All the app icons have disappeared from my desktop, as well as task bar and file Explorer. Where the icon should be is just a blank (but clickable) space.
I tried to manually alter the app icon by right clicking and going into properties, but no properties will open!
My desktop icons have disappeared, the text associated with the icons is still present, the graphic images are missing. Clicking on the text still activates the application.
View 1 RepliesAfter a driver (I think one related to Intel graphics, but i am not shure) was unsuccesfully installed, I had a BSOD problem, hard restart, kernel error message (unable to reproduce it afterward). Some applications from taskbar partially work (Office, Skype), some not. I am unable to open the Start menu (but the right click still works). The Edge disapeared, I post from anothe PC. Restarted a few times, tried to restore to a previous backup of drivers - nothing works.
View 1 RepliesTwo days ago I woke up to this problem, my icon pictures are gone and I can't access properties when I right click anything. So, night before everything was fine, PC went to sleep mode, next morning i get up wake PC from sleep mode and the problem i mentioned was there. Some of the icons i used are custom and some default, so the problem is not in one of those 2 things, and since i cant access properties i figure it is some deeper issue than just icon's picture missing.

It started to happen yesterday, and when I "Right Click -> Properties" in any icon, nothing shows up. I tested with every other right click menu's options and they worked fine.
View 4 RepliesWhen I upgraded to windows 10, all the icon images of my pictures are now a white slide with a blue mountain-like thing on it. I can't tell what I am looking at without opening them up. I use to be able to know what they all were before I opened them.
View 1 RepliesI've been fighting properties window since I installed window 10... I use this function a lot. The problem is the properties window opens in the background. So I have to minimize all the windows I have open to see the properties window. The weird thing is the properties window is the only one that does that, When I open a new window of anything it opens in the forground. Is there a way to force the properties window open in the forground.

Icons I want to change include BitDefender, Chrome, and OpenVPN to make them better fit the new Windows 10 icon theme. The white icon in the top right corner is one that I was successfully able to change. The program is Vuze Bittorrent client --> The Vuse wiki actually tells the location of the .png image file --> [URL]....
For BitDefener, I found the folder where the .png files are located and I was able to overwrite them to white icons that would match my Windows 10 theme.

However, the icon in the system tray stays the same (ugly red B). I am sure there is something else I need to do seeing as BitDefender is a security application in which I am sure makes it hard to tamper with it's files.
How I can change these icon images? or know of a tool that allows you to change the program's system tray image?
Although it shows the images, windows can not open images on my laptop.

I am having some problems with Windows10 Pro. I have downloaed it from a website and upgraded from windows 7 ultimate.
PC is lagging. When I open a Images Folder/Drive It become very slow. It takes too much to open a file or folder.
And, Im unable to copy anything. It is showing obytes/s or sometimes only some bites like 27, 333, something.
I wanted to upgrade to Windows 10, my computer was already verified as compatible, and was there yesterday but today has disappeared.

I upgraded to Windows 10 recently, and I've noticed something strange happening. When I boot up my computer, the desktop looks fine, but after a while, the little arrow overlays at the bottom left corner of the shortcut icons disappear. Sometimes, if left long enough, the overlay will be some weird picture (Instead of an arrow, it will be a batman picture, like from the shortcut to my Batman: Arkham Asylum games, or something else.) When I right-click on the desktop and hit refresh, it reverts back to normal, but I still want to know why it is doing this. My previous OS was Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

In the previous versions of Windows it was possible to select multiple pictures in a folder and when I hit enter, it opened a single instance of Photo Viewer. Then I could go left or right and it only showed me the pictures I selected. In Windows 10 however, selecting multiple pictures and hitting enter opens up multiple instances of Photo Viewer.
View 8 RepliesAfter I updated to the latest Windows 10 "upgrade" (Build 1511, 10586) released yesterday thru Windows Update, my system shows only the Wi-Fi icon on Taskbar instead of the Ethernet Network icon which it used to display earlier. I have a wired broadband connection, and keep my Wi-Fi Adapter settings "Disabled". Yet, the icon shows the Aeroplane mode of Wi-Fi icon on Taskbar, instead of the Network icon it used to display before this update. At times my wired BB connection tends to become unstable, so I need to keep track if the connection is down, before I do some critical activity on Internet, like large download (which I may be unable to Resume), or Netbanking or online shopping, etc. How do I get the Network icon instead of the Wi-Fi icon on the Taskbar in the new Build 1511 ?

Any image that I try to open on my computer will not open and I get the error "The data area passed to a system call is too small" what that means. I had a chat session with Microsoft to no avail.

Some other apps like Adobe Reader touch, Mail & Calendar, Calculator and many more are also not opening. When I connect the PC to Internet it works and all apps open but with a delay.
View 3 RepliesI'd like to have the Microsoft Edge Icon on the taskbar again as the only way to access it at the moment is using the search field at the far left of the taskbar running along the bottom of the screen and for some reason this doesn't respect the settings I have. In particular, it searches using Bing rather than Google (in the settings I have specified that it should use Google).
How to create an icon for Edge on the taskbar?
We use a lot of VPN PPTP Connections. On most we turn off "Use default gateway on remote network". See the image below that shows where this setting is turned off.
We cannot open the properties for Internet Protocol Version 4 on VPN connections under Windows 10. This is located at Network Connections and Properties of a VPN Connection. Networking Tab, then select Internet Protocol Version 4 and click Properties. But under Win 10 the properties dialog does not open.
This has been tested on several Windows 10 systems and we have enabled Administrator and tested under that login as well.
Strange, my start menu left click that used to open the coloured start menu with 'tiles' has stopped working. I can only right click to access the 'grey' listing. If I do left click I see the blue spinning wheel for a couple of seconds but nothing appears.
Also the icon for 'New Notifications' has stopped as well, when clicked I used to see a slide out popup asking me if I would recommend W10 to a friend but not now. If I right click to 'Open Action Centre' nothing happens.
