Antivirus :: Internet Security Program Off At Start-Up?
Oct 29, 2015
This is an upgrade install of Win 10 Pro x64.
When I start the system and after the desktop appears for a few minutes, I get an indication from the lower right portion of the screen that my anti-virus is off and I need to tap to turn it on.
Is this the normal way Win 10 handles Internet Security programs? I'm using ESET Smart Security 9.

I have a Toshiba laptop running on a 64-bit operating system with 101 GB free space.I have tried numerous times to update my windows 7 to windows 10 with the same result of a 32% freeze up.I have tried completing all updates for my current windows 7 and turning off my antivirus program before attempting the upgrade but have had the same result no matter what I do.

I have been using Bitdefender for many years, yet since the change it is no longer displayed. It is still in my list of installed programs. Do I need to disable the windows 10 anti virus option to get Bitdefender operating again?

Every time I switch on my PC, after about 5 minutes, I get this annoying notification (see picture) from my OS asking me to turn on the security center service; please, note that, on my PC, I am judge, jury and executioner, meaning I decide what stays on and off, at least I've always been so although now, with Windows 10, this has become somehow more difficult. So, yes, I have turned off the security center service because I don't need it and I don't want it! Furthermore.
Now. I've tried disabling every possible notification I could find under the notification menu and the security center one; I've Googled for a solution but I haven't found anything: apparently, everybody loves this service.
While I'm here, is it possible to obtain system privileges in Windows 10? I've tried the old trick with the cmd task but it doesn't work anymore: the cmd windows does open and with "system" as well but it's not interactive apparently.

I just recently updated to windows 10 and it seems I have a little bit of a security issue. After updating I saw that someone was controlling my PC and then opened notepad and started typing to me telling me I should get antivirus. I'm thinking of starting my PC without internet and installing an antivirus and running a scan.

Using windows 10 on a Surface 3. I've tried to download several programs from the internet using chrome and the explorer that comes with windows 10.
It will show were it downloads and says it is complete, but it will not open and run the program. It just disappears . I have went to downloads and tried to run it as administrator. Then it will pop up with a error code, Windows can not find the download make sure you typed the name correctly.
I'm not sure when this started, but when I first switched over I had to download iTunes 2 times which went through. Now nothing.

I reinstalled windows 10 pro fresh and now i cant install any program of the internet. I tried everything but it doesn't work. It always said that 'cant connect to download center' .
I remembered that i was able to install opera for some reason. That program and steam. Maybe it has something to do with my hard drive cause when I tried to install skype it didn't automatically set to my hard drive.

"Your internet security settings prevented one or more files from being opened".
First Disk Management doesn't work, now this?
My Windows 10 Experience is being top notch.
Been searching around and people say to reset IE, but Windows 10 doesn't have IE, I deleted some files from AppData like someone said to be able to reset Edge.
Same thing happens, I'm getting quite annoyed at this.
I can't use disk management as well:

I just purchased a new laptop with Windows 10.
After installing Norton 360 antivirus, Firefox says "server not found" when I try to go to a web page.
Network trouble shooter says There are "missing network protocols and socket registry entries".
I reinstalled my network adapters and reset the winsock catalog and int ip sadly this did not work.
I contacted Norton tech support and they remotely installed the newest version that is supposed to be compatible with Win 10 however , about 5 min after hanging up the same problems are back.

I upgraded from 7 to 10 (no problems) and all worked with the exception of Ad-Aware Pro (AA). Win10 disabled AA ( no problem). I can't tell you how many times I uninstalled/re-installed AA trying to get it to work. I have had numerous contacts with AA support and the AA forum, still nothing. I have always used Win firewall. I don't like putting all my eggs in one basket. When I try to turn on win firewall from the Control Panel iI get the message 'Security & Maintenance cannot turn on Win Firewall'. When I try to turn it on manually, nothing happens.
Right now I can live without AA. I can use Win Defender and Win Firewall, if it would work. I can wait for AA to figure out what is wrong with AA, I mean they only had 5/6 months to figure it out!how to correct the Win firewall issue.

The windows defender in my pc is disabled and isn't starting up. It just shows that the app is turned off and isnt monitoring your system. The windows security center is also disabled. I tried manually enabling it from the services app and it got enabled but it gets disabled after sometimes itself.
I have tried booting into safe mode to enable the defender but no luck. i alos dont have any other AV instaleed on my pc that might be clashing with my defender. I also did an integrity check using /sfc code in command prompt and it returned no errors.

I just upgrade to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1 two days ago. I installed Microsoft Office Home & Student 2013 last night. Office seems working fine. However, this morning I cannot start any program, such as Adobe Reader and Google Chrome. No error message. I even cannot uninstall the chrome from Control Panel!
Nothing changed. Only one thing I notice is that Microsoft Visual C++ 2005, 2008, 2010 Redistributables have been added automatically.

I have a program that came with an IP cam I use for remote viewing that will display the video in IE but not in Edge. The program correctly displays the internal parameter screens from the camera ie-resolution settings, alarm settings et-al. just not the video.
When I use Edge to view the camera directly by typing in the IP address I get the normal sign in screen from the camera and everything I would normally expect but no video image. Just a blank black screen within the camera software border. When I use IE the video is fine.
I have viewed the " How to Change Default Programs" article and it only shows how to force an IE start for "groups" of programs not a specific program.
Is there a way to force a SPECIFIC program to use IE in Windows 10 rather than Edge?

I want a program to start automatically on windows startup, Nothing needs to be done on the program I just want it to open up, can't see anything on the program's settings suggesting there is a way.
On task manager under the start up tab it says that it is enabled, although I have never seen it active even on the active programs list, I can't disable it either.
The program is Gigabyte OC Guru and I'm running windows 10. It's not urgent, just want it to start so the led on my gpu is the right colour.

I'm trying to create a batch file that should
- call another batch file
- start a program and then wait for the program to close
- call another batch file
My goal with this is to work around an issue in Windows 10 where the screensaver won't work when I have my game controllers connected. I already created two batch files where one of them enables my game controllers and the other one disables them. Both these batch files work just fine.
However I now want to create a third batch file that will do what listed above - first call the batch file that will enable my game controllers, then start my program which is an executable and then after I exited out of the program the batch file that will disable my game controllers should be called.
Here's what I've tried but this doesn't work, it will only run the first batch file enabling my game controllers.
Code:
"c:utilGame controllers - Enable.cmd"start "P:Program Files (x86)Lockheed MartinPrepar3D v2Prepar3D.exe""c:utilGame controllers - Disable.cmd"

When I click to start some programs, I get this AFS Error Info window. After clicking OK, I then get the UAC window. Except for the extra step, nothing goes wrong--it's just annoying. Sometimes programs requiring a UAC show this AFS error, sometimes not. What this is and how to stop it?
