 10 this past week. All is well except for one thing. I received an update from Microsoft yesterday (Cumulative Update for Win 10 - KB3081424) and noted during the installation that no restore point was created. System Protection is ON and I am able to create restore points manually. Thus, this is only a minor annoyance since I can successfully create these points on my own. However, I would prefer for the system to do so when important updates from Microsoft come down. I guess it is possible that the update referenced above did not generate such a point but found that unusual since it is listed as a Cumulative Update.
View 4 RepliesSo my Surface 3 updated itself yesterday, and when I woke up today the majority of the icons I had pinned to my taskbar and my start menu are gone. I've been able to find and pin programmes like "Weather" back to the start menu, but others have completely disappeared, most frustrating of all is Edge.
I can open Edge if I open Cortana and select a news item. When I do that Edge opens full screen, but doesn't deposit an icon on the task bar, so I can't select it. Also, when I swipe in from the left or choose Task View, Edge does not show as an available programme. Changing in and out of tablet mode does nothing.
Also, my PC is just fine.
I noticed this morning, when I was trying to correlate a problem I was having with Quicken, that my update history is missing from Settings. View your Update History. I realize that I can see it in Control Panel Programs. Programs and Features Installed Updates but I am curious if there is a way that I can bring this info back to Settings.

I know I know don't say I should have backed up my computer. Recently I performed a Windows 10 update. However all my files went missing. With a little bit of searching I found my documents and videos from my old windows 7 in the C: drive and in the user folder but my pictures are still missing. I know they're still on my computer because they couldn't have gone anywhere unless I deleted them.
View 1 RepliesI updated to windows 10 and I couldn't find any of my files. Eventually found them moved in a folder. Once I restarted my computer, all of the files were gone and I had more storage on my computer. These are files as in music, movies, and pictures. They are NO WHERE to be found.
View 2 RepliesAs I encounter problems with my Lan driver Realtek and Windows 10 Pro 64, somone on the forum said me to download the last version from Microsoft update catalog which seems the good one.
So I downloaded the driver but it is a .cab file. When I unpacked the files I obtain four files : a .cat file, a .inf file, a .sys file and a .DLL file. There is no setup.exe file....
I tried to install the driver using the command "HDWWIZ". It sees the .inf file but noting installs..
