View 1 RepliesI upgraded to windows 10 and downloaded windows live mail, it works, but when I download new emails it deletes all old and unread emails.
Yesterday I turned on sync as suggested, then I downloaded 10 new emails, I opened 5 and left 5 unopened. This morning I downloaded my emails, as before all previous emails downloaded yesterday disappeared.
I was just creating a folder on my C drive (SSD) when I noticed that the attribute is set to read-only. I've tried clearing the attribute many ways using the link below but to no avail. Right-clicking on the folder does not show the option to Take Ownership. how to correct it?
Remove read-only attribute from folder - Windows 8.1
I've made the switch to Windows 10 for about a week or so now. So far almost everything is working just as I wanted, except some sorting annoyances with File Explorer.
For unknown reasons, file sort settings for special folders like Desktop, Documents, Download are not saved. I always sort my files/folders by date (Descending: New above, old below) so that I can access to files that I use the most or recent downloaded file. The sort setting seem to work with all folders except the mentioned above. Moreover, the sorting for these folders seem to be random (not 100% sure). For instance, my Desktop would sort files and folders by Name, while my Download folder sorts file by Date (but ascending!).
In all.. those special folders are a mess! I have to move forward and backward non-stop between them as I work but their settings just keep resetting!
I should probably move my working folders to some other location and forget about it. But doing that mean I have to make changes for all my PCs so I'd like to explore a fix before making those changes.
Cannot see any emails in my folders pre-update. How can I retrieve them ? I recently upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 8 and appear to be missing emails. How can I retrieve them?
View 1 Repliesmy question is about Partitions in Windows 10.
I have three-
100MB (created from Windows 7, which I knew was needed for booting)
C Partition (Windows instllation)
450MB (created after upgrade)
So, do I still need the 100MB? and what is this new 450MB used for? Disk Management says that is empty. I don't want to delete anything for risk of making my system unbootable.
Got caught by this sneaky Windows 10 downloading to my laptop. This download created a new partition on my harddrive as a protected system drive. I have tried to take ownership of this new partition with no success, I have tried to restore to a previous date with no success - it fails. How I can remove this partition from my hdd?
View 1 RepliesI would like to upgrade to windows ten but i have a lot of files saved on my computer that i would like to keep. Will Windows save them when I upgrade?
View 2 RepliesMy hard drive shows 20 more GB of space but everything is gone that I used or saved on the computer. I did not back up everything since the info I read said I would not loose this information.
Is there any way to retrieve it or roll back the hard drive to Windows 7 and retrieve the data I lost?
After upgrade from W81 to W10, I have occasional Notepad, Thunderbird email, and PhotoPhilia crashes, no data saved. Occasionally the task does not crash but does disappear from the task bar (visible from Task Manager) though I can't get back into it.
I have not upgraded any of these products. I'd have assumed that Notepad, at least, would be current. I don't know how to find which build I am on.
It receives email just fine and will send a test email when you are in advanced settings but will any emails created just sit in outbox. The error comes up and says " 8x800ccc13 cannot connect to the network verify your network connection or modem" Which is working of course as I'm online
View 24 RepliesSince upgrading to Windows 10 I can't send e-mails from my HP Pavilion 15 laptop (64 bit) but I do receive them on both outlook and live mail but this problem does not effect my dell desktop (32bit) is this a windows problem or my laptop
View 2 RepliesI am receiving emails fine but they won't send ever since I installed windows 10
View 2 Repliesam i missing something or did we lose the ability to select all unread mail in the Mail app?
seemd like a backward step if true. are thelNning to address this? i sent feedbback already.
I'm using the simple Windows 10 mail app. Under "Accounts" I have an IMAP mail account and it has no indicator (no number) next to the account name indicating number of unread mails. That makes sense because I have no unread mail in that account. It's a gmail based account, and when I access via the web, there's no unread mail shown there either.
However, when I click on the account and I am looking under Folders, the Inbox items has a "1" indicating there's one unread mail note. I can't find any unread mail in the Inbox. I've closed the program and restarted it, and tried resyncing, but the indicator is still there.
where this "phantom" unread count comes from?
I am wondering if mail app shows unread count on live tile? I have 2 accounts setup but don't ever see a count.
View 4 RepliesI just clicked the Yes to do the automatic upgrade from Windows. The system said all of my files and folders would still be here when it was done. ALL OF MY DESKTOP FOLDERS ARE GONE... This had all of my family photos in them that I had just finished preparing in my Photoshop Program that is also No Longer on the computer.

I upgraded to windows 10 and all my email folders are gone. I had two folders that i moved emails i wanted to save
View 1 RepliesI upgraded from windows 7 to windows 10 over 4 days ago. After windows 10 was up, all the folders/files in my desktop were moved somewhere. I did a file search and moved them back to the desktop. I was on a general user admin account. Shortly after, I logged into my outlook account on windows 10. Could still see all the files/folders on my desktop.
But when I rebooted my pc for 1st time after upgrading to windows 10, all the desktop files/folders disappeared. File search could only find the icon links in ..../Recent folder. No physical files/folders exist for those icon links. Online MS techs had tried to look into my pc remotely but they could not find anything. One online tech suggested Office 365 could recover them since the files may be saved in Office app, but I used Office to search for the files with no success.
All other personal files/folders not saved on desktop are still OK. All was lost for the files/folders on desktop?

How I can regain access to the folders on my PC?
I discovered today that the new pictures folder that was created when the Windows 10 upgrade was done is not accessible to me and I am the only User and I am the administrator of the PC. When I open the security tab of folder properties it shows that I have all permissions but I still can't access the folder...

View 3 RepliesI have a windows 10 64 bit computer which was upgraded from windows 7. I tried to do a restore but it came up saying unable to complete. Since then I have been unable to boot to windows. HP screen comes on and I am able to access Bios and Boot menu but that's where it stops. HP diagnostic tool at start says everything passes. I wanted to try booting from disc. I have another machine but its running windows 10 32 bit. Any way of creating a 64 bit boot disc from my 32 bit machine.
View 9 RepliesI have just created a system image to disc, and I would like to know how I go about verifying that the disc is working. When I say disk it took 5 hrs and 19 disc's to finish.
