A friend of mine brought his computer to me to see if I am able to clear an encrypted mess done by a virus. Is it possible to recover that encrypted data? I know it may be almost impossible due to the lack of private key but I have an app called rannohdecrypter (made by Kaspersky Labs I think) that it's able to decrypt files provided you have got any file in both encrypted/unencrypted form. How to proceed?
I have a usb that has been encrypted using bitlocker, I can connect this usb to my desktop and I can input the password and access the usb. However on my laptop and other computers, when I plug in the usb I do not get the prompt to input my password and instead just says that the drive is inaccessible. Both my laptop and my desktop are windows 10 and I have admin rights on both machines. On both machines I have not used bitlocker, how I can access my usb on normal machines and how I can open my usb on my desktop but not my laptop?
So, my Dad is going to purchase a new Windows Device for me (A bit late for XMas). My Dad also owns devices that have been infected be Viruses and other infections. If I connect to the Wi-Fi on my Windows Device, can Viruses and other infections infect my System through Wireless Networking?
How can you get a virus by just visiting a web page & not clicking anything? To top it off, I am using Firefox 64 bit. That suppose to provided better security.
Category: Trojan
Description: This program is dangerous and executes commands from an attacker.Recommended action: Remove this software immediately.
It was detected & removed by Microsoft security essentials in windows 7 but I will restore from back up & hope this doesn't happen again. I am beginning to dislike computers. Just because you visit a medical site you shouldn't get viruses. After restoring my image.I did a full system scan using MSE in windows 7 & Defender in Windows 10 nothing found.I also scanned with Malwarebytes also nothing found. Yes, I checked the root kit detector option. I know my restore image is clean.
I realise this problem would be similar regardless of which Windows being used. I partitioned my HD and moved documents to new partition. Mistakenly removed the partition without restoring files. Is there any way of recovering the lost files?
So in like 2014 I used to play a game and now I am playing it , I would like to get those 2014 files to get the older version of the game as in the file there will be a .fp file. I would like to get that .fp file of 2014 , Today I have the latest updated files of the game , Is there somehow I can get a very old version of the file so I can get that file to get the older version of the game? I tried right click on the .fp and click properties and prevous versions but i am only getting the game old file of 2015's summer. I really want that 2014 .fp file to play an older version of the game.
I was using Windows 8.1 then upgraded to Windows 10, but all of my personal files has deleted and I tried best of recovery programs and they're not worked for me. So, if I roll back to my previous version of Windows, does my personal files recoverd?
My windows 7. 32 bit laptop gave up the ghost and is completely defunct. I had backed this up to external hard drive. I now have windows 10, 64 bit laptop and would like to recover, if possible, some of the files from the backup drive.
I've upgraded from win 8.1 to 10. after upgrade all my files were in local disk user and in the folders but were not in library folders e.g pics were in local disk user pictures but not in file explorer pictures. so i moved every thing to the folders and after restarting my laptop everything was gone... what can i do to recover my data.
I had File History turned on an old machine that I'd upgraded to Windows 10. The machine was working fine with File History backing up files to an external storage drive. The machine died recently (motherboard completely not working) and now I have a new machine with Windows 10.
However I want to restore my files from the File History backups I had for my old machine, but I can't figure out how to make it work. Whenever I try to use the same external location as my File History drive it just makes a new backup with a different folder for my new machine.
My friend has been using AutoCAD on fairly new Windows 10 install. No problems till today when he got an error stating he needed to reinstall the OS. I didn't see the error before he shut down. To be safe he pulled his hard drive and asked me to backup his personal files using a USB enclosure, before reinstalling OS.No problem right? I've done this for other people many times in older OSs, but this is the first time I've seen Windows 10 file structure. I plugged in the drive and found that I can't access files in the OS partition. I can't crack it. Basically, it can't get the rights to see files there. I actually plugged the enclosure into an old XP computer I had laying around and was able to see some folders and files, but no personal files. where his files are located on the drive and how I can access them?
My HP pavilion dv6000 is running windows 10 currently the 1511 version. Pc is passworded and associated with Microsoft account. Somehow it developed fault that resulted to spark on the board resulting to system unable to power on. I have a new system but I need to transfer my files from the old laptop's hard drive so I used the socket that connects internal hard drive to another laptop as external hard drive via USB. it FAILED to install the hardware. It installs as unknown in device manager. I have tried on other sockets and PCs still noticed the same thing. Hard drive is healthy..
I am almost certain this has to do with windows 10 attempts to prevent me from losing my files to theft perhaps my hard drive was stolen, something that is obtainable in earlier versions of windows. However, that's just my guess.
Meanwhile I have NOT tried connecting the hard drive via IDE socket to try booting windows 10 on another laptop BUT I tried booting it as OS on external hard drive & it is not read by the laptop
How to access the hard drive and get my files as the spoiled laptop shows no sign of coming up soon.
I noticed that an encrypted esd file of Windows 10 always has the "Windows Setup Media", "Microsoft Windows PE" and "Microsoft Windows Setup" volume images.
What are these volume images? What are their differences?
why do I get numbered copies of the same file (PDF or Doc), especially number (1) in my computer? These are files that I use and do not use. It is not all over the place, but exists. I open a folder, and I see:
xxxxx.doc xxxxx.doc(1) xxxxx.pdf xxxxx.pdf(1)
My computer does not seem to be infected by a virus. It works perfectly.
Running Windows 10 on an HP Multimedia Laptop.I am on vacation in Mexico, Outlook and Edge/Firefox timeout (Laptop) when I try to search/update. HOWEVER my Kaspersky virus dB update can access the Internet (on laptop) with no issues when I run it. I had no problems at home, the only difference is I am trying to connect at the hotel in Mexico. I have tried connecting with both wireless and lan, changed both to trusted networks and rebooted. Same problem, shows a connection but Outlook and Browser timeout. Troubleshooter does not find anything wrong.
The network is fine, I am using my Android tablet and cell phone connected to the network to send this question. Is this some location/security setting in Windows 10?
I have been using Bitdefender for many years, yet since the change it is no longer displayed. It is still in my list of installed programs. Do I need to disable the windows 10 anti virus option to get Bitdefender operating again?
My brother has lost all admin privileges and would like to get them back, how this happened he was doing a virus scan and it was taking an excessive amount of time and he wanted to stop it but it would not stop so he just turned off his computer when he restarted it booted in what he says was OTS mode with no admin rights. Is there a way he can recover admin rights?

I am downloading an ISO File from the official Microsoft Website (Windows 10 Insider Builds). My PC is infected which could result in the ISO File being infected and injected by a infection.. For 2 weeks I've been trying to upgrade my Asus G50VT laptop from Windows 7 home to WIndows 10 home. I have tried over 5 times using Windows Update and several times using the Microsoft USB/DVD installer. Everything downloads fine; and gets to the black screen with the "installing drivers" with a percentage going around in a circle. It gets stuck at 32% every time. I have to force shutdown the laptop and it rolls back to Windows 7...
There are no new BIOS updates available from Asus (laptop was released in 2009) the latest BIOS is already installed and from 2012. I don't see anything for windows 10 on the Asus Website.I have all external usb devices removed. I have tried shutting off my WiFi adapter and disabling / uninstalling Norton Security/Anti-Virus.I have sucessfully upgraded 2 other machines from windows 8.1 to 10 with no problem.
I am using SUPERantiSpyware [SUPERantiSpyware.com] version 6.0.128 database version 12149 updated Nov 1, 2015. This is free version and I have been using it for more than two years on Windows 7 too.
Now I have Windows 10. When I run Scan ticking enable Rescue Scan [Maximum Boost], Windows 10 Hangs up giving following error message:
